(Note: I kid you not, that’s the actual episode title. Because of this, I even thought the author is planning to make a new novel or short story based on this girl)
“Is it really weak? You’re not just being modest…?”
I couldn’t help but ask Paula, who possessed the Space Attribute.
She nodded as if it was the most obvious thing, and spoke as if explaining common knowledge.
“Yeah. The Space Attribute is a useless, dud attribute.”
“Is that so…? It feels like it could do a lot, though…”
“It would be nice if it could. But in reality, it’s completely useless.”
Paula declared firmly. Even Ergo, standing next to her, had a sympathetic expression.
“Think about it. For example, with the Fire Attribute, you can launch fire to attack. With the Earth Attribute, you can solidify the ground to create a shield. But even if you move or gather space, it doesn’t do anything, right? Space is just empty; you can’t destroy things or block attacks with it. It’s truly useless.”
Paula spoke with a self-deprecating smile, her words filled with bitterness. Ergo, as if unable to bear seeing her so downtrodden, spoke up.
“That’s not true…! I don’t know any scout as skilled as Paula-san. The only reason we were able to find Slime-dono near the Grand Beast Region was because of Paula-san’s [Spatial Awareness]. The Space Attribute is definitely not useless.”
“Thanks. But everyone says that a scout who can only scout, even if they’re good, isn’t as valuable as one who can scout and fight too.”
“That’s…”
As Ergo struggled for words, Paula turned to me.
“Now you understand, Katsu. The Space Attribute is a meaningless, powerless, useless Attribute.”
Her words left the young man biting his lip, unable to say anything.
Seeing that, I thought to myself.
(Hmm… huh? Am I the one who’s wrong here…?)
––No, no way! There’s no way that’s true!
Don’t let the atmosphere fool you! The Space Attribute can’t be weak!
“…Hey, earlier you said it couldn’t be used for attacks, but isn’t that a bit premature? I mean, you could tear space apart or something and use that to attack, right?”
I decided to just throw out the first thing that came to mind.
But Paula only furrowed her brow in confusion.
“Tear space apart…? Sorry, I don’t really understand. When would space tear?”
“…Uh, when does it happen…?”
Now that I think about it, I don’t really understand the principles of space tearing… What even *is* space?
(I’ve got this vague understanding from how it’s depicted in manga, but explaining it like, ‘It’s something you see in comics all the time,’ wouldn’t make sense to people in this world. Plus, I never learned about space in school, so I don’t know how to teach it…)
As I pondered space, images of the x, y, and z axes started dancing around in my head.
Since I wasn’t coming up with anything, I decided to gather some information first.
“What kind of [Attribute Skills] do you have, Paula?”
“Just the [Spatial Awareness] trait. I can sense the surroundings and the positions of objects.”
“I see. So that’s how you were scouting.”
If she can grasp the entirety of the space around her, no matter how quietly or stealthily someone moves, it wouldn’t matter. That’s a top-tier scouting skill, isn’t it?
(A [Skill]… Oh, right! A [Skill]!)
At that moment, an idea flashed through my mind. This method just might work.
“Watch carefully what I’m about to do… no, use your [Skill] to observe.”
“Hmm? Got it.”
Paula agreed, albeit with a puzzled expression.
To make it easier for her to see, I extended my whip and—
“([Weapon Storage])”
Using a skill, I pulled out a weapon.
A steel club appeared atop the whip, as if rising out of water.
“Wow.”
“You used that [Skill] earlier, didn’t you?”
Ergo said, hugging his spear, which was especially effective against earth enemies.
Come to think of it, I used this when I pulled out that weapon earlier, didn’t I?
“This is called [Weapon Storage], a [Skill] that allows me to store weapons. But where do you think I store them?”
“Hmm… maybe in your cheeks, like a hamster?”
That’s a pretty squirrel-like idea.
“But if that were the case, you wouldn’t have been able to hide the weapon so completely.”
“Right? And earlier, just for a moment, it felt a different space connected, like there was space beyond Katsu.”
“If you can sense that much, then you’re probably on the right track. The answer is… another dimension.”

“You store weapons in a space connected to yourself, a personal dimension. That’s basically what the [Skill] is. Even I don’t fully get it, though.”
“So there’s a [Skill] like that.”
“That’s amazing! Even though it’s limited to weapons, that [Skill] could revolutionize the logistics industry!”
“Yeah, I guess that’s true… but for now, focus on the different dimension. Paula, don’t you think you could recreate this space with your Space Attribute?”
The girl’s eyes widened in realization, but her expression quickly darkened.
“No… there’s no way I can do that with my power…”
“You can do it! Earlier, you noticed something was off with your [Spatial Awareness], right!? If you can sense that, you should be able to recreate it with your own power!”
I urged her with as much confidence as I could muster. Paula hesitated for a good ten seconds before giving her answer.
“…Alright, I’ll give it a try.”
She closed her eyes and entered a state of deep concentration. |Mana| gathered in her outstretched right hand, wavering as if searching for a place to go.
“Um, Katsu, could you show me the storage again? Just once more?”
“As many times as you need.”
I repeatedly demonstrated the [Skill], taking the iron rod in and out. The more she saw the transition to and from the other dimension, the easier it would be for her to grasp the concept.

A silent stretch of time passed. Paula, who was focused, and I, who came up with the idea, remained quiet. Ergo, too, stayed still so as not to disturb us.
The chirping of birds. The rustling of leaves. The dying cries of magical beasts. As these sounds of nature filled the air, time passed. Eventually, I grew a bit bored and began juggling with [Weapon Storage].
“I think… I can do it.”
Paula opened her eyes, and her |Mana| was expended.
“[Space Storage].”
Nothing happened.
No, that’s not it. The change wasn’t visible to those of us who couldn’t perceive space itself.
“…I did it.”
Her voice was so faint it could’ve been missed. Then, she picked up the basket she had placed beside her, gathered her |Mana| again, and—
“[Space Storage]…”
This time, we could see it. The basket in her hand vanished in an instant.
“I did it… I really used it…”
Before we could even congratulate her, Paula collapsed where she stood. I thought for a second she might have overused her |Mana|, but on closer inspection, that wasn’t it.
“I did it… I can really use magic…”
Her voice was broken, sobs mixed with her words. She kept taking the basket in and out, as if confirming for herself that she could really use the magic. Transparent droplets fell onto the ground from her trembling hands.
(Is being able to use magic really that important to her…?)
While slightly confused by her reaction, I quietly watched over her until she calmed down.
