Are You Trying to Mark Me? (GL, ABO) - Chapter 42
When Yu Ran realized her suppressant was missing, she went completely pale with fear.
She wanted to ask someone, but didn’t know how to bring it up. Standing helplessly in the living room, she looked like she was about to cry.
It was already past ten at night, and Yu Ran still hadn’t gone back to her room. Min Wenyi only saw her in the living room when she came downstairs and noticed she seemed to be looking for something.
“What are you doing?”
Min Wenyi had tied her hair back in a ponytail. Seeing Yu Ran on the floor digging between the couch cushions, she couldn’t help but feel confused.
“My… my suppressant is missing…”
Yu Ran’s eyes were red as she spoke.
Min Wenyi froze. When she saw Yu Ran’s expression, on the verge of tears, she realized this was serious.
“How many bottles did you bring?”
“Two… I already used one…”
Yu Ran clutched Min Wenyi’s sleeve, her voice shaking. “What if someone finds out? Will they make me leave?”
Min Wenyi looked at her and could feel Yu Ran’s hand trembling. She gently reassured her, “It’s okay, I’m here.”
Even if everyone did find out Yu Ran was an Omega, Min Wenyi would protect her—after all, she was the one who insisted on letting her stay.
“Let me help you look.”
Min Wenyi gently wiped the tears from the corners of Yu Ran’s eyes and smiled. “No one else comes over to this side of the guesthouse anyway. I’ll go ask the staff.”
Yu Ran sat there in a daze, watching Min Wenyi walk off toward the editing room on the first floor. She sniffled quietly.
She had really… almost burst into tears just now.
Min Wenyi asked the staff in a roundabout way, but as soon as she mentioned a bottle placed behind the water dispenser, everyone immediately responded, “You mean the suppressant?”
Min Wenyi: “…”
Wait, everyone knew?
The director gave her a helpless but proud smile and said, “Lu An’s suppressant, right? Don’t worry, we sent someone to deliver it to the airport right after he left. It’s all good!”
Min Wenyi’s eyes widened in disbelief. What???
They gave it to Lu An????
When Lu An got off the plane and turned on his phone, he saw that Min Wenyi had called him over a dozen times.
He chuckled as he called her back, waiting for her to pick up.
It was already 11 p.m. by now. Yu Ran was sitting on the edge of the bed, and Min Wenyi had just finished comforting her when her phone rang.
Min Wenyi glanced at the screen and immediately felt a flash of anger.
It had been so long—why was he only calling back now?
On the other end of the line, Lu An lazily said, “What’s up, Wenyi-jie? I just got off the plane~”
His laid-back tone made Min Wenyi want to punch him.
“Do you have Yu Ran’s suppressant?”
“Yeah. One of the crew, Xiao Zhang, ran over to the airport to give it to me. I didn’t think much of it at the time. Only realized on the plane that it was hers.”
Min Wenyi knew it was just a mix-up and couldn’t really blame him. But when she looked at Yu Ran’s pitiful face, she couldn’t help but press, “Is there any way you can send it back?”
Dragging his luggage, Lu An laughed and said, “Rehearsals start tomorrow. I probably won’t have time to ship it. Even if I did, it wouldn’t get there quickly.”
After all, mailing something from the north to a small guesthouse in a southern county would take at least three to four days.
Yu Ran couldn’t wait that long.
Min Wenyi frowned. This was becoming a real problem.
Lu An added, “To buy a new one, you have to file an application first. And it won’t arrive fast either.”
“…Then what do you suggest?”
“Hah, don’t you count as a walking suppressant?”
Just then, Lu An saw the car picking him up parked by the curb. He happily walked over, loaded his luggage, and said to Min Wenyi, “I’ll have Xinxin send it to you. For now, Yu Ran will just have to manage as best she can.”
With that, he hung up.
Tong Xinxin glanced back at Lu An and asked, confused, “Who are you mailing something to?”
“Oh,” Lu An smiled, “Wenyi-jie left something with me. Can you find time to send it back to her in the next day or two?”
“Sure. With today’s couriers, it’ll get there in three days. She won’t have to wait long.”
“That fast?”
“Of course.”
Lu An thought for a moment and said, “Xinxin, find the slowest three-letter courier company and send it that way.”
“Huh?” Tong Xinxin looked puzzled as she drove. “That’ll take like half a month.”
“Perfect~”
“Hmm?”
Tong Xinxin was still confused. What on earth was going on???
Meanwhile, Min Wenyi hung up the phone and turned to see Yu Ran watching her curiously. Her face flushed.
Yu Ran tilted her head and asked, “What did Lu An say?”
Min Wenyi cleared her throat and replied, “He said he’ll mail the suppressant as soon as he can.”
“But… even then, won’t it still take a few days?”
“Mm.”
Yu Ran asked nervously, “Then what should I do these next few days?”
Suppressants were mainly used to mask the scent of an Omega and help them stay rational when around Alphas.
For a regular Omega, it was enough to take medication only during their heat cycle each month.
But Yu Ran had to hide her scent all the time, so she needed to take it every day.
