After Transmigrating Into a Book, I Was Forced to Play the Role of a Scumbag Alpha (GL) - Chapter 43
Chapter 43
When the little girl saw Shen Hanzhi leave, she eagerly grabbed her laptop. She wanted to watch the business drama from the other day.
The little girl quickly opened the video app and saw a large family sitting together for dinner on the screen. Father had returned from out of town, and Stepmom sat beside him with a bright smile, gracefully playing the role of a wife. The children each had their own thoughts.
After dinner, Stepmom and Father went back to their room together. Big Sister’s gaze fixed intensely on their retreating figures until they disappeared around the corner of the first-floor hallway.
“So concerned about Father? You’d better focus on the project you’re responsible for,” Big Brother mocked coldly from the sofa.
“Mind your own business. Take care of your own project so you don’t mess it up again and make Father and Grandpa angry,” Big Sister retorted with a cold face, then stood and headed upstairs.
Second Sister and Third Sister, seeing the two about to clash, quickly went to do their own tasks.
Big Sister went to the first floor, her eyes darkening as she looked at Father’s closed bedroom door. She gripped the doorknob tightly, then opened her own room’s door.
The villa had many rooms. She, Father, and Stepmom lived on the right side of the first-floor hallway, while Second Sister and Third Sister lived on the left. Big Brother lived on the third floor. Big Sister’s room was a few doors away from Father’s, while Stepmom’s room was directly across from his.
Big Sister sat on the sofa in her room, listening to the sounds outside. Around eight, she heard a door open in the hallway.
Big Sister gently turned her room’s doorknob, peeked out, and saw Stepmom coming out of Father’s room, as expected.
Big Sister closed her door, walked slowly toward Stepmom, who froze for a moment upon seeing her. Stepmom waved her hand and pointed to the door across, signaling that Father was still there.
Big Sister’s eyes deepened as she looked at Stepmom’s red lips. She quickly turned the doorknob, pushed Stepmom inside, followed her in, and locked the door.
Seeing the locked door, Stepmom urgently whispered, “Your father is right across. What are you doing?”
Big Sister pressed Stepmom closer to her and teased, “What am I doing? Doesn’t Stepmom know?”
Then Big Sister’s face turned cold. “Why did you stay in his room so long?”
Stepmom pushed Big Sister, trying to break free from her arms. “What else could it be? Don’t you know your father can’t do anything?”
Big Sister’s expression softened slightly. She kissed Stepmom’s lips and murmured softly, “Don’t worry. Once I’m in charge, I won’t let you be his girlfriend anymore.”
With that, Big Sister kissed her again, this kiss even more dominant than the last. Stepmom’s legs weakened, and Big Sister slightly loosened her hold.
Stepmom pushed Big Sister and said urgently, “Are you crazy? Your father is right across.”
Big Sister kissed Stepmom’s lips again and smiled. “Doesn’t that make it more exciting, Stepmom? Keep your voice down later.”
“Mmm…” Stepmom tried to say something, but Big Sister’s kiss silenced her.
The little girl, as usual, opened the comment section to see what people were saying.
[Immoral literature is the best!]
[This is too thrilling. Can this pair even be shown?]
[Wuwuwu, Big Sister is so dominant. Love it.]
[A song ‘Drowning’ for them.]
The little girl stared at the screen thoughtfully. After a while, she closed the laptop and rolled around on her bed. These shows always cut off at the critical moment. She felt she still had a lot to learn.
Over the next few months, the little girl spent her time in intense study. Her limited daily joys were clinging to Shen Hanzhi for kisses and hugs or watching dramas to learn.
But as her schoolwork grew heavier, she spent more time on homework, sometimes until eight or nine at night. After acting spoiled with Shen Hanzhi, she often fell asleep from exhaustion.
Shen Hanzhi felt sorry for Little Rabbit and gave her Sundays off to rest.
After months of airing out, Rose Manor was ready to live in. Shen Hanzhi hired staff to manage its daily affairs.
It was the weekend, and she planned to take Little Rabbit to Rose Manor to relax.
“Little Jin, your house is renovated. Want to go see it?” Shen Hanzhi asked softly.
The little girl shook her head, buried her face in Shen Hanzhi’s arms, and hummed, “I’ll go only if Sister comes with me.”
“Okay, I’ll go with my Little Rabbit,” Shen Hanzhi coaxed gently.
Shen Hanzhi called the driver and bodyguards, then took the little girl to Rose Manor. The rose fields outside bloomed vibrantly. From a distance, the villa looked completely renewed. It used to have an old European castle style but was now transformed into a trendy minimalist style with a white color scheme and large floor-to-ceiling windows, giving it a grand yet fresh feel.
