Banishment is Fine: As a Genius Saint, I Can Shine Anywhere. - Chapter 4
A deep, rumbling sound like a low growl echoed through the air, making everyone instinctively look up.
Just as they turned toward the window, the knights who had stepped outside to give them privacy burst through the doors, looked panicked.
“Captain! We’ve got a problem! A severely injured magic pigeon is flying straight toward us!”
“An injured magic pigeon?”
The three of them exchanged glances before rushing outside in unison.
A strange, heavy flapping sound filled the air. Looking up, they saw a magic pigeon flying toward them—but its flight was unnatural. It wasn’t soaring so much as desperately trying to stay aloft, slowly losing altitude with each unsteady flap.
Under Vice Captain Seguin’s command, the knights split into two groups—one to guide the magic pigeon and the other to warn the townspeople.
“The magic pigeon is coming in fast! Evacuate the buildings immediately!”
“Over here! Come on, just a little farther!”
The area descended into chaos as knights shouted orders, civilians fled in fear, and others tried to assist in guiding the bird. Meteora and the others hurried toward the spot where it was about to crash.
With each flap, the bird’s wings shook unnaturally as it continued to lose altitude. Finally, with a heavy thud, it collapsed into the open plaza where the knights had been trying to lead it.
“What the hell happened to it? It looks like it could drop dead at any second!”
“Make way for the Vice Captain! He knows the most about magic pigeons!”
The knights quickly stepped aside as Seguin approached the huge magical bird, having finished directing the townspeople to safety. Lionel followed closely behind him.
“Seguin, what’s the situation?”
“This poor thing… its wing has been deeply slashed. But more than that, the smell of bl00d is bad—really bad.”
Seguin’s expression darkened as he turned sharply to Meteora.
“Lady Saintess, you need to put up a barrier around this entire area now. Magic pigeons are originally magic beasts. If other creatures pick up the scent of its bl00d, they might swarm here thinking their comrade is in danger.”
“Understood.”
Meteora immediately raised her staff and expanded a barrier around the plaza.
“My goodness… what an advanced barrier!”
Chuli gasped in awe at the sheer scale and precision of Meteora’s magic.
Meteora turned to her.
“Lady Chuli, could you go to the townspeople and place protective charms around them? If monsters arrive, they will be in the most danger.”
“O-Of course!”
“I have plenty of charms in my bag back at the inn. Gather the people in one place and place the charms around them to form a protective circle.”
“Understood!”
Without hesitation, Chuli rushed off. At Lionel’s command, two knights followed her.
“Easy now! We just need to check your wounds, so calm down!”
Behind them, Seguin was doing his best to soothe the panicked magic pigeon.
But the injured bird was in agony and fear, flapping its damaged wings wildly and shrieking in distress.
While maintaining the barrier, Meteora hurried closer.
“I’ll use healing magic! The barrier will weaken while I do, so stay on guard!”
“Yes, ma’am!”
The knights quickly took formation while their weapons drawn, shielding the magic pigeon from any potential threats.
Raising her staff, Meteora directed her healing power into the wounded bird.
“…Guh…”
Healing a human was one thing, but healing an animal—especially a creature that had once been a magic beast—required immense concentration.
If she used too much power, it could harm the magic pigeon’s very soul, making it even more frantic.
She had no choice but to focus entirely on the delicate balance, even as the barrier around them grew dangerously thin.
