- Chapter 2 - Peach Cloud Mist Tea
“The taxi driver asked, “Where to?”
“Tianshui International.”
Li Chu blurted it out, then paused.
This was the address that popped into her head when she thought of where she lived, complete with the unit and room number, but everything else was blank.
The taxi driver didn’t notice her strange expression. He was likely a beta, so he couldn’t smell her scent and didn’t give her a strange look.
Li Chu let out a sigh of relief, instinctively touching the back of her neck, which was throbbing slightly.
Having read the entire novel, she naturally knew what was happening. She took a photo with her phone, and when she saw the teeth marks on the picture, her hands trembled slightly.
Li Chu was utterly depressed. This feeling of holding the script only to find the beginning had been drastically rewritten was harder than starting a game with just a dog and relying on sheer luck for equipment.
After arriving at her destination, Li Chu sprinted all the way home, then collapsed onto her large bed, continuing her self-pity.
She was exhausted both physically and mentally, but the soreness in her thighs and the swelling in her absolute territory made her uncomfortable. She reluctantly got up and went to the bathroom to take a shower.
The bathroom mirror clearly reflected the marks on her body. Li Chu almost choked. How could the female lead, who looked like a gentle, classical beauty, be so fond of biting people?!
She dared not look further, and was too embarrassed to look at her absolute territory. She quickly rinsed away the stickiness between her legs and cleaned herself in a hurry.
Li Chu collapsed onto the bed, wrapping herself in the blanket. She wanted to sort out the current situation, but the female lead had turned into an alpha and had briefly marked her, giving her a headache.
She sniffled and drifted into a deep sleep.
While she was asleep, Ning Manqing’s agent had already broken down the door.
Ran Yanru knew Ning Manqing was going to the appointment, but when she found she hadn’t been able to contact Ning Manqing all night and morning, she rushed over.
Her face changed immediately when she entered, and she kept the assistant she brought outside. As an alpha, she naturally smelled the thick intertwining scents of alpha and omega pheromones in the room. She initially thought she had come to the wrong place, but when she saw Ning Manqing lying on the bed, she knew she hadn’t.
A surge of anger rose in her chest. The thought of Ning Manqing suddenly differentiating and being taken advantage of by some alpha made her want to kill someone.
She walked closer with a heavy heart, and then her expression gradually turned strange.
Wait… it seems her own artist had suddenly differentiated into an alpha and taken advantage of an omega?
Ah, this… Ran Yanru looked at Ning Manqing with a heavy heart, conveying her condemnation with her eyes.
I didn’t think you were this kind of person!
The feeling of amusement lasted only a moment. When Ran Yanru found Ning Manqing unresponsive and running a high fever, she immediately helped her dress and rushed her to the hospital.
Li Chu slept from morning until evening, but her sleep was uneasy. A jarring screech of tires and the loud crash of vehicles suddenly jolted her awake, her forehead covered in cold sweat.
It took her a while to remember that she had transmigrated into a book. The memories from before she slept resurfaced, along with the original host’s memories.
In terms of background, the original host was a somewhat unfortunate person.
Her father died in an accident at a construction site when she was four, and she and her older brother were raised by their mother. Although times were tough when she was little, her brother dropped out of middle school to work and help the family finances, so she didn’t have a very difficult life.
However, in her last year of high school, her brother ran up gambling debts, took the family’s savings, and disappeared, leaving her and her mother to face the creditors.
The creditors were all neighbors and fellow villagers. Out of consideration for the original host being a high school senior close to the college entrance exam, and because the original host’s mother kept pleading with them, they didn’t push too hard. Nevertheless, the original host was greatly affected. Her grades were already mediocre, and the resulting score was just enough for a normal teachers college in the province.
The original host didn’t particularly like studying. She didn’t want to repeat the year; she just wanted to finish university quickly and start working to pay off the debts. She had started school early, so she was only twenty years old during her third-year internship.
She worked as an intern teacher in a rural primary school, where she encountered a turning point in her life.
Director Yan Xing was a relatively well-known director in the industry. He was filming a movie that had a supporting role—a rural female teacher—but he couldn’t find a suitable actress. He felt none of them fit the image he wanted. However, upon seeing the original host, he immediately decided she was the one, even though she was an outsider.
Being a celebrity was naturally better than being a rural teacher. To be honest, she didn’t have much acting skill, but she was essentially playing herself in the movie. After the film was released, she gained some fans, was signed by her current company, and officially entered the industry.
But aside from that movie, her performances in her other few TV dramas were not very good. However, she was ambitious. She resented and saw Ning Manqing as her lifelong enemy because Ning Manqing, also a newcomer, played the female lead in that same film. Afterwards, Ning Manqing was steady and reliable in every role she took, gaining a good reputation. In comparison, the original host appeared mediocre and lacking.
Her plan this time—drugging Ning Manqing and preparing to take photos—was to threaten Ning Manqing into giving up the female lead role in a movie. She had a grand plan: she could not only coerce Ning Manqing into handing over this resource but also threaten her for others, like variety shows, and even leech off her fame.
After processing these memories, Li Chu felt that it was no wonder this person became cannon fodder.
Not only was her character poor, wanting to use underhanded means to threaten people, but she was also quite stupid. Would those resources achieve the same success in her hands as they would in Ning Manqing’s? Instead of focusing on improving her acting, she resorted to such crooked ways. Of course she’d fail! It’s a good thing she didn’t plan to use any sexual favors, or Li Chu would be even more distressed.
However… in the original host’s memories, she was a beta, so why did Li Chu turn into an omega?
This question, along with why Ning Manqing differentiated into an alpha, was unsolvable, and Li Chu decided not to think about it.
Li Chu thought about acting and felt a little worried.
In her past life, she was just a makeup artist with broad interests. Although she was semi-connected to the industry, she hadn’t received any related training.
The faint stinging at the back of her neck still reminded her of how things had gone off track. She buried her face into the bed in despair.
In the original plot, Ning Manqing differentiated into an omega, perfectly compatible with the male lead. The story was sweet, charming, and thrilling as they dated, acted, and leveled up. But now, Ning Manqing had become an alpha, and had… an encounter with her…
Thinking of the feeling of that Cloud Mist Tea pheromone being injected into her body, Li Chu couldn’t help but bite her tongue.
She shouldn’t have been nervous and had a brain-short circuit, drinking that cup of water. It would have been better to pour it out, but there was no turning back now.
She cried internally, bawling in her heart. She didn’t want to get mixed up with the female lead, Ning Manqing. She just wanted to quietly be a slacker and retire from the industry!
Li Chu dejectedly flipped through her phone. Her agent had already given up on the original host and was in a semi-abandonment state. The original host hadn’t had any work for half a month, and the agent hadn’t contacted her much.
There was nothing but some spam messages on her phone, but the surveillance camera connected to an app had recorded many things.
Li Chu choked on her own saliva, coughing until her face was red. She originally wanted to turn it off, but… it was actually a little bit attractive.
