As a Scummy Omega, I Ran Away with the Baby - Chapter 5
“What?”
Bai Qingqiu put down her spoon, staring in disbelief at Gu Yining—the same person who had just rushed home with so much energy a moment ago.
“Yes. I want to go out for work these next couple of days. Didn’t Xiao Li say Infatuation is planning a live stream with the main cast? I’m the second female lead—if I’m not there, wouldn’t that be bad?” Gu Yining said matter-of-factly. A stray lock of her long hair stuck up at the top of her head, giving her a slightly silly look.
Infatuation was Gu Yining’s previous modern idol drama. Although she hadn’t been the lead, her role as the second female lead was only behind the two main actresses in terms of screen time. Her character arc ran through the entire storyline, making it quite significant—and it had been arranged for her by the team on her request.
Bai Qingqiu instinctively nodded, but then realized what was happening and glared at her.
Gu Yining’s response was a pair of eyes glistening with feigned hurt and watery appeal.
Bai Qingqiu couldn’t tell if she was amusing herself by spoiling Gu Yining or if Gu Yining had completely exploited her soft spot. Even though she knew this was a ploy, facing that face, Bai Qingqiu simply couldn’t bring herself to issue a proper command.
“Fine. Go, then.”
Bai Qingqiu agreed reluctantly. The more she thought about it, the more frustrated she felt at being manipulated. She simply grabbed Gu Yining—who had just sat down for breakfast—pulled her over, and started ruffling her hair fiercely.
She didn’t stop until Gu Yining was squawking that her hair would fall out if she kept going.
Gu Yining, after all, was an actress whose livelihood depended on her looks. Balding would make it impossible to film for the company, leaving her stuck at home all day—definitely not acceptable.
“Your hands are so warm.”
Gu Yining crouched in front of her, curiously taking Bai Qingqiu’s reddened palms in her hands.
“Are you stupid? Of course they’re warm after all that rubbing.”
Bai Qingqiu felt awkward under Gu Yining’s gaze and, trying to act fierce, raised her voice and pulled back her hands.
Gu Yining, however, didn’t let go. Instead, she gripped her wrists and lifted them in front of her face for a closer look. Her warm, moist breath brushed faintly over Bai Qingqiu’s palms, tickling her. Her heartbeat quickened uncontrollably, and her ears burned.
She tried to pull away again.
“Don’t move. You cut your hand. I’ll get Aunt Han to bring disinfectant and a bandage.”
Half-crouching, Gu Yining’s head was slightly lower than Bai Qingqiu’s, giving her a view of a face full of seriousness and concentration. Her usually wide, innocent eyes now inspired a strange sense of reliability and reassurance—like she was handling a priceless, fragile object.
Bai Qingqiu pressed her lips together and followed her gaze. It took a moment, but she finally spotted a faint red scratch along the soft, fair pad of her finger, the translucent skin slightly peeled.
If Gu Yining hadn’t pointed it out, it probably would have healed by now.
Bai Qingqiu couldn’t help laughing and crying at the same time. What a silly little thing.
“It’s fine, it’s just a small—”
“Aunt Han, could you bring the first-aid kit? Bai Qingqiu cut her hand.”
They spoke at the same time, freezing for a moment before bursting into laughter, neither knowing who started it first.
By the time Aunt Han arrived with the kit, Bai Qingqiu had caught sight of the little messy bun she had styled on Gu Yining’s head, and couldn’t help laughing even more.
Seeing this, Aunt Han, carrying the kit, couldn’t help but chuckle too.
“Miss Gu, what happened to your hair?” she asked as she prepared to kneel and open the kit.
“Not that anyone did anything… someone just made it messy,” Gu Yining said, giving her a pointed look. Bai Qingqiu showed no guilt at all, raising an eyebrow in response.
Seeing no reaction, Gu Yining pouted in mock indignation.
“I’ll handle it, Aunt Han. You go ahead and do your work.”
“Alright.”
Aunt Han, wise in giving the young women their private moments, immediately stepped aside.
