Banishment is Fine: As a Genius Saint, I Can Shine Anywhere. - Chapter 3
The Journey Continues:
“Thanks to the Saintess’s charms, it’s not too hard to breathe, but this poor visibility is really wearing me down.”
“Yeah, I get that. For now, let’s get dinner ready.”
The knights chose an abandoned house as their shelter for the night and quickly began setting up camp.
Meteora placed protective charms around the area and used her healing powers on the knights who were free, easing their exhaustion.
“The preserved food will last for another six months, so let’s eat the potatoes first.”
“Saintess, here’s some wine. We warmed it up a little while heating the pot, so it should taste good.”
“Thank you.”
Since water was scarce, they mainly drank wine during the journey. Meteora, who wasn’t very good with alcohol, held the cup with both hands and sipped it slowly.
“We should reach the border in two more days. Meteora, could you start preparing charms we can use there?”
“Good idea. I’ll make some just as powerful as the Stakes.”
“Thanks. But… if the Stakes have been destroyed, the monsters will swarm us before we even reach the border. The villages near the border might already be overrun by now.”
Lionel spread out a map, his face serious. Everyone was prepared for the worst, but they still hoped they wouldn’t encounter too many monsters before confirming the state of the Stakes.
“Don’t worry, Captain. We have the Saintess’s charms protecting us.”
“With these, we can block most attacks and impacts.”
The knights laughed brightly. They had managed to fight monsters with barely functioning charms before, so now, having fully effective ones made them feel invincible.
“That’s true… But that’s why you all need to protect Meteora properly.”
“Of course!”
Hearing their enthusiastic response, Meteora couldn’t help but smile.
“I can take care of myself, you know.”
But when they finally reached the border, she realized—while she could defend herself, she wouldn’t have the luxury to support the knights at the same time.

The Battle at the Border:
“Archers, move to the sides! The vanguard will charge in, so provide cover!”
“Yes, sir!”
Just as they were nearing the border, deep growls echoed from ahead. Suddenly, a group of monsters came charging toward them, their thundering footsteps shaking the ground.
At a glance, there were three of them—each as large as a house and as fierce as lions. But the rumbling beneath their feet signaled that more were on the way.
Everyone leaped off their horses and took battle positions immediately.
“Meteora! Put up a barrier to keep these things from getting deeper into the kingdom!”
“Understood!”
Raising her staff, Meteora cast a massive barrier over the area. One of the knights gasped in astonishment.
“Whoa, that thing is huge!”
“The barrier stretches so far I can’t even see the edges! You really are incredible, Meteora!”
“Thank you, but focus on the front! The monsters are still coming!”
“Oh, crap!”
The knight who had been admiring the barrier quickly dodged as one of the monsters fired venomous needles at him.
While maintaining the large barrier, Meteora also reinforced a smaller one around herself to keep the monsters at bay.
From above, Lionel—who had leaped high into the air—shouted in encouragement.
“Good work! But with this many monsters, we can’t spare anyone to guard you! You’ll have to protect yourself!”
As he called out, he landed skillfully on the back of the leading monster. Without hesitation, he drove his sword straight into its eye—just as he had done many times before.
