Being a Tutor to a Rich, Psychopathic Young Lady - Chapter 42
Chapter 42
“You’re back?” Xiao Dengqu looked up at her. Shi Mingyue snapped out of her daze and nodded. Shi Mingyue walked over to her and sat down. Xiao Dengqu’s eyes were sparkling when she looked at her, so much so that Shi Mingyue felt dazzled.
The water spray swayed to her side, and the dampness dispelled the heat of early autumn. Shi Mingyue sat down with her, not knowing what to say.
Perhaps it was due to mental exhaustion. She lowered her head, her forehead resting on her legs. After about ten minutes, she turned her head and asked Xiao Dengqu, “Why are you sitting here?”
Before she could finish her sentence, Xiao Dengqu kissed her on the lips. She didn’t react, her eyes wide open. A little while later, her fine eyelashes brushed against the skin under her eyes.
Xiao Dengqu knelt in front of her and kissed her lips gently and lightly. Shi Mingyue felt “tenderness” from her. This person, who had always been so reckless, now seemed a little mature.
After kissing her, Xiao Dengqu pursed her thin lips and said, “I missed you so much.”
Shi Mingyue hummed and buried her face in her arms again. When she looked at Xiao Dengqu again, Xiao Dengqu said softly, “Teacher, you’re so pretty.” She leaned against her. “Is it because I missed you so much? I always feel like Teacher is so beautiful, and I want to keep looking at you.”
The cute and playful words fell into her ears. Shi Mingyue’s lips curled into a smile. She looked at Xiao Dengqu, and her thoughts began to dissipate again. She reached out and picked a leaf from Xiao Dengqu’s hair.
She curled her fingers and flicked the small leaf away.
Shi Mingyue replied in a very soft voice.
After that, she quietly looked at Xiao Dengqu, as if time had stopped. She didn’t move, and the story didn’t move forward. The dull pain she had felt for many days seemed to have eased.
She thought of that bracelet. It was the first time in Zou Huiqin’s life that she had received gold. She must have been very happy and liked it a lot. She wondered if she had ever worn it even once.
Xiao Dengqu leaned in to look at her. “Hmm? Why are you staring at me?”
Shi Mingyue said, “Because you’re pretty to look at.”
“And, I’m just a little tired.”
Because she came at eleven, it was only twelve-thirty. Xiao Dengqu leaned back and lay down on the grass. She said, “I’m a little tired too.” After a moment, she added, “But, I had to wait for you to come.”
Yangyang came over to call them for lunch. Xiao Dengqu got up and limped forward. Shi Mingyue reached out and supported her. The two of them arrived at the living room. Shi Chengyue wasn’t there for lunch. The dishes today were quite rich. Xiao Dengqu kept putting food on her plate. Shi Mingyue didn’t have a good appetite, but she still ate some seriously.
Shi Mingyue went to Xiao Dengqu’s room to teach her. The butler came to collect the contract.
“So you’re not living here? Why not?” Xiao Dengqu asked unhappily, showing her displeasure.
Shi Mingyue said, “My school year has started.”
Xiao Dengqu said, “Aren’t seniors not busy?”
“I’ve joined the lab and am studying with my professor,” Shi Mingyue said. “I have to record data and draw design blueprints every day.”
Xiao Dengqu was silent. Shi Mingyue said, “It’s very hard.”
Shi Mingyue said slowly, “Later, I might not be able to handle so many of your classes. Your dad might need to find you a new teacher.”
Xiao Dengqu lowered her head. A feeling of unhappiness surged. She asked, “How tired are you?”
“Sometimes I can’t sleep well. My head feels dizzy,” Shi Mingyue said.
Xiao Dengqu suddenly leaned in and stared into her eyes. Shi Mingyue thought she was going to kiss her. Since the butler was there, she shifted her gaze to the window.
Xiao Dengqu’s fingers touched her eyes. “They’re swollen.”
“Okay, then you can sleep at school.” Xiao Dengqu thought about it and then said, “When I have time, I’ll just go to your school.”
Shi Mingyue had wanted to say that she probably wouldn’t have time at school because the lab was too busy. She had to take a lot of measurements and watch over them. She was afraid Xiao Dengqu would be unhappy, so Shi Mingyue nodded. “Okay.”
Xiao Dengqu seemed very unhappy and uninterested, but at least she didn’t throw a tantrum. While doing her homework, she asked a question on her own. “How is your mom?”
Shi Mingyue’s heart tightened. Just then, a message came on her phone. Her professor sent her project information and told her to contact her senior classmates and ask for some direction. Her schedule was packed. She added her senior classmates on WeChat and said, “She’s fine.”
