Episode 178: Epilogue, and Then—
(Note: Special for this chapter the MC’s dialogue is written in ‘…..’.)
A day had passed since the defeat of Karkinos.
After a much-needed rest to recover from the long battle, a small celebration was held. The Demon King provided a room in the imperial castle, and the food primarily consisted of fruits and vegetables from plant-type magical beasts found on the Eastern Continent. Despite the constant threat from Karkinos, some life managed to survive—proof of the resilience of plant life.
Once the small banquet, attended only by those who had participated in the battle, concluded, a crystal ball rolled over to the two people standing on the terrace, gazing down at the imperial capital.
“Oh, welcome back, Katsu!”
Paula greeted a crystal ball.
This crystal ball, modeled after the Jewel Slime, served as my terminal. Through it, I could observe, hear, and even eat and drink. Thanks to this, I could enjoy the food during the banquet as well.
“Have you finished your farewells?”
‘Yeah, mostly. You and Fisu are the last ones.’
Until just now, I had been saying my goodbyes to people I had met in this world, such as Ergo, the son of a merchant family, and the father-daughter pair Xanthos and Krissa of the Underground Kingdom. With the〔Earth〕of〔Divine Authority – Arytia〕, I could search anywhere on the surface as long as it wasn’t in the upper floor of the castle. So finding them didn’t take long. After that, I just had to summon the crystal ball to the right place and talk to them. It required some concentration, but as the 〔Astro God〕, my voice could reach anyone in the world.
“So, it’s finally our turn… it’s going to be lonely.”
“Yeah, too bad. Stay well.”
I had already told them that I would be leaving this world. This visit was simply to say my final goodbyes.
‘I’ll be fine, honestly. There’s not much danger for me now. But you two take care of yourselves.’
“Hehe, yeah. I’ll stay healthy, continue my magic research… and one day, I’ll catch up to you…”
‘Huh? What do you mean by that?’
I asked Paula, puzzled by her mischievous grin.
“When you became a god, the entire space around us trembled like never before. It was as if a fog had lifted, and I realized it—there’s space beyond this world, and floating within that space are countless other worlds.”
‘……!’
Her words aligned perfectly with the basic knowledge I had gained after becoming an 〔Astro God〕. The world is governed by the 〔Star Field – Aether〕 of each planet’s deity. Once you step outside of the planet, you’re in the space beyond this world.
“That’s when it hit me—my Attribute’s true nature is tied to the very concept of worlds. I might need to ascend one more time… or maybe even reach the Sixth Class, but I’m sure that one day, I’ll be able to travel to other worlds. That’s why Fisu and I were talking earlier—if I master magic to that level, we’ll come find you together.”
“Yes. Until then, I’ll travel through this world, seeing everything I couldn’t before.”
‘Wow…’
I couldn’t help but be impressed by their ambitions.
Hearing about their clear goals for the future made me reflect. I should set my own goals as well.
“In that case… I’ll keep growing stronger. Now that I’ve become an〔Astro God〕, I can’t expect rapid growth like before. But as I travel through different worlds, I’ll find a way to push my strength to the next level.”
“Then it’s a race! Let’s see who reaches their goal first—you becoming stronger, or us catching up!”
‘Yeah.’
After a few more minutes of light conversation, I brought up the inevitable.
‘I guess it’s time for me to go. If I wait any longer, I might end up delaying it even more.’
They both nodded silently.
Finally, I dissolved the crystal ball into countless shimmering particles and severed my connection to the scene.
“Are you ready, the new〔Astro God〕?”
Far above the imperial castle, my true form hovered in the sky, near the Kármán line, at the edge of space.
‘Yeah, I’ve finished everything I needed to. You stay well, too.’
I replied to the god of this planet, who had reached out to me.
Although his true body was still buried deep within the planet’s core, it wasn’t difficult for him to project his voice to me from afar, just as I did. Not long ago, even that much would have been impossible for him due to his weakened state.
“The 〔Soul Arche〕 of Karkinos that you offered me has allowed me to recover from the worst. Soon, the rest of my wounds will heal, and I’ll be in full health once more.”
When I finished off Karkinos using 〔Earth〕, my goal wasn’t just to ensure its destruction—I also wanted to offer its 〔Soul Arche〕 to the god of the planet. Since the ground is the body of 〔Astro God〕, I figured it might be possible to use it in such a way. The attempt was a success. And thanks to the immense amount of 〔Soul Arche〕 Karkinos possessed, the god had regained enough strength to converse with me.
“You have my eternal gratitude. You are welcome to visit my 〔Star Realm Gaia〕 at any time.”
‘I’ll take you up on that if I ever need to.’
Then, I looked up at the starry sky.
Being so close to space, the stars were visible no matter the time of day. But what I saw with my 〔Astro God〕 eyes wasn’t just the physical light of the stars.
It was a completely different plane, only perceivable by 〔Astro Gods〕 or similar beings—the 〔Void〕.
What Paula had perceived was likely this 〔Void〕, and the stars glittering in this twisted space weren’t just ordinary stars but rather 〔Star Realms〕—planets where life exists. By passing through this warped dimension, it’s possible to travel to stars many light-years away in a short time. When I reincarnated, my 〔Soul Arche〕 must have passed through here as well.
‘That’s Earth, huh?’
I muttered, gazing at the blue planet, which was surrounded by swirling dark clouds. Upon closer inspection, I could see something like black lightning piercing through various points on its surface.
“This phenomenon has been observed since shortly after your summoning. It is likely an invasion by the 〔Spirit of Chaos〕 from another star.”
‘Yeah, that makes sense. I can also see something that looks like a massive meteor shower in the distance.’
It seemed my homeland, Earth, was caught up in some kind of troublesome situation.
‘Sigh… Well, at least I won’t be short of training partners.’
I tried to look at the situation positively and refocus my mind.
‘Alright, time to go.’
With that, I took my first step away from the world where I had been reborn as a Slime.
The journey that had led me to become an unstoppable anomaly had reached its end
And now, a new journey was just beginning.
(Note: This is the TL. Thank you so much for whoever is buying these chapters with coins. This means you don’t mind at all at the switching of the name of the final boss (from Chaos to Karkinos) or you don’t have much choice to begin with but to accept it. Bwahahahahaha. But on a serious note. Recently, one thing led to another and I’ve been in a really, really tight spot. I’m in dire need of money right now and, man, your support is really invaluable. Thank you so much for supporting me and make sure to support the original author too! I think I left the link at the end of chapter 1. Thank you so much! ⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡)
