Are You Trying to Mark Me? (GL, ABO) - Chapter 37
The bathroom was filled with thick steam, making everything look blurry and vague.
Yu Ran seemed to have only half finished her shower—her wet hair hung over her rounded shoulders, and she was wrapped in a white towel. The hot steam had flushed her entire body red.
Min Wenyi felt a sudden dryness in her throat and wasn’t sure what kind of expression she should show.
Yu Ran didn’t seem to notice Min Wenyi’s silence. She gripped the doorframe tightly and said in a low voice, “I’m feeling really uncomfortable. Can you bring me my medicine?”
Was this… an invitation?
Suddenly, Min Wenyi remembered that night at the party—Yu Ran’s face had been just as flushed.
And what was she doing at that time?
Tearing at the other person’s clothes.
Biting her collarbone.
And…
Min Wenyi shifted her gaze away, feeling that if she kept looking, something irreversible might happen.
Something she would regret.
Clearing her throat, Min Wenyi turned and asked, “Where’s the medicine?”
Hearing her own hoarse voice, she got a little distracted and covered her eyes, feeling a bit annoyed. She said to Yu Ran, “You go inside first, I’ll get the medicine for you.”
Before they could say more, Min Wenyi’s sharp ears caught footsteps approaching from the hallway.
The footsteps grew closer and closer.
“Wenyi, are you guys done yet?”
Before Yu Ran could react, Min Wenyi suddenly felt a push on her shoulder. Her hands let go of the doorframe in an instant, and she stepped back two paces.
Almost at the same time, both the bathroom door and the room door opened.
Chu Jiazhi glanced toward the bathroom and asked, “Wenyi, what are you two doing in the bathroom? Director—”
“Don’t come any closer.”
Min Wenyi grabbed Yu Ran’s arm and stood in front of the frosted glass door, blocking the view. She said to Chu Jiazhi outside, “I have something to take care of. You need to leave now.”
“Huh?”
Chu Jiazhi was confused by the sudden dismissal. When he tried to step closer, Min Wenyi gave a sharp warning.
“Chu Jiazhi,” Min Wenyi’s voice dropped low, “If you don’t want to lose an arm or a leg, get out now!”
There was silence on the other side for a long moment before Chu Jiazhi finally turned and closed the door.
Listening to his footsteps going downstairs, Min Wenyi slowly let out a breath.
The steam in the bathroom was thicker than she expected, and even though the two of them were close, they could barely see each other clearly.
Yu Ran leaned against the cold tiles and looked up at Min Wenyi, seeming still unable to fully understand the situation.
Her towel wasn’t very large, only covering from her chest down to mid-thigh. Yu Ran’s slender neck, long calves, and rounded knees were all clearly visible.
“…”
Min Wenyi’s eyes scanned from Yu Ran’s shoulders downward, and she blushed slightly.
“I’ll go get your medicine.”
Pushing open the door, Min Wenyi practically fled out, her wet feet leaving a chill on the floor.
She rummaged through her suitcase, found the suppressant medicine, poured herself a cup of warm water, and then returned to the bathroom.
Surrounded by thick steam, Yu Ran tilted her head back and took the medicine.
Leaning against the door, Min Wenyi asked across the room, “Feeling any better?”
“Mm…” Yu Ran hugged the cup and sat on the toilet seat, watching Min Wenyi’s back. “Did Chu Jiazhi come looking for us for something?”
Yu Ran felt especially weak today—her whole body was drained, and she kept feeling restless and hot. If they were really going to film, she probably wouldn’t be able to manage it.
Min Wenyi’s voice sounded a bit dull, distant through the thick air.
“He’s going to the hospital to see Lu An.”
Going to see Lu An…
Yu Ran lowered her head and thought about it. She actually wanted to go, too, but it seemed she really couldn’t.
Looking down at her weak legs, Yu Ran finally replied, “I won’t go. You all go ahead.”
Min Wenyi glanced once at the glass door but didn’t refuse.
“Alright, I understand. You should rest more in your room.”
“Mm…”
Hearing the faint response from inside, Min Wenyi felt reluctant. But thinking about what had just happened in the bathroom—the situation was very similar to that night in the car between the two of them.
If Min Wenyi hadn’t known Yu Ran was an Omega before, she might have thought it was just a misunderstanding.
But now, anyone with even a bit of common sense would choose to stay as far away as possible.
Though from the start, Min Wenyi knew she wasn’t a very rational person.
After a few minutes of silence, Min Wenyi turned and went downstairs.
When she reached the others, she glanced at them.
They had basically made their decisions and were just waiting for Min Wenyi and Yu Ran to come down. But when they saw only Min Wenyi, they were a bit confused.
Chu Jiazhi, standing nearby with arms crossed, looked thoughtful.
