Banishment is Fine: As a Genius Saint, I Can Shine Anywhere. - Chapter 3
The Unrelenting Battle:
“GUGYAAAAAAA!!”
The monster’s dying scream signaled the next attack. The knights armed with bows fired a rain of arrows, while those wielding spears and swords charged at the remaining creatures.
“GYAOOOO!!”
“Don’t back down! With the Saintess’s charms, we’re invincible!”
“Yeah!”
The knights fought in teams of five—three archers provided cover while two engaged in close combat with swords and spears.
Lionel, however, fought alone, striking the monsters’ weak points with pinpoint precision. The archers finished off any creatures writhing in pain from his attacks.
(I want to help too…)
But Meteora was too occupied holding back the monsters that slipped past the knights’ defenses. Each one was as large as a house, and their relentless charges made her barrier tremble violently, pushing it to its limit.
“Ugh…!”
One monster slammed its fists against the barrier, emitting a sharp cracking sound like shattering glass. Each impact thinned the barrier’s strength, forcing Meteora to focus on reinforcing it.
But no matter how fast she repaired it, the monsters kept hammering away, making it harder and harder to maintain.
“Enough already!”
Growing frustrated from being stuck on defense, Meteora forcefully expanded the barrier, sending the monsters flying backward.
“GYAAAAA!!”
The creatures howled as they were thrown back, but the attack only made them more enraged. Snarling, they charged at the barrier again with even greater ferocity.
At that moment, Lionel leaped high into the air, sword poised to strike.
“Your fight is with me!”
With the momentum of his descent, he plunged his blade deep into the throat of the monster lunging toward Meteora.
“GWEEEEEH!!”
Purple bl00d sprayed as the monster collapsed. Landing smoothly, Lionel drove his sword into its throat once more before propelling himself toward another beast.
“Hraaah!!”
His sword sliced through its neck in one clean stroke, and in no time, he had cut down the remaining creatures. Without pausing, he rushed back to the front lines, continuing to mow down the new wave of monsters.
The other knights fought valiantly as well, holding their five-man formation and slaying the monsters one after another.
“We’re taking them down, but there’s no end to them!”
“Saintess, can you push the barrier outward as we advance?”
The nearest knight called out.
“I’ll try!”
Meteora responded, carefully shifting the massive barrier as she stepped toward the border.
“This land is no longer yours! Get out!”
Lionel leaped high once more, cutting through another four-legged beast in a single slash. The monster split cleanly from head to torso, purple bl00d spilling as it collapsed.
“The monster wave has stopped! Get Meteora to the border, now!”
“Yes, sir!”
At Lionel’s command, the knights sprang into action. Two of them lifted Meteora from both sides, while three others formed a protective formation around her.
“W-Wait! I can walk on my own—”
“Just focus on keeping the barrier up! Let us carry you!”
Lionel barked out the order.
His bossy tone hadn’t changed since they first met, but for once, Meteora decided to listen. She tightened her grip on her staff, concentrating on maintaining the barrier.
“Charge straight ahead!”
“Ooooh!!”
With Lionel raising his sword high, the knights roared in unison, running at full speed toward the border.
Lionel, having strengthened his legs, was far ahead of the others. He arrived first and immediately began cutting down the monsters gathering at the border, striking them down one by one without hesitation.
