After Transmigrating Into a Book, I Was Forced to Play the Role of a Scumbag Alpha (GL) - Chapter 34
Chapter 34
“How could you speak about your uncle like that? Shen Hanzhi, are you also planning to disown me, your grandfather?” Shen Yuanshu gasped angrily, clearly upset.
“I didn’t say that. If you insist on interpreting it that way, I can’t help it,” Shen Hanzhi replied, hanging up the phone. She wasn’t the original person and lacked the patience to listen to Shen Yuanshu’s lectures.
Shen Yuanshu didn’t expect Shen Hanzhi to be so disrespectful. After she hung up, he angrily took two quick-acting heart pills to calm down. His gaze shifted to his two sons sitting across from him, and he scolded, “I humiliated myself for you two. Shen Hanzhi even dared to hang up on me now. She’s truly out of line!”
“Dad, please calm down. Only you can keep Shen Hanzhi in check at Shen Corporation. You must take care of yourself,” Shen Jiancai urged.
Shen Yuanshu sighed heavily. He hadn’t been in charge for years, and Shen Hanzhi had nearly cleared out his allies in the company. He had spoken to her so boldly earlier because, despite her past oversteps, she had still respected him as an elder. Now, she didn’t even give him that courtesy.
“Shen Corporation has grown stronger over the years, but Hanzhi has become more disobedient. I’m truly disappointed in her,” Shen Yuanshu said, striking his cane on the floor several times.
Shen Jianshe said angrily, “She’s lost her senses. Ever since she fell for that jinx from the Wen family, she’s changed completely. Wen Jin must have bewitched her.”
“Wen Jin? The illegitimate daughter of the Wen family?” Shen Yuanshu asked, frowning.
“Yes. At the charity gala, Shen Hanzhi defended that illegitimate girl and showed no respect for me or President Fan. Dad, we can’t let this go unchecked, or Shen Corporation won’t be under your control anymore,” Shen Jianshe said furiously.
Shen Yuanshu sighed heavily, gritted his teeth, and said, “Have someone watch Hanzhi’s place. When she goes out, bring that illegitimate Wen girl to me alone. I want to see what kind of omega has Hanzhi so infatuated.”
“Alright, I’ll arrange it immediately,” Shen Jianshe replied, his face lighting up, and he quickly made the arrangements.
Soon, Shen Jianshe’s people found out that Shen Hanzhi was at the company signing documents, leaving only Wen Jin and a few maids at the villa.
Shen Jianshe immediately called his men, saying, “Take people to bring that illegitimate Wen girl here. The old man wants to see her. There are bodyguards at Hanzhi’s villa. If necessary, restrain them. We must bring her back today.”
“Understood, President Shen,” the leader replied.
The leader quickly drove into the villa complex with his team. Since Shen Jianshe and Shen Jiancai had previously brought drivers there, the security guards let them pass. A minibus followed by an Audi entered the complex and soon arrived at Shen Hanzhi’s villa.
Zhang Hao saw the vehicles approaching and stepped out of the villa’s gate, saying, “Gentlemen, President Shen is still at the company. If you’re here for her, please come back this afternoon.”
Wang Qing, the leader, glanced at Zhang Hao and signaled to his men. Two of them stepped forward to grab Zhang Hao, but Zhang Hao was skilled and fought them off. Wang Qing’s group of eight left two to deal with Zhang Hao outside while the rest entered the villa.
Yang Man and Liu Fang heard the commotion and came out to investigate, only to see a fight breaking out.
Wang Qing’s gaze swept over them, and he asked, “Where’s Wen Jin? The old man sent us to bring her to the old residence.”
Yang Man stayed silent, but Liu Fang, sensing trouble, asked, “What are you trying to do?”
“Nothing serious. The old man is President Shen’s grandfather and just wants to meet Miss Wen. No need to be nervous,” Wang Qing said, scanning the living room. He ordered his men, “Go knock on every room and invite Miss Wen out.”
His men immediately acted. Liu Fang, seeing the situation escalate, tried to intervene, saying, “This is how you invite someone? You’re trespassing!”
Wang Qing had two alpha men restrain Liu Fang and Yang Man while the others knocked on each room’s door.
Wen Jin was studying pinyin with Lu Wenzhu in the study when the noisy commotion interrupted them. Soon, someone knocked and pushed the door open.
Wang Qing entered with his men and said, “Which one is Miss Wen Jin? The old man invites you to the old residence.”
The little girl saw the strangers and said timidly, “That’s me, but Sister hasn’t returned yet. I don’t know you.”
“No need to worry, Miss Wen. I work for President Shen’s second uncle. The old man really wants to meet you. Please come,” Wang Qing said, signaling his men, who surrounded her.
