After Transmigrating Into a Book, I Was Forced to Play the Role of a Scumbag Alpha (GL) - Chapter 62 (Extra 1)
Chapter 62 (Extra 1)
Shen Hanzhi woke up feeling dizzy and disoriented. She glanced at her watch; it was already past 10 in the morning.
Shen Hanzhi looked around the room’s furnishings and froze for a moment. This was still her old home, a 140-square-meter three-bedroom apartment, not the villa in the center of Nandu City.
Shen Hanzhi rubbed her forehead hard, her mind still in a fog. She pinched her thigh sharply, leaving a red mark, and gasped in pain. It seemed she wasn’t dreaming now.
But if this wasn’t a dream, what were all those past events? Was the world in that book the dream?
Shen Hanzhi called out to the system in her mind, but no one responded for a long time.
She grabbed her phone and opened the screen. It still showed the game she played late last night. She lost consciousness partway through, and her teammates reported her for being idle.
Shen Hanzhi bit her lip. She remembered playing the game halfway when she lost consciousness. Then a harsh-sounding system told her she had died suddenly and transmigrated into a book. After that, she married Little Bunny, and they had an adorable little bunny. How could she wake up back in her original world?
What about the sudden death? The system was so unreliable.
Or were all those things just a dream from last night? Could a dream feel so real? She still remembered Little Bunny’s warmth and Mumu’s cuteness. Did everything vanish after waking up?
Shen Hanzhi got up, took a shower, and fully woke up.
She felt no enthusiasm, grabbed her car keys, and went to the company.
Compared to her prominent status in the dream, the current Shen Hanzhi was ordinary. She ran a small company in the city operating a short video app, with just over thirty employees. She was only a minor manager.
When Shen Hanzhi entered the office, she saw employees diligently reviewing videos and maintaining the software.
The secretary came over to report the main tasks. “President Shen, the influencers you asked me to contact have been reached. The video department finalized the schedule with them. They’ll use our platform’s app to drive traffic.”
Shen Hanzhi nodded, recalling these matters as if from another lifetime. In her vivid dream, she signed deals worth tens of millions, and such small tasks didn’t concern her.
Shen Hanzhi sighed, reminding herself to stop dreaming. Waking up to find her wife and daughter gone, along with that huge conglomerate, she decided to play fewer games and dream less. Buying a villa in the city was achievable with effort.
The secretary, seeing Shen Hanzhi’s lack of enthusiasm, sped up her report. “President Shen, there’s good news. The head of the largest plantation in the city’s suburbs chose our company for their promotion. Miss Wen invited you to meet at the plantation at two this afternoon.”
“Miss Wen? The plantation?” Shen Hanzhi asked, puzzled, then thought she was overthinking. If this was reality, last night’s years were a dream. How could just any Wen be her Little Bunny?
“Okay, I understand. Come with me later to take notes,” Shen Hanzhi said, nodding.
“Got it, President Shen,” the secretary said, quickly leaving Shen Hanzhi’s office.
Shen Hanzhi pinched her brow, forcing herself not to think about unrealistic things.
After reviewing company files, she went to the small break room in the back. Compared to the one in her dream, this room was incomparable—small, with a window but no private bathroom.
Before her noon nap, Shen Hanzhi wished that waking up would let her see Little Bunny and the little one again. But she woke up still in the cramped break room.
She rubbed her dizzy head, got up, tidied herself, and went to the suburban plantation with her secretary.
Shen Hanzhi now drove a white BMW Z4 worth over 500,000, recently upgraded after earning money. Before, she drove a car worth just over 100,000.
They soon arrived. The secretary carried a laptop, notebook, and other items, following Shen Hanzhi.
The other side sent a secretary to escort Shen Hanzhi to a small meeting room to discuss business.
When Shen Hanzhi and the secretary sat down, the other party hadn’t arrived. Staff prepared tea and desserts, asking them to wait.
Shen Hanzhi stood up, looked out the window at the plantation, and saw it stretched endlessly. She couldn’t help but marvel at how wealthy this Miss Wen was.
