As a Scummy Omega, I Ran Away with the Baby - Chapter 15
“Regarding this quarter’s financial report—”
“Today’s meeting ends here. Dismissed.”
Bai Qingqiu’s voice cut across the secretary’s report.
“…”
The conference room instantly fell silent. Everyone exchanged wary glances but dared not speak. This was completely unlike President Bai.
She acted as if she hadn’t noticed their bewilderment, calmly capping her pen and rising to her feet. The tailored suit she wore accentuated her tall, capable figure. Beneath the deep navy blazer, her white silk blouse was buttoned all the way to the collar—precise and disciplined. Her exquisitely refined features carried a cold expression that left no room for objection.
The only sound in the vast meeting room was the sharp click of her heels against the floor.
“Oh, right.”
At the doorway, Bai Qingqiu slowed her steps and, with studied casualness, glanced sideways back into the room.
“Hong-jie, come to my office for a moment.”
Without waiting for a response, she strode out, never once looking back.
All eyes turned toward Hong-jie, who sat with a composed but shadowed expression. President Bai was known for putting the company above all else no matter the circumstance. Yet today she had ended a meeting early, just to summon Hong-jie to her office?
Something must have happened. A shake-up among the higher ranks? After all, Hong-jie was one of the company’s veterans, holding a share of the original stock.
Under so many stares, Hong-jie remained unruffled. She lifted her insulated cup as if nothing was amiss and rose to follow Bai Qingqiu out.
“Hong-jie, what’s going on?”
An Jin stepped forward, a mocking smile tugging at her lips, feigning ignorance.
They were both managers under Gu Yining, and both despised the girl—seeing her as nothing more than a pretty face scheming her way into President Bai’s favor. The difference was that Hong-jie had long followed Bai Qingqiu in company matters and wasn’t as well-versed in the entertainment circle’s games. An Jin, who came later, was far more adept at handling such affairs.
That was why Hong-jie dared to openly snub Gu Yining, while An Jin restricted herself to veiled sarcasm behind her back. To President Bai’s face, she never defied an order.
It was obvious why she had been called in: she had shouted at Gu Yining yesterday. And how had President Bai found out? Of course, Gu Yining must have tattled.
What a pathetic creature—petty, childish, and disgraceful.
Just like An Jin.
Did they really think Bai Qingqiu would punish her simply for scolding Gu Yining?
Hong-jie sneered.
“Step aside, President Bai is waiting for me.”
“After you.”
An Jin shrugged with theatrical courtesy, her tone dripping with amusement.
Empty bluster.
Without another glance, Hong-jie headed straight for Bai Qingqiu’s office.

Knock knock.
“Come in.”
Bai Qingqiu looked up from her computer screen as Hong-jie entered, cup in hand.
“President Bai, what can I do for you?”
She smiled pleasantly, as though in a fine mood.
“Have a seat.”
Bai Qingqiu’s tone was light, but she didn’t rise. She only tilted her chin toward the sofa.
“I’ll stand. There’s plenty of work waiting. Whatever it is, just say it directly.”
Bai Qingqiu’s brows knit briefly, a flicker of displeasure passing over her otherwise composed face. When she lifted her gaze again, her expression was once more cool and unreadable.
“Hong-jie, did you give Gu Yining a lecture yesterday?”
The phrasing was deliberate—lecture—a word that carried both rebuke and a sense of superiority over Gu Yining.
“Yes. Gu Yining went off stirring up trouble with Yin Youyi without reporting to me or An Jin. If it wasn’t for her own good, I wouldn’t have bothered calling her.”
Trouble with Yin Youyi?
The phrase caught Bai Qingqiu’s attention. What exactly had happened? Still, she set aside her curiosity for the moment and nodded.
“You were thoughtful.”
“No big deal. But let me tell you, President Bai—girls like Gu Yining are a dime a dozen in this industry. Looks aside, she’s full of tricks. Better send her packing sooner rather than later. I can find you someone obedient and sensible to replace her.”
Since when was it her place to dictate how Bai Qingqiu should manage things?
Bai Qingqiu almost laughed, though irritation prickled underneath. What gave Hong Xia the confidence to posture before her—just because of those few shares of original stock?
Still, until she regained those shares, it wasn’t the time to break ties. The last thing she wanted was for Hong Xia to sell them off to some unreliable outsider. In her company, every shareholder had to pass through her approval.
So Bai Qingqiu merely gave a noncommittal hum. To her, Hong Xia had already exhausted her usefulness in this conversation. It was time to end it.
“Go ahead and get back to work, Hong-jie.”
Hong Xia nodded, smirked with self-satisfaction, and turned to leave—without even offering a polite farewell.
Only after she was gone did Bai Qingqiu lower her eyes, press the button on her desk phone, and instruct her secretary:
“Send An Jin to my office.”
