- Chapter 37 - Can You Handle It?
The two had been intimately acquainted for what felt like three to five days now.
Li Xuan Yue was beginning to understand Jun He a little better.
She knew he wasn’t as volatile and temperamental as the rumors made him out to be, so her initial prejudice against him had gradually faded.
Li Xuan Yue pushed him away lightly. “Don’t get too close to me.”
Her tone was laced with impatience.
Ever since his rut began, he had been relentless.
Though she was resilient, his boundless energy throughout the day was genuinely frightening.
She feared that once these thirty days of his rut were over, he’d be satisfied.
But she’d be completely spent.
Jun He’s eyes darkened with displeasure at her resistance.
However, being someone who excelled at restraint, he ultimately withdrew the hand he had been reaching toward her.
Nearby, Yin Xin did her best to pretend she hadn’t seen or heard anything.
In her eyes, their princess was simply magnificent.
Even in bed, she remained so commanding and decisive.
Truly admirable.
“Yin Xin, later, follow my orders and send two of our people to spread the word about Princess Qing He and the Second Prince.”
Hadn’t Li Qing He always enjoyed stabbing her in the back?
This time, she’d let her experience what it felt like to be the one stabbed.
“Yes!”
Yin Xin’s eyes gleamed as she immediately grasped Li Xuan Yue’s intentions.
Li Qing He’s sudden marriage proposal to the Second Prince of the Snake Clan was indeed unexpected.
But to outsiders, someone as unruly as the Second Prince would never willingly submit to a woman.
Li Xuan Yue’s goal was to make it known that Li Qing He had schemed against Jun Mo.
As for what consequences these rumors would bring.
That wasn’t her concern.
It was Li Qing He’s problem to deal with.
“Aren’t you afraid she’ll retaliate later?” Jun He asked, growing increasingly intrigued by this woman.
In his past life, he had only met her once before their marriage and knew little else about her.
But now, watching her maneuver with such ease and precision.
It was truly captivating.
“Let her try,” Li Xuan Yue replied dismissively.
She’d welcome it if her dear sister dared to make a move.
“Princess, Physician Liu has arrived.”
Just as the two were speaking, Xiao Han entered the hall with his sword at his side.
Li Xuan Yue lowered her gaze. “Let him in.”
The past few days of indulgence had indeed taken a toll on her.
No wonder Physician Liu had rushed over in concern.
Before long, Physician Liu entered the hall with his medicine chest.
“No need for formalities, Physician Liu.”
Before he could bow, Li Xuan Yue stopped him.
“Let’s get straight to the point.”
Physician Liu didn’t hesitate. He set down his chest and immediately stepped forward to take her pulse.
As he did, his gaze flickered toward Jun He.
Li Xuan Yue noticed and so did Jun He himself.
Once Physician Liu withdrew his hand, Jun He spoke up.
“Physician Liu, you looked at me while examining the princess. Is there something you wish to say to me?”
Divine Physician Liu raised his hand in a respectful salute to Jun He. “Your Highness, have you had your twelve meridians sealed?”
Jun He frowned. “How did Physician Liu come to know this?”
The matter of his twelve meridians being sealed was known only to the serpent tribe and Jun Mo. He had never spoken of it to anyone else. Could it be that the woman beside him had informed this physician?
Li Xuan Yue naturally noticed the man’s gaze and immediately understood. “Don’t look at me,” she said helplessly. “I didn’t tell anyone about your sealed meridians. In fact, I didn’t even know about it.”
It was only when Physician Liu mentioned it that she recalled how defenseless Jun He had been that night in the peach grove. Could his inability to resist have been due to his powers being sealed? The more Li Xuan Yue thought about it, the more alarmed she became. If she hadn’t intervened in time, wouldn’t Jun Mo have beaten him to death?
“Your Highness,” Physician Liu said calmly, “though the sealing of your twelve meridians may seem minor, the twelve golden needles still wander within your body. To preserve your life, it would be best to avoid anger and strenuous activities. Should the needles reach your heart, it may be too late to save you.”
Physician Liu only offered this warning out of respect for Li Xuan Yue. Ordinarily, he wouldn’t have concerned himself with another’s fate.
Li Xuan Yue’s heart clenched at his words. “Physician Liu, is there a way to treat him? Can you unseal his meridians and remove the needles?”
Stroking his white beard, Physician Liu pondered for a moment. “There is, but it will be excruciating.”
Li Xuan Yue turned to Jun He. “Can you endure it?”
Looking at his delicate appearance, she worried he might faint halfway through the procedure.
Jun He met her concerned gaze with an amused smile. “What do you think?”
He had already endured what most could not. How could twelve mere needles be beyond his tolerance?
“I can,” Jun He said to Physician Liu. “When will you proceed?”
Before coming to the Phoenix tribe, he had sought out many renowned physicians, yet none could help with the needles inside him. He had resigned himself to living with them forever, never expecting such a turn of events. Though inwardly elated, he maintained his composure.
“Not now,” Physician Liu replied. “Your Highness must recuperate and regain your strength before we begin.”
His words were a thinly veiled remark on Jun He’s current frailty.
Jun He coughed lightly in embarrassment, and Li Xuan Yue also felt awkward. “Very well. For now, Consort Jun shall rest in Jun He Hall to recover. Once he is well, Physician Liu can remove the needles.”
This arrangement also allowed her some much-needed rest. Freed from Jun He’s attentions, Li Xuan Yue quickly regained her vigor. For the next two days, she appeared before the four tribes in high spirits, her smile unwavering from the moment she entered the hall. Anyone unaware might have thought she had stumbled upon a fortune.
Shufen nearby couldn’t help but glance her way.
“Princess Xuanyue seems to be in high spirits today?”
Shufen asked with a smile, “Did something good happen?”