Shi Mingyue’s grades were excellent, but since she just joined the team, she had to get familiar with the environment and learn more knowledge. She couldn’t be limited to textbooks anymore.
Shi Mingyue taught Xiao Dengqu for forty minutes and gave her some homework. Xiao Dengqu did it for ten minutes and then looked at Shi Mingyue. Shi Mingyue had fallen asleep on the table.
Xiao Dengqu rested her chin on her hand and watched her. She extended her pen to move her bangs. She looked at her beautiful sleeping face. She frowned. She was sleeping very deeply, as if she hadn’t had a good night’s sleep in a long time.
Xiao Dengqu knelt on the tatami and kissed Shi Mingyue. After kissing her, she looked out the door. Shi Chengyue was standing at the door, staring at her.
Mm-hmm. Xiao Dengqu felt that she had been very well-behaved recently. She leaned in and kissed her again, completely ignoring Shi Chengyue.
When Shi Mingyue woke up, her eyelids felt cool. She reached up and touched them twice before taking them off. They were eye patches with a faint fragrance. Xiao Dengqu smiled and said, “I put them on you. Do you feel better?”
She held the eye patches in her hand. The soreness in her eyes had indeed disappeared. Shi Mingyue said, “Thank you.”
Shi Mingyue corrected her homework. Xiao Dengqu had done very well, with only a few minor issues. Shi Mingyue explained them to her again.
Shi Mingyue wasn’t eating here tonight. She had to go back to the lab. Xiao Dengqu drove her to school. The car stopped at her dorm, and she followed her up. Xiao Dengqu had wanted to wait in the dorm, but then she got curious and followed her to the lab.
Shi Mingyue didn’t want to take her into the lab. Xiao Dengqu said, “I’ll wait for you downstairs.”
“Don’t wait. There are too many mosquitoes,” Shi Mingyue remembered that her delicate skin had been bitten a lot last time.
“But, I miss you so much. We’ve only been together for four and a half hours today,” Xiao Dengqu said stubbornly. “I’ll wait in the car.”
Shi Mingyue was silent. Xiao Dengqu said, “I’m watching an anime. No one plays with me back home. I’m so bored. I can at least see you here.”
Shi Mingyue pursed her lips and clenched her fingers. In the end, she nodded.
Shi Mingyue went upstairs to the lab. She was usually very focused, but today she was a little distracted. She wanted to look at the window, but she was afraid to look at the window.
She kept thinking about Xiao Dengqu waiting for her downstairs.
Her senior classmate taught her how to use the equipment and how to record data. She tried hard to listen. After her senior classmate left, she operated it a few more times by herself.
The car’s lights were on downstairs.
Shi Mingyue got into the car. Xiao Dengqu was holding a box. She opened it and said to Shi Mingyue, “I bought some fruit. I wasn’t waiting downstairs the whole time.”
Shi Mingyue’s guilty expression disappeared a lot. Shi Mingyue took a bamboo skewer from her hand. She ate a piece of cantaloupe. “It’s very sweet.” The fruit sold at the school’s fruit store was always cold and fresh. This one was no longer cold. Shi Mingyue ate and looked at her. Xiao Dengqu seemed to have the scent of fruit on her.
The driver took them to McDonald’s. Xiao Dengqu told Shi Mingyue that she had eaten this when she was a child. She actually didn’t like it very much. She would see other kids liking it, so she would pretend and say it was delicious. She would ask her dad to take her there every time. Her dad would feel helpless, but he would also feel that she was no different from other kids, and his eyes would show a kind of helpless doting.
Her dad would be satisfied with her like that.
Shi Mingyue asked her if she wanted to eat. After she said yes, she handed her the dipping sauce.
“They make it so much more delicious now. It’s so delicious when I’m with Teacher,” Xiao Dengqu asked herself. “That’s so strange.”
At night, Xiao Dengqu successfully stayed in Shi Mingyue’s dorm. This time, Shi Mingyue didn’t sleep on the floor. They got on the bed together. Xiao Dengqu took a shower and used her shower gel. She insisted on sticking to her, with their heads squeezed together to sleep.
Xiao Dengqu’s body temperature was higher than Shi Mingyue’s. She hugged Shi Mingyue, and her hands were on Shi Mingyue’s body, touching and pinching. She would lean in from time to time to sniff Shi Mingyue, saying that she smelled good.
Shi Mingyue thought to herself, “You’re talking about yourself.”
“Let’s sleep.”
Xiao Dengqu hummed. She hugged Shi Mingyue tightly, put her leg on Shi Mingyue’s body, and didn’t stop talking. She said she had washed her underwear.