Footsteps approached slowly. Shen Hanzhi turned to the door and saw a woman in a tailored dress walking over. Shen Hanzhi, slightly nearsighted and dizzy that morning, forgot her contact lenses, so she could only vaguely make out the woman’s outline. She didn’t want to squint impolitely.
Shen Hanzhi walked a few steps toward the door, wearing a professional smile. As the woman approached, her face seemed familiar, gradually becoming clearer.
Shen Hanzhi’s eyes widened. She opened her mouth several times but stopped herself.
The secretary, seeing her lose composure, tugged her sleeve and whispered, “President Shen, Miss Wen is here.”
Shen Hanzhi glanced at the secretary, regained her senses, and swallowed the “Little Jin” on her lips. Those were just in her dream. The woman before her was her client. For some reason, Shen Hanzhi felt a pang of bitterness.
“Hello, Miss Wen. If you have specific requirements, please tell us. Our company is quite professional in short videos and will meet your needs as much as possible,” Shen Hanzhi said, adjusting her demeanor and smiling politely at the woman.
The woman nodded slightly, her gaze subtly sweeping over Shen Hanzhi. “Good, President Shen, please sit. The plantation’s operations are doing well, but we want to boost promotion and make this the largest picking destination around. Do you have a proposal ready?”
Shen Hanzhi stared at Miss Wen for a moment, then quickly said, “We prepared one. Secretary Wang, explain the details to Miss Wen.”
“Okay, Miss Wen, we prepared a PPT. Let me start with the first plan…” Secretary Wang projected the PPT onto the big screen and began explaining.
Shen Hanzhi, unusually, stared at Miss Wen again, lost in thought. She looked so much like her Little Bunny, but her demeanor was different. Little Bunny loved wearing soft, pink clothes. After they had the little one, Shen Hanzhi bought many matching mother-daughter outfits. Little Bunny rarely wore such formal attire.
Shen Hanzhi looked at the woman, feeling a bit disappointed. She might never find her Little Bunny again.
Shen Hanzhi stared so intently that the woman, seeing Secretary Wang’s presentation end, smiled at her. “President Shen, am I that good-looking?”
Shen Hanzhi snapped back, coughed awkwardly, and felt this trip was a waste. Staring at her client and getting called out meant no hope for collaboration.
The woman seemed to notice Shen Hanzhi’s embarrassment, smiled, and said, “I’m joking. I’m satisfied with your company’s proposal. Let your secretary work out the details with my team. The weather’s nice lately. My winery’s wine has been ready for a while. Interested in joining me for dinner, President Shen?”
“Definitely, but I should treat you,” Shen Hanzhi said. Eating with a client was expected, especially since they chose her company so readily.
“Great. I’ll treat today, and President Shen can treat next time. Friends should reciprocate,” the woman said with a smile.
“Absolutely, Miss Wen is right. I drove here. How do we go?” Shen Hanzhi said, smiling.
“Take my car. President Shen’s car can be driven back by your secretary,” the woman said, smiling. “Also, since we’re friends, call me by my name. I’m Wen Jin.”
“Wen Jin?” Shen Hanzhi repeated, eyes widening, pupils shrinking. “How is that possible?”
“What’s wrong? Is there a problem with the name?” Wen Jin asked, lowering her gaze with a light smile.
Shen Hanzhi stared for a long time, feeling that, except for the face and name resembling her Little Jin, nothing else seemed similar. Her Little Bunny was soft and never so assertive.
Shen Hanzhi gave an awkward laugh and said softly, “Nothing, it’s a nice name. As for reciprocation, my name is Shen Hanzhi. Call me whatever you like, Miss Wen.”
“Alright, since President Shen is so polite, we can change how we address each other once we’re closer,” Wen Jin said, smiling, arranging for her staff to prepare the car, and leading Shen Hanzhi downstairs.
“Do you drink often?” Wen Jin asked, raising her eyes with a faint smile, making Shen Hanzhi pause. The Wen Jin before her merged perfectly with her memory of Little Bunny.
