- Chapter 25 - When the Flowers Bloom
“She liked Xue Cheng’s scent, and she loved the passion of their tangled lips and tongues.”
******
Liu Wuyuan rolled over and looked at the troubled little Alpha kneeling beside the bed. It was hard to imagine such a restrained and well-behaved Alpha existing in the world. Xue Cheng seemed to have none of the aggression that came with being an Alpha. Even if Xue Cheng hadn’t stopped halfway through and had kept going, Liu Wuyuan would have been willing.
She liked Xue Cheng’s scent, and she loved the passion of their tangled lips and tongues. It made her feel like she wasn’t just a wisp of dandelion fluff floating in the air; she had landed on solid ground. Her soul now had weight, and her life had an anchor.
Since she couldn’t speak, she propped herself up and moved closer. She cupped Xue Cheng’s chin and lifted the clean, delicate face of the little Alpha. The slaps she had given herself were hard enough to leave clear marks on her cheeks. For once, Liu Wuyuan felt a pang of sympathy. She felt like she was corrupting this pure, honest little Alpha, like she was staining a flawless piece of white paper.
Her thumb rubbed Xue Cheng’s slightly swollen lips. The little Alpha tried to speak, but the slender thumb prevented her from opening her mouth. She could only look up at Liu Wuyuan with wide, innocent eyes.
Sometimes a height difference can feel oppressive, but Liu Wuyuan was a slender, delicate Omega. All Xue Cheng felt was that every inch of this face was perfect, a masterpiece carefully sculpted by the heavens. The pure-hearted Alpha was so captivated by this face that she completely forgot her current predicament.
Liu Wuyuan’s fingertips trailed down from Xue Cheng’s chin to her throat, where she lightly scraped the Alpha’s unpronounced Adam’s apple with a bent finger, feeling it bob up and down as Xue Cheng swallowed. Her fingers then slipped into her collar, sliding over her collarbones. Without saying a word, she was telling Xue Cheng through her actions that she didn’t need to worry about her “offense” because she hadn’t considered it one. In fact, at that moment, the one being “offended” was Xue Cheng herself, the very person who thought she had been the offender.
An unspoken tension swirled between them. As Liu Wuyuan’s fingers moved more boldly, Xue Cheng swallowed repeatedly, her heart pounding so fast it felt like it would leap out of her throat.
When the finger slid below the collarbone, just as it was about to climb the “mountain,” Xue Cheng suddenly grabbed Liu Wuyuan’s hand. Goosebumps rose on her skin, and sweat trickled down her side. She was about to be driven insane by Liu Wuyuan. She admitted that her reason was about to raise a white flag and surrender.
Of course, Xue Cheng finally understood what Liu Wuyuan meant. Every action, every glance, every breath, was sending Xue Cheng a clear message. It was a simple three words: “I want to.”
Xue Cheng had accurately received the signal. She was hesitant, but she also felt an urgency, like an arrow already on the bowstring.
Xue Cheng sat up, thought for a moment, and said, “I… I’m not very good at this…”
As she spoke, her eyes darted around, afraid to make eye contact with Liu Wuyuan or to look at her tempting body. Seeing her evasive manner, Liu Wuyuan pursed her lips. She couldn’t help but turn her head and let out a small laugh.
Xue Cheng wasn’t annoyed at being laughed at. She really had no experience and was afraid she wouldn’t perform well, and that Liu Wuyuan wouldn’t enjoy it.
Liu Wuyuan smiled, then tapped her own lower lip, motioning for Xue Cheng to stop talking and just kiss her. As an Alpha, she should take the initiative. Xue Cheng understood this. Now that she had Liu Wuyuan’s permission, she no longer hesitated, and leaned in to kiss her.
With mutual consent, everything happened naturally. It was a lovemaking that flowed like water into a channel. Although it was their first time being intimate, they were in such perfect harmony it was as if they had practiced it a million times.
Lost in passion, Xue Cheng buried her face, savoring the soft sweetness of milk and cotton candy. Her tongue curled around the tip of her br3ast, and a sweet scent filled their mouths. Her slick skin was caressed, sending shivers through her body.
Liu Wuyuan gripped the quilt, which was embroidered with a pair of mandarin ducks playing in the water. Her other hand went to the back of Xue Cheng’s head, as if she wanted to push her away or urge her to stop lingering on the mountain that was melting from the heat. Xue Cheng decided to move on, as the scenery along the way was so beautiful she had almost forgotten her destination.
Her inexperienced kisses landed one after another. Liu Wuyuan felt like she was a lava-filled pastry. When Xue Cheng bit into her, a milky, cotton candy flavored filling oozed out, filling their mouths. The greedy little Alpha ate bite after bite, savoring it over and over.
At first, she was messy, and the filling would spill out and stain half her face. But she eventually became skilled at devouring the filling in a single gulp.
The moon rose and the sun set. The last trace of yellow vanished from the sky, replaced by the inky black of night.
With a flushed face, Xue Cheng got up and threw on an outer robe to boil some water. She then wiped Liu Wuyuan down and carried her to her own bedroom to sleep. Liu Wuyuan’s bed was in a chaotic state, with the “filling” having soaked the blankets. With a look of utter contentment, the little Alpha was willing to clean up the mess.