Shi Mingyue replied that she was so obedient.
She also said, “I’m also studying very hard.”
Shi Mingyue said she was very disciplined.
Xiao Dengqu kept rambling, rubbing her forehead against Shi Mingyue’s back, and said with a lot of dissatisfaction, “Then why don’t you say that you missed me?”
Shi Mingyue’s lips moved. After Xiao Dengqu rubbed, her teeth were itching. She bit her on the back of the shoulder. Shi Mingyue’s hand landed on her hand and pinched it hard.
Xiao Dengqu really wanted to do something. She felt that Shi Mingyue wouldn’t refuse, but she inexplicably felt that Shi Mingyue was very tired, very, very sleepy.
She just carefully kissed Shi Mingyue’s shoulder, then kissed the back of Shi Mingyue’s shoulder, to relieve the temptation of the scent in her nasal cavity. She leaned against the back of Shi Mingyue’s neck and whispered in her ear, “It’s so comfortable to hug Teacher in the summer. It’s so cool. I love it so much.”
She seemed to be transferring heat. The heat went along Shi Mingyue’s ear and into the nerves in her body. She was sensitive and felt the “so comfortable” that Xiao Dengqu was talking about… It was very hidden. She didn’t want to say it out loud. She pulled down her clothes to cover it.
Shi Mingyue fell asleep. Her dreams were floating, but at least she slept until dawn. The nausea only came when it was dawn.
Shi Mingyue felt a lot better.
For the next month, Shi Mingyue went back and forth between the lab and the Xiao family’s house. Most of the time, the Xiao family’s car came to pick her up. If she didn’t have a music class at night, Xiao Dengqu would often wait for her downstairs at the lab.
Xiao Dengqu had a lot of classes. She would complain that she hated music class, that it didn’t sound good, that it was boring, that she really hated it, and that she was happiest when she was with her teacher.
Cheng Jin didn’t cut off contact with her because of the last incident. She thought that since her mom had passed away, she must be in a bad mood, and she wanted to comfort her.
When Shi Mingyue was at school, she would ask her to come out for a walk, but most of the time Shi Mingyue didn’t have time. She was either in the lab or at the library. When she was eating, she was still using her phone to look up information and read papers, as if she had become a learning machine.
Cheng Jin asked her if she was tired. Shi Mingyue said she wasn’t tired if she liked it.
One time, Cheng Jin went to the lab to find Shi Mingyue. From a distance, she saw Xiao Dengqu waiting for her downstairs at the lab. Cheng Jin stood there for a while.
Xiao Dengqu also saw her. She smiled and greeted her, sweetly calling her “cousin.” Cheng Jin frowned and said, “Alright, stop pretending. I know you’re showing off.”
Xiao Dengqu put her raised hand back. She pursed her lips. With the streetlight behind her, she smiled again, getting rid of her obedient look and becoming very smug.
Cheng Jin said, “Don’t come near me. I didn’t bully you.”
Xiao Dengqu said softly, “Mm-hmm, cousin. I’ve always known that the child who cries gets candy, and the obedient child only gets wronged.”
But the child who is both obedient and bad gets everything she wants.
“Cousin, did you just find out now? You’re so silly.” Xiao Dengqu gave her a malicious smile. “Didn’t you also hate me, cousin?”
Cheng Jin clenched her hands tightly. “You…”
Xiao Dengqu still looked very well-behaved. “It was cousin who gave Teacher to me. Thank you, cousin.”
Cheng Jin saw the lights in the lab building go out. She didn’t stay long. Shi Mingyue would come down soon. If Xiao Dengqu started crying and acting all innocent again, Shi Mingyue would fall for her tricks.
In the end, Cheng Jin turned around and took another path. Shi Mingyue came down from the building. Xiao Dengqu went to hold Shi Mingyue’s hand. They were very intimate.
…
In October, Xiao Dengqu still hadn’t started school. She would come to wait for Shi Mingyue to get out of the lab for no reason. Many times, she didn’t even tell Shi Mingyue. When Shi Mingyue went downstairs, she would see her sitting on the flowerbed.
Shi Mingyue asked her, and she would say that there were no mosquitoes in October, so they wouldn’t bite her. She would pull up her pants to show her lower leg.
However, this period didn’t last long. Shi Chengyue drove to school to talk to Shi Mingyue because Xiao Dengqu suddenly changed her mind and didn’t want to study abroad. This was undoubtedly a deviation from the path Shi Chengyue had planned for her.
The two of them ate at a restaurant near the school. Shi Chengyue asked for a private room. The place wasn’t fancy, but it was very quiet.
