After Transmigrating Into a Book, I Was Forced to Play the Role of a Scumbag Alpha (GL) - Chapter 7
Chapter 7
“This is cantaloupe. If you like it, I’ll have someone prepare some for you every day,” Shen Hanzhi said softly, coaxing her.
The little girl had already eaten quite a bit during dinner, so she did not eat much fruit. She took a few bites to soothe her throat and then put down her fork.
Shen Hanzhi saw the little girl was done eating and checked the time. It was almost ten o’clock at night, and the music from the hall outside had long stopped. Shen Hanzhi figured the guests had probably left.
She stood up, walked to the door, pushed open the lounge door, and looked outside. Seeing that the guests had already left, Shen Hanzhi let out a sigh of relief and turned back into the lounge.
“Little Jin, everyone outside has left. Let’s go back and rest early. It’s ten o’clock already, not early,” Shen Hanzhi said patiently to the little girl.
“Okay,” the little girl nodded obediently. She just pulled out her chair to stand up, but before she could take a step, an arm wrapped around her waist. Her body felt light, and Shen Hanzhi lifted her into her arms again.
The little rabbit’s eyes turned red with embarrassment. She looked at Shen Hanzhi nervously, “Sister, I can walk myself.”
Shen Hanzhi smiled, looked at the shy little rabbit in her arms, and said softly, “You just put medicine on your feet. Try not to walk too much tonight. I’ll carry you upstairs. What’s wrong? Are you shy with me? Didn’t you just call me your wife earlier?”
The little girl’s ears were not the only thing red now; her whole face flushed. She buried her face in Shen Hanzhi’s shoulder, not daring to look into Shen Hanzhi’s eyes.
Shen Hanzhi looked at the little girl, who was too shy to tease, and her eyes curved slightly.
She carried the little girl out of the lounge, intending to head upstairs, when a woman rushed toward them. Shen Hanzhi’s thoughts circled in her mind before she recognized her. This was the original body’s mother, Song Meihong.
Shen Hanzhi had only briefly skimmed through the original body’s memories and had not paid much attention to how the original body got along with her mother. She could only say stiffly, “Mom, is something wrong?”
Song Meihong’s eyes were practically spitting fire, especially when she looked at Wen Jin with hostility.
“You still have the nerve to ask me what’s wrong? Shen Hanzhi, you’ve been running the company for more than a day or two. Tonight was such a great opportunity to build connections with Nandu City’s businesspeople, but you, as soon as the wedding was over, carried this little vixen into the lounge. How many people are laughing at us now?” Song Meihong said furiously.
After Song Meihong called Wen Jin a little vixen, Shen Hanzhi’s face turned cold. This woman was not her real mother, so why should she put up with her?
“Little Jin is my wife. Please watch your words when you speak. Also, I’m in charge of the Shen Corporation now. If you want to live comfortably, I suggest you go home early and stay out of my business,” Shen Hanzhi said coldly, looking at Song Meihong. At the same time, she searched the original body’s memories about Song Meihong and found that their relationship was already poor. The original body had even cut off Song Meihong’s allowance for two months because she kept meddling in her affairs.
Song Meihong did not understand finance. After the original body’s father passed away, all the assets were gradually transferred to the original body. Song Meihong was left with only two villas and a large apartment in Nandu City. All other shares and assets had been coaxed away by the original body. So, what Shen Hanzhi just said to Song Meihong fit the original body’s character.
“Hanzhi, is this how you treat your mother? I only said a couple of things about her, and you’re protecting her like this? What kind of spell did she cast on you?” Song Meihong’s face turned red with anger.
Shen Hanzhi looked at Song Meihong calmly and said coldly, “Little Jin and I are married now. I hope you think before you speak. If outsiders hear these words, they’ll just become gossip for people to laugh about. Insulting her is no different from insulting me. Go home and think about it.”
After Shen Hanzhi finished speaking, she ignored Song Meihong. She could feel the little rabbit trembling in her arms. She had just managed to calm her down a bit, and now she was scared again.
Shen Hanzhi sighed and carried Wen Jin upstairs.
Song Meihong was furious downstairs, but remembering how Shen Hanzhi had cut off her allowance before, she did not dare make a big scene. She was used to a lavish lifestyle, and being without money could ruin her. Out of sight, out of mind, Song Meihong quickly walked out of Shen Hanzhi’s villa and had her driver take her back to her residence.
As Shen Hanzhi carried the little girl upstairs, she comforted her, “Don’t be afraid. My mom doesn’t live here. She barely comes a few times a year. Ignore her and don’t take her words to heart.”
The little girl sniffled and mumbled aggrievedly, “Sister, I’m not a vixen.”
Though Wen Jin did not know what a vixen was, from the tone of that woman’s words, it did not sound like anything good.
Shen Hanzhi chuckled and soothed her gently, “Yes, you’re not a vixen. You’re my little rabbit.”
