As a Scummy Omega, I Ran Away with the Baby - Chapter 11
“Stomach problems?”
Hearing her describe the symptoms, Dr. Lin furrowed her brows, her expression complicated.
“Isn’t it?”
Unable to eat, acid reflux, nausea—if it wasn’t gastritis, what else could it be? Seeing the doctor’s grave look, Bai Qingqiu grew suspicious and a little uneasy herself.
“Compared to a stomach condition, I’d lean toward pregnancy.”
Dr. Lin sighed, clearly aware of her quirks.
Pregnant.
Bai Qingqiu’s mouth fell open.
Come to think of it, she had indeed skipped her contraceptives a few times recently. She figured it wouldn’t matter—she wasn’t some teenager in her early twenties anymore, getting pregnant shouldn’t be that easy—so she didn’t pay attention.
Now, she was suddenly restless.
It wasn’t that she wasn’t ready to have a child—she had never even considered having one. She wasn’t suited to being a mother.
Raising a child wasn’t like keeping a pet. Even with pets, you still had to teach them to use the bathroom and keep quiet.
She knew her own problems all too well, and she knew why she had them. Someone like Gu Yining—she wanted her every move under her control, right under her eyes. Gu Yining was an adult with a sound mind, and because she loved her, she was willing to go along with it.
That was why they hadn’t had conflicts.
Bei Nanyan, too, had once bent to her in everything, but over time, no one could stand being manipulated and controlled forever.
And a child?
What if the child didn’t obey? Would she hit them? Scold them?
Her already pale face drained of color entirely.
“Don’t be afraid just yet. Let me do an ultrasound to take a look.”
Seeing her state, Dr. Lin quickly tried to comfort her. Having known Bai Qingqiu since childhood, she fully understood her worries—though she was powerless to help.
“Alright.”
Bai Qingqiu gripped the edge of the desk so tightly her knuckles whitened as she nodded.

The cold gel squelched onto her abdomen, making her flinch. The chill seeped into her skin, straight to her heart, leaving her thoughts in chaos.
“Don’t worry, it’ll be fine,” Dr. Lin said softly as she picked up the probe, spreading the gel across her stomach. “Even if you are pregnant, it’s not a bad thing. If your mother could see from above that you have a baby, she would surely be happy for you.”
Bai Qingqiu drew a shaky breath, her fingertips icy.
“Hmm…”
“Really pregnant?”
She gasped, craning her neck toward the monitor.
“Not certain.” Dr. Lin paused. “It’s still unclear. It could be, or it might just be a small cyst. If it’s too early, an abdominal ultrasound won’t show anything.”
“So, according to you, my symptoms might not mean pregnancy at all—it could just be gastritis,” Bai Qingqiu tried to analyze calmly.
“Some people react to pregnancy very early,” Dr. Lin replied, catching her hopeful tone. “Ten different women can have ten different pregnancy reactions. You’ll need to come back in a week or two. If you really are pregnant, you’ll need to go to a proper hospital. I’m not an OB-GYN.”
“Got it.”

