After Transmigrating into a Scumbag Alpha, I Had a Happy Ending with the Heroine (LILY , ABO) - Chapter 3
Sun Haoyi stood frozen for a moment, stunned by Jiang Qing’s bluff. When he finally snapped out of it, Jiang Qing was already gone. Left standing alone, he became the center of mocking stares from the nearby wealthy socialites. He looked just like a clown on stage.
His chest filled with rage. He cursed under his breath, and despite the lingering doubt Jiang Qing’s words had left in him, he refused to let it show.
Even if he wasn’t fully convinced by her claim, he knew better than to mess with the Jiang family. Still, unwilling to let the night end like this, he scanned the room with a cold, predatory gaze, searching for his next target.
That was when his eyes landed on Song Qin Ning.
There had always been plenty of rumors about her in the entertainment circle. Some were true, some fabricated, but Sun Haoyi didn’t care about any of that.
All he knew was that Song Qin Ning had no powerful backing. That was enough for him. He believed she was someone he could bend to his will.
“Miss Song, long time no see.”
Song Qin Ning recognized him as an investor from a brand she had once worked with. She gave a polite nod.
Sun Haoyi took the opportunity to move closer.
He tapped his fingers on the edge of the table casually and said, “That commercial you filmed recently for GG wasn’t bad. I think it has potential to go viral.”
Song Qin Ning didn’t want to engage with someone like him. She replied lightly, “Thank you for the kind words.”
But Sun Haoyi suddenly changed his tone. “The thing is, I have a friend who’s also interested in being the spokesperson for that brand. So now I’m a little stuck.”
Song Qin Ning remained calm. “If the GG brand breaks the contract, they will have to pay compensation.”
“That’s not much money,” Sun Haoyi said, chuckling. “I value loyalty and relationships. Money doesn’t matter when it comes to friends.”
“On one side is a dear friend. On the other is Miss Song, who has a strong image and broad appeal. I’m really in a difficult position here.”
Song Qin Ning’s complexion was smooth and flawless, like the surface of a peeled egg. Just looking at her made Sun Haoyi’s heart stir.
He had never tried someone like her before. An Alpha who carried herself with cold grace, untouchable like a fairy who had never set foot in the mortal world.
The colder she was, the more it triggered his deep desire to conquer.
He wanted to take her completely, to leave a mark on her body that would remind her she belonged to him.
Sun Haoyi lowered his voice and leaned in toward her ear. “But if Miss Song is willing to consider…”
A vase of flowers on the table partially blocked Song Qin Ning’s right-side view. Taking advantage of her blind spot, Sun Haoyi reached his hand around, aiming toward her lower back.
Before he could touch her, a silver fork flew through the air and hit him squarely on the hand.
The fork clattered to the floor with a sharp metallic sound.
Sun Haoyi howled in pain, clutching his hand.
Jiang Qing stepped forward with long strides. Her expression was ice cold as she pulled Song Qin Ning behind her.
“Where do you think you’re putting that filthy hand?”
The commotion drew attention. People nearby began watching, some openly, others subtly. Whispers and murmurs spread throughout the crowd.
Sun Haoyi, already guilty, felt like he was being publicly humiliated. His face burned with shame. Though most had only come out of curiosity, he felt as though a spotlight had been cast over his disgrace.
He glared at Jiang Qing, his voice sharp. “What nonsense are you talking about? I didn’t do anything.”
“If you’re not sure what you did, we can always check the security footage,” Jiang Qing replied with a smile that didn’t reach her eyes.
Her dark gaze held an intensity that was hard to ignore. Though she looked like just another pretty young woman, there was something dangerous in her presence that made Sun Haoyi pause.
Ridiculous.
Was he really intimidated by this girl?
Fueled by alcohol and humiliation, Sun Haoyi lost control. In that moment, he completely forgot who Jiang Qing was. He released his pheromones in an aggressive show of dominance, trying to suppress her.
The sharp, suffocating scent of cilantro filled the air, laced with force and hostility. Several nearby Omegas were immediately overwhelmed.
They doubled over in pain, clutching their heads and dropping to the ground under the Alpha pressure.
One Omega, who was allergic to cilantro, reacted even more violently. She threw up her dessert in a mixture of acid and cream, creating a mess on the floor.