“Little Jin, doesn’t it look completely different?” Shen Hanzhi asked softly.
Wen Jin felt a slight relief in her heart but still clutched Shen Hanzhi’s hand tightly.
Shen Hanzhi noticed the little girl’s nervousness and said to Wang Haichuan, “Park the car at the gate. Little Jin and I will walk in.”
“Yes, President Shen,” Wang Haichuan replied, quickly parking the car.
Shen Hanzhi and the little rungirl got out. Shen Hanzhi held the little girl’s hand as they walked inside. “Look, the small pavilions outside are all renovated into irregular geometric shapes. Don’t they look better than before?”
The little girl nodded heavily. The place felt entirely new. If not for the vast rose fields, she wouldn’t have recognized it.
“I had them build a cat house and rabbit hutch in the backyard. Want to go see?” Shen Hanzhi asked softly, her arm around the little girl’s waist.
The little girl nuzzled into Shen Hanzhi’s arms, hesitating. The dog cage from her childhood had left deep scars, but with Sister by her side, she wasn’t as scared.
Shen Hanzhi held the little girl’s hand and led her to the backyard. The once-dark backyard with the dog kennel was completely transformed. One side had a modern pavilion and long table, while the other had a rabbit hutch and cat house. The animals weren’t kept in cages. The area was large, with a fence to keep the animals from escaping, allowing them to roam freely. A barrier separated the rabbits and cats to prevent fights.
Shen Hanzhi had the staff choose gentle cats—the kind that let you pet them after a treat. The rabbits were even lazier, barely moving when petted.
The little girl looked at the fluffy animals, and her mood improved. The changed environment no longer matched the place she feared. “Sister, I want to go in and play.”
“Go ahead. I’ll come too,” Shen Hanzhi said, looking at the obedient Little Rabbit and the rabbits in the hutch, thinking they were quite similar.
The little girl rolled up her skirt, squatted down, and picked up a white rabbit to pet. She glanced at Shen Hanzhi and reminded her, “Sister, you can’t hold other rabbits or animals. You’re my wife.”
Shen Hanzhi shook her head with a smile. Her Little Rabbit was quite possessive. She leaned over, petted the rabbit in the little girl’s arms, and said, “What can I hold then?”
“You have me. Sister can only hold me,” the little girl said, nuzzling into Shen Hanzhi’s arms and petting the rabbit. The rabbit’s ears twitched, looking adorable.
Shen Hanzhi coaxed softly, “Okay, I’ll only hold my family’s Little Rabbit.”
The caretakers Shen Hanzhi hired seemed diligent. The animals weren’t afraid of people and even enjoyed being petted. A few rabbits, seeing the one in Shen Hanzhi’s hands being petted comfortably, surrounded her.
The possessive little girl noticed their intentions, pulled Shen Hanzhi closer, and said urgently, “Sister is mine. You can’t steal her.”
The rabbits didn’t understand, continuing to crowd around, some rubbing their heads against Shen Hanzhi’s ankles.
The little girl got jealous, lost interest in petting the rabbit in her arms, and pushed the others away from Shen Hanzhi, muttering, “Sister is mine. You can’t rub against her, not even with your heads.”
But Shen Hanzhi was too popular. The little girl finally had to pull her out of the rabbit hutch.
Shen Hanzhi watched the little girl’s actions and couldn’t stop chuckling.
Seeing her laugh, the little girl got upset, buried herself in Shen Hanzhi’s arms, and whined, “Sister, you’re laughing? Those rabbits wanted to rub against you. I won’t let them. You’re mine.”
Shen Hanzhi thought it was just a child’s possessiveness and coaxed softly, “Okay, I’ll only let the Little White Rabbit in my arms rub against me. That’s fine, right?”
“Mhm,” the little girl hummed, nuzzling in Shen Hanzhi’s arms for a bit before standing up.
Shen Hanzhi looked at the spoiled little one and asked softly, “Want to see the kittens?”
The little girl, still a bit jealous but curious about the kittens, nodded. Over the past few months, Sister sometimes took her for walks and she saw neighborhood cats, but they were tricksters—taking treats and then hissing. These kittens seemed nicer.
After a moment, unable to resist, she nodded. “Let’s go see, but Sister, you can’t hold them.”
“Okay, I won’t hold them. I’ll watch my Little Rabbit play with the kittens. That’s okay, right?” Shen Hanzhi asked with a smile.
The little girl nodded reassuringly and entered the cat house. Holding a cat treat, she fed a nearby orange tabby. The tabby ate, rolled over to show its belly, and meowed at her.
The little girl found it novel and petted the cat’s belly. Shen Hanzhi joined in, and the kitten squinted comfortably, letting them pet its belly like a social butterfly.
