Are You Trying to Mark Me? (GL, ABO) - Chapter 10
Yu Ran could feel Min Wenyi’s lips against her neck, and she didn’t dare move.
Was it because of the pheromones she accidentally released earlier while reading that steamy fanfiction about herself and Min Wenyi?
Yu Ran was trembling all over with fear. She had been so absorbed in the story that she didn’t even notice she had started releasing pheromones…
This was bad. She was going to be exposed!
Squeezing her eyes shut, Yu Ran didn’t know what to do.
Meanwhile, Min Wenyi leaned in closer, taking a long sniff near her neck before slowly asking, “What kind of body wash did you use today?”
Yu Ran: “…Huh?”
Min Wenyi wrapped an arm around Yu Ran’s slender waist and murmured, “You smell so good.”
Yu Ran’s face turned beet red as she clutched at Min Wenyi’s silk nightgown, struggling to breathe.
“I… I…”
“I’m so hungry.”
Min Wenyi’s crimson eyes locked on Yu Ran’s fair neck as she slowly opened her mouth.
Maybe it was the pheromones, but by the time Yu Ran realized what was happening, Min Wenyi had already bitten down on her neck!
Yu Ran: “!!!”
No way!!!
Summoning strength from who-knows-where, Yu Ran used both hands to push Min Wenyi away.
Min Wenyi stumbled back several steps before falling onto the sofa, staring blankly at Yu Ran.
What just happened?
Why had she wanted to bite her assistant?
Yu Ran clutched her pajama collar as she scrambled to her feet and darted into her room, slamming and locking the door behind her.
The sharp click of the lock jolted Min Wenyi into realizing what she had just tried to do.
She had mistaken Yu Ran for an Omega emitting pheromones… and she had almost marked her.
Min Wenyi tugged at her overheated chest, breathing heavily.
She had been this close to actually biting her…
Yu Ran, on the other hand, didn’t sleep a wink that night.
She ended up taking three suppressants, but even in the middle of the night, she could still vividly recall the sensation of Min Wenyi’s teeth grazing her neck.
If she had been just a little slower… Min Wenyi might’ve bitten her for real.
The sharp instincts of an Alpha left Yu Ran feeling a lingering fear.
The next morning, when Yu Ran saw Min Wenyi coming downstairs as if nothing had happened, she secretly let out a sigh of relief.
“I made chicken sandwiches,” Yu Ran said. “You’re going to the gym today, right? Take them with you to eat on the way.”
Min Wenyi glanced at the plain sandwiches and didn’t look impressed.
“Is there anything else?”
Yu Ran paused, thinking she didn’t want sandwiches. After considering the ingredients in the fridge, she asked, “How about tofu soup?”
“Not in the mood.”
“Light salad?”
“Don’t feel like that either.”
Yu Ran stared at her boss in confusion, completely unsure of what Min Wenyi wanted to eat.
An indescribable emotion lingered in Min Wenyi’s heart. Feeling irritated, she grabbed the matte-finished lunchbox and muttered, “Forget it. This’ll do.”
Then she turned and left the room.
Watching her boss walk away, Yu Ran stared at her empty hands for a long time, lost in thought.
Since Min Wenyi would be out all day, Yu Ran stayed home, busying herself with laundry, cooking, and cleaning. Just after noon, she heard a door opening in the house across the hall.
When she went to check, as expected, Lu An was up.
“What time did you even go to sleep last night?” Yu Ran asked, looking at Lu An’s messy hair with a sigh. “Have you brushed your teeth and washed your face?”
Lu An nodded sleepily, tossing some trash into the nearby bin before turning to ask, “What’s for breakfast?”
With a resigned sigh, Yu Ran replied, “I made sandwiches. I’ll get you one.”
She took a prepped sandwich from the fridge, placed it on a small plate, and set it on the dining table.
Lu An, who had been freeloading meals for the past half month, naturally made himself at home and sat down at the table.
“Is Wenyi not home today?”
“Yeah, she went to the gym.”
“Oh…” Lu An looked at Yu Ran’s expression and asked curiously, “Why does your face change every time I mention Wenyi?”
He was also surprised that the two, who were usually inseparable, hadn’t gone out together.
Yu Ran hesitated for a moment before awkwardly replying, “Last night… Min Wenyi tried to bite me. I pushed her away, and I think she’s still upset about it this morning.”
“Bite you?”
Lu An froze. Was it the kind of “bite” he was imagining?
Yu Ran nodded. “I thought Alphas were supposed to be rational, but Min Wenyi seems especially sensitive to scents. She even told me she was really hungry…”
Despite taking the inhibitors regularly, even if pheromones were released, their scent shouldn’t have been that strong.
Yet, last night, Min Wenyi’s eyes had turned red, and she looked genuinely terrifying.
Pheromones are like poison to Omegas, and to Alphas, they’re not much better.
Before Yu Ran could say anything more, Lu An suddenly stood up with a loud whoosh.
