Are You Trying to Mark Me? (GL, ABO) - Chapter 23
For now, they could only air things out.
The autumn night was still very chilly. When the cold wind blew, it scattered all the smells inside the car.
Yu Ran shivered involuntarily from the cold wind.
Min Wenyi had been paying close attention to her. Seeing that Yu Ran was a bit cold, she wanted to roll up the window again.
“Don’t close it…”
Yu Ran stopped her, blushing as she said, “Don’t close the window.”
A little cold helped keep her clear-headed. If they closed the window, the smell of rum would come back, making Yu Ran feel dizzy.
“Can you help me get my medicine?” Yu Ran curled up and said to Min Wenyi, “It’s in my bag…”
Min Wenyi hesitated for a moment, then reached out and took Yu Ran’s small bag. Seeing the bottle inside with no label or instructions, she paused briefly but didn’t say anything. She passed it over along with a bottle of water.
Under Min Wenyi’s watchful eyes, Yu Ran tilted her head back and took a pill. Whether it was psychological or not, she felt much better.
Wrapping her little blanket tighter, Yu Ran handed the medicine back to Min Wenyi.
“Let’s go home first.” Min Wenyi covered her slightly dizzy head and said to Yu Ran, “I’ll find a driver.”
The driver called from the club got in the car and didn’t ask anything. Quietly, he drove them downstairs, took the payment, and left. During the ride, Yu Ran stayed wrapped in the blanket, curled up in the back seat. Min Wenyi sat in the front passenger seat, staring out the window, lost in thought.
Finally, back upstairs, Yu Ran felt Min Wenyi’s eyes always on her. She looked back quietly and said, “Could you stop looking at me like that?”
It felt like with just one look, Min Wenyi could see right through her, which gave Yu Ran an eerie feeling.
Min Wenyi shifted her gaze aside and said, “I’m going upstairs first.”
Then she went straight into her room.
Yu Ran planned to take a good bath. When she took off the blanket, she noticed several bite marks on her neck—she didn’t know when Min Wenyi had bitten her.
The marks were dark purple red, with many also on her collarbone.
Thinking about what had happened in the car tonight, Yu Ran felt a little scared. Living with an alpha was truly dangerous.
Listening to the sound of water from the bathroom downstairs, Min Wenyi felt restless and uneasy.
She had taken two sobering pills and was sitting on the stairs, looking a little pale.
Tonight’s events were quite an unexpected surprise.
Min Wenyi was known in the industry for being very disciplined. She was like a work machine, rarely showing extra emotions except when acting.
Maybe after spending so much time in this world, Min Wenyi felt that coldness and detachment were necessary emotions for life.
But tonight, she suddenly felt the urge to mark Yu Ran.
Whether it was the alcohol or just a sudden impulse, Min Wenyi really pinned Yu Ran down.
If not for that last moment when she stopped herself, Min Wenyi wasn’t sure how she would look at her assistant now.
When Yu Ran came out of the bath, Min Wenyi still hadn’t sorted out the tangled feelings in her heart. The two of them looked at each other on the stairs and were both a little stunned.
Min Wenyi was stunned because of the blue-purple marks on Yu Ran’s neck.
Yu Ran was surprised because Min Wenyi showed an expression that made her feel awkward.
Really strange.
Min Wenyi looked at the marks on Yu Ran and blushed, her words stumbling a bit: “Y-Your neck… do you want me to put some medicine on it?”
Yu Ran touched her collarbone: “No need. It’ll probably be better by tomorrow.”
Min Wenyi: “…”
Yu Ran: “…”
Ahhhhhh, so awkward!
Yu Ran bit her lip, blushing as she said, “I’m going back to my room first. See you tomorrow.”
Watching Yu Ran rush away, Min Wenyi couldn’t help but lift her long hair. She felt her heart skip a beat…
————————
As usual, Yu Ran woke up around 6:30 a.m. After tidying her room, she went to prepare the day’s meals.
Listening to Yu Ran moving around downstairs, along with the quiet hum of the robot vacuum, Min Wenyi lay in bed, covering her eyes with the back of her hand.
Damn it, she hadn’t slept a wink all night.
Her mind was filled with images of Yu Ran in the car last night.
Dark circles under her eyes showed how exhausted Min Wenyi was. Usually, even after two days and nights of filming, she wouldn’t look this tired. But last night’s insomnia left her looking worn out.
The scent of milk-like pheromones near her nose also grew stronger. Min Wenyi wasn’t sure if it was just her imagination or if the smell was really there.
Just as she was debating whether to try to sleep again or take a shower to calm down, her phone by the bed suddenly rang.
She swiped to answer and heard a familiar voice on the other end.
“Wenyi, are you home now?”
Yi Qiao was driving while talking to someone on the phone. “I’m heading your way. The test results for that medicine you asked me to analyze are back.”
“Where did you get this medicine from?” Yi Qiao frowned, her face turning grim. “This is an Omega pheromone inhibitor.”
Yu Ran guessed that Lu An’s classes would be over around this time, and usually, he would come knock to have breakfast. If he didn’t show up, it meant he had classes all day.
So it seemed that today Yu Ran only needed to prepare meals for herself and Min Wenyi.
She also wondered if it was because of what happened last night that Min Wenyi still hadn’t gotten out of bed.
Looking at the clock in the living room, it was just past 8:40.
Yu Ran looked up toward the end of the upstairs hallway; Min Wenyi still hadn’t gotten up.
“Forget it,” Yu Ran sighed helplessly. “I’ll go take out the trash first.”
After tidying the living room and kitchen, Yu Ran grabbed two big bags of trash and went downstairs.
The upscale neighborhood had long enforced garbage sorting rules, and Min Wenyi didn’t like having too much trash at home, so Yu Ran was always very diligent about taking out the trash.
Since there was nothing else to do at home, making a few extra trips was also good exercise.
Just after throwing out the trash, Yu Ran saw a white sedan driving along the neighborhood road.
Isn’t that the agent’s car?
Seeing the car park downstairs, Yu Ran headed over.
Knock knock knock—
Yi Qiao had just parked when she heard a knock on the window. Looking up, she saw Yu Ran and rolled down the window.
“What are you doing down here?” Yi Qiao laughed as she unbuckled her seatbelt. “Where’s Wenyi?”
“She doesn’t seem to be up yet,” Yu Ran smiled at the agent. “Did you come to see her? Not sure if she’s awake.”
Yi Qiao looked puzzled. “But I just called her. She wasn’t asleep anymore.”
Yu Ran was a little surprised too. If Min Wenyi wasn’t asleep, why hadn’t she come downstairs for breakfast?
Though she didn’t fully understand, Yu Ran didn’t think much of it and walked with Yi Qiao toward the elevator.
“Yi Qiao, are you eating here today?” Yu Ran asked happily. “We don’t get visitors often. If you’re eating, I’ll cook a bit more for lunch.”
Hearing this, Yi Qiao suddenly stopped.
“Yu Ran,” she said, looking seriously at the girl in front of her, “I want to ask you something very important.”
Yu Ran felt a little uneasy from the agent’s expression but nodded. “What do you want to ask?”
“Does Wenyi… have any Omegas around her?”
