Amnesiac Yandere Ex-Wife Always Wants to Remarry - Chapter 2
Chapter 2: The Doggy Kiss
Having gotten the answer she wanted, Xia Pingwu left the memorial hall with Ruan Zhujun.
Watching the two figures depart, the bald-headed person couldn’t help but mutter, “Xia Pingwu has really changed a lot. She was so arrogant when she was studying, practically having her tail pointed to the sky, but now…”
Someone chimed in, “Well, she was bedridden for seven years, and I heard she can only be active at night. Because of that, Ming Chunshan often doesn’t show up for evening emergency missions. She wasn’t even there when Ning Cong was injured this time.”
“Does the Bureau of Anomalies stop running without them?” Ji Shuo glared, paused, then sneered through gritted teeth, “Besides, even a one-of-a-kind genius ends up in this state.”
The bald-headed person, who was about to say more, suddenly froze and gave Ji Shuo a strange look, then closed her mouth.
She didn’t know if it was her imagination, but she felt a hint of pity in those words.
Ji Shuo seemed to realize her tone was off and quickly tried to smooth things over: “Ming Chunshan, too. Such a bright future, yet she insists on treating Xia Pingwu like a supreme being.”
No sooner had she spoken than the memorial hall door was suddenly pushed open from the outside. A gust of chilling wind swept in, causing the memorial plaques on the altar to sway back and forth.
Everyone looked towards the doorway. Pale white light spilled in from outside, coating the outline of the newcomer in a dark silhouette. The person wore a black overcoat, and their eyes, lifted to look at them, were full of coldness:
“Dare to let me hear you gossip about my Elder Sister again, and you’ll regret it.”
Ji Shuo’s face instantly darkened, and she immediately lifted her chin, ready to argue, but Ming Chunshan impatiently cut her off, getting straight to the point: “Elder Sister is where?”
Her eyes were like knives, so substantial they made people instinctively want to look away.
A terrified intern, crouched in the center of the crowd, tentatively looked up and answered, “Just… just left.”
As soon as the words were out, the black coat spun around and vanished like the wind, not sparing a glance for the huge memorial hall behind her.
Since it was a rare outing, Ruan Zhujun and Xia Pingwu weren’t in a hurry to return, and the two walked together toward the bamboo grove behind the building.
The back of the memorial hall was planted with many bamboos, making it very quiet and suitable for a walk.
After a brief silence, Ruan Zhujun finally couldn’t resist speaking: “Xia Pingwu, you can finally get up now. What are you planning to do next?”
“My body can no longer participate in combat, and I don’t plan to return to the Bureau of Anomalies,” Xia Pingwu knew what Ruan Zhujun was worried about and reassured her, “Besides, Ming Chunshan wouldn’t agree to me going back.”
Ruan Zhujun immediately nodded, then looked hesitant, “What about Aunt Ming?”
“I’ll only focus on saving my people. As for everything else Aunt Ming says, I’ll ignore it; I won’t listen,” Xia Pingwu’s voice was soft, but her tone was firm. “I only hope to maintain the current balance and don’t want to get involved in the conflict between the two sides.”
“Yes, your Mistress has been dead for so many years, and yet Aunt Ming still refuses to submit,” Ruan Zhujun sighed. “But it’s true, the current leaders rely too much on pollution value assessments. Seeing people who were fine one moment being sentenced to death no one can feel good about that.”
Realizing she had unintentionally spoken her mind, she quickly stopped herself: “But it’s better if you don’t get involved; otherwise, it would be difficult for Ming Chunshan, too.”
“I know,” Xia Pingwu smiled. “I just need to pretend to cooperate with Aunt Ming. However, if Aunt Ming asks me to do more, I won’t.”
Ruan Zhujun nodded, profoundly agreeing.
Pingwu had finally gained hope of recovery; there was no need for her to be dragged down by these messy matters.
She pulled Xia Pingwu, walking towards the entrance: “Let’s not talk about this anymore. I’ll take you back. The inhibitor injection upstairs should be finishing up, and Ming Chunshan should be heading home soon.”
Just as she finished speaking, her voice suddenly caught.
Although they were still some distance from the main entrance of the memorial hall, they could already see the black car parked there.
It was extremely familiar; it was the exact car Ruan Zhujun had just mentioned Ming Chunshan’s vehicle.
Ruan Zhujun instinctively remarked, “Why did that fellow come chasing after us again?”
At the same time, a shadow suddenly moved near the side of the black car. Ming Chunshan, who had been leaning against the car door, seemed to have spotted them and was quickly walking over.
The newcomer was tall, with slightly upturned eyes. The black overcoat was casually undone, and the wind generated by her steps faintly ruffled the hair at her temples.
As the person got closer, they could clearly see the graceful, muscular lines faintly visible beneath the fitted wool sweater.
But none of this was the main point.
Ruan Zhujun clearly saw that the moment the person spotted Xia Pingwu, a smile immediately appeared on her usually reserved face.
Ming Chunshan practically rushed over, raising her voice to call out:
“Elder Sister!”
Xia Pingwu was older than Ming Chunshan, and both were raised by the previous team leader, so the form of address had continued to this day.
The next moment, Ming Chunshan squeezed forward, forcefully inserting herself between the two, before saying:
“Elder Sister, I’m here to take you home.”
Ruan Zhujun rolled her eyes, not having heard Ming Chunshan’s nauseatingly gentle voice in a long time. She nudged Ming Chunshan with her elbow in annoyance:
“Even if you hadn’t come, I would have sent Pingwu back safely.”