As she petted, the little girl’s gaze fell on Shen Hanzhi’s fingers. Sister’s fingers were so pretty, long and straight. She wanted to be petted by Sister like the kitten. Her ear tips reddened as she thought about it.
After playing with the kittens, Shen Hanzhi and Wen Jin entered the villa. The interior was completely renewed, almost as if Shen Hanzhi had erased all past traces. Having just overcome her fear of the backyard, the little girl felt much less scared now.
Shen Hanzhi held the little girl and asked with a smile, “Little rich lady, are you satisfied?”
The little girl nodded. She looked at the bright floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room. There used to be walls, making it feel oppressive. Now, several walls were removed and replaced with windows, brightening the space and erasing the suffocating feeling from before.
“Let’s go to the top floor,” Shen Hanzhi said softly.
The little girl’s body stiffened at the mention of the top floor—another place of her nightmares.
Shen Hanzhi saw her fear, pulled her closer, and coaxed gently, “Don’t be scared. Trust me.”
The little girl nuzzled into Shen Hanzhi’s arms and mumbled softly, “Sister, comfort me.”
Shen Hanzhi knew what her “comfort” meant. She leaned in, kissed the little girl’s cheek, and rubbed her head. “Don’t be afraid. Let’s go up together, okay?”
The little girl hummed and nodded. Shen Hanzhi held her hand and led her to the elevator, which wasn’t there before—Shen Hanzhi had it installed. They quickly reached the top floor, which was very different from its original layout.
There was a large media room, a gym, and a small bar counter. The little girl’s old room, along with the adjacent ones, had been transformed into a starry-sky room where you could see the sky.
Shen Hanzhi led the little girl inside. The little girl was stunned. Was this still her old attic?
Her eyes reddened as she leaned into Shen Hanzhi’s arms. “Sister, I used to live here. It was so small, with just one window, a bed, and a rickety table and chair. The window had iron bars outside. I thought I’d never get out.”
Shen Hanzhi hugged her Little Rabbit tightly and comforted her. “Not anymore. This place is all yours now, little rich lady. Try the bed. Is it comfortable?”
Shen Hanzhi pulled the little girl onto the bed. The mattress was soft, and Little Rabbit sank into it. Shen Hanzhi pulled her up and held her, the blue sky and clouds visible overhead, lifting their moods.
Shen Hanzhi gently stroked Little Rabbit’s back and smiled. “From now on, those nightmares will stay far away from my Little Rabbit. My Little Rabbit isn’t afraid of anything, and bad people will stay far away too. My Little Jin is the best.”
Little Rabbit propped herself up and kissed Shen Hanzhi’s cheek. “I love Sister. I’m so glad I have you.”
Shen Hanzhi looked at her Little Rabbit with a smile. “I’m glad I have my Little Rabbit too.”
When she first arrived in this world, her mind was chaotic, thrust into a mission unprepared. Having Little White Rabbit by her side made it easier, or she wasn’t sure she could’ve adapted.
At noon, having shaken off her childhood shadows, Little Rabbit and Shen Hanzhi held a barbecue by the pavilion. Shen Hanzhi had fresh beef, lamb, seafood, and vegetables bought, and they set up a small charcoal grill.
The little girl sat beside her, helping obediently. In the distance were the rose fields, stretching toward the horizon. She had never loved this place so much. Sister was right—it was hers now, no longer tied to the Wen family.
Soon, the aroma of lamb mixed with spices filled the air. The little girl stared eagerly at the skewers on the grill and asked, “Sister, is it ready yet?”
“Wait a bit. Is my carnivorous Little White Rabbit hungry? It’s almost done. Try these enoki mushrooms—they’re ready,” Shen Hanzhi said, handing her a skewer of grilled mushrooms.
The enoki mushrooms were coated in golden seasoning with spicy sauce. The little girl took a bite, her eyes squinting happily. The sweet-spicy sauce blended with the juicy mushrooms, crisp and satisfying.
Shen Hanzhi looked at the little girl’s obedient demeanor, her eyes curving with a smile. Raising a Little Rabbit brought so much joy.
“Sister, you try some,” Little Rabbit said, leaning over to feed Shen Hanzhi a mushroom skewer. Shen Hanzhi took a bite—it was delicious.
“Tastes good. The lamb skewers are almost done. I’ll set them aside for you,” Shen Hanzhi said, placing the cooked lamb skewers on a clean plate. She asked softly, “Want grilled oysters or fish first?”
“Fish,” the little girl said after thinking. Seeing Shen Hanzhi sweat, she felt bad and wiped her forehead. “Sister, I’ll fan you.”
The little girl fanned Shen Hanzhi considerately. Shen Hanzhi smiled and said, “No need. Eat quickly, or the lamb will get cold.”
