Are You Trying to Mark Me? (GL, ABO) - Chapter 27
When Min Wenyi grabbed Yu Ran’s hand, Yu Ran felt her mind go completely blank.
Min Wenyi looked especially messy at that moment—her long black hair was tousled, and her casual jacket was pulled open at the collar, revealing the white cashmere sweater underneath.
That sweater had just been washed by Yu Ran and neatly folded in Min Wenyi’s wardrobe.
It was Min Wenyi’s favorite one.
But now, pushed and shoved around, the once pure white collar had a dark stain on it. No one knew what had happened.
Yu Ran didn’t stay stunned for long before Min Wenyi pulled her to run.
The two of them twisted and turned among the stalls, completely losing sense of direction. The large posters and boards set up by the vendors blocked their view, but the crowd behind them was slowly left far behind.
Breathing heavily, Yu Ran gasped for air. She tried her best to keep up with Min Wenyi’s pace. Looking up, all she could see was Min Wenyi’s long black hair fluttering in front of her, but she couldn’t see her face clearly at all.
Why was she here?
After running for who knew how long, Yu Ran glanced around and saw that they had reached a quiet corner of the convention center. There weren’t many people here, but things were scattered everywhere.
“Over there!”
Min Wenyi tightly grabbed Yu Ran’s wrist and looked back at her. “There’s a changing room over there. Let’s get in quickly!”
Before Yu Ran could react, Min Wenyi pushed her inside.
The cramped changing room had very little space. They stood facing each other, feeling a little awkward.
“Um…”
Yu Ran turned her head and asked, “Why did you come here?”
She should have been safely at home. Why go wandering around? It was so dangerous.
Min Wenyi brushed her messed-up hair back, touched the back of her head, and noticed her hair tie and hat were gone. She sighed unconsciously.
“Nothing much, just wanted to come check it out… But why did you rush into the crowd like that?”
With such small arms and legs, if she got stepped on or squeezed, it would be really dangerous.
Yu Ran looked up, blushing. “It’s because I heard you were here that I rushed in. If I wasn’t worried about you…!!!”
Suddenly, Min Wenyi put her hand over Yu Ran’s mouth, then raised a finger to signal for silence. She whispered, “You’re too loud.”
Smelling Min Wenyi’s nice scent, Yu Ran held her breath, gripping her arm tightly. Outside the changing room, they could hear voices.
Since it was a temporary setup, just a simple booth, there wasn’t much soundproofing.
The voices outside were clear.
“Did you hear? Min Wenyi came here.”
“Is she performing?”
“Don’t know. I heard she ran away.”
“Hahaha, ran away? Are the fans just too excited?”
“Probably. If I met her, I’d definitely want her autograph!”
The voices gradually faded. Yu Ran finally let out a quiet sigh of relief and pulled her hand away from Min Wenyi’s mouth, frowning.
“Look at you.”
Meaning: look what you’ve caused. Now that we’re stuck here, how do we get out?
Min Wenyi didn’t seem to mind at all. She looked down at Yu Ran and smiled.
“Don’t you think this is kind of fun?”
Yu Ran was confused. What was fun about being stuck in a changing room?
“But no matter what, you really shouldn’t come to crowded places,” Yu Ran said angrily. “If anything happens to you, even ten lives of mine wouldn’t be worth one of your fingers.”
Min Wenyi smirked slightly.
“You’re not that cheap.”
Before Yu Ran could say anything, Min Wenyi looked around and said a little frustrated, “Instead of arguing, we should think about how to get out.”
Yu Ran thought for a moment, took off her scarf, then stood on tiptoe and wrapped it around Min Wenyi’s neck.
The scarf, still warm, made Min Wenyi pause for a moment as she felt it around her neck. Then she looked at Yu Ran and carefully put it on, as if protecting something precious.
Their eyes met.
Min Wenyi reached out, took the scarf from Yu Ran’s hands, and slowly wrapped it around herself.
Yu Ran looked at her and said, “Wait here for me a moment.”
I’m going to help you pull off Lu An’s sunglasses.
Min Wenyi probably guessed that Yu Ran wanted to leave, so she reached out and grabbed her.
“Don’t move.”
Min Wenyi looked at Yu Ran and tilted her head.
“Why don’t you ask me why I came here?”
“Can you… tell me?”
Yu Ran was a little surprised. She thought an assistant wouldn’t ask such things.
Min Wenyi didn’t answer directly. She pulled the scarf down a bit and said, “Did you go out with Lu An?”
Yu Ran froze and quickly denied, “No!”
Min Wenyi gave her a look like “You’re lying,” pulling her hand close.
“I saw you two get in the car together. Otherwise, why else would I come here?”
Yu Ran’s mind went blank. She stammered, “I, we didn’t…”
The dressing room suddenly felt tense and intimate. Yu Ran only noticed that the wrist held tightly felt warm—probably the special scent of an alpha—making her breathing strangely difficult.
