Banishment is Fine: As a Genius Saint, I Can Shine Anywhere. - Chapter 4
“…It’s healed. That should do it.”
Meteora, seeing that the magic pigeon had calmed down, released her concentration and quickly reinforced the barrier.
Seguin gently stroked the bird’s body, checking that the wound had properly closed.
“It looks like it’s fine now. Someone, bring a full bucket of water for it!”
At his command, the knights moved swiftly.
Meanwhile, Lionel carefully examined the pigeon, making sure there were no other injuries.
“It’s carrying a cargo. Is this a supply delivery for us?”
The letter they had sent only reported the border situation and requested reinforcements; they hadn’t asked for supplies.
Though suspicious, Lionel decided to act while the exhausted pigeon remained still.
“Untie the cargo!”
Just as the knights moved in to cut the ropes securing the cargo—
“Gyaaaaaugh!”
The pigeon let out a intense cry and twisted its body, but the knights swiftly leaped onto its back and severed the bindings with their swords.
With a loud clunk, the cargo crates tumbled to the ground, their lids popping open from the impact.
“What…!?”
The knights gasped, frozen in shock at what had spilled out.
Lionel’s eyes widened. “Hah…!?”
Even Meteora was left speechless.
“This is…!”
But before they could process it, a deep rumbling and a chorus of terrified screams erupted from the opposite side of the town.
Everyone instinctively turned toward the noise.
“Monsters! Monsters are attacking!”
A knight’s frantic voice rang out.
As the dust settled, a massive, snake-like monster came into their view, slithering forward with terrifying speed.
“No way, that thing is huge!”
The knights retreated in disbelief at the sheer scale of the approaching beast.
“Damn it, the magic pigeon’s bl00d must have lured it here!”
“But… but we have this here, don’t we!?”
One of the knights glanced anxiously between the scattered cargo contents and the advancing monster.
“It’s still too far away. The effect might not reach it. Three of you stay here! Meteora, shrink the barrier to its absolute minimum!”
“You don’t even need to say it!”
Meteora immediately reduced the barrier’s size until it only enclosed the magic pigeon and its three assigned guards.
The moment it was secure, Lionel dashed out.
“Everyone else, follow me!”
“Yes, sir!”
The knights sprang into action.
Lionel crouched low before launching himself into an enormous leap, bounding from rooftop to rooftop at an incredible speed toward the other side of town.
“Lady Saintess, you should go too! We’ll handle things here!”
“Understood… but whatever you do, don’t touch that! And make sure it doesn’t get blown away by the wind—secure it in the crates!”
“Of course!”
Meteora gave a final warning about the mysterious cargo before running fast, following Lionel and the others into battle.
