- Chapter 26 - The Morning After
She wanted to drain Xue Cheng of his Alpha pheromones, so he couldn’t go out and flirt with other people.

The moment the question left her mouth, Xue Cheng wanted to slap herself. Her mouth was running ahead of her brain, and her brain couldn’t catch up. An awkward silence filled the air. Liu Wuyuan glared at her, her beautiful face instantly flushing red. Even a person as composed as her couldn’t maintain her cool, so she stomped on Xue Cheng’s foot and ran back into her room, her face crimson.
The door slammed shut with a “bang,” separating the two people who were about to die of embarrassment. Xue Cheng scratched her head in frustration, then picked up the vegetable basket and went to start cooking. Inside her room, Liu Wuyuan was using the back of her hand to cool her flushed cheeks, secretly cursing the little Alpha for being so shameless.
The little Alpha, who was being cursed for being shameless, was staring at the footprint on her shoe, giggling foolishly to herself, like a big idiot.
They had been living together for a while. Although Liu Wuyuan usually did the cooking, Xue Cheng had picked up a few small dishes from observing her. After what had happened the night before, Xue Cheng was not shameless enough to let Liu Wuyuan slave away in the kitchen to make lunch for them.
After the food was ready, Xue Cheng poked her head out of the kitchen and glanced at the closed door. She wasn’t sure if Liu Wuyuan was really angry, so she quickly served the dishes and carried them to the dining room. Then, she hurried to Liu Wuyuan’s door, timidly raised her hand to knock, cleared her throat, and said with a hint of guilt, “Wife, dinner’s ready…”
After a moment, Liu Wuyuan opened the door. Seeing Xue Cheng’s shifty-eyed and evasive look, Liu Wuyuan was both annoyed and amused. She wasn’t truly angry, but she just wasn’t sure how to face Xue Cheng. What had happened yesterday was so natural, but now their relationship was strangely awkward. They were a married couple in name, yet they were essentially strangers. This Xue Cheng had been living under the same roof with her for two months, wearing the skin of the original person.
Living together day and night, Liu Wuyuan found it hard to deny that she had developed feelings and a curiosity for her. Her active seduction yesterday was certainly due to her attraction, but it was also fueled by Xue Cheng’s innocent actions, and then her sudden retreat poured salt into the wound, causing Liu Wuyuan to lose her cool and insist on pulling her into the heat of passion.
They had never revealed their backgrounds to each other, much less expressed their vague feelings. Yet they had shared an intimacy reserved for the closest of couples. It was a complete mess, tangled and impossible to untangle.
Xue Cheng felt a wave of relief when Liu Wuyuan agreed to come out to eat. This must mean she wasn’t mad. Her mind raced. Did this mean she had performed well yesterday? Why couldn’t she tell if Liu Wuyuan was satisfied from her expression? It was her first time, after all. Xue Cheng told herself it wasn’t about her pride; she just wanted to make sure the person she had “served” hadn’t had a bad experience. But Xue Cheng was too embarrassed to ask. It was just too awkward.
So she just followed Liu Wuyuan around like a pathetic puppy, occasionally giving her a look of hopeful praise during dinner. Liu Wuyuan pretended not to notice. That shameful topic was in the past, and she certainly wasn’t going to bring it up herself. She was so calm that Xue Cheng was baffled, unable to determine if her performance had been good or so terrible that Liu Wuyuan couldn’t even be bothered to comment.
Seeing her almost frantically scratching at her ears and cheeks, Liu Wuyuan smiled inwardly, but her face remained expressionless. She even put a pork trotter on Xue Cheng’s plate with her chopsticks.
Xue Cheng’s eyes widened. What did this mean? Was she suggesting that she needed to “eat a trotter to build up her own trotters”? Was she saying her skills were bad? Enraged, Xue Cheng took a fierce bite of the pork trotter. Fine. If that was the case, she would eat a little more to build herself up. One day, she would show this woman just how good she could be.
Chewing on this thought, Xue Cheng ate more than half the pot of pig trotters. As an Alpha, she had expended a lot of energy the day before, so her appetite was naturally huge. Liu Wuyuan didn’t usually eat a lot of meat, so she only ate a few bites, mostly focusing on the vegetables.
They finished the meal, each lost in their own thoughts. Afterward, Xue Cheng, as usual, was in charge of cleaning up. Liu Wuyuan went to the yard and touched the blankets and sheets that were almost dry. When Xue Cheng returned from washing the dishes, she saw her holding the bedding, ready to go back to her room. He wanted to help, but he stopped. For some reason, he felt incredibly awkward today.
He went to his room to change and wash up, getting ready to head to the shop. Before he left, he went to say goodbye to Liu Wuyuan. Liu Wuyuan was still feeling a little uncomfortable and was lying lazily in bed. But the clean bedding, which had just been dried in the sun, had none of Xue Cheng’s familiar lime scent on it. She regretted being so quick to make the bed. Now she had no excuse to sleep in Xue Cheng’s room.
The fact that these two people, who had been so intimate the night before, couldn’t even openly claim Xue Cheng’s bed put Liu Wuyuan in a bad mood. When she saw Xue Cheng poking her head into the room and saying, “Um, I’m going out now?” even Xue Cheng didn’t know why she had used a question mark. She just felt like she needed Liu Wuyuan’s permission to leave.