“Alright, having her delivered into my hands counts as sending her home,” Ming Chunshan jutted her chin towards the memorial hall. “That place is too inauspicious, so I won’t go. You can say goodbye to Ning Cong for Elder Sister and me.”
Just as Ruan Zhujun was about to leave, Ming Chunshan added another line: “I already lectured Ji Shuo and the others, so don’t mind them. Thank you for taking care of Elder Sister. When we get back, I won’t partner with you for a month.”
“That’s generous,” Ruan Zhujun waved her hand, then, remembering something, turned back, circling to Xia Pingwu’s other side.
“Speaking of which, if you don’t plan to return to the Bureau of Anomalies, our alma mater is looking for graduates to come back for a speech. Do you want to check it out?”
Ming Chunshan’s instinctive attempt to refuse for her Elder Sister suddenly stopped. Xia Pingwu gave Ruan Zhujun a knowing wink and pursed her lips: “You go first; we’ll talk about this another time.”
Having achieved her goal, Ruan Zhujun didn’t linger and quickly disappeared.
Here, Xia Pingwu slowly retracted her gaze, subtly looking sideways to see Ming Chunshan staring at her, her eyes bright: “Elder Sister, are you really not planning to go back?”
She curved her lips, smiling faintly: “I’m really not going back.”
Seeing Ming Chunshan’s taut shoulders finally relax, Xia Pingwu paused, then used her beautiful, emotionless eyes to look back as nonchalantly as possible:
“But Chunshan, are you not going to commemorate her this year, either?”
Ming Chunshan paused, the hand resting on Xia Pingwu’s shoulder involuntarily stiffening. She pretended to be casual:
“It’s enough that you go.”
Xia Pingwu gently coaxed: “Then can you tell me what exactly happened in that last major battle that made you hate her so much?”
Ming Chunshan fell silent. Just then, the two arrived at the car. She smoothly opened the door, expertly guiding Xia Pingwu into the passenger seat. Then, while circling to the driver’s seat, she replied lightly:
“You know, she never had eyes for me, her daughter. She’s probably overjoyed to not see me after death.”
Xia Pingwu was slightly stunned. Then, she saw Ming Chunshan, who had already settled in the driver’s seat, turn sideways, carefully helping her pull the seatbelt across, being careful not to crush her curled long hair.
Because of the movement, the two were close, their breaths mingling. Ming Chunshan suddenly lifted her eyes, looking directly into Xia Pingwu’s clear eyes:
“Besides, taking such good care of her favorite apprentice is also a form of filial piety.”
Xia Pingwu knew she was just joking, but she couldn’t help but worry.
Ming Chunshan and the Mistress had always been at odds, but she had always thought it was just mother-daughter friction, not a big deal.
However, now that Aunt Ming had proposed bringing Chunshan into this plan, and insisted Ming Chunshan must have discovered something during that final major battle, it made her very uneasy.
She didn’t want Chunshan to be in danger. She hoped Chunshan could be a dazzling Anomalist her whole life, live with dignity, and preferably not die.
Ming Chunshan looked down at her, a hint of unhappiness in her eyes. She lowered her voice, speaking sullenly:
“Stop talking about my mother, okay?”
After a pause, she softened her voice, deliberately curving even her sharp brows, and leaned in intimately:
“See, you and Ruan Zhujun secretly came out today without telling me, and I’m not even angry with you.”
Xia Pingwu sighed, not looking at Ming Chunshan.
But even without looking, she knew.
Ming Chunshan was definitely looking at her with curved eyes right now, deliberately dragging out her tone, like a fluffy puppy, acting spoiled towards her.
Just like countless times before.
But this time, that feeling of being unable to grasp the situation arose in her heart again. She wanted to stand her ground.
So, she kept her head down, her gaze fixed on Ming Chunshan’s fingers resting on her seatbelt, remaining impassive.
At this moment, Ming Chunshan leaned in even closer, her warm breath completely unconcealed as it fanned Xia Pingwu’s face:
“Elder Sister, look at me.”
Xia Pingwu naturally knew what she wanted to do, but she didn’t look up. Instead, she took advantage of the close distance to quietly say:
“Chunshan, you can’t always live in the past…”
But before she could finish, Ming Chunshan had already pressed against her, and a restrained yet lingering kiss immediately surged forth.
Lips and teeth intertwined, saliva exchanged, making a smacking sound. Xia Pingwu subconsciously tried to pull away, but a strong hand cupped the back of her head, deepening the kiss.
Ming Chunshan’s other hand wrapped around her waist, leaving no gap between them.
Xia Pingwu, however, was a little preoccupied.
While skillfully responding, she was slowly thinking.
Never mind. If she can’t find out from Chunshan, she can ask Aunt Ming again.
Thinking this, her hand already instinctively gave Ming Chunshan’s chest a gentle push.
Ming Chunshan slightly released her strength, gazing at her with condensed focus, her voice indistinct, suppressing immense desire: “Elder Sister?”
She saw Xia Pingwu’s clear eyes, her heart sank, and she pouted again: “You promised Mother that you would depend on me.”
“Let’s go home.”
Xia Pingwu only replied,
“I promise you, I’ll stay home and be good.”
Ming Chunshan finally let go, a hint of hurt on her face:
“I was wrong, Elder Sister. I’ll listen to you. I just… just love you so much. You have to believe me, I only do this for your own good.”