“I originally wanted to arrange for her to study music. Of course, it’s good that you’re willing to be with her for her whole senior year of high school, but you don’t seem to have the energy.” Shi Chengyue seemed to be afraid that Shi Mingyue would take responsibility. He said, “Your current state is already overloaded, isn’t it?”
Shi Mingyue had been unable to find a suitable word to describe her state, but now this word was perfect.
She was indeed overloaded.
Shi Mingyue didn’t feel relieved after getting rid of the burden of Zou Huiqin. She was tired and exhausted every day, falling into a temporary state of numbness.
Shi Chengyue spoke slowly. “Did you get a guaranteed spot for your master’s?”
“I’m still going through the process. I have to wait for the public notice period to be confirmed,” Shi Mingyue said.
Shi Chengyue said, “I thought you would go abroad with her.”
Shi Mingyue shook her head. Going abroad was not her choice. Shi Chengyue said, “Your choice is not wrong. If you were willing to go with her, you would be her nanny forever.”
During the time she was short on money, Shi Mingyue was willing to be a nanny. Maybe she had guessed that this day would come. Shi Mingyue wasn’t as nervous as she was during their first conversation. “Xiaoqu doesn’t see me as a nanny.”
Shi Chengyue said, “If you need money…”
“I don’t need it anymore.” Shi Mingyue rejected his subsequent suggestion, just as she did at the funeral. The person was gone, and she wasn’t so short on money anymore. The debts could be paid off slowly.
Shi Chengyue’s finger slid over a bank card and took out a business card. “I’ve taken Xiao Dengqu there before. I think you should go and see it too.”
Shi Mingyue shook her head. “I don’t really need to.”
Shi Chengyue still took out the card and placed it on the table. “Keep it. You need to complete your studies. It’ll come in handy.”
Shi Mingyue asked, “Do you really want me to take it?”
Shi Chengyue said, “I just think you might be able to live in a more relaxed way. Young people don’t need to have so much pressure. It’s better to have money.”
In a way, the Xiao father and daughter were very similar. They could always say things that were enticing. Shi Mingyue said, “What method will you use to take her away?”
“You don’t need to worry about that. There are plenty of ways,” Shi Chengyue said. “As long as you don’t try to make her stay, she’ll leave.”
As long as you don’t try to make her stay.
She’ll leave.
Shi Mingyue had always sat politely across from him. This time, she took a sip of tea. After a while, Shi Mingyue finished her tea and said, “Then, if she doesn’t leave, what will you do?”
Shi Chengyue’s tone became very cold. “I’ll stop all her spending. If she doesn’t want to study, then she won’t.”
Shi Mingyue was silent for a long time. She said, “Please don’t do that. Talk to her properly. She should listen.”
“You don’t understand her very well,” Shi Chengyue said.
After that, Shi Mingyue said something in a very soft voice that Shi Chengyue didn’t understand. He said, “Are you sick?”
Shi Mingyue shook her head. “No.”
She repeated the words that Shi Chengyue didn’t understand. “If I tried to make her stay, would she… not leave?”
Shi Chengyue crossed his hands and saw right through her. “Are you using this as a metaphor for your mom? Why are you trying to get an answer from me?”
Shi Mingyue looked at him. Shi Chengyue was wearing a suit and glasses. He was knowledgeable, well-traveled, elegant, and the most successful person sitting in the restaurant. Shi Mingyue couldn’t ask her aunt this question. Her aunt would say that it was her mom’s own choice and that she brought it on herself, but that wasn’t the answer she wanted.
Shi Mingyue said, “You are the most… amazing adult I’ve ever met. You’re also a responsible parent, and what you say has authority.”
At this moment, Shi Chengyue had to admit that he didn’t seem to be worthy of this honor. He gave her an answer. “You can’t make her stay. There are too many external factors, and the internal factors can’t find a way out. At that time, at that point, you couldn’t make her stay because whether she leaves or not is not up to you.”
“I’ll have a good talk with her. This is related to her future.” Shi Mingyue looked up again and said seriously, “Ask her what she wants to learn. She doesn’t seem to like music very much. Let her choose for herself. It’s like fried chicken. When you give it to her, ask her if she wants to eat it first. If you ask, she’ll be very happy.”
Shi Chengyue just replied, “Don’t be so responsible. Xiao Dengqu is not your responsibility. Take care of yourself.”
When she left, Shi Mingyue took something from the table.
Shi Mingyue returned to school and suddenly felt so tired. She sat at the dorm entrance for a while. Then she looked up at the sky. When she looked down, she tore up the business card.