Seeing the confused expression on Yu Ran’s face, Min Wenyi turned her head slightly and said, “Until the suppressant arrives in the mail, we’ll have to go with a temporary mark.”
Yu Ran: “……”
The memory of what happened between them not long ago still felt fresh—being marked, the pain, and the strange sense of satisfaction had all come rushing back at once.
“I… I…”
Yu Ran’s face turned bright red. She clutched the hem of her skirt nervously, struggling to say, “I…”
But after stammering for a while, she still couldn’t finish the sentence.
Looking at her blushing face, Min Wenyi finally calmed down. What Lü An had said was true—until the suppressants arrived, there really was no other way.
“Yu Ran,” Min Wenyi asked, “how long does my mark usually last?”
Yu Ran replied in a small voice, still blushing, “About… three days…”
That was six times longer than a regular suppressant.
Min Wenyi reached out and gently rubbed Yu Ran’s head, her voice soft. “Don’t be scared. Just think of it like me taking a little bite.”
Yu Ran looked up at her. She could faintly smell the scent of rum from Min Wenyi.
It was gentle, but cautious too.
Min Wenyi was trying to test how she felt…
Yu Ran’s ears were already completely red. She murmured, “Then… I’ll leave it to you…”
Seeing her agree, Min Wenyi couldn’t help but smile. She nodded, then reached out to touch Yu Ran’s cheek.
Maybe it was the dim lighting in the room, but to Min Wenyi, Yu Ran looked just like a shy bride waiting for her partner on their wedding night.
“Lift your head.”
Yu Ran obediently tilted her chin up. Under Min Wenyi’s slightly tipsy guidance, her whole body softened.
She looked so sweet and docile that Min Wenyi felt her own breathing grow hotter.
Min Wenyi leaned down until there was barely an inch between them.
Their breaths mingled—so close it felt like something would happen any second. Yu Ran’s eyes grew hazy, her lips parted slightly, and from Min Wenyi’s angle, she could see the tip of her pink tongue…
“I’m marking you,” Min Wenyi said with a playful smile, “not kissing you.”
Yu Ran froze, then realized what she was doing—and immediately turned to run.
So embarrassing!!!
But before she could even take a step, Min Wenyi grabbed her wrist.
Min Wenyi burst out laughing. “Alright, alright, my bad. I won’t tease you anymore.”
Yu Ran’s face was burning. “Let go of me! Let go!”
“Don’t be loud, everyone’s asleep.”
“You’re such a jerk, I—mmm…”
“Hold on to me. This might hurt a little.”
“Ah…!! Be gentle… mmm…”
“Yu Ran, stop struggling. I can’t get your clothes off like this.”
“You… you bastard… mmph—”
Lying awake in bed, Chu Jiazhi listened to the sounds coming from the next room and couldn’t help but feel confused.
Just what kind of chaotic couple was I gossiping about anyway???
———
That night, Yu Ran slept unusually well.
Alpha pheromones naturally helped soothe Omegas. When the pair was well-matched, the effect was even stronger. So Yu Ran didn’t wake up until after 8 a.m.
Feeling someone holding her, she tried to move a little, but it was no use.
“Boss…”
Still feeling weak and lazy, she buried her face into Min Wenyi’s shoulder and mumbled, “It’s time to get up…”
But even as she said it, she didn’t move an inch.
Min Wenyi was awake too. She shielded her eyes with the back of her hand and responded with a soft “mm.”
The person in her arms seemed to have fallen back asleep, her gentle breathing making Min Wenyi feel incredibly restless.
After the marking last night, Yu Ran had seemed out of it, letting Min Wenyi do whatever she wanted while holding her close.
She must’ve been exhausted—understandably so, it had been pretty intense.
Min Wenyi was the one left suffering in silence.
Hearing movement in the hallway and downstairs where the crew was stirring, Min Wenyi finally got out of bed.
The show Me and My Assistant had started airing last week. With both Min Wenyi and Chu Jiazhi as part of the cast, the first episode had already reached over 7 million views.
By the second day, it had passed 100 million.
The investors were thrilled, and the advertisements were everywhere.
“You’re up?”
Min Wenyi turned around with a cup of tea and saw Chu Jiazhi dressed in loungewear. “Aren’t we not filming today? Why are you up so early?”
“Hongwen and I went for a run around the area. Just got back,” Chu Jiazhi said, then looked at her closely. “You seem unusually happy today.”
“Do I?”
“……”
Chu Jiazhi leaned on the railing and looked her in the eye. “Min Wenyi, there’s something bothering me. Can you help me out?”
Min Wenyi took a sip of water and looked at him, puzzled.
Chu Jiazhi said, “Let me put it this way—no need to beat around the bush. What exactly is going on between you and Yu Ran? And what about Yu Ran and Lü An? Are those two…?”
Min Wenyi replied, “I think you should head over to that pond out front, stick your head in, and take a nice swim. Maybe that’ll help clear your head a little.”
Chu Jiazhi: “……”
This woman is too much!!!