She had taken her suppressant today, so why was her heart beating so fast?
Yu Ran lowered her head and tried to twist her wrist free, but it wouldn’t budge. Frustrated, she whispered, “Let go of me…”
Min Wenyi looked at the top of Yu Ran’s head, smelling the faint scent of milk on her, and finally loosened his grip.
Once free, Yu Ran felt a chill, as if Min Wenyi had taken her warmth with him. She rubbed her wrist, blushing slightly, and said, “I’ll go find you some clothes.”
Min Wenyi didn’t say anything and let her leave.
The empty dressing room was now just Min Wenyi alone. He put his hand on the wall and stared at the spot where Yu Ran had just been standing, looking a bit lost.
He reminded himself to keep a safe distance from the Omega.
Min Wenyi knew he shouldn’t get too close to Yu Ran. Keeping her around wasn’t because of any dirty thoughts.
But there was a craving in his mind that made him want to get closer.
He wanted to hold Yu Ran’s hand, hug her.
He wanted to be more intimate with her.
Frustrated, Min Wenyi ran his hand through his black hair, feeling restless and uneasy.
He couldn’t do this…
When Lu An heard Min Wenyi had arrived, he immediately ran off with his remaining unsold fan books, leaving only an empty booth for Yu Ran.
Seeing he couldn’t get Lu An’s sunglasses, Yu Ran bought a mask from the cosplay shop with her own money.
Before going back to the dressing room, she carefully looked around to make sure no one was following her. When she saw no one, she slipped inside.
“I bought the mask…” Yu Ran said quietly.
Min Wenyi tossed his sweater onto a chair and said, “Yeah, just put it there.”
Yu Ran felt like she had a strange knack for walking in on her boss half-dressed. Watching Min Wenyi change naturally, she couldn’t just turn around and leave, so she forced herself to keep a straight face as he got ready.
He wasn’t exactly changing—he tore off the ripped sleeves of his coat, took off his sweater, and now wore only his underwear and a vest.
The uneven edges and deep V-neck made Min Wenyi look both cool and a little seductive.
After putting his scarf back on, Min Wenyi glanced at the mask and put it over his face.
“Luckily there’s heating at the convention, otherwise it’d be pretty cold,” he said.
Yu Ran looked at him and asked, “Where are the car keys? I’ll drive.”
Min Wenyi checked his pockets.
Empty.
He frowned. “Looks like I lost them.”
Yu Ran: “…Then how are we getting home?”
“Subway,” he said.
“…???”
When the two bought subway tickets and boarded the train, Yu Ran felt a lot of pressure.
To avoid being recognized, she had put two extra layers on Min Wenyi and even bought a cheap sweater, worried he might get cold.
But after Min Wenyi put them all on, Yu Ran thought she might have made a mistake.
Vest + red sweater + black scarf + white mask.
No matter how you looked at it, it seemed weird.
Like… a lunatic.
Min Wenyi almost didn’t get through security.
Fortunately, since the convention center was busy with events, they weren’t stopped much, and Yu Ran finally relaxed.
Sitting on the subway, Min Wenyi looked at the people around him and suddenly said, “Did you know? I debuted at six years old, and in all these 20 years, I’ve never taken the subway.”
“I always had to wear sunglasses and a mask when I went out. I was stuck at home. I’ve never been to an amusement park or squeezed into a bus.”
He looked around and smiled softly. “Today, I realized this is how most people live.”
Yu Ran looked into Min Wenyi’s eyes behind the mask. It reminded her of a new kid at an orphanage—watching cautiously, curious.
Min Wenyi didn’t seem like his usual self today, and Yu Ran felt a warmth inside her. She said, “Next time, I’ll take you to an amusement park.”
Min Wenyi glanced at her and smiled softly, “Okay.”
After a half-hour subway ride, the two finally got home.
As soon as they left the elevator, Yu Ran couldn’t help but nag a little. “Boss, you can’t go out again next time.”
Min Wenyi just sighed, acknowledging her words.
Turning a corner, they saw their front door wide open, with Guazi sitting at the entrance, wagging his head.
Inside were two people—a big one and a small one. The smaller one was Lu An, shrinking back nervously.
The bigger one…
Chu Jiazhi closed the fan book titled Exclusive Love, looked up, and smiled, “You’re back?”
Yu Ran saw the fan book in his hand and glanced at the nervous Lu An, unsure what was going on.
“Why are you here?” Min Wenyi asked, taking off her mask and scarf.
“Just came by? I’m not here to freeload,” Chu Jiazhi said happily. “I’m here to sign a contract with you.”
He glanced at Yu Ran behind Min Wenyi and said, “There’s a variety show in December. They invited you both.”
Yu Ran froze—did she just hear “you both”?
