Amnesiac Yandere Ex-Wife Always Wants to Remarry - Chapter 3
Chapter 3: The Divorce Agreement
Xia Pingwu didn’t like this kind of conversation.
It was sticky, tangled like messy threads, with too much emotion and too little reason.
She simply frowned slightly, then looked away.
Fortunately, an urgent communication chime rang, interrupting the messy exchange.
…Thank goodness.
Unexpectedly, Ming Chunshan showed no sign of moving, continuing to stare at her with heavy eyes.
Unable to do anything else, Xia Pingwu continued to look out the window, pretending not to notice, gazing at the shadows of the bamboo on the ground.
The bamboo shadows were lush, making her eyes feel slightly blurry, and she actually drifted off into thought.
She wondered, after all this time, had Ning Cong… survived?
Before she could find an answer, Ming Chunshan finally straightened up, frowned, and reached into the storage compartment to pull out a pair of glasses.
Xia Pingwu recognized them; they were the communicators used internally by the Bureau of Anomalies.
The next moment, the glasses automatically unlocked via biometric verification. Ming Chunshan spun her finger, lightly placing them on the bridge of her nose.
The earpieces were designed with bone conduction, allowing them to be used as headphones.
At the same time, a small, bolded box, labeled Bureau of Anomalies, automatically popped up diagonally on the lens.
This was also a security measure.
Whenever members of the Bureau of Anomalies initiated communication, they would use this encrypted channel.
Xia Pingwu averted her eyes and pressed a button on the vehicle’s control panel. A subtle isolation shield quickly rose, separating her and Ming Chunshan.
This was the third layer of security.
Ming Chunshan turned her head to glance at Xia Pingwu, seeing that she was no longer looking out the window but was supporting her head and pretending to doze. A pang suddenly clenched her heart.
They both understood the intent behind this series of security actions.
The intention of Elder Sister’s actions was even clearer.
She had truly decided not to go back.
While contemplating, Ming Chunshan tapped the “answer” button. A familiar voice came through:
“Team Leader Ming, the detection station suddenly picked up an abnormal signal. An Anomaly has dug a tunnel underground and burrowed into the wall.”
Ming Chunshan composed her expression: “The mountain wall is dug quite deep, and inhibitor is regularly injected. How did that thing dig its way in?”
“…We don’t know. It was already inside the wall when it was observed, so we can only assume it came from outside,” the person paused only briefly, then resumed reporting quickly. “It’s currently been lured to an open area and won’t affect people for now. Residents on the mountaintop have also been temporarily blocked off. The higher-ups want us to resolve this as quickly as possible.”
No kidding, of course they want it resolved quickly.
Ming Chunshan impatiently acknowledged: “Send the detailed information to my glasses. I’ll be there as soon as possible.”
“Team Leader Ming…” the squad member hesitated. “Did you… tell Deputy Xia about this?”
Although Xia Pingwu had retired due to injury, the Bureau of Anomalies had given her the honorary position of “Deputy Team Leader” to recognize her achievements.
It was also a form of comfort for Xia Pingwu.
Everyone in the Bureau knew that Xia Pingwu could walk again this month. As a legendary figure, many actually looked forward to her being able to contribute.
Unfortunately…
“Tell her what?”
The answer was expected, but Ming Chunshan’s tone grew sharper:
“I’m enough for this. Don’t let anyone bother Elder Sister.”
The thought of Xia Pingwu made Ming Chunshan increasingly irritable. Through the rearview mirror, she saw Xia Pingwu hadn’t moved, so she smoothly started the car and sped towards home:
“I’ll be there soon. Hold the line for now.”
Xia Pingwu didn’t ask for any details. Upon arriving home, she quickly changed her clothes and lay back down on the bed.
Ming Chunshan didn’t say a word. She simply leaned over and pressed a button by the bed.