In her bad mood, Liu Wuyuan didn’t want him to leave. They had been so close last night, but now they were acting like strangers. So she reached out from under the blanket and crooked her little finger at Xue Cheng.
To be honest, this gesture would usually be seen as a challenge by most Alphas, but Xue Cheng was not “most Alphas.” She wasn’t annoyed in the slightest. In fact, she grinned and eagerly trotted over to the bed. Like a good, docile little puppy, she knelt down, placing both her hands on the edge of the bed.
She asked, “What is it?” The end of her voice rose, and her eyes crinkled with a smile.
Liu Wuyuan, who had been feeling a bit down, saw his expression and felt a warm breeze blow through her heart, smoothing out all her frustrations. Looking at the well-behaved little Alpha, she was no longer angry. Instead, she reached out and started rubbing Xue Cheng’s scent gland through the suppression patch.
It came so suddenly that Xue Cheng was unprepared. Her legs went weak, and she almost fell, but she steadied herself by leaning on the bed. Her puppy dog eyes were blinking, misty with confusion. The innocent Alpha asked softly, “What’s wrong?” The tone was completely different from her previous question. The first was cheerful and excited, while this one was timid and a little hurt.
Even when being “bullied,” she didn’t fight back. She just asked pitifully, “Why are you bothering me?”
Liu Wuyuan smiled a seductive smile, which made the little Alpha’s head spin. Her hands didn’t hold back at all. She ripped off the tightly-stuck suppression patch. Her fingertip tapped the scent gland, which was slowly waking up. Once the familiar lime scent wafted out, she closed her eyes in satisfaction and took a few deep breaths.
When she had gone to see Miss Zhu earlier, the doctor had told her that after a couple marks each other, they would become somewhat dependent on each other’s pheromones. However, this phenomenon was more obvious in Omegas. This answer seemed unfair to Liu Wuyuan. The lovemaking was a consensual act, and while the little Alpha had done a lot of the work, they had both had a good experience. Why was she more dependent on the Alpha who had marked her, and not the other way around?
She wondered if she should find a way to make this Alpha more dependent on her, to make her unable to leave her. Or maybe she should just tie down this naughty little Alpha. Her thoughts grew more and more dangerous, and her hands became bolder and bolder. She kept “bothering” Xue Cheng until the girl was whimpering, but she didn’t dare resist. She let Liu Wuyuan keep playing with her pheromones.
The lime scent poured out as if it were free, filling the entire room with Xue Cheng’s smell. Liu Wuyuan closed her eyes and inhaled the delicious scent of her obedient puppy, feeling completely satisfied. She had squeezed the scent gland so dry that it was now deflated, and not a single drop of lime scent could be squeezed out. Only then was she satisfied, and she patted Xue Cheng’s cheek, signaling that she could go out and take care of her business.
Liu Wuyuan then rolled over and buried herself in the blanket to catch up on sleep. She had woken up early and was not feeling well, so she let out a sleepy yawn and immediately fell into a deep slumber. She was happy to be accompanied by her favorite lime scent even in her sleep.
The little Alpha, whose legs and waist were aching from being “bothered,” took a long time to get up off the floor. Her eyes were red, and she pouted a little, but she didn’t dare disturb her wife’s sweet dreams. She left the room with a very light touch, closing the door carefully. In her heart, she felt a little regretful that she hadn’t gotten to smell the milk and cotton candy scent. She felt it was a little unfair. She had been “bothered” to the point where she couldn’t produce any more pheromones, yet Liu Wuyuan had been stingy and hadn’t let any of her milk and cotton candy scent out.
She had a vague understanding of Liu Wuyuan’s strange behavior. It was likely the possessiveness of an Omega kicking in because she was about to go out. By draining Xue Cheng of her pheromones, she was making sure Xue Cheng couldn’t go out and get into trouble with anyone else. She wanted Xue Cheng to belong completely to her. Realizing her bedmate’s domineering nature, Xue Cheng wasn’t displeased at all. Instead, she felt a different kind of sweetness.
At the shop, everyone saw her looking so happy and couldn’t help but let their imaginations run wild. After all, the original owner had a reputation for being a playboy, and many people thought Xue Cheng was just putting on a show for the grandmother. They believed that deep down, she was still the same philandering Alpha.
One of the spies secretly hired by the other family branches, who was quick to gossip, ran off to deliver a message. He exaggerated and added his own details, saying that Xue Cheng didn’t show up until noon today, probably because “a short night of passion” had kept her busy.
It didn’t take long for the news to reach her grandmother. One of the gossips who didn’t want Xue Cheng to succeed went to the grandmother to complain. The grandmother had been using her illness as an excuse to avoid people, but someone had the audacity to come and speak ill of Xue Cheng right to her face. Looking at her younger daughter, the grandmother sighed. It was her fault for being too busy with business in her younger years and neglecting her children’s upbringing. Aside from the eldest, the other children had all turned out poorly.
Xue Lingyu, unaware of how foolish her mother thought she was, spoke with great enthusiasm, as if she had witnessed everything herself.
“Mother, you don’t know, this A-Cheng’s wife is of unknown origin and is so immature. She’s keeping her Alpha at home, and living such a debaucherous life. What will become of her?” She hadn’t spoken ill of Xue Cheng directly, but a couple was considered one entity. If Xue Cheng’s wife was a bad person, then Xue Cheng couldn’t be far behind. She was subtly trying to brainwash the grandmother into giving up on the idea of entrusting the family business to Xue Cheng.
