Banishment is Fine: As a Genius Saint, I Can Shine Anywhere. - Chapter 2
“That just means you were completely exhausted. Honestly, the fact that your fever went down in just half a day is almost inhuman.”
“Says the enhanced human.”
“Exactly. I’m enhanced, so it makes sense. But for an ordinary girl—no matter how much of a genius saint she is—recovering this fast is unbelievable.”
Lionel fixed his gaze on her.
“What?”
“I’m starting to think you might be enhanced, too.”
“Sorry to disappoint you, but my abilities and body are all natural.”
“I figured. Still, your power is… completely out of the ordinary. It’s only natural to have doubts.”
Meteora let out a small chuckle and shrugged slightly.
“I’m glad you acknowledge my power.”
“I’d rather you didn’t overuse it, though. Since we’re in a town with proper beds, I… well, to be honest, I wanted to see how far your power could go. That’s why, even when you looked exhausted, I didn’t tell you to stop.”
“Ah, so that’s what it was.”
She nodded in understanding.
Throughout the time she spent healing the townspeople and praying for the land and livestock, Lionel had stayed by her side as her escort.
She had thought he might tell her to stop if she still had some strength left, but he hadn’t said a word. He had simply watched over her, stepping in only when she needed assistance.
So that’s what he had been doing—gauging just how much power she could use before reaching her limit.
“You’re not angry?”
Lionel looked surprised, as if he had expected a harsher reaction.
Meteora simply shrugged again.
“Knowing each other’s capabilities is necessary when working together.”
“I don’t dislike how practical you are. Your genius-level arrogance, though, is another matter.”
“That, I will take offense to.”
“Well, I’ll accept your anger. After all, I did get quite the pleasant view in return.”
Lionel smirked and gestured toward her chest.
At some point, someone must have changed her clothes. She was now wearing a thin nightgown—one that belonged to someone else, as the neckline was far too low.
On top of that, she must have sweated in her sleep from the fever. The fabric clung to her, outlining her figure clearly.
“You could have at least given me something to cover up, you lecherous knight!”
Face burning, Meteora grabbed a pillow and hurled it at him. It was heavier than expected and hit Lionel square in the face.
“Haha, that reaction is downright childish.”
“Hah!? Don’t treat me like a child!”
Gathering the blanket around her chest, she shot him a fierce glare. Meanwhile, Lionel just grinned and stood up.
“It’s a relief, though. You have an almost mechanical way of thinking and an extraordinary level of skill as a saint, but at least you still have the embarrassment of a normal girl.”
“Of course I do! Don’t be ridiculous!”
“Yeah, that’s why I’m relieved. You always seem like you’re in a hurry to grow up. Take better care of the parts of you that are still just a girl.”
“…?”
“I’ll ask the town chief’s daughter to bring you some clothes.”
With that, Lionel waved a hand lazily and walked out of the room.
Meteora felt like she had been completely played. Huffing, she grabbed another pillow and tossed it toward the door. But with her still-weakened body, it barely bounced off the floor.
“Honestly… as if he’s that much older than me.”
Still, she understood that he was genuinely concerned for her.
Feeling half annoyed and half… oddly warm inside, she settled back against her pillow.
A small, unconscious smile tugged at her lips.
