As a Scummy Omega, I Ran Away with the Baby - Chapter 6
The reason she had left in such a hurry was twofold: partly because she’d been cooped up at home for too long and needed some fresh air, and partly because she couldn’t face Bai Qingqiu calmly.
She had lied.
She was deceiving her.
It wasn’t about caring for work at all; she simply felt embarrassed to contact Bei Nanyan while in Bai Qingqiu’s presence. The ever-perceptive Bai Qingqiu hadn’t noticed a thing, and had even come over to remind her to be careful on the road.
Gu Yining sat in the back of the chauffeured car, clutching the suppressant pill she didn’t even remember putting in her bag. The cold glass seemed to seep through her skin, chilling her to the bone.
What if the relationship between Bai Qingqiu and Bei Nanyan wasn’t what she imagined?
What if Bai Qingqiu didn’t even know Bei Nanyan at all?
If that was the case, she would have betrayed Bai Qingqiu’s trust and care. Her mind was in a whirlwind.
Assistant Xiao Li, who had come on short notice following orders to stay by her side, now slid open the car door and sat next to her. Seeing her unresponsive, she asked curiously,
“Ningning, what’s wrong? Are you okay?”
Gu Yining snapped back to reality and forced a small smile, shaking her head.
“I’m fine.” She sealed her lips tightly after saying it.
“You haven’t been feeling well, have you? Didn’t get enough rest? Sister An told me to make sure you took some time off.”
“Sister An?”
Gu Yining paused.
Sister An was her agent—and also the most senior, well-connected, top-tier manager in Bai Qingqiu’s company. She had even clashed with Bai Qingqiu twice in the past when assigned to manage someone like her, a so-called “connection case.”
Why would she suddenly have time to specifically tell Xiao Li to let her rest?
Besides Bai Qingqiu, who else could have said such a thing to Sister An?
The phone in Gu Yining’s hand suddenly felt scorching hot.
“Yeah, Sister An really cares about you. Out of all the artists she manages, she’s always given you the best resources. With a boss like you, Ningning, I won’t have to worry about my own promotions anymore, hehe.”
Xiao Li, not fully understanding, couldn’t help but squint her eyes in delight as she smiled; she looked extraordinarily beautiful.
Well… of course. The company belonged to Bai Qingqiu, and so did this person—meaning the resources were far better than what an ordinary artist could get.
It wasn’t that Sister An liked her in particular—it was that Bai Qingqiu liked her.
Gu Yining didn’t reply. She lowered her head, opened her scarf, and scrolled to see what her adorable little fans had been saying.
After the ad popped up, her phone froze for a full two seconds.
Her notifications—comments and likes—were all blazing red, 999+ bubbles everywhere.
What…?
Having been offline for two days, Gu Yining felt like a caveman just discovering the Internet, utterly bewildered.
The company occasionally bought fake engagement to boost her posts before, but as a minor, second- or third-tier artist, her Weibo numbers had never exceeded a few thousand.
Never like this.
Xiao Li, tidying clothes for an upcoming shoot, noticed her staring blankly and laughed as she leaned over to click a notification.
“Ningning, you haven’t been online for the past two days, huh? Someone on C Station made a ship video of you and Yin Youyi—it’s gone viral. I even heard at the office this morning that they might contact the other side about a collaboration, maybe get you and Yin Youyi to do a yuri drama together.”
Gu Yining followed Xiao Li’s finger and saw it—a short, one-minute clip. It spliced together a TV series where Yin Youyi’s character carries a baby and a character Gu Yining played in Infatuation. Though the two roles were unrelated, the edit made them look like a CEO and her little wife on the run.
It actually fit surprisingly well. Gu Yining couldn’t help but chuckle at the “in-frame” pairing, almost entirely unaltered by editing.
But she didn’t like children.
She herself was just a child in spirit and saw no need—or interest—in creating another. Being asked to take care of a child? That would be a disaster.
Besides, kids are noisy and unruly. If quiet and well-behaved, she might even comment on how cute they were. But if they cried incessantly and needed chasing around for food, she’d just want to lie down and cry along with them.
Watching the video, Gu Yining wrinkled her nose at Yin Youyi, who was smiling while holding a baby.
Thankfully, Bai Qingqiu hadn’t assigned her this kind of drama.
Otherwise, she’d have to beg “President Bai” to revoke the order.

Meanwhile, Bai Qingqiu, working from home, had also seen the video.
Xiao Li’s gossip wasn’t wrong—the company was indeed planning a collaboration, and any sudden influx of traffic was free to use. Being the source of a trending topic, the video had been downloaded from C Station by the company’s planning department and brought into a meeting.
The PR, planning, scriptwriting, and artist departments analyzed the video meticulously, discussing its viral spread.
Leading the meeting, Bai Qingqiu sipped her iced Americano, tasting the sour yet bitter aroma. The cold liquid slid down smoothly, calming an irritation she hadn’t even noticed.
“President Bai, what do you think of this project?”
“Mm, finalize the workflow and budget. Approval will come naturally.”
Bai Qingqiu nodded slightly, neither approving nor objecting. After a pause, noticing the unanimous comments on the video, she added casually,
“I remember An Jin mentioned this…uh, Gu Yining. The script department should keep her image conservative—avoid intimate scenes, kissing, or anything romantic in the script. Understood?”
The script department representatives nodded, while An Jin, Gu Yining’s agent and familiar with the situation, couldn’t help but roll her eyes discreetly.
Satisfied, Bai Qingqiu sipped her drink again, suppressing the nausea that had been inexplicably rising since morning. She’d have Aunt Han prepare something light to settle her stomach.
“By the way, President Bai,” An Jin spoke up, her tone teasingly subtle.
“Yes?”
Bai Qingqiu raised her eyes and gave her a sidelong glance.
“The cast of Infatuation is planning to do an 8 PM game variety promotion on Fruit TV in a couple of days. I checked with a friend—Yin Youyi happens to be in this episode. Should we coordinate with the show to hype the CP?”
“This trivial stuff—why are you telling me? Isn’t it part of your job? If it can generate traffic for our artists, then just arrange it.”
Bai Qingqiu snorted, refusing to engage.
Seeing her mockery failed, An Jin shrugged and fell silent.
Bai Qingqiu lowered her eyelids.
Gu Yining knew her limits; she wouldn’t step out of line. As long as she didn’t have physical contact with that Yin person, Bai Qingqiu didn’t care whether they “shipped” her or not.
All else was fake.
Gu Yining’s body and heart belonged to her. If Bai Qingqiu said left, Gu Yining wouldn’t dare move right.
Bai Qingqiu was confident—Gu Yining would never escape her grasp.