Song Qin Ning had taken a Beta pheromone inhibitor before attending the banquet. The serum neutralized all Alpha and Omega scents, allowing her to pass for a Beta and remain unaffected by pheromones.
Though she couldn’t smell anything, she quickly realized what was happening.
Before she could act, Jiang Qing’s Alpha instincts responded to the threat. Without thinking, her body released its own pheromones in defense.
A warm, sweet scent filled the room. It was soft but incredibly powerful, completely smothering the harsh cilantro odor.
The calming scent floated gently in the air like mist, carrying a soothing effect. It entered everyone’s lungs and helped the distressed Omegas slowly relax.
Song Qin Ning didn’t realize Jiang Qing was the one releasing the pheromones, but when she saw the others’ expressions ease, she breathed a sigh of relief.
Suddenly, she caught a faint trace of grass and leaves.
It was a subtle, clean scent, different from the roses on the table. It brushed lightly past the tip of her nose and stirred something deep inside her.
A tingling sensation ran down her spine like a current of electricity. Her breathing grew rapid, and a warm blush spread across her neck.
Her legs gave out beneath her, and she nearly collapsed, but Jiang Qing reacted quickly and caught her just in time.
Knowing the female lead was an Alpha and probably didn’t like close contact with other women, Jiang Qing tried to steady her gently and pull away.
But just as she was about to let go, Song Qin Ning’s weight sank against her again, falling into her arms completely.
The icy scent from before matched her frosty expression, but the body in Jiang Qing’s arms was soft and warm, not rigid like other Alphas.
The crown of her head pressed gently against Jiang Qing’s neck. Her breath was warm and tickled Jiang Qing’s skin.
Jiang Qing quietly lifted her other hand and nudged Song Qin Ning’s head just a little to the side, so she would not rest too close to the sensitive area near her gland.
Nearby, Sun Haoyi’s face turned pale.
That sweet scent now felt like poison, suffocating him with every breath. His lungs burned as if they were bleeding. He gasped for air, eyes bulging, mouth twitching like a fish out of water.
All he could manage were ragged, choking sounds.
The local pheromone patrol team arrived after receiving a report that someone had deliberately released aggressive pheromones in a public space. They moved in swiftly and restrained Sun Haoyi.
Only then did Jiang Qing retract her scent.
She had adapted quickly to this world. Like a native Alpha, she instinctively knew how to control her pheromones down to the finest trace.
When she turned back, she saw that Song Qin Ning had already stood up. A rare blush colored her pale cheeks, giving her a hazy beauty like a flower glimpsed through mist.
Perhaps embarrassed by her earlier reaction, Song Qin Ning took a subtle step backward to put distance between them.
“Are you alright?” Jiang Qing asked.
“I’m fine. Thanks to you,” Song Qin Ning replied. She poured herself a glass of cold water and drank deeply.
The refreshing liquid slid down her throat and helped ease the heat in her body.
After setting down the glass, she looked at Jiang Qing and asked, “Why did you help me?”
Although Jiang Qing had just saved her, Song Qin Ning still held a trace of caution in her eyes.
That wariness, paired with her stunning face, confirmed what Jiang Qing had already suspected. The cold beauty in front of her was indeed the female lead, Song Qin Ning.
Thinking back to their earlier encounter, Jiang Qing couldn’t help but admire how composed Song Qin Ning had been. Even when faced with her supposed enemy, she had still offered her a tissue.
She really did live up to her status as a main character.
If the situation had been reversed, and Jiang Qing were Song Qin Ning, she probably would have taken a photo of her rival’s wet, miserable appearance and waited for the next scandal to break.
Now that was petty revenge.
Jiang Qing didn’t think this kind of thinking made her a bad person.
After all, the female lead had lost several film roles and endorsements because of the original Jiang Qing, totaling at least tens of millions. That was a conservative estimate.
Jiang Qing truly admired Song Qin Ning and didn’t want to stay on bad terms with her.
Besides, forming a good relationship with the female lead meant she would not only gain a stunningly beautiful best friend but also lose a sworn enemy. It was the perfect win-win situation.
Jiang Qing couldn’t help but mentally give herself a thumbs-up.
She was brilliant.
With that thought still in her head, she looked at Song Qin Ning and said, “I came over to apologize. What happened in the past was my fault.”
After a short pause, she added, “I’ll also find a way to make up for the roles and endorsements you lost because of me.”
