After Transmigrating Into a Book, I Was Forced to Play the Role of a Scumbag Alpha (GL) - Chapter 9
Chapter 9
Shen Hanzhi returned to her room, took a shower, and dried her hair. Then she lay back on the bed. Finally, Shen Hanzhi had time to carefully think about the fact that she had transmigrated into this book. The female lead of this book was the little white rabbit sleeping in the room next door.
Shen Hanzhi searched the original body’s memories and found that the original body did not know the male lead. This meant the male lead might not have appeared yet. Shen Hanzhi let out a slight sigh of relief.
Her overall task was to accumulate Scum Alpha points, ensuring one point per day. Based on today’s experience, Shen Hanzhi felt the Scum Alpha points were quite manageable. However, she absolutely refused to mimic the original body’s behavior.
Next was the company. The Shen Corporation, under the original body’s control, covered many sectors in Nandu City and ranked among the top three companies in the city. The original body usually delegated tasks to subordinates. At her position, overseeing the big picture was enough.
In her previous life, Shen Hanzhi had her own company, though it focused on the catering industry and was far smaller than the Shen Corporation. Fortunately, she could read various reports, so even having just transmigrated, she would not let subordinates fool her.
Shen Hanzhi thought she would handle company matters according to the original body’s principles, controlling major decisions. More importantly, she needed to build a good relationship with the little girl, the book’s female lead. As long as she accumulated enough Scum Alpha points, she could divorce the little girl after a year and enjoy life freely.
By then, she would be free in this world, with money and looks, able to do whatever she wanted. Even if she sold the company and squandered money daily, the wealth would last her several lifetimes.
Shen Hanzhi thought about this, feeling delighted. As long as she avoided falling out with the female lead and took good care of her this year, she would not end up driven mad by Wen Jin and Liang Shuo.
Thinking of this, Shen Hanzhi felt truly tired and fell asleep beautifully without realizing it.
On the other side, the little girl initially slept restlessly. This was a completely unfamiliar place. Although the room was large, and the bed and pillows were more comfortable than those in the attic, the little girl could not help feeling scared.
But she had been up since early morning preparing for the wedding and was exhausted. She fell asleep without knowing when.
When the little girl woke again, daylight streamed in brightly. She rubbed her eyes in confusion, propped herself up, and leaned against the headboard cushion. Her thoughts slowly returned.
She had married Sister and left Rose Manor, leaving that cramped attic. Now she was in Sister’s home.
Wen Jin felt the wound on her heel; it seemed less painful than yesterday. She looked nervously at the door, wanting to go find Shen Hanzhi.
But her experiences at Rose Manor made her不敢 do so. The little girl got out of bed herself and obediently washed up in the bathroom as Shen Hanzhi had taught her yesterday.
After tidying herself, the little girl opened the room’s curtains. A flood of sunlight poured in, unobstructed by bars, instantly lifting her mood.
She lingered by the window for a while, but her stomach growled loudly. Her ears turned slightly red; she felt that going to find Sister like this would make Sister dislike her.
The little girl rolled on the bed twice, her heart feeling like it was being scratched by a kitten’s claws. She eagerly wanted to see Shen Hanzhi.
Back in the attic, only Aunt Liu would visit her and talk to her. Now, in this new place, Wen Jin only knew Shen Hanzhi, and she missed her a little.
While the little girl rolled in the quilt, Shen Hanzhi had finished washing up, changed into casual clothes, and stood at the little girl’s door. She knocked lightly, “Little Jin, are you awake? Can I come in?”
The little girl’s eyes lit up when she heard Shen Hanzhi’s voice. She quickly got out of bed, smoothed her nightgown, and said, “Yes, Sister, come in.”
Shen Hanzhi received confirmation, turned the doorknob, opened the door, and saw the little girl standing obediently by the bed, her eyes fixed on her.
Seeing the little girl had not changed clothes, Shen Hanzhi smiled, “I forgot to get you clothes. Want to check my room? Wear whatever you like.” She beckoned to the little girl.
The little girl quickly walked to Shen Hanzhi, her hands nervously clasped together. Would Sister not hug her today?
As the little girl’s thoughts wandered, Shen Hanzhi took her wrist.
Afraid the little girl was not used to the new environment and might feel scared in an unfamiliar place, Shen Hanzhi held her hand and led her next door.
Shen Hanzhi did not notice that after she took the little girl’s hand, the little girl’s eyes sparkled, staring at her wrist. Sister was holding her hand and walking with her!
Shen Hanzhi did not think much of it. She brought the little girl into her room, walked to the door on the left, and opened it. The walk-in closet’s sensor lights turned on automatically.