“Don’t make this hard for us, Miss Wen. We’re just ordinary workers. Please come,” Wang Qing said, gesturing to his men. One pushed Wen Jin from behind.
Lu Wenzhu tried to intervene but was stopped by Wang Qing, who said, “Miss, this is Shen family business. It’s none of your concern. I advise you to stay out of it.”
“Please, Miss Wen. I suggest you walk on your own, or my men will have to act,” Wang Qing said coldly to Wen Jin.
Wen Jin felt these people weren’t good. She hadn’t heard Sister mention any old man. But if she didn’t go, they’d likely force her.
Wen Jin bit her lip and stepped out of the room, hoping Lu Wenzhu or Aunt Liu would quickly call Shen Hanzhi.
When Wen Jin went downstairs, Liu Fang and Yang Man were gone. Wang Qing’s men had taken them to a room. Zhang Hao was also restrained, helplessly watching as Wen Jin left with them.
Lu Wenzhu, seeing them leave, urgently called Shen Hanzhi, saying, “President Shen, Little Jin was taken away. They said they’re your second uncle’s men, and the old man wants to see her.”
“I understand. I’m heading there now,” Shen Hanzhi replied, her face darkening. She hadn’t moved against these people yet, but they targeted her little rabbit.
Shen Hanzhi immediately gathered over a dozen security personnel from the company, driving two minibuses behind her car.
Meanwhile, the little girl was brought to the old residence. Shen Yuanshu sat on the living room sofa, eyeing Wen Jin as Wang Qing brought her in. He frowned and said dismissively, “You’re Wen Hengqiu’s illegitimate daughter?”
The little girl’s eyes reddened, and she stepped back, scared by their gazes, which reminded her of Wu Yan’s.
Shen Yuanshu sneered, “Scared now? I heard Hanzhi barely goes to the company because of you and has distanced herself from us Shen family members. You’re quite something.”
The little girl stood helplessly, saying, “I didn’t do anything.”
“Stop pretending to be pitiful. We’re not Shen Hanzhi,” Shen Jianshe roared.
“Exactly, Miss Wen. You know the Wen family’s situation. Someone like you doesn’t deserve Hanzhi. The Shen family won’t accept you. You should divorce her soon,” Shen Jiancai said, glancing at Wen Jin.
“I’m telling you, with Hanzhi’s status, only an omega from Nandu City’s elite circles deserves her. How could an insignificant illegitimate girl like you match her? I had you investigated. Wen Hengqiu kept you locked in Rose Manor, and you never even attended a day of school. You’re just an illiterate. No matter how pretty you are, Hanzhi will tire of you soon, and that day will come quickly,” Shen Yuanshu said, striking his cane heavily on the floor.
Wen Jin stood helplessly, feeling like she was back at Rose Manor, judged in the hall by Wu Yan and others, like a lamb awaiting slaughter with no voice.
Wen Jin clenched her fists tightly, mustered her courage, and looked at Shen Jiancai, saying, “I love Sister and won’t divorce her.”
“You dare talk back? Don’t think we can’t touch you just because Hanzhi protects you,” Shen Jianshe yelled, pointing at Wen Jin.
Before he finished, car engines roared outside. Shen Hanzhi arrived with her team and strode into the hall, saying coldly, “What’s so urgent that you brought Little Jin here while I was away?”
“Hanzhi, you’re here. Sit down. We meant no harm. You married Wen Jin, and the old man only learned afterward. It’s natural he’s upset. He just wanted to meet her, no malice,” Shen Jiancai said, softening his tone and expression.
“Is that so? Then why did my maids say your men used force? We live in a lawful society, Second Uncle. What’s your intention?” Shen Hanzhi asked coldly, glancing at him. She took the little girl’s hand, which felt ice-cold. The girl must have been terrified.
“Your grandfather asked me to bring Wen Jin here. What? For an outsider, you’d cut ties with the Shen family?” Shen Jianshe said boldly, backed by the old man.
Shen Hanzhi squeezed the little girl’s hand and smiled, saying, “It’s not impossible. I spared you out of respect before, but it seems I was too kind. Second Uncle, Third Uncle, starting next month, the company’s dividends will have nothing to do with you. Also, I heard from finance that you two borrowed over ten million from the company. I didn’t pursue it before, but now you’ll need to repay it, or I’ll report it to the police.”
Her gaze shifted to the old man, whose veins bulged with anger. Shen Hanzhi continued unhurriedly, “As for Grandfather, it seems you don’t lack money. I’ll stop sending the millions each month. Your savings should suffice.”
“If there’s nothing else, Little Jin and I will leave. You can continue chatting,” Shen Hanzhi said with a cold smile.