After stripping the bedsheets to wash and dry, she finally had time to clean herself up. By the time she returned to the room, feeling fresh and clean, Liu Wuyuan was already wrapped up in the blankets, sleeping soundly. Xue Cheng carefully lifted a corner of the blanket and lay down. The next second, the soft, sweet beauty rolled into her arms all on her own.
Xue Cheng grinned, a silent, goofy smile on her face. Even now, she felt like she was in a dream. She quietly reached up and pinched her cheek. The pain reminded her this wasn’t a dream. The fact was, she and Liu Wuyuan had truly made love.
She thought back to the time since she had been reborn into this book. They went from being strangers to building trust and planning their future together. Although they had never explicitly stated their feelings, Xue Cheng knew she had fallen for her long ago. Her fear of being chopped up and fed to dogs had vanished at some point. Ever since their first bond, she hadn’t said anything, but she had already drawn a circle in her heart, and Liu Wuyuan was the one she had placed inside that circle to be cherished.
What happened today was a mix of Liu Wuyuan’s deliberate seduction and Xue Cheng’s own uncontrollable passion.
Before she fell asleep, Xue Cheng decided that as soon as she woke up, she would confess her origins to Liu Wuyuan, officially express her feelings, and promise to take responsibility for everything. Despite being from the modern world, the pure-hearted Alpha was a very traditional person in some ways. A relationship should begin with a formal confession, ideally with flowers and a romantic candlelight dinner. While it might be hard to recreate a modern scene, the sense of ritual was still important. This was a bit like getting on the train before buying a ticket, but Xue Cheng thought at least she was willing to give her heart.
Daybreak, the crow of a rooster, the clamor of the morning market pouring into her ears.
Xue Cheng woke up and instinctively reached for the person next to her, only to find the space empty. She clearly remembered falling asleep with a delicate beauty who smelled of milk and cotton candy in her arms.
The little Alpha let out a discontented “Hmm.” She was alone. Reaching out, she felt that Liu Wuyuan had already gotten up and left. The other side of the bed was cold.
She shook her head to clear it, got up, dressed, and opened the door. No one was in the courtyard. Liu Wuyuan’s door was wide open. Xue Cheng walked over and saw that the room was empty. They had just had a deep connection yesterday and had formed a temporary bond. Xue Cheng couldn’t wait to be close to her again.
She searched the house and found no one. Maybe Liu Wuyuan had gone out to do something. Xue Cheng brushed away her disappointment and got a basin of water to wash her face. She wasn’t sure when Liu Wuyuan would be back. She usually didn’t like to go out, and when she did, it was just to buy groceries. Xue Cheng figured she’d be back soon.
She knew she had business to attend to at the shops, but for some reason, she desperately wanted to see Liu Wuyuan today. Even if they didn’t say anything, just seeing her would be enough. So Xue Cheng sat idly on the doorstep, resting her chin in her hands, staring blankly at the front gate. She was already thinking about what expression and posture she would use to greet Liu Wuyuan when she opened the door.
She also remembered her plan from last night. She would go to the shop, finish her work early, buy a bouquet of flowers, and come back to make a delicious dinner. Oh, and a gift! Should she buy a jade hairpin or a bracelet? If it was a token of their love, maybe she should buy a matching pair—one for herself and one for Liu Wuyuan.
She must have been lost in thought for a long time. It wasn’t until her stomach grumbled in protest that Xue Cheng realized she hadn’t eaten since she woke up. She was starving. Without a watch, Xue Cheng couldn’t be sure how much time had passed, but based on her usual breakfast time, it was already late. It was much longer than Liu Wuyuan usually spent outside.
Xue Cheng started to worry, afraid that Liu Wuyuan had run into trouble. The more she thought about it, the more scared she became. She quickly got up to go look for her.
Just then, Liu Wuyuan pushed open the gate and walked in.
Xue Cheng rushed to her, grabbed her hand, and asked anxiously, “Are you okay? What took you so long? Did you run into trouble outside? Did someone bully you?”
Liu Wuyuan was taken aback by the barrage of questions. Then, with a wry smile, she patted Xue Cheng’s hand, signaling her not to be so anxious. But Xue Cheng still looked her over from head to toe, front and back, several times. Only when she confirmed there was nothing wrong with her did she finally relax.
She stared at her with the miserable eyes of a puppy, as if accusing her of being an irresponsible owner who had abandoned her at home to wait anxiously.
Liu Wuyuan didn’t know how to explain that she hadn’t felt well when she woke up today. Her scent gland was swollen, and her waist and legs were sore. The area down there, in particular, felt like it had been overworked. She wasn’t actually in her heat, so her recovery wasn’t that quick. She had initially thought about waiting for Xue Cheng to wake up and ask her to buy her some medicine, but then she felt too embarrassed. So, she went out herself to find Miss Zhu at Guang’an Hall to get her pulse checked. She was prescribed some ointment, which she applied in a back room. After waiting a while and feeling less uncomfortable, she slowly walked back home.
On the way, she thought Xue Cheng would probably ask where she had been when she woke up and couldn’t find her, so she bought some fresh vegetables and two pounds of pork.
She handed the vegetable basket to Xue Cheng. Next to it was a bag of steamed buns, wrapped in a cloth to keep them warm.
Xue Cheng said, “You just… why didn’t you wake me up to go buy it?”