Shen Hanzhi let go of Wen Jin’s hand, “Go see what you want to wear. This afternoon, I’ll take you to the mall to buy more.”
The original body’s height was about the same as Shen Hanzhi’s in her previous life, around 172 cm. The little girl was 165 cm, so the seven-centimeter difference was not much, but Shen Hanzhi’s clothes would still be ill-fitting on her.
The little girl timidly looked at the dazzling array of clothes in the closet, her hands nervously clasped together. She sneaked a glance at Shen Hanzhi’s expression, saw she was not angry, and boldly grabbed Shen Hanzhi’s wrist, shaking it gently, “Sister, I don’t know which to choose. Can you help me pick?”
Aunt Liu had said that acting coy with her wife would make her wife like her more.
Seeing the little white rabbit’s soft, sweet demeanor, Shen Hanzhi’s heart nearly melted. How could she not help?
She smiled, reached out with her other hand to ruffle the little girl’s hair, and said softly, “Okay, I’ll pick for you. How about a dress?”
The little girl nodded obediently. She was not picky about clothes. In the attic, she wore many hand-me-downs from the maids. In that small space, beauty or ugliness did not matter; not being cold was good enough.
Seeing the little girl nod, Shen Hanzhi turned into the closet and picked out a white cinched-waist long dress. After a moment’s thought, she also grabbed a bra.
Shen Hanzhi glanced at the little girl’s chest and felt her bra might be a bit small for her.
She cleared her throat and said, “This bra might be a bit small. Make do with it for now. We’ll buy new ones when we go shopping this afternoon.”
The little girl blushed, took the clothes, and looked up at Shen Hanzhi, “Shopping? Am I going too?”
Shen Hanzhi smiled and replied, “Of course you’re going. We’re buying clothes for you, so you need to try them on to see if they fit.”
The little girl’s eyes dropped, not daring to meet Shen Hanzhi’s gaze. Like she had done something wrong, she said timidly, “Sister, I’ve never been shopping. Will I cause trouble for you? Will I embarrass you?”
Shen Hanzhi understood Wen Jin’s concerns. The little girl had grown up in a confined environment. Shopping, a small thing to most people, was a huge deal for someone who had never gone out. She would feel anxious about the unknown, but this step had to be taken. Shen Hanzhi could only try to ease her worries and protect her.
Shen Hanzhi stepped closer, tossed the clothes onto a nearby chair, wrapped her arms around the little girl’s slim waist, and pulled her into an embrace, soothing her gently, “Everyone has many firsts in life. That’s normal. If you bravely try, you’ll find the things you worried about aren’t a big deal and can be overcome easily. Little Jin, remember, you’ll never be a bother to me. Didn’t I say? You’re my little wife.”
The little girl buried her head in Shen Hanzhi’s shoulder, held in her arms and soothed with gentle words. The little rabbit sniffled, and tears started falling. She loved how Sister comforted her.
Shen Hanzhi soon noticed the little rabbit was crying; her clothes on the left side were wet. She meant to comfort her, so why did she make her cry?
Doubting her comforting skills, Shen Hanzhi quickly patted the little girl’s back and asked softly, “Why are you crying suddenly? Are you unhappy about something? Can you tell me? Is it because you don’t want to go shopping? If you don’t want to, I can buy things online for you. It’s okay.”
Shen Hanzhi blamed herself for being too hasty. The little white rabbit had never been anywhere but Rose Manor. Suddenly saying they would go shopping must have scared her.
The little girl whimpered in Shen Hanzhi’s arms for a while, sniffled, and looked at Shen Hanzhi with red eyes. Seeing Shen Hanzhi was not angry, she rubbed against her chest, “Sister, you’re so nice. I’m not afraid. With you, I’m not afraid.”
Seeing the little girl calm down, Shen Hanzhi reached out to pat her head and said softly, “Good, change your clothes first, and I’ll take you downstairs for breakfast soon.”
“Can I go downstairs?” the little girl asked instinctively, stunned for a moment.
“Of course you can. This is your home. You can go anywhere. After breakfast, I’ll show you around,” Shen Hanzhi said gently, coaxing her.
Hearing the gentle voice in her ear, the little girl felt her legs go slightly weak. She loved how Sister held and comforted her.
Seeing the little rabbit stop crying, Shen Hanzhi gently patted her back.
The little girl leaned in Shen Hanzhi’s arms for a while, regaining strength in her legs before standing slightly, “Sister, I’ll change now.”
“Okay, I’ll wait outside. Come out when you’re done,” Shen Hanzhi said, walking out and closing the door for the little girl.
