Banishment is Fine: As a Genius Saint, I Can Shine Anywhere. - Chapter 1
“Haahhh—!!”
With the tip of his sword pointed downward, he dropped onto the monster with all his weight.
The sword pierced deep into the monster’s head, and it let out an otherworldly scream.
The monster flapped its wings wildly but soon lost balance and plummeted to the ground.
“Whoa!”
The knights below quickly jumped to the side.
With a thundering crash, the monster hit the ground, still writhing with the sword embedded from its head to its jaw.
The captain, who was on top, pulled out his sword forcefully and stabbed it multiple times from above.
“Help me out!”
The stunned knights snapped out of it and hurriedly aimed their bows, shooting at the monster’s body.
The monster screamed louder and thrashed around, suddenly spewing purple slime from its mouth.
“Ugh!”
A knight in front was drenched in the slime and collapsed. Nearby knights screamed and jumped away.
Meteora thought, This is bad!
She then dashed towards the slime-covered knight.
“Don’t worry about the fallen! Finish off the monster!”
The captain shouted from the top of the monster. The knights ignored their fallen comrade and continued attacking.
She raised her staff and rushed to the abandoned, slime-covered knight.
“Healing power…!”
Focusing her energy on the staff, it began to glow warmly in her hands. She pressed the gem at the tip of the staff against the fallen knight’s body.
“Heal…!”
Concentrating all her energy on the unresponsive knight, the gem at the tip of the staff emitted a dazzling light. The purple slime scattered instantly, revealing the knight.
“Cough!”
The knight, who had been suffocating from the slime, coughed heavily and opened his eyes.
“W-what happened…?”
“Don’t move! It takes time for the poison to completely disappear!”
She straddled the knight, staff at the ready. Seeing the monster about to spew the slime again, she swung her staff forcefully.
“Barrier!”
The air tensed, and an invisible wall appeared in front of Meteora and the other knights. The monster’s slime was deflected by the barrier and splattered back onto itself.
“Graaaahhh!”
The monster screamed, covered in its own slime. The captain on top almost lost his balance but quickly steadied himself by gripping his sword.
“Damn it, resume the attack! Shoot—!”
His words snapped the other knights out of their daze, and they began shooting arrows again. The captain himself repeatedly stabbed the monster’s skin with his sword.
“Enough… already!”
He stabbed the monster’s eye as a finishing blow. The monster screamed again and thrashed around but soon stopped moving and collapsed.
“Now! Seal it…!”
The knight raised his sword high, and a gem embedded in the part of the sword sparkled.Â
Immediately, the faint purple miasma emanating from the monster was absorbed by the light from the gem.
As soon as all the miasma was absorbed, the monster crumbled into dust and vanished without a trace.
“Huff, huff, that was a tough one.”
The knight, who had jumped to the ground just before the monster crumbled, sheathed his sword and looked around at everyone.
“Anyone hurt?”
“N-no, we’re okay… but…”
Everyone’s gaze turned to Mitea. The knight she had saved also looked at her nervously.
The captain understood the meaning behind their looks and walked briskly towards her.
“You, you… deployed a barrier earlier, right? And that guy you saved is fine despite being poisoned.”
The captain’s tone was interrogative and harsh enough to make a timid person cry, thinking they were being scolded.
But Meteora brushed her disheveled hair back and retorted firmly.
“And you jumped onto the monster with incredible agility. Isn’t it only polite to reveal your abilities before questioning others?”
Her provocative words made the surrounding knights look shocked. They now stared fearfully at their captain.