“Then I’ll feed Sister,” the little girl said, eating a few bites and feeding Shen Hanzhi some. Shen Hanzhi grilled four fish, some oysters, and sweet potatoes, and they ate together.
When the little girl ate the sweet potato, her eyes lit up. She looked at it, smiled at Shen Hanzhi, and said, “Sweet potatoes were my favorite before. At Rose Manor, no one cared about me. You know Aunt Liu’s situation—Liu Can is sick, and Aunt Liu spent a lot on her care. She still secretly bought me tasty things, often bringing me milk or roasted sweet potatoes.”
Shen Hanzhi coaxed softly, “From now on, whatever my Little Rabbit wants to eat, I’ll buy. No more suffering for Little White Rabbit.”
The little girl smiled, holding back tears, and took a bite of the sweet potato—it was very sweet. “Sister said this whole manor is mine now. I’ll never go hungry again.”
“Eat more,” Shen Hanzhi said, pouring her more chilled watermelon juice.
The little girl pointed at Shen Hanzhi’s cup. “Sister, can I try yours? Is it good?”
“This? It’s beer, made from fermented barley. You might not like it the first time. Want to try?” Shen Hanzhi handed her the cup.
The little girl sniffed it, found the smell sharp, and took a sip. Her face scrunched up.
She handed the cup back to Shen Hanzhi with a grimace and mumbled, “Not good.”
Shen Hanzhi shook her head with a laugh. “Told you you wouldn’t like it. Kids should drink juice.”
Unconvinced, the little girl took two big gulps of watermelon juice. Juice suited her better.
After lunch, Shen Hanzhi took the little girl to the starry-sky room for a nap. The air conditioning kept it cool.
The little girl lay comfortably in Shen Hanzhi’s arms and fell asleep without dreaming.
Meanwhile, at the Wen family villa, Wen Hengqiu finally returned home. He didn’t even glance at Wen Kai, only instructing Wu Yan, “The company is stable now, but it’s nowhere near what it was. We need to cut household expenses further. Tell Wen Xin to study hard at school and not follow this useless thing.”
“Dad, I know I was wrong. I really do,” Wen Kai apologized quietly to Wen Hengqiu.
Wen Hengqiu’s gaze briefly swept over him, then fixed on Wu Yan. “I have a child outside. I had it checked at a private hospital—it’s healthy. Don’t worry, I won’t let anyone take your place as Mrs. Wen. But I’m determined to have this child. I’ve raised two failures. While I’m still young, I can raise another.”
“What? You want a mistress’s child to inherit the family business?” Wu Yan’s voice rose sharply.
“That’s not my plan. That child will be yours. I have no intention of letting that omega into the Wen family. I just want the child. Raise it from a young age—what’s the difference from your own? Better than this useless waste,” Wen Hengqiu said, glaring at Wen Kai with venom, as if he wanted to strangle him.
Hearing Wen Hengqiu openly admit to raising the other child, Wen Kai panicked, knelt at his feet, and sobbed, “Dad, I was wrong. I swear I’ll work hard with you, learn the business, and never mess around again.”
Wen Hengqiu kicked Wen Kai away and said coldly, “Do you know? Shen Hanzhi renovated all of Rose Manor. I heard she and Wen Jin are living there now. What a turn of fate. In just six months, not only has Shen Hanzhi not tired of Wen Jin, she’s treating her better, giving her that huge manor. If you’d been kinder to Wen Jin years ago, would I need to beg people like a fool?”
“Weren’t those things we did with your approval? Wen Hengqiu, I don’t care what you do outside, but if you dare bring that child home, I’ll go to the media and make a scene at your company. No one will live in peace,” Wu Yan said, her voice hysterical.
“You dare? If you do, the Wen Group will be ruined,” Wen Hengqiu said, getting agitated.
“Try me,” Wu Yan roared threateningly.
Wen Hengqiu nodded coldly. “Fine, let’s see.”
Uncompromising, Wen Hengqiu returned to his room with a cold face.
Wen Kai was dazed, unsure what to do.
At school, Wen Xin’s omega friends, knowing the Wen Group had stabilized, grew closer to her again.
One omega suggested, “Wen Xin, aren’t you inviting everyone to Rose Manor for a barbecue this year? I remember you did in freshman and sophomore years.”
Another quickly signaled, reminding, “Wen Xin’s family got rid of that old villa. They sold it long ago. Uncle Wen must’ve set his sights on better property elsewhere.”
Wen Xin’s face flushed and paled. She forced a smile and said, “Yeah, my dad wants to buy another plot. He sold that place since it’s in the suburbs, a bit remote.”
“True…” the others chattered.
Wen Xin’s fingers clenched into fists.