“Huh?” The little girl lifted her face slightly from Shen Hanzhi’s shoulder, looking at her with some confusion. She had heard Aunt Liu talk about little rabbits, a small animal like a cat or dog, but she had only heard of them and never seen one at Rose Manor.
The little girl sniffled, sneaked a glance at Shen Hanzhi, and said softly, “I’m not a little rabbit either. I’m Little Jin.”
Shen Hanzhi was amused by the little girl. She looked at the little white rabbit in her arms and smiled, “I mean you’re as cute as a little rabbit.”
“Are little rabbits cute?” the little girl murmured to herself. Afraid Shen Hanzhi would think less of her for not even knowing what a rabbit was, she stopped talking.
Shen Hanzhi looked down at the little girl in her arms, the smile on her lips never fading. A soft, sweet little rabbit should be held and cuddled.
While they talked, Shen Hanzhi had already carried the little girl to the second floor. She brought her to the room next to the original body’s, placed her on the bed, and said, “The wedding dress must be uncomfortable, right? I’ll get you some pajamas. Wait for me a moment.”
Shen Hanzhi’s tone was gentle, easing some of the little girl’s fear.
She secretly looked around the room’s furnishings: a large double bed, a custom wardrobe and desk neatly arranged across from it, and a big window on the side with no bars outside. It was countless times better than her small attic room.
Thinking of what Aunt Liu had told her, the little girl’s face turned red again. Aunt Liu had said that after marriage, her wife would sleep with her, hold her, and kiss her, and that would make her wife happy. Aunt Liu said if she was obedient, her wife would like her.
But now that the moment had come, the little girl felt at a loss. She had never been kissed before. How would Sister kiss her later? Blushing, she could not figure it out.
Shen Hanzhi returned to the original body’s room, scanned it, and saw a door on the left side. She opened it to find the original body’s walk-in closet. She located the pajama section, which had several new silk nightgowns, likely for the original body. Nearby, she also found a few cartoon-patterned nightgowns with cats and rabbits.
Thinking the little girl could wear them, Shen Hanzhi grabbed one and opened its packaging. She saw the rabbit nightgown was made of nearly transparent gauze, with barely any fabric at key areas. Even as a single person, Shen Hanzhi sensed something was off. These were probably intimate nightwear prepared by the original body’s perverse tastes.
She hurriedly stuffed the nightgown back into its bag and returned it to its place. No way could she let the innocent little white rabbit see these.
But after searching, Shen Hanzhi found that the original body’s nightgowns were mostly gray, black, or dark green silk. There were no cartoonish pajamas or nightgowns at all.
Shen Hanzhi sighed, deciding to buy some for the little girl tomorrow. She grabbed two silk nightgowns, a black one for herself and a dark green one for the little girl.
When Shen Hanzhi pushed open the door, she saw the little girl looking at her with wide eyes. Upon seeing her, the little girl’s whole face turned red, like a cooked shrimp.
Shen Hanzhi found it both funny and endearing. Why did the little girl get so shy just seeing her?
She walked over in a few steps, reached out to pat the little girl’s head, and said softly, “Change out of that dress first. It’s too cumbersome. I’ll help you unzip the back.”
Shen Hanzhi had struggled with her own zipper earlier and thought it might be hard for the little girl, so she decided to help directly.
She pulled the little girl closer, letting her lean against her, and used her right hand to unzip the back. The little rabbit’s delicate, fair waistline gradually appeared. Shen Hanzhi glanced a few times and then looked away. As expected of the heroine, her skin was truly flawless.
The little girl felt a cool breeze on her back but did not push Shen Hanzhi away. Aunt Liu had said she knew nothing, and on the first night of marriage, she should obediently listen to her wife. That way, her wife would pity her and might care for her more in the future.
Thinking of Aunt Liu’s words, though trembling with fear, the little girl complied. Aunt Liu was the only person in her life who never lied to her or mocked her.
The little girl did not push Shen Hanzhi away, but her hands nervously gripped the fabric of Shen Hanzhi’s nightgown at her waist.
Shen Hanzhi felt it and soothed her gently, “Alright, I’ve unzipped the dress for you. Can you change into the nightgown yourself?”
The little girl looked up into Shen Hanzhi’s eyes, her eyes red as if she might cry the next second. After a moment, she nodded obediently, pursed her lips, and said nothing. Aunt Liu had said that after marriage, her wife was her closest person. Letting Sister see her change clothes should be normal, right?
The little girl took a deep breath, mustered her courage to take off the wedding dress, and then looked up to see Shen Hanzhi had already turned her back, no longer looking at her.
Sensing the little girl’s hesitation, Shen Hanzhi explained patiently, “I’m turning away so you won’t feel shy. Change your clothes.”
The little girl felt warmth in her heart. As she changed, she thought about what Aunt Liu had taught her. Aunt Liu was so right; she felt Sister was a very good person.