Yu Ran turned around and stared at him, puzzled. “What’s wrong? You’re not going to eat?”
He hadn’t even taken a bite.
Lu An’s eyes sparkled as he stammered, “I-I just remembered I have something urgent to handle. I’ll eat later!”
With that, he bolted out of Yu Ran’s apartment door.
Bang! The door slammed shut, leaving Yu Ran completely bewildered.
What’s wrong with this Lu An?
Meanwhile.
Leaning absentmindedly against a wall in the gym, Min Wenyi was in a daze.
As a celebrity, she had her own private training room. Feeling a bit down today, she stayed in the room alone, staring blankly at the white walls.
Knock knock knock
Someone gently rapped on the glass door of the training room.
Standing by the door was a man in a gray tracksuit. Arms crossed, he leaned casually, his black eyes sparkling like starlight as he gazed at Min Wenyi with a gentle smile.
“Wenyi, what are you doing here all alone?”
Min Wenyi glanced at him and quickly looked away.
Chu Jiazhi—a popular male celebrity known for his gentle and refined looks. He often played soft and elegant characters and had become one of the most sought-after actors in the industry.
Thanks to a historical drama, Chu Jiazhi had earned the title of “Most Eligible Bachelor” of the year.
The “Most Eligible Bachelorette” was none other than Min Wenyi.
“Nothing much. Just resting because I’m tired.”
Min Wenyi brushed her ponytail aside and looked up at Chu Jiazhi. “Why are you here?”
“I happened to be working out and noticed you sitting here for a while, so I thought I’d say hello.”
As Chu Jiazhi walked closer, Min Wenyi didn’t think much of it.
This gym was popular among celebrities, so it wasn’t unusual to see Chu Jiazhi here.
Leaning against the railing, Chu Jiazhi glanced at the high-rises outside the glass window. Turning his head slightly, he asked, “I heard you’ve had trouble with stalkers lately. Did you move already?”
Min Wenyi nodded. “Yes, I found a new place.”
“Make sure to prioritize your safety.” Chu Jiazhi’s voice was soft, and his smile was warm. “After all, as a woman, you must know how to protect yourself.”
Min Wenyi rolled her eyes. Others might not know Chu Jiazhi’s true nature, but she did. This guy was just a gossiper disguised as a gentleman.
If he was approaching her today, it was definitely to dig up some juicy news.
She had no interest in entertaining him.
“If you’ve got nothing else to say, you should go back to your workout. I’m heading out.”
Noticing her disinterest, Chu Jiazhi couldn’t help but tease, “Leaving already? Where’s your assistant? Why are you here alone?”
He really hit a sore spot!
Min Wenyi glared at him. “So what if I came alone? Am I some kind of empress who needs constant attendance?”
Chu Jiazhi froze momentarily before giving her a knowing look.
“Wenyi, we’ve been friends for years,” Chu Jiazhi said, slinging an arm around her shoulder. “If something’s bothering you, you can tell me. Remember, I was a professional psychologist before entering the industry.”
Initially, Min Wenyi wanted to refuse, but after a moment of thought, she paused.
“Are you saying I can ask you about anything?”
When Chu Jiazhi nodded affirmatively, she hesitated before continuing. “I have a friend who’s been facing a problem lately.”
Chu Jiazhi squinted. “This ‘friend’ you’re talking about… it’s you, isn’t it?”
Min Wenyi looked at him without saying a word, their eyes meeting.
After a long silence, she finally said, “Do I look like the type to invent fake friends?”
Chu Jiazhi: “…Ah~.”
After reaching a mutual understanding, Min Wenyi continued, “My… friend recently got a new assistant. The assistant is cute and sensible, a bit clumsy but also smart. Most importantly, she has a pretty face and a good figure. Lately, my… friend has been feeling a growing urge to get closer to this assistant. Last night, she even thought about marking her. What do you think is going on?”
Chu Jiazhi replied, “Well, your… friend just wants her physically.”
Min Wenyi waved dismissively. “No way. My friend already has a compatible Omega and couldn’t possibly fall for someone else.”
Chu Jiazhi thought for a moment. “Then maybe something’s happened that made her mistake the assistant for her Omega.”
Min Wenyi froze. “Impossible. The assistant is clearly a Beta!”
Seeing her disbelief, Chu Jiazhi chuckled. “The easiest way to figure it out is to imagine holding her, lying in the same bed. Would your friend feel excited?”
Min Wenyi: “…”
Chu Jiazhi watched her silent reaction and added, “Attraction isn’t exclusive to Alphas and Omegas. If it feels right, any dynamic can be true love.”
As he left, Chu Jiazhi waved and said, “If there’s a chance, have your friend test it out herself. Then she’ll know if it’s physical attraction or something more.”
After he left, Min Wenyi leaned against the railing, lost in thought.
Maybe… testing it out was the only way to find out?
