Are You Allergic To Romance? - Chapter 1
Chapter 1: The Shy Demon
The first time I saw Jing Yuan, I honestly thought she was about to drop dead any second.
The woman standing before me had a face showing severe sleep deprivation as she stared at me.
She was also trailed by two odd-looking ducks.
Fortunately, she was incredibly beautiful, which managed to mask the strange, gloomy aura surrounding her.
And yet, it was that very uniqueness about her that made me—Xie Mianzhi—take the initiative to approach her and ask for help.
To this day, Xie Mianzhi deeply regrets that ignorant move. She should not have, under any circumstance, messed with this “shy” demon.

Mìsōng Town
Mìsōng Town is a small settlement located on the periphery of the Liántán City Sea Area.
Because it borders the far west of the Liàn Sea, the terrain is remote. It only began developing in recent years, so the environment here remains close to its original, pristine natural state.
The town center is a popular retreat for wealthy families seeking peace and relaxation. However, this convenience is limited to the center; transportation in other areas is still quite inconvenient.
Near the coastline, there was a seaside courtyard home. Even though the original owner spent a fortune building this small villa, the government’s development plans did not include this area.
Over time, coupled with the lack of nearby amenities and the scarce population, the house remained largely unoccupied for several years after construction.
The elderly original owner’s children were planning to take her abroad, so she decided that if the house didn’t sell this year, she would simply leave it vacant.
However, the old lady was surprised when a mysterious buyer expressed interest and purchased the villa mid-year. The buyer seemed very fond of the house, which had been fully renovated but never lived in.
The old lady mentioned the surrounding traffic issues and the lack of facilities, but the buyer was willing to accept these conditions.
Soon after, the old lady signed the property transfer with the mysterious buyer and even gave the buyer’s representative a very pleasant “friendship price.”
“Mr. Lu, if you don’t mind me asking, what kind of person is the owner buying this house?” asked the elderly Mrs. Zhong, curious, after signing the contract with the man in the suit.
The man quickly reviewed the contract, then replied with a smile, “She is a very distinguished young lady.”
The old lady nodded. She had spoken to the mysterious buyer on the phone; it was a woman’s voice—cool, terse, and concise.
Based on the man’s description, the owner must be quite young. The elderly lady knew that the daylight hours here are short and the nights are long. Especially during the rainy season, the nights can feel a little eerie and cold.
She, an old lady, was used to living alone here and wasn’t afraid. But if it was a young girl…
“The nights here can be a little…” Mrs. Zhong trailed off. As a seller, she probably shouldn’t say too much, but thinking that the buyer was likely around her granddaughter’s age, she felt compelled to offer a kindly warning.
“Are you concerned about safety?” the man asked with a smile.
“Ah, not exactly. I’m mainly worried that the young lady might be frightened living here. The nights can be a bit… strange and gloomy.”
Mrs. Zhong explained that before she sealed the windows during construction, the sound of the wind and waves at night was truly terrifying, like the wailing of evil spirits in the old films. Of course, it was much better now that the windows were sealed.
The man neatly filed all the documents into his briefcase and responded gently to the kind elderly lady, “Please don’t worry about that. Although our young lady is generally quiet, she is very capable and won’t be scared by these things.”
“Oh… is that so? I was thinking of gifting her Jindou and Yuanbao. They’re excellent guard dogs.” The old lady finished speaking, then brought out two large white ducks with small tufts of gray and green feathers on their heads from the adjacent room.
Mr. Lu was stunned. Were these pet ducks? They were certainly very large.
“Well, after signing this sales contract, I’ll be leaving for my children abroad soon. It’s inconvenient to take these two little treasures with me, so I thought I’d give them to the young lady. They are really smart! Great at guarding the house!”
As the old lady spoke, she placed Yuanbao and Jindou on the ground. It was clear these two large ducks were very well-cared for, with plump, bright, and lustrous feathers.
The ducks, who had been docile in the old lady’s arms, immediately quacked and tried to peck at Mr. Lu’s expensive leather shoes. Luckily, the old lady stopped them.
“…You’ve raised them well, but they are a bit fierce,” Mr. Lu said, looking helpless.
“See? They are excellent guards,” the old lady said proudly. Jindou and Yuanbao had once chased away a small thief trying to steal pomegranates from her yard, making the thief cry and wail.
Mr. Lu stared at the two fierce, large ducks, each wearing a metal tag that read “Jindou” and “Yuanbao” around their necks. After a few seconds of contemplation, he decisively accepted the former owner’s gift.
After all, his young mistress, over the long years of her life, had seemed to develop a quirk in her personality—becoming increasingly introverted (and inwardly flirty). She was talking less and less.
She used to be so clingy when she was a child. Sigh…
Therefore, having two such chattering companions should be a good thing—noisy and less lonely.
Lu Ze, acting as a senior figure, thoughtfully considered his young mistress’s well-being.
He hoped the young lady would enjoy her vacation here. And if possible, finding a companion would be the absolute best!
Otherwise, given his mistress’s personality, she might really experience a long, lonely life as a whale, just like her mother…
Lu Ze murmured to himself, a hint of worry in his thoughts.

The Deep Abyss
At this very moment, in a deep abyss somewhere in the Liàn Sea.
A fearsome shark, approximately eleven meters long with a massive jaw, was slowly swimming in the dark edges of the deep sea.
It was hunting prey that had fled into this domain, intending to use those creatures as appetizers for its dinner.
It believed it had no natural enemies in this area, so it seemed completely unaware of the true danger approaching.
It failed to register the silently motionless, immeasurably black entity beside it, mistaking it for a gigantic dark rock worn smooth by long years in the ocean.
Just as the shark began to swim forward, the black, indescribable form suddenly opened a single massive golden eye. The vertical pupil stared coldly at the oblivious shark.
As the fearsome shark was about to pursue its upcoming meal, the black, eerie creature moved instantly.
In a matter of mere seconds, the shark would no longer be enjoying its dinner.
Fresh internal organs and liver residue hung on the column-like white giant teeth. Only after consuming everything did the dark golden eye, nearly human-height, slowly close, returning to its previous state of silence.
Carrying a hint of cold, sinister contentment.
However, she suddenly felt her eyelid twitching.
Hm… Is Uncle Lu nagging again?
She let out a cold snort, and a few seconds later, submerged into the deeper seabed.