Shen Yuanshu, furious, struck his cane on the floor several times. Seeing Hanzhi unmoved, he softened his tone, saying, “Hanzhi, for an omega, you’d really abandon your grandfather?”
Shen Hanzhi nodded calmly, saying, “Yes, I would.”
With that, she led Wen Jin out, speaking so naturally that the others in the hall were stunned.
Shen Jiancai reacted first, chasing after her, saying, “Hanzhi, I know we were wrong today. I apologize to Little Jin. Please forgive me and your second uncle. We’re your father’s brothers and contributed to the company before.”
“Contributions? Not needed anymore,” Shen Hanzhi replied, ignoring him and leading Wen Jin to the car.
In the hall, Shen Yuanshu, furious, threw a teacup, saying, “That ungrateful granddaughter! Shen Hanzhi, your wings have hardened.”
“She’s just bluffing to scare us. If she wanted to cut our dividends, she’d have done it already,” Shen Jianshe said dismissively.
Meanwhile, the little girl, badly shaken, curled into Shen Hanzhi’s arms in the car, saying, “Sister.”
“Don’t be afraid. I’m here. It was my oversight. With so many eyes on you at Shen Corporation, I shouldn’t have left just one bodyguard at the villa. I’ll hire three more to protect you,” Shen Hanzhi said thoughtfully.
“Sister, Grandfather and the others don’t like me and want you to divorce me,” the little girl said, sniffing, her eyes red.
“Ignore them. They’re not important. My little rabbit is so lovable. How could I divorce you?” Shen Hanzhi said, rubbing the girl’s waist to comfort her. She couldn’t divorce her for at least a year. By then, Little Jin would have learned enough, and her own “scum alpha” points would be sufficient. She’d give the girl her freedom then.
But Shen Hanzhi didn’t voice those thoughts, fearing the girl would overthink.
After resting in Shen Hanzhi’s arms, the little girl calmed down, rubbing her face against Shen Hanzhi’s neck and saying coyly, “Sister, is it really okay? Because of me, you fought with your family.”
Seeing the girl’s red eyes, Shen Hanzhi felt a pang of sympathy. She pulled her closer, glanced at the driver focusing on the road, and kissed the girl’s right cheek dimple, saying, “Don’t worry. Compared to them, you’re my family.”
Shen Hanzhi spoke the truth. She hadn’t been in this world long, spent the most time with Wen Jin, and relied on her to survive here. Wen Jin was indeed her closest person.
The little girl didn’t expect Sister to kiss her with others around. Embarrassed, she rubbed her face against Shen Hanzhi, wanting to kiss her back.
The driver took Shen Hanzhi and Wen Jin back to the villa. Aunt Liu and the others waited anxiously at the gate, relieved to see them return.
“Little Jin, are you okay?” Aunt Liu asked, hurrying to check on Wen Jin.
“I’m fine. Sister came to get me as soon as I arrived,” the little girl said quickly, not wanting Aunt Liu to worry.
Zhang Hao approached Shen Hanzhi to report, saying, “President Shen, I failed to stop them this time.”
“It’s not your fault. One person can’t stop so many. Hire three more guards to prevent desperate moves. Make sure their backgrounds are clean,” Shen Hanzhi instructed.
“Understood, President Shen,” Zhang Hao replied, hurrying to handle it.
Back at the villa, Wen Jin gradually calmed down. Lu Wenzhu, waiting for their return, felt relieved seeing Wen Jin safe.
“Teacher Lu, sorry for the trouble. I’ve strengthened security, so you can rest assured. Thank you for calling me promptly,” Shen Hanzhi said with a smile.
“As long as she’s fine,” Lu Wenzhu said, relieved.
After lunch, the little girl resumed math lessons with Lu Wenzhu. Zhang Hao brought three more bodyguards, and Shen Hanzhi arranged for them to stay in three bungalows by the gate, each with private bathrooms. Since they were male alphas, living in the villa would be inconvenient.
In the study, the little girl finished her mental math cards, and Lu Wenzhu checked her accuracy.
The little girl stared at the desk, lost in thought. Though Sister comforted her, Shen Yuanshu’s words made her heart ache inexplicably.
She really was as Shen Yuanshu said—knowing nothing. Sister was so wonderful. Would Sister always like her?
“Little Jin? Little Jin?” Lu Wenzhu called.
“Sorry, Teacher Lu, I was distracted,” the little girl apologized quickly.
Lu Wenzhu noticed her preoccupation and asked, “What’s wrong? Something on your mind?”
“Sort of. Teacher Lu, is Sister very impressive in Nandu City?” the little girl asked, looking at Lu Wenzhu.
