Are You Trying to Mark Me? (GL, ABO) - Chapter 24
“Omega?”
Yu Ran thought carefully and said, “Does Lu An, who lives across the street, count?”
“Lu An?”
Yi Qiao also thought about it seriously. It seemed like it might count, but maybe not.
“Then it probably doesn’t count. Besides Lu An, is there any other Omega?”
“Seems like there isn’t… Why, why are you suddenly asking this?”
“Oh, it’s because…”
Just as Yi Qiao was about to say something, she suddenly stopped.
Yu Ran looked at her blankly, signaling for her to continue.
Yi Qiao sighed softly and said, “Forget it, it’s nothing. Let’s go upstairs first. I still have some things to discuss with Wenyi.”
Just now, Yi Qiao had remembered what Min Wenyi told her on the phone.
Don’t tell anyone anything before you see me.
Yi Qiao understood what Min Wenyi meant. In this fast-spreading age, any word could become a fatal leak—especially for a popular star like Min Wenyi.
If the media found out Min Wenyi had an Omega around her, it would definitely blow up and cause chaos.
This kind of uncontrollable heat was exactly what entertainment companies hated the most.
And Yi Qiao hated it too.
How could someone as proper as Min Wenyi have given her an Omega suppressant to test???
It was just too unbelievable!
Once inside the house, Yi Qiao kicked off her high heels and went straight upstairs. Yu Ran glanced but didn’t follow—after all, the two were discussing work, and she was just a small personal assistant.
She wasn’t sure if Yi Qiao was going to eat at home for lunch today, but Yu Ran busied herself in the kitchen, planning to make something for her.
If not, she’d just wait for Lu An to come back from class and give it to him.
After all, that little pig could eat anything.
Meanwhile…
Min Wenyi saw Yi Qiao’s dark face and knew she was here to demand an explanation.
Sure enough, Yi Qiao took out the test report and slammed it down on Min Wenyi’s bedroom desk with a “bang.”
“Explain this to me.”
Yi Qiao looked at Min Wenyi in disbelief. “Why do you have Omega suppressants? Do you know how bad it would be if the media got hold of this?”
Min Wenyi’s expression was bad too. Since Yi Qiao came in, she hadn’t said a word.
“Let me see.”
Min Wenyi took the test report from Yi Qiao, looked it over carefully, then murmured thoughtfully, “It really is a suppressant…”
Yu Ran—she actually was…
Completely missing Min Wenyi’s thoughts, Yi Qiao pressed on.
“Who is this person? How did she end up by your side? Is she the Omega you’re matched with?”
“No.” Min Wenyi put the report away and looked up at Yi Qiao. “I have some things to handle. You can leave now.”
“Min Wenyi!”
Yi Qiao was furious. “Do you know how many people rely on you? The studio just got started. If anything happens to you, over a hundred people will lose their jobs because of you.”
Min Wenyi turned to look at her, calm but firm: “I know.”
“…Wenyi, I’m not trying to scold you, but you have to understand.” Yi Qiao paused before continuing, “You are someone with a matched Omega. If you choose another Omega for some reason, it’s illegal.”
Yi Qiao said, “You could face three to five years in prison.”
Because Omegas are extremely rare, they’ve been closely monitored since the classification system began.
With such a low birthrate, betas can no longer conceive naturally. Most have to rely on in vitro fertilization or test tubes to have their own children.
Only Omegas, if physically capable, can stay in the best condition to conceive all year round.
So for the sake of “birthrate,” the country has strict laws targeting Alphas—unless both agree to divorce, if an Alpha cheats alone, it’s punishable by law.
Yi Qiao couldn’t imagine what would happen if Min Wenyi got stuck because of this. What would she do…
Looking at her manager who had worked with her for many years, Min Wenyi softened her tone a bit and said, “I know, so don’t worry. I’ll handle everything.”
Before Yi Qiao left, Min Wenyi never revealed who owned that medicine. She only told Yi Qiao not to tell anyone.
After all, exposing it could really get someone thrown in jail!
“Huh? You’re leaving already?” Yi Qiao walked out of the kitchen with wet hands, looking at Min Wenyi who was putting on her shoes, and said regretfully, “I wanted to cook something tasty today. Don’t you want to stay and try it?”
Yi Qiao thought to herself, I do want to stay, but it was clear Min Wenyi had something important to deal with and kept pushing her out.
And Yi Qiao wasn’t bold enough to just stay without being invited.
In the end, Yi Qiao just didn’t have the nerve.
“No, I still have some things to finish,” Yi Qiao said to the two people inside the room. “I’ll be busy now. I’ll come by some other day when I have time.”
Watching Yi Qiao close the door behind her, Yu Ran sighed in frustration and turned back to the kitchen.
Min Wenyi looked back at Yu Ran’s busy figure in the kitchen, suddenly feeling a confusing, tight emotion in her chest.
She thought about last night—how close she had come to marking Yu Ran—and felt especially restless.
Plus, before this, the two of them often slept together, holding each other.
For nearly half a year, they’d lived under the same roof.
Every day, Min Wenyi saw Yu Ran’s slender legs, her fair neck, and the way her shirt would accidentally reveal a bit too much at home…
Places she never noticed before now suddenly irritated her deeply.
How could Yu Ran, an Omega, be so comfortable living with an Alpha like her???
And sharing the same bed???
Almost getting marked, yet still cheerfully cooking for her???
Why!!!
Why was this girl so careless about protecting herself!!!!
What if Min Wenyi was a monster???
Just thinking about it made Min Wenyi restless, and she immediately took a step into the kitchen.
“Hm?”
Yu Ran saw Min Wenyi come in and smiled, “Dinner’s not ready yet. Are you hungry?”
Min Wenyi stared at Yu Ran without saying a word.
She saw the marks on Yu Ran’s open collar—the bite marks from last night and the faint kiss marks…
Damn it!
“Yu Ran.” Min Wenyi’s expression darkened as she looked at her and asked, “Are you hiding something from me?”
Yu Ran was stunned, confused. “Hiding something from you?”
She hadn’t done anything, had she?
“That medicine.” Min Wenyi stared at her. “The one you take often.”
Yu Ran’s heart skipped a beat. She hurriedly smiled, “It’s vitamins. Didn’t I tell you before? My health isn’t good, so the doctor told me to…”
“Not vitamins.”
Min Wenyi cut her off and looked down at her seriously.
“If it’s not vitamins, what else could it be?”
Yu Ran suddenly felt very scared. Looking into Min Wenyi’s eyes, she couldn’t help but take a step back, her back pressing against the cold wall.
Min Wenyi pulled out the test report Yi Qiao had brought, and with her other hand, pressed down on Yu Ran’s shoulder, stopping her from escaping.
“The medicine you’re taking is an Omega suppressant.”
Min Wenyi stared at Yu Ran’s pale face and said, “Yu Ran, you are an Omega.”