The next moment, two small openings suddenly appeared in the previously bare headboard. Then, two mechanical arms extended from the wall and reached toward Xia Pingwu, who was leaning against the headboard.
Xia Pingwu expertly extended both arms.
The two mechanical arms continued to stretch, eventually revealing a fine needle that obediently hung by Xia Pingwu’s side.
Now, it should be Ming Chunshan’s job.
She was supposed to insert these two needles into Xia Pingwu’s left and right wrists, allowing the “colossus” hidden in the wall to begin its work: replacing all of Xia Pingwu’s Anomaly bl00d to suppress her Anomaly power outburst.
A lasting side effect caused by that final major battle.
But Ming Chunshan didn’t move immediately.
Xia Pingwu looked up, her gaze gentle: “Go on, don’t you have to go to the Bureau of Anomalies?”
Ming Chunshan lowered her voice: “Elder Sister, don’t worry. The laboratory will definitely develop a better inhibitor so you won’t need bl00d transfusions anymore.”
According to the previous treatment plan, Elder Sister had to spend the entire day having her bl00d replaced and could only stop the “purification” when she came home in the evening.
Now, the enhanced inhibitor allowed Elder Sister to occasionally walk, but the time was still too limited. If Elder Sister was exposed to high-intensity Anomaly power, she would even need additional booster shots.
If… she worked a little harder, maybe the higher-ups would see her loyalty and treat Elder Sister better.
Xia Pingwu raised a hand, seemingly wanting to stroke Ming Chunshan’s head, but paused midway, lightly straightening her collar, and replied softly: “You take good care of yourself.”
Ming Chunshan finally stopped hesitating. After disinfecting the area, she carefully inserted the needle tips into both of Xia Pingwu’s wrists.
The detector quickly activated. The Anomaly bl00d was rapidly drawn out, filtered through the purifier behind the wall, and then re-infused into Xia Pingwu’s body.
Ming Chunshan watched the screen display stabilize with various values, then straightened up and said goodbye to Xia Pingwu: “I’m leaving, Elder Sister.”
It seemed sedatives were added during the bl00d transfusion process. Xia Pingwu was visibly sinking into sleep. Hearing her, she mumbled indistinctly: “I’ll wait for you to come back.”
Ming Chunshan carefully closed the bedroom door, then made a gesture toward a corner of the living room before quickly leaving the house.
The Bureau of Anomalies Exclusive Containment Zone.
With a beautiful skid of the dark-colored car, Ming Chunshan tore off her seatbelt and jumped out.
The next moment, dense lines of text displayed on her glasses and began to scroll rapidly, like a book suspended in mid-air.
Anomalies were classified into three grades: A, B, and C, based on the degree of mutation. Since that last major battle, most A and B-grade Anomalies had died, and the remaining Anomalists primarily dealt with low-level Anomalies that hadn’t even evolved to C-grade.
According to the real-time updates from the detection station, this current Anomaly was likely close to B-grade in strength.
It was indeed a bit troublesome.
As Ming Chunshan finished the last word, the equipment vehicle was right in front of her.
She quickly climbed into the equipment vehicle, changed into her battle suit, and when she flipped back onto the field, she saw the squad members encircling the area.
She coldly raised an eyebrow, her sharp gaze sweeping over everyone present, quickly assessing the current situation.
When first discovered, the Anomaly had been extremely aggressive, wildly swinging its claws, seemingly trying to scratch apart everything nearby.
But now, surrounded, it seemed to realize fear, lying prone in the center, yet like a ferocious beast poised to strike, waiting to kill its enemy with a single blow.
Seeing that Ming Chunshan had finally arrived, everyone felt a sense of relief, as if they had found their core leader, though they showed no sign of it.
Meanwhile, the squad member who had contacted Ming Chunshan, Mao Xiqing, was Ming Chunshan’s deputy and currently the most authoritative person in the team.
She now lowered her voice, routinely reporting through the communication earpiece: “The cleanup crew is ready. Team Leader Ruan Zhujun is on standby at all times!”
