As a Scummy Omega, I Ran Away with the Baby - Chapter 12
Of course not. Everything has already been arranged.
The words almost slipped from Bai Qingqiu’s lips, but the thought of the child in her womb made her swallow them back into silence.
Was she really going to keep being this overbearing?
“Qiuqiu.”
Seeing her remain quiet, Gu Yining called softly again. She even tugged lightly at Bai Qingqiu’s arm, swaying it as she looked up at her. Her high ponytail had come loose from rubbing around, a few strands falling in messy wisps against her ears. She looked pitiful.
With a sigh, Bai Qingqiu reached out and tucked those stray strands behind her ear. Gu Yining’s hair, just like the girl herself, was fine and soft. No matter how tightly tied, it never stayed neat—it always ended up a messy little bundle.
Just like now: the tighter she tried to bind Gu Yining, the less obedient the girl became.
“The company’s already prepared everything. Dozens of people are working overtime just to make sure things go smoothly for you. It can’t be canceled. At most, we’ll just refuse to cooperate next time. Be good.” After speaking, Bai Qingqiu gave her back a gentle pat of reassurance.
The smile on Gu Yining’s face collapsed. She mumbled something under her breath, too low for Bai Qingqiu to catch clearly.
Probably something like “I knew it.”
“Really not possible?”
Gu Yining leaned in closer, closing the distance between them. When Bai Qingqiu lifted her eyes, she noticed a faint, almost unnoticeable flush on the girl’s right cheek.
“What happened to your face?” Bai Qingqiu raised a brow and reached to touch it, but before her hand made contact, Gu Yining quickly muttered:
“It’s nothing… just a little allergy.” She turned her head away to avoid her.
Bai Qingqiu caught that flicker of evasiveness in her eyes. Doubt stirred in her heart, but she chose not to press further.
Still… Gu Yining was becoming more and more secretive around her lately. Was it because time had passed? Was she finally growing tired of her temper?
Bai Qingqiu pressed her lips together, the indulgent smile on her face fading slightly. Her mood darkened.
Gu Yining was very good at reading her expressions.
“It’s really nothing, you don’t have to worry.” She tried to reassure her cautiously, then took Bai Qingqiu’s hand and pressed it against her cheek, rubbing against her palm like a kitten. “See? No cuts, no bleeding.”
Bai Qingqiu said nothing. Looking at Gu Yining like this, her chest tightened with an inexplicable ache.
She didn’t need to be so humble. Yes, Bai Qingqiu had been the one steering this relationship, but they were lovers—not master and servant.
When she didn’t reply, Gu Yining assumed she was still angry. She gently moved Bai Qingqiu’s hand away from her cheek and instead lifted her own arm to her lips.
“If you’re still upset, you can bite me. Just once, to vent it out.” She said it with reckless determination, though her eyes betrayed fear.
Afraid of the pain, but still offering herself up.
“Pfft—”
Bai Qingqiu couldn’t hold back a laugh at that sight. Just as she was about to tease her, she was suddenly overwhelmed by a heady wave of rose scent. It caught her off guard, making her cough violently.
“Cough—cough! Gu Yining!”
Right. Gu Yining was still in her susceptibility period.
She hadn’t noticed it earlier. But now that she thought about it, it was strange—normally an Omega would burn up and lose control when exposed to an Alpha’s pheromones.
But she didn’t. Instead, she felt a deep sense of comfort, even an impulse to lean on Gu Yining. The realization tangled her heart. This made the already unlikely chance of not being pregnant even slimmer.
Suppressing the urge to pull Gu Yining into her arms, Bai Qingqiu turned and grabbed her bag, searching for an inhibitor. But before she could find it, a warm body pressed tightly against her back.
The overwhelming rose scent invaded her senses.
“Qiuqiu, let’s go back to the bedroom.”
Gu Yining’s once-clear voice was now husky, her arms burning hot as they wrapped around her.
On any other day, Bai Qingqiu wouldn’t have hesitated to go upstairs with her. But now…
She faltered.
She was very likely pregnant. She wasn’t a mother yet, but even she knew this wasn’t good for a child.
Even if she had no intention of keeping it.
Gu Yining read her silence as rejection.
“I understand.” Her voice was low as she slowly released her grip. Her skin, flushed from heat, glistened with a sheen of sweat across her forehead. Her eyes were damp, shimmering with grievance, like an abandoned little animal.
She must be suffering terribly right now, Bai Qingqiu thought.
“I’m sorry. My stomach really feels bad,” Bai Qingqiu murmured, patting her head in comfort.
At her words, Gu Yining’s eyes lit up with hope—only to dim again as she gave a subdued nod.
“I know. Rest a bit, okay? I’ll go take a shower first.”
Without waiting for an answer, she grabbed her bag and darted upstairs, her footsteps quick and determined, unwilling to linger.
Bai Qingqiu stood frozen, staring after her until her figure disappeared. Only then did she look away.

The shower water, set deliberately cold, splashed down her body, making Gu Yining shiver. But the icy sting also chased away the heat boiling in her veins.
Her mind cleared bit by bit. Thinking back on how she had just acted in front of Bai Qingqiu, a bitter smile curved her lips.
Half of it was an old habit she couldn’t shed, half of it was that lingering attachment—those residual feelings for Bai Qingqiu, that instinctive dependence on her pheromones.
She knew she might only be a stand-in. But could so many nights of shared closeness really be erased so easily?
And yet, once she sobered, she could see it clearly: Bai Qingqiu only ever treated her like a puppet on her strings.
She hadn’t even wanted to mention that Yin Youyi had stolen a kiss from her earlier. But the moment Bai Qingqiu saw her reaction, her expression soured instantly. Even knowing she was in a susceptibility period, she refused to help her.
Just a small act of defiance—just not doing exactly what Bai Qingqiu wanted—and it was enough. As if she, Gu Yining, had no right to say “no.”
Tilting her head back, Gu Yining let the cold water run over her face, chilling her to the bone.
Her heart was frozen through.