Shi Chengyue said he would stop all of Xiao Dengqu’s spending and not let her study. She was actually thinking if the money she had could still support Xiao Dengqu’s studies.
In the end, she realized, ah, she couldn’t support her.
Actually, no one has ever been unable to survive. It seems like the only one who couldn’t survive was Shi Mingyue.
The next day, it rained. Shi Mingyue held an umbrella and went to the lab. She worked until six-thirty in the afternoon. Because of the rain, the sky was dark. When Shi Mingyue came out, a pink Bentley was parked at the entrance.
Shi Mingyue stood next to the car with her umbrella. Xiao Dengqu immediately got out of the car. Shi Mingyue took a step forward, tilting the umbrella down to cover her head. Xiao Dengqu had brought her own umbrella, a cute blue Doraemon one. She immediately threw her umbrella aside and said, “This umbrella is a sun umbrella. It’ll break if I open it. I’ll use Teacher’s umbrella.”
After walking for a long, long time, Shi Mingyue said, “Is your dad going to take you abroad?”
“No,” Xiao Dengqu said. “He can’t control me.”
Shi Mingyue guessed that they hadn’t come to a conclusion. “Your dad’s educational resources are very good. You should prioritize your studies.”
“I can also get into a very good university if I study in China,” Xiao Dengqu said. “Hmph, he’s doing this on purpose.”
Shi Mingyue stopped walking and said, “Xiao Dengqu, I won’t have the energy to teach you anymore.”
Xiao Dengqu was silent for a moment, then she turned her head to look at her. Shi Mingyue said, “I’m sorry. I also have to focus on my studies. I’ve liked airplanes since I was little, and I like the state of flying very high. I want to think about myself.”
Xiao Dengqu looked at her intently, trying to process her words and understand her. Shi Mingyue said, “I don’t have time to tutor you. Thank you for taking care of me during this time.”
Xiao Dengqu frowned, her eyes fixed on her expression, giving Shi Mingyue an intense pressure. Xiao Dengqu’s tone was quite cold. She said, “You don’t need to thank me, Teacher.”
Shi Mingyue was a little evasive. She said, “I’m sorry. I said from the beginning that we weren’t in a relationship, that I only have a tutor-student relationship with you…”
Before she could finish, Xiao Dengqu grabbed her hand hard. Shi Mingyue was startled and pulled back. Xiao Dengqu said, “Teacher, the rain is too heavy. I can’t hear what you’re saying. Let’s talk somewhere else.”
Xiao Dengqu pulled her towards the car, but halfway there, Shi Mingyue struggled to make her let go. Xiao Dengqu pulled her hard and said, “You said last time that you wouldn’t run away.”
Shi Mingyue said, “I’m not running away. I’m right here.”
But Xiao Dengqu still pulled her. The umbrella wasn’t held properly, and the rain pattered down on both of them. Shi Mingyue was struggling. Maybe because she hadn’t been eating well recently, Shi Mingyue had almost no strength. She was pulled directly to the car door, but no matter how hard Xiao Dengqu pulled, she couldn’t open the door. The car door was locked. Xiao Dengqu pulled the door with all her might, but it didn’t budge. In the end, she punched it.
The door of the Bentley parked behind them opened. Shi Chengyue got out of the car. He said to the person behind him, “Take the young lady away.”
Xiao Dengqu’s eyes immediately locked onto Shi Mingyue. At that moment, she thought they had planned this.
The person behind Shi Chengyue went to grab Xiao Dengqu. Shi Mingyue instinctively went to block for Xiao Dengqu, but a few people took a big step and grabbed her. Xiao Dengqu didn’t even try to run.
No one was surprised by this outcome. Everyone knew that Xiao Dengqu wouldn’t leave. She had been in the villa for a long time. Everything was new to her. She had nowhere else to go.
Shi Mingyue’s hand had not yet had time to act before it was stopped. Xiao Dengqu was pulled away and pushed into the car.
Shi Mingyue stood there. Through the car window, Xiao Dengqu’s eyes were fixed on her. Xiao Dengqu was very sharp. She had changed from a little rabbit to a leopard. Shi Mingyue only now caught a glimpse of her spots.
Although Xiao Dengqu had hit her dad and lied, she was still very obedient.
She didn’t yell or scream. She just questioned her with her eyes.
The rain was coming down too hard. Shi Mingyue couldn’t tell if she was crying or if she was ready. This time, she looked back and wanted to say something to Xiao Dengqu, but the car sped past her. All she saw was Xiao Dengqu’s eyes glaring at her, as if she was saying, “You lied to me.”