“Of course. Shen Corporation is Nandu City’s leading enterprise, and President Shen is so young with limitless potential,” Lu Wenzhu said with a smile.
“Sister is so impressive, but I know nothing. Today, Grandfather Shen called me over and said I don’t deserve her,” the little girl said, disheartened.
“No, you’re very smart. You mastered yesterday’s lessons today, and you got all the questions right just now. Little Jin, everyone can see President Shen cares about you. Don’t doubt yourself because of others’ biases,” Lu Wenzhu comforted, noting Shen Hanzhi’s obvious affection for Wen Jin.
The little girl’s mood lifted slightly, and she asked shyly, “Can everyone see Sister cares about me?”
“Yes,” Lu Wenzhu replied, having witnessed their affection during meals.
The little girl’s eyes brightened, though she felt shy, saying, “Teacher Lu, let’s continue.”
Seeing her embarrassment, Lu Wenzhu nodded and resumed the lesson.
That evening, after her bath, Shen Hanzhi, worried the day’s events scared her little rabbit, went to her room early to keep her company.
Wen Jin’s eyes lit up seeing Shen Hanzhi. She nestled into her arms familiarly, saying, “Sister, I’m scared. Comfort me, please.”
Hearing her little rabbit’s soft plea, Shen Hanzhi melted, holding her and rubbing her hair, asking, “How do you want me to comfort you?”
“Sister, you know how,” the little girl said, pouting and rubbing her nose against Shen Hanzhi’s neck coyly. Mimicking a TV character, she sat face-to-face on Shen Hanzhi’s lap, her legs tightly wrapped around Shen Hanzhi’s waist.
Shen Hanzhi coughed lightly, finding the position a bit intimate. But seeing the girl’s innocent face, she assumed it was just her wanting to be close and didn’t question it.
Looking at the soft girl, Shen Hanzhi gently kissed her cheek dimple.
The little girl’s ears turned red. After the kiss, she tilted her face up, eyes sparkling as she gazed at Shen Hanzhi.
Understanding, Shen Hanzhi leaned in, kissing Wen Jin’s cheek and forehead several times. The girl shyly buried her face in Shen Hanzhi’s chest, saying, “Sister, I really like you.”
Shen Hanzhi’s heart warmed at the girl’s murmur. She adored her little rabbit, asking, “Is my little rabbit happy now? Want me to watch cartoons with you?”
“Yes, hold me while we watch,” the little girl said, blinking at Shen Hanzhi.
“Alright, I’ll hold you. Let’s not watch ‘Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf’. How about ‘Boonie Bears’?” Shen Hanzhi coaxed softly, hoping this cartoon wouldn’t teach her little rabbit bad habits.
The little girl nodded obediently. Soon, Shen Hanzhi watched with her, thinking cartoons could help her learn about animals, which would benefit her.
Wen Jin occasionally nuzzled Shen Hanzhi, thinking cartoons were for kids. She and Sister should watch shows about school seniors and juniors. She buried her face in Shen Hanzhi’s chest.
After one episode, Shen Hanzhi’s system nagged her, so she nitpicked that the girl hadn’t eaten fruit today. The girl cooperatively cried, letting Shen Hanzhi kiss her five or six more times. Shen Hanzhi comforted her for a while before leaving.
The little girl, kissed over a dozen times, was thrilled, rolling in her blankets. Sister really liked seeing her cry. TV dramas taught her so much!
Wen Jin turned on the TV, continuing the next episode.
In this episode, set in college, the senior and junior pretended to be strangers. During a club outing at a KTV, they sat seven or eight people apart, like a chasm separated them.
The senior greeted those nearby, saying she’d step out for air and return. Minutes later, the junior followed.
She looked around the hallway. In a dark room, a slender hand pulled her in, saying, “What? Miss me?”
It was the senior’s voice. The junior didn’t speak but kissed her directly.
In the dark, the senior pinned the junior against the wall, her movements relentless. Her lips neared the junior’s ear, whispering, “What if someone walks in?”
The junior covered her mouth tightly, muffling her breaths. The senior’s cool voice teased, “Like this atmosphere? Feeling more sensitive?”
Half an hour later, the senior returned to the KTV room first.
“Why so long? Did you see the junior? She left right after you,” someone asked.
The senior calmly sipped ice water, replying, “Didn’t see her. I played with a stray cat for a bit.”
Minutes later, the junior entered. Some close omega friends asked where she’d been.
The junior lied casually, saying, “I ran into a school acquaintance and chatted.”
The senior sipped her ice water, her gaze lingering on the junior’s legs. The junior’s legs were shaky, barely standing after a few words, and she quickly sat on the sofa.
The senior’s lips curved slightly, thinking the little kitten’s stamina was still too weak.