Hearing this, Ming Chunshan’s hand, which was gripping the gun stock, paused. A nearly inaudible sneer escaped her nostrils, and then she spoke in a low, measured tone:
“No need to be on standby.
“With me here, it’ll be a one-hit kill.
“She can come deal with the aftermath immediately.”
Ming Chunshan’s arrogant voice made Xia Pingwu’s ears tingle. She instinctively rubbed her ear, her gaze calmly fixed on the screen projected by the glasses.
The monitor only showed Ming Chunshan’s silhouette.
A sharp battle suit, a long gun gripped in her hand, thin muscles bulging along her sleeves, containing potential explosive power ready to be unleashed.
Good state.
After silently completing her assessment, Xia Pingwu looked away and examined the other areas on the screen.
The monitor’s coverage wasn’t extensive. Besides the squad members she was already familiar with, Xia Pingwu could only see the Anomaly in the center.
It was hard for her to tell what the Anomaly’s original appearance was. She could only see that its body was covered in long, dense fur. Not only did it cover its skin, but even in this posture, it was impossible to distinguish its head from its tail.
But it didn’t matter. Since it had entered Chunshan’s encirclement, there was basically no chance of survival.
“Team Leader Ming, why is this thing motionless? Is it really B-grade?
“Did the detection station make a mistake?”
Mao Xiqing subconsciously wanted to stop them, but Ming Chunshan had already answered:
“I’ve checked the indicators. It is indeed B-grade.”
But even for a creature poised to strike, it had waited a little too long.
Ming Chunshan was just thinking this when she heard a squad member laugh:
“There are so many of us; there’s no way we can’t kill it. It’s almost dark. Team Leader Ming is anxious to go home.”
Ming Chunshan and Xia Pingwu were the model wives in the Bureau of Anomalies, a fact everyone knew. The squad members, who spent time together day and night, often joked about it, and no one truly held any malice—
The tense atmosphere immediately eased.
But this remark instantly triggered the subtle impatience in Ming Chunshan’s heart. She tightened her grip on the long gun, irritably rubbing the trigger—
She had an unpleasant moment with Elder Sister today, and she didn’t want to be late getting home.
Instead of waiting here, it was better to directly attack and test its strength.
In an instant, she narrowed her sharp brows.
Everyone only saw their team leader suddenly burst forward. The muzzle of the gun arced across the night, sparking a reflection. Then, a silver bullet, carrying a terrifying momentum, flew out.
It was as if something was shattered. In a flash, an overwhelming torrent of contaminants poured out. The contamination value on the detection station immediately spiked to the maximum.
At the same time, in the huge bedroom, Xia Pingwu instantly opened her eyes, staring fixedly at the screen.
What’s going on?
The opponent has such powerful strength!
Xia Pingwu immediately moved her fingers. A long, water-like blue light instantly rippled out from her fingertips.
Then, as if it had eyes, it plunged into the display screen, reflecting the blue light of the screen, seemingly capable of transmitting through the current, beyond the camera.
Yet, within the containment zone—the target of her action—no one noticed. An unusual fluctuation suddenly came from an unknown direction.
They were rapidly adjusting their positions, quickly forming the formation they had practiced countless times:
First was a row of long guns, alert to any movement from the Anomaly.
Behind them, a row of bows and arrows quietly lifted.
These were not traditional bows and arrows, but syringes full of sedatives, waiting to thoroughly incapacitate any creature.
The contaminants were too dense. The enclosed area was like the middle of the night. Ming Chunshan stood at the forefront, reaching out to turn on the searchlight above her head. The blinding light immediately shot out, illuminating the full form of the creature before them:
It was a standing creature with long, disheveled hair.
Long black hair was tangled like seaweed, covering the creature’s face.
Ming Chunshan aimed her gun at the thing, her eyes slightly narrowed beneath her glasses:
“Look up.”
