After Transmigrating into a Scumbag Alpha, I Had a Happy Ending with the Heroine (LILY , ABO) - Chapter 13
Why did Song Qin Ning stop replying to Jiang Qing’s messages?
Heaven knew, the earth knew, and Song Qin Ning knew.
Maybe others knew as well, but one thing was certain: Jiang Qing had no idea.
She could not figure it out.
If Song Qin Ning had never sent that picture, and if she had blocked Jiang Qing from seeing her social media, then with time, Jiang Qing would have understood what she meant.
But Song Qin Ning had not cut her off completely.
Was it because she did not want to burn bridges and hoped they could still meet on good terms in the future?
Or was it simply an act of kindness, not wanting Jiang Qing to be overwhelmed by public scrutiny?
Whatever the reason, her silence made Jiang Qing feel there was something deeper going on.
It did not seem like she was being ignored just out of annoyance.
In the past, if someone read her message and did not reply, Jiang Qing would have immediately called them out for being unreasonable and then blocked them without hesitation.
She was not the kind of person who had the time or interest to guess what was going on in someone else’s head.
But Song Qin Ning had just stood up for her during a storm of public criticism. That alone made Jiang Qing feel more warmly toward her.
Even if she did not reply, Jiang Qing could understand.
After all, that was still far better than people who were cheerful in good times and disappeared when trouble came.
So Jiang Qing decided to take the first step and talk to Song Qin Ning.
She knew that, based on Song Qin Ning’s personality, she might be able to approach her the right way.
Opening their chat, Jiang Qing quickly typed with flying fingers:
“Miss Song, I know I should not disturb you, but I just want to say one thing. I will not bother you anymore. I hope that without my annoying messages, you can feel more at ease and be truly happy. Please don’t worry about me. I will not be sad. After all, I have made many mistakes. This is what I deserve.”
Song Qin Ning had her phone right next to her, and she saw the message the moment it came in.
Not be sad?
She stared at it in silence. In her mind, Jiang Qing’s eyes appeared — slightly misty, clear but filled with hurt. The image was completely out of place, yet it surfaced anyway.
Shaking away the thought, Song Qin Ning looked to the side.
Not far away, a thin report on ABO compatibility sat on the table.
The pages had clearly been flipped through.
Her eyes were hesitant, but her fingers moved and typed a short message:
“As long as you want to change, it is never too late.”
Jiang Qing’s lips curved slightly into a soft smile. She quickly replied:
“Thank you, Miss Song. You are so kind, treating me without holding a grudge. But you don’t need to hide it from me. I don’t expect you to forgive me, because I know you still dislike me.”
Another message came, not quickly, but it arrived.
“I do not really dislike you. I have noticed the changes you have made.”
“Really? But you haven’t talked to me recently. I thought I did something wrong.”
She added a meme of a little kitten crying while poking a finger.
Song Qin Ning’s fingers hesitated for a moment. Her feelings were complicated, her eyes deep and unreadable.
A few minutes later, Jiang Qing received another message from her.
“You did not do anything wrong. I told you before, I don’t like being too close to Alphas.”
Jiang Qing replied with a question mark.
She opened her browser and searched for related terms.
After a few minutes, she came back to the chat and typed cautiously:
“So… does this mean even chatting with me online counts as being too close?”
Song Qin Ning did not respond right away.
In the end, she never explained why she had not replied to Jiang Qing’s messages.
But after their conversation, Jiang Qing could sense that Song Qin Ning’s attitude toward her was not one of hatred or irritation.
In fact, her words carried an awkward sincerity.
So Jiang Qing reluctantly accepted Song Qin Ning’s explanation about keeping distance from Alphas.
And honestly, keeping things as they were might not be a bad idea.
After all, a little distance can make things more beautiful. With a bit of space between them, maybe they could even get closer, despite once being enemies.
At the edge of the white bed sheet, an arm hung down, covered in small red marks.
A woman’s voice rang out. It was sharp and sweet, like a mix of pleading and teasing.
“Young Master Sun, can we stop for today? You are too much for me to handle. I really cannot take it anymore.”
Sun Haoyi frowned in frustration.
“It is still early. How can you be done already? I am not finished playing.”
The woman, soft and pliant like a snake, climbed onto his shoulder and whispered in his ear, her breath warm.
“Let’s continue later, alright? I am yours anyway, Young Master Sun. I am not going anywhere. You can do whatever you want with me later.”
Sun Haoyi was pleased by her words but felt annoyed that they were not getting to the point. He reached over to the nightstand, picked up a pack of cigarettes, lit one, and exhaled a heavy puff of smoke.
Through the swirling haze, he played with her delicate hand and asked with a meaningful look:
“So, what should we play now?”
Behind him, the woman’s gaze landed squarely on the shiny bald spot on Sun Haoyi’s head.
Taking advantage of the fact that Sun Haoyi could not see her expression, the woman let a look of disgust and contempt flash across her face. She fought the urge to pull her hand away.
Softening her tone, she said, “By the way, Young Master Sun, there’s something I wanted to talk to you about.”
Sun Haoyi asked, “What is it?”
The woman quickly wiped the look off her face and sat up beside him.
Her eyes shimmered with a mix of grievance and flattery. Her hands twisted together as if she was too embarrassed to speak.
“It’s about that role played by Song Qin Ning. I really want it. Can you help me get it, Young Master Sun?”
Sun Haoyi’s look of pleasure immediately froze, and his expression darkened.
Holding his cigarette, he snapped, “You have the nerve to ask? Director Chen has the final say on that project. I pulled a lot of strings just to get you an audition. And you? You’ve got no acting skills but still dared to fight for the role. You getting rejected was expected.”
Huang Huijun was so scolded that she didn’t dare to breathe. She lowered her head, her eyes filled with unwillingness and hatred.
If she had known earlier that Sun Haoyi was so useless he couldn’t even get her the supporting female lead, she would never have climbed into his bed.
He was just a bald, middle-aged man in his thirties. Who did he think he was?
Though she didn’t dare show her anger to Sun Haoyi on the surface, deep down she hated him.
And not just him. She hated Song Qin Ning too.
Song Qin Ning was younger, more talented, and a much better actress.
Compared to her, Huang Huijun had no advantage whatsoever.
But playing a supporting role to Song Qin Ning? She could not accept that.
Who did Song Qin Ning think she was?
It was like stomping her face into the ground.
If only something bad could happen to Song Qin Ning.
Sun Haoyi, too, was filled with bitterness and resentment.
That night at the cocktail party, he had made a complete fool of himself. He became the laughingstock of the entire industry, the kind of gossip people shared for entertainment.
He was so humiliated, he had avoided going out in public for a long time.
The more he thought about it, the angrier he became. Without realizing it, he gripped Huang Huijun’s hand harder and tighter.
It wasn’t until she cried out in pain that he snapped back to his senses.
No. He couldn’t just let this go.
He couldn’t touch Jiang Qing, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t deal with Song Qin Ning.
That night, Song Qin Ning had just been lucky. He would not let his prey escape again.
With his mind made up, Sun Haoyi shoved Huang Huijun aside.
Amid her soft, flirtatious cries, he pounced on her once more.