“I’m not going,” Min Wenyi told them. “Yu Ran and I have something to take care of today.”
She didn’t say what it was.
Everyone looked puzzled. After all, Min Wenyi was always dedicated and had never skipped filming without a reason.
“Is it something important?” Yu Hongwen asked. “Do you need us to wait for you a bit?”
After all, it’s better if everyone goes together to see Lu An.
Remembering Yu Ran’s condition earlier in the bathroom, Min Wenyi shook her head and said, “No need. You all go by yourselves. If Lu An asks, just tell him we’re waiting here for him to come back.”
With Min Wenyi saying that, everyone looked at each other, unsure of what to do.
Chu Jiazhi, who hadn’t spoken until now, glanced at her and studied her carefully from head to toe, feeling a bit suspicious.
Just now, when he went upstairs and opened the door, something felt off. Min Wenyi had kicked him out of the room—it must mean there was something she didn’t want him to know.
Though it was hard to see clearly inside, Chu Jiazhi could tell there were two people in the bathroom without even thinking—he knew exactly who they were.
The production team seemed like they wanted to say something, but Chu Jiazhi slowly spoke up: “Since Wenyi and the others have things to do, let’s forget it. It’s the same if the rest of us go.”
Min Wenyi looked up at Chu Jiazhi, her expression softening a little.
Since Chu Jiazhi said that no one else spoke up. Everyone quietly found a way to back down, saying things like, “Well, if that’s the case, there’s no other choice.”
After the main group left the guesthouse, leaving only Min Wenyi and a few support staff behind, she went back to the bedroom.
She opened the door and saw Yu Ran sitting on the edge of the bed, head down, hugging her knees, lost in thought.
The little assistant had already changed clothes after coming out of the bathroom, but her face was still flushed red, which made Min Wenyi feel a little restless and uneasy.
“Still not feeling well?”
Min Wenyi’s voice startled Yu Ran, who had been spacing out. She looked up at her, confused, and asked, “Why didn’t you leave?”
Min Wenyi sat beside her, helplessly saying, “How could I leave when you’re like this?”
After all, Yu Ran was an Omega, and it was really dangerous if she was unwell and no one who knew was around.
Min Wenyi glanced at Yu Ran’s still-damp hair and said, “Let me help you dry your hair.”
Her hands touched Yu Ran’s soft hair tips, which felt especially damp because they hadn’t been fully dried.
Today, Yu Ran was still wearing that pink nightgown, but Min Wenyi felt she seemed a little different.
Yu Ran lacked her usual spirit and looked especially… drained today.
From Min Wenyi’s angle, Yu Ran’s ears were bright red. Even though she had just taken the suppressant, there was still a faint smell of milk lingering, as if she might lose control at any moment.
While drying her hair, Min Wenyi casually asked, “Are you okay?”
Yu Ran nodded, then shook her head.
She didn’t feel well at all.
Sudden heat spreading through her body, uncontrollable pheromones, and complete exhaustion—Yu Ran felt awful.
She glanced back at Min Wenyi, lowered her head, and quietly said, “I… feel uncomfortable.”
It was like a fire had been lit inside her heart that wouldn’t go out.
Especially after Min Wenyi came into the room, the symptoms got even stronger.
“…Do you want to take some more suppressant?”
“Yes.”
After taking three pills in a row, Yu Ran’s face finally became a little less red.
Min Wenyi found it strange. She had spent so much time with the assistant over the past six months, day and night, but had never seen this happen before.
She suddenly regretted not going to the hospital—at least then she could have asked the doctor what was really going on.
After taking the medicine, Yu Ran felt sleepy, so Min Wenyi told her to lie down and rest, while she sat nearby playing with her phone out of boredom.
She didn’t know how much time passed before she heard a car pull up outside and voices talking.
Min Wenyi leaned on the windowsill and looked out. Lu An had gotten out of the car, wearing a baseball cap and looking frustrated, clearly unhappy at the hospital.
She glanced down at Yu Ran, who was still asleep. The little assistant had been sleeping for over five hours now…
When Lu An walked into the first floor, he looked up and saw Min Wenyi standing in the corridor above, looking down at him.
Her expression was dark. She stared at Lu An and asked, “Are you feeling better?”
Lu An nodded, confused. “Much better.”
Min Wenyi glanced around and then said, “Come upstairs. I need to talk to you.”
Lu An looked at the others, then quietly slipped upstairs.
“What’s up, Sister Wenyi?”
Seeing Min Wenyi’s serious expression, Lu An asked, puzzled, “Is there something you want to say?”
Leaning against the corridor wall, Min Wenyi looked at the camera fixed in the far end of the hallway and quietly said to Lu An, “I’m going to ask you something. Don’t tell anyone else.”
“Huh? What is it? Ask away.”