“What are you doing—getting back at me personally?”
After living with Gu Yining for over four years, Bai Qingqiu could always tell what mischief was brewing in her mind. She let Gu Yining hold one wrist while awkwardly rifling through the kit with her other hand.
“Of course.”
Gu Yining, unfazed, handed her a disposable iodine swab.
“Open this for me.”
“Do we really need iodine?”
Bai Qingqiu sighed, resigned, and tore the package open, squeezing the swab to release the antiseptic before handing it back.
“Better safe than sorry.”
Gu Yining gently ran the swab over the barely noticeable cut, letting the yellow-brown solution seep between her fingers before finally letting go of Bai Qingqiu’s wrist and turning to find a bandage.
“You’re impossible,” Bai Qingqiu muttered, though secretly she didn’t mind being cared for, a faint smile tugging at her lips.
“Be careful when rubbing my hair next time. You can cut yourself with it. You’re a girl too—how can you not know?”
Gu Yining chattered away, skillfully pulling out a cartoon bear bandage from somewhere and applying it neatly.
A big yellow bear head grinned innocently, surrounded by pastel balloons and hearts—childish and cute.
But she had to go to work.
Would her employees take their boss seriously in a meeting with a cartoon bear stuck on her hand?
“Gu Yining.”
Bai Qingqiu called after her as she was about to start breakfast.
“What? The bandage didn’t fall off, did it?”
“Can we use a different bandage… this one’s ugly,” Bai Qingqiu said, hesitating before adding a seemingly reasonable excuse.
“You like Didini cartoons, right? I asked Aunt Han to buy this especially,” Gu Yining said, puzzled, her acting not quite convincing. Bai Qingqiu could clearly see the smirk at the corner of her eyes.
This was deliberate.
“I have to work,” Bai Qingqiu said, taking several deep breaths to calm herself.
“Pfft… hahahaha, it’s fine. The house is full of stuff like this anyway. Your employees wouldn’t dare stare at their boss.”
“Gu… Yining.”
Bai Qingqiu ground out her words, syllable by syllable, her teeth clenched.

After all the teasing and antics, Gu Yining finally settled down to eat, though she barely touched her food before claiming she was full and rushing upstairs to change, saying she had to go out.
She simply couldn’t stay home all day.
Bai Qingqiu could only sigh and instruct Aunt Han to pack extra inhibitors and blockers in Gu Yining’s bag—just in case she lost control of her pheromones while out during her heat.
Otherwise, headlines like:
[Alpha Actress Loses Control in Public During Heat]
[G-City Actress Causes Public Scene, Taken in for Investigation]
would ruin Gu Yining’s career. She might as well pack her bags and become a servant at home.
Bai Qingqiu rolled her eyes at the thought.
“Miss Bai, this is the fried milk Gu Yining asked for. I’ll leave it here,” Aunt Han said, bringing a plate of golden, crispy cubes.
“Okay, put it down,” Bai Qingqiu said, raising an eyebrow and nodding toward the seat across from her. Gu Yining loved sweets and fried foods—anything sweet or fried would delight her.
Fried milk, like all such treats, was a recurring temptation Aunt Han often prepared.
As the aroma hit her nose, however, Bai Qingqiu was immediately repulsed by the greasy, rancid smell. She covered her mouth and gagged a few times.
“Aunt Han,” Bai Qingqiu croaked, her voice catching slightly.
“What’s wrong?”
“What kind of oil did you use? It smells off.” She steadied herself against the table and stepped back from the plate.
“Same as always—salad oil. I just changed it. Smells bad? I’ll make it again.”
Seeing her reaction, Aunt Han immediately picked up the plate, forgetting about the dishes she had been cleaning.
“It’s fine, just leave it. I guess my stomach’s been off lately—can’t handle greasy food.”
Bai Qingqiu shook her head, rubbing her churned-up stomach. She hadn’t been sleeping well for the past two weeks trying to fit that school drama into her schedule—no wonder her gastritis was acting up.
