Banishment is Fine: As a Genius Saint, I Can Shine Anywhere. - Chapter 5
“—How is Lady Meteora?”
As soon as Lionel stepped out of the room, a quiet voice called to him. He turned to find Chuli standing there, draped in a night shawl over her sleepwear.
“Lady Chuli. Did I wake you up?”
“I’m a light sleeper. I was heading to the kitchen for some water when I saw you enter Lady Meteora’s room.”
Her gaze drifted toward the door where Meteora was resting. As a fellow Saintess, her concern was evident.
“She’s calmer now, but her fever is still high. I told her to get some rest.”
“That’s a relief. After using that much power, it’s normal to be bedridden for five days.
The fact that she regained consciousness in half a day is… unbelievable.”
Chuli exhaled softly and shook her head slightly.
Just then, a knight on patrol approached from the hallway.
“Ah, Captain. Lady Chuli. Good evening. It’s time to switch shifts for the watch.”
“I’ll be there soon.”
“If you’re busy, I can have someone else take over. You need rest too, Captain. Enhanced human or not, your strength is only in your legs, not your stamina.”
“…Thanks for the reminder.”
Lionel’s face twitched slightly, but he decided to accept the consideration.
“Actually, I need to speak with Lady Chuli for a moment. Go ahead and rotate the watch without me.”
“Understood. At least get some sleep before dawn.”
The knight waved lightly before heading toward the common hall where the others were resting.
“—So, what did you want to talk about?”
“I appreciate it. Things have been hectic since we got here. Let’s use the lounge.”
Chuli led the way, lighting a lamp as they entered the room.
“First of all, I’m relieved Lady Meteora regained consciousness.”
“Same here. But… from your perspective, what do you make of her?”
“…What do you mean?”
Lionel didn’t hesitate.
“She calls herself a genius, and it’s clear she has the talent to back it up.
You mentioned before that a Saintess of her caliber only appears once every two hundred years.”
“Yes. That’s historically recorded, so it’s a fact.
But even so, Lady Meteora’s power is astonishing.
Frankly… she doesn’t seem human.”
Chuli frowned, placing a thoughtful hand on her chin.
“There’s an old legend—though it’s more like a fairy tale.
Meteora might be what they call a Savior Saintess.”
“A Savior Saintess?”
The unfamiliar term made Lionel blink.
“I don’t know much about it myself.
But I recall reading that whenever an extremely powerful Saintess appears, some great calamity follows.”
Calamities—famine, plague.
Severe cold could lead to crop failures and mass starvation. Epidemics could wipe out entire populations.
And in those dark times, a Saintess with extraordinary power was always born.
She would heal the sick, aid the suffering, and prevent the nation’s downfall…
At least, that’s what the old stories say.