“President Shen is zoning out again? Am I that attractive? This is your nth time staring at me today. I might start charging,” Wen Jin teased with a laugh.
Her assistant behind her widened her eyes, as if seeing something rare. Their Miss Wen rarely smiled, yet today she smiled multiple times and didn’t get upset despite being stared at.
Shen Hanzhi apologized awkwardly, “Sorry, Miss Wen. I didn’t sleep well last night. My apologies.”
“It’s fine. I didn’t say anything. Why are you nervous?” Wen Jin asked, stepping closer to Shen Hanzhi with a raised eyebrow.
“No, I’m not nervous,” Shen Hanzhi said, clenching her fists, her mouth stubborn.
Wen Jin saw her flustered, stopped teasing, and walked toward the car, her lips maintaining a faint smile.
Shen Hanzhi swallowed hard, took deep breaths, followed, and mentally warned herself that this Wen Jin wasn’t her Little Bunny. She seemed hard to handle.
The assistant, Little Chen, tactfully sat in the front with the driver, while Wen Jin and Shen Hanzhi sat in the back.
Shen Hanzhi didn’t dare look at Wen Jin again, staring out the window instead.
Wen Jin glanced at Shen Hanzhi occasionally, her eyes deepening.
Twenty minutes later, they arrived at Wen Jin’s winery. Shen Hanzhi got out, seeing vast grapevines and beautiful scenery.
Wen Jin looked at Shen Hanzhi with a smile. “Dinner will be with my daughter. President Shen won’t mind, right?”
Shen Hanzhi paused, her heart sinking. She had overthought it. How could this powerful woman be her Little Kitty? She had a child and was probably married.
Shen Hanzhi felt drained, her professional smile fading.
Wen Jin saw her forced smile, her own smile growing. “My daughter is very obedient and cute. You’ll like her, President Shen.”
Shen Hanzhi’s brow furrowed slightly, thinking, what does your daughter have to do with me? Why should I like her? But she politely said, “Definitely, Miss Wen’s daughter must be adorable.”
Before Wen Jin entered the winery villa, a child in a white bunny outfit, about three years old with two cute ponytails, rushed out, hugged Wen Jin’s leg, and cooed, “Mommy, I missed you! Did you buy me candy?”
Wen Jin’s eyes softened, she picked up her daughter, kissed her cheek, and teased, “You can’t keep eating candy. Forgot how your baby tooth hurt?”
“But, but, I love candy,” the child said, tilting her head and cooing at Wen Jin, her short legs swinging happily.
Shen Hanzhi looked at the child in Wen Jin’s arms and froze. Though the child had grown, she resembled the little one from her memory in swaddling clothes, especially those lively, twinkling eyes.
“You can’t eat too much even if you love it. I’ll have Auntie make you apple juice later. It’s nutritious, better than candy every day,” Wen Jin said, looking at the little one helplessly.
She gave Shen Hanzhi an apologetic smile. “Sorry, President Shen. The little one loves candy and can’t be controlled.”
Shen Hanzhi forced a smile worse than crying and agreed, “Kids love candy. It’s a challenge.”
Shen Hanzhi looked at the little one again. “Little one, you need to listen to Mommy.”
“Who are you? I’ve never seen you,” the child asked curiously, her ponytails bouncing as she spoke.
Wen Jin patted the child’s tummy, smiling, and introduced, “This is Auntie Shen, Mommy’s business partner.”
“Mumu, how should you greet elders?” Wen Jin prompted gently.
“Hello, Auntie,” the child said obediently to Shen Hanzhi.
Hearing the name Mumu, Shen Hanzhi felt struck by lightning, repeating mechanically, “Mumu? Which Mu?”
Wen Jin’s smile deepened, her eyes like a deep lake, unfathomable. “The Mu with three water dots. What, does President Shen have any special thoughts?”
Wen Jin stepped forward, holding her daughter, closing the distance with Shen Hanzhi. Shen Hanzhi’s chest heaved, struggling to speak. Were these all really coincidences?