Thank heavens, the recording still went smoothly. Thanks to the expensive suppressant Bai Qingqiu had prepared for her, Gu Yining felt relieved as she followed the crowd out of the TV station.
Quick footsteps came from behind. When she turned, she saw Yin Youyi.
No wonder the two of them had gone viral as a “ship.” Yin Youyi wasn’t bad-looking at all. Compared to her own sharp, intimidating face, Yin Youyi had features audiences loved—a pair of smiling eyes that carried a gentle, springlike warmth even when she spoke.
“Thanks for earlier tonight.”
Yin Youyi’s eyes curved in a bright smile.
She was referring to the water games they had just filmed, when Gu Yining pulled her back so she didn’t fall into the water.
Gu Yining hadn’t thought much of it; it was just instinct to lend a hand.
“No big deal.”
She waved it off casually, assuming Yin Youyi would thank her and then leave. But the woman remained standing there.
“Something else?”
Gu Yining unconsciously took half a step back.
She wasn’t good at chatting alone with strangers—social anxiety. If only Xiao Li was here. But Xiao Li had gone ahead to the parking lot with her luggage, calling the driver to bring the car around.
“Want to exchange WeChat? You seem nice. I really like you.”
Yin Youyi spoke openly, admiration written all over her face.
“I already have a girlfriend.”
“Pfft, what are you thinking? I meant as friends! You think I’m that casual?”
“N-no, that’s not what I meant…”
Gu Yining waved her hands quickly.
“Forget it then. Looks like you’re not too keen anyway. We’ll still have plenty of chances to work together later, won’t we?”
Before Gu Yining could respond, Yin Youyi suddenly leaned in and planted a solid kiss on her cheek. Unlike Bai Qingqiu’s teasing, elusive kisses, this one landed squarely.
Gu Yining froze like her system had crashed, standing there dumbfounded as Yin Youyi waved goodbye and walked off with ease.
By the time Xiao Li came huffing back, she was still in shock.
“Ningning? Let’s go, the car’s here.” Xiao Li waved a hand in front of her face.
“Do you have tissues? No, wet wipes—give me one.”
Gu Yining spun toward her urgently.
“Huh?”

In a shadowed corner, a camera lens flashed briefly.

“Ningning, what are you wiping at so hard? Don’t tell me you’re allergic to today’s makeup? If so, I’ll need to tell Sister Hong to switch stylists.”
Puzzled, Xiao Li handed over the last wet wipe when she motioned for more.
“That’s the last one.”
“It’s not an allergy.” Gu Yining hesitated, tangled. No matter what, she couldn’t let Bai Qingqiu find out about this. “Forget it, just assume it is—but not from makeup.”
But rather from a person, she finished silently in her head.
Thinking about how she still had to work with Yin Youyi—play her romantic partner, no less—Gu Yining suddenly felt suffocated.
No, when she got home, she’d tell Bai Qingqiu she refused to have any further contact or collaboration with Yin Youyi. Even if Bai Qingqiu disliked her going against decisions, so be it.
At worst, she’d act spoiled—or seduce her way out of trouble.
As long as Bai Qingqiu was in a good mood, she wouldn’t push the issue.
Resolving herself, Gu Yining only then felt the stinging heat where she had scrubbed her cheek raw.
“Hiss…”

Bai Qingqiu checked the time. Gu Yining should be almost home.
Should she bring this up?
Even if it wasn’t confirmed, Dr. Lin’s words had been clear enough. Unless something unexpected happened, pregnancy was only a matter of time. The odds it was just gastritis was slim.
And her luck was never good. After all, she had lost her mother at six.
“I’m back!”
The sudden voice from afar broke her thoughts.
“You’re back?”
Bai Qingqiu perked up, looking toward the sound. Strangely, Gu Yining—with her bare face, hair tied in a ponytail, and casual dress—showed no trace of having just finished recording.
“Mm, today’s shoot was exhausting.”
She tossed her bag onto the sofa and dove straight into Bai Qingqiu’s arms.
Instinctively, Bai Qingqiu shielded her stomach, then quickly covered it up.
“My stomach’s not feeling great.”
“Huh? It’s still not better? Shouldn’t we go to the hospital?”
Gu Yining widened her eyes, then lowered her gaze worriedly to her belly.
I just went, silly, Bai Qingqiu thought.
“It’s fine. A few more days of medicine will do.”
For now, she decided not to tell Gu Yining. At least not until things were certain. Looking at her clingy, spoiled manner, she was still like a child herself. Telling her now would only worry her, and she couldn’t offer any solutions anyway.
If it really was pregnancy, Bai Qingqiu might have to be the one to comfort her instead.
“That’s good then. Qiuqiu—”
Gu Yining nuzzled into her arms again, drawing out her voice sweetly.
“Tired?”
Bai Qingqiu pinched her ear.
“Yeah. Oh, right, I ran into that Yin Youyi today. I don’t like her. Qiuqiu, I don’t want to work with her. Can’t you talk to her company and cancel the collaboration?”
Gu Yining gazed up at her, eyes pleading.