Song Qin Ning said nothing.
Their eyes met, and Jiang Qing had the distinct feeling that the female lead was silently insulting her.
Since the thought was already in her mind, she decided to just ask directly. “Are you quietly cursing me in your head right now?”
The blunt question caught Song Qin Ning off guard. She paused before saying, “No. I was just wondering if you’re pretending to be nice to lower my guard so you can dig up dirt on me more easily later.”
Jiang Qing stared at her. What a naive woman.
“Dirt can be fabricated. I don’t need you to lower your guard first.”
Song Qin Ning’s eyes widened slightly, as if to say, “I knew it. You really are a horrible person.”
Jiang Qing was about to explain, but another voice cut in.
“Thank you for earlier.”
It was the delicate Omega girl who had reacted badly to Sun Haoyi’s pheromones. She had come over to thank Jiang Qing personally.
Jiang Qing accepted the gratitude graciously and said it was the right thing to do.
After all, no decent person would sit back and watch an Alpha recklessly release pheromones, harming others just to vent his anger.
The little Omega was petite, no taller than a middle schooler. She was adorable and at that impressionable age where anyone heroic seemed like a goddess.
“Your pheromones were amazing,” she gushed. “They smelled like candy, but the power behind them was incredible.”
The little Omega continued talking nonstop. She praised Jiang Qing’s sweet yet strong pheromones, then launched into a scathing rant about Sun Haoyi and his disgusting behavior.
At the end of her monologue, she flagged down a server and asked them to bring two servings of high-end dessert to both Jiang Qing and Song Qin Ning.
“This is a members-only specialty from this place. It’s my treat,” she said with pride.
Neither Jiang Qing nor Song Qin Ning had a chance to say much. The entire moment was handled completely by the enthusiastic young girl.
Unable to refuse her heartfelt gesture, they both expressed their thanks.
After the girl left, Jiang Qing was just about to continue explaining when Song Qin Ning suddenly said,
“I remember you said in an interview that your pheromones smelled like green tea. Not sweet.”
Jiang Qing froze.
Right. That.
In the original novel, Jiang Qing wasn’t the protagonist, so there wasn’t much detail about her pheromones. The scent was never clearly described.
But Jiang Qing herself was not native to this world. She was a human with no pheromones. The scent her new body released should not have changed on its own.
She could only assume Song Qin Ning had remembered it wrong.
“Are you sure? My pheromones have always smelled like this.”
Song Qin Ning replied firmly, “I’m sure. I have a good memory. It was during a video interview with Mr. Florent this March.”
Jiang Qing said nothing.
It was clear Song Qin Ning wasn’t lying. Which meant the original Jiang Qing really did have a green tea–scented pheromone signature.
Her certainty made Jiang Qing begin to suspect that her own arrival in this world had changed the body’s pheromone scent.
But telling the truth, that she had transmigrated into a book?
She might end up in a lab, dissected for science and national contribution.
Jiang Qing couldn’t come up with a convincing excuse and fell silent.
As the silence stretched on, both women seemed lost in thought.
Then two voices rang out at the same time.
“That interview was fake. I made it up.”
“Did you go through a second differentiation?”
“So you were lying on the program,” Song Qin Ning said calmly.
“Yes. I’m not actually green tea–scented,” Jiang Qing admitted. She blinked, and the dimples in her cheeks appeared as she smiled. “I hope you’ll keep it a secret for me.”
Song Qin Ning was not interested in why Jiang Qing had lied during that interview.
What intrigued her more was something else.
“Shouldn’t you be threatening me right now? Like you used to? Saying if I expose anything, you’ll take away my roles or endorsements?”
Jiang Qing didn’t answer directly.
She happened to remember something she saw on social media the day before. It was a news piece about an Alpha trying to rob another Alpha. The legal ruling had impressed her, and it seemed fitting for the situation.
So she quoted it word for word.
“According to Article 201 of the Human Rights Association, Alphas, Betas, and Omegas are all entitled to equal human rights. Since the year 2212, if an Alpha threatens another Alpha or a Beta, it will be treated the same as threatening an Omega. Violators of the law can be detained for three days.”
She finished with a satisfied nod.
“In the past, I didn’t know any better. But now I want to be a law-abiding citizen.”
Song Qin Ning was left speechless.
The power of the law truly was extraordinary.
