Being the Diva’s Rumored Girlfriend [Entertainment Industry] - Chapter 10
“Are those two people sitting in the corner of the infusion room…”
“You saw it too, right? That looks like Mu Yunshu!”
“Wow, she’s even more beautiful in person than on TV!”
“Right, right, right, right!”
“She’s absolutely stunning!!!! Aaaaaah I’m her biggest fan!!!!”
The nurses in the infusion room huddled together chattering excitedly, all eyes fixed on Mu Yunshu and Mi Man in the far corner.
There in the corner seats, two people were nestled close together—Mi Man and Mu Yunshu, who had come for treatment after today’s show recording.
Mi Man had had a tough day. No sooner had she arrived and gotten her IV than she began dozing off.
To make her more comfortable, Mu Yunshu wrapped an arm around her, letting Mi Man rest her head on her shoulder while gently warming the hand receiving the IV drip.
Even in sleep, Mi Man seemed restless, her brows tightly furrowed in apparent discomfort.
Noticing the nurses’ whispers, Mu Yunshu slowly lifted her head and smiled at them, then placed a finger against her peach-colored lips in a gesture for quiet.
The nurses: “!!!!”
The superstar acknowledged us aaaaaaaaaah!!!!!!
Everyone knew Mu Yunshu was a top-tier celebrity famous across the nation—even non-fans would recognize her unless they’d just gotten internet access.
Running into such a famous artist naturally thrilled the nurses, some of whom were die-hard fans!
They immediately posted Mu Yunshu’s photo in her official fan group—
AAAAAH sisters come quick look who I saw in our hospital’s infusion room!!!
It’s Mumu! Why’s she at the hospital?
Is Mumu sick????????
Doesn’t look like it—who’s that she’s holding!!!!
Mi Man!!!!!!
Awoooooooooo!!!!
Why is she everywhere!!!!!!!!
The already active group chat instantly exploded. Mi Man had become quite unpopular recently—after years of Mu Yunshu being single, suddenly having a girlfriend made many fans seethe with resentment.
However, a few rational fans noticed something amiss about the infusion room scene and asked—
What’s wrong with Mi Man? Why’s she getting an IV?
And she looks really worn out—is she sick?
Sick? More like being dramatic!
Exactly! Taking advantage of Mumu’s affection by pretending to be sick to upset us wuwuwuwu!
The nurse who’d shared the photo, seeing the commotion, chimed in:
Mi Man’s not faking—she’s genuinely ill with severe travel sickness. Heard she came right after filming wrapped
You mean she powered through a whole day?
Yeah, she was completely exhausted when brought in, looked terrible
Exhausted?? That serious???
Kind of pitiful
Hmph, travel sickness is just being dramatic
Don’t be heartless—travel sickness can be deadly serious, like allergies that can actually kill people
Being sick isn’t being dramatic—it can be life-threatening
“No matter what, Mi Man is genuinely sick, and it’s true she insisted on finishing the recording before going to the hospital. Everyone should stop speaking ill of the patient.”
“Alright, alright, we won’t say anything more. Nurse, please take more photos of Mumu! Make sure they’re clear—I want to use them as my wallpaper!”
“Count me in for the wallpaper! Just photoshop Mi Man out, thanks!”
“Thank you, nurse! May you stay forever young and blessed with good health!!!”
“The nurse is an angel! So is Mumu!!”
“Ahhhh I want Mumu to dote on me like that too!!!!”
“Damn that Mi Man ahhhhh!!!”
The fan group was in an uproar. Mu Xiaoxiao watched the rapidly scrolling messages and saved the photo of Mi Man leaning on Mu Yunshu’s shoulder.
After the previous misunderstanding, she had developed a keen interest in Mu Yunshu. Eventually, she disguised herself and created a small account to sneak into Mu Yunshu’s fan group, where she came across this photo.
Lying on the sofa and kicking her legs, she fiddled with her phone and muttered in confusion, “Manman is sick? No wonder she hasn’t responded to me all day…”
Hearing her muttering, the other members practicing yoga in the living room turned around and asked, “What’s wrong with Manman?”
Mu Xiaoxiao looked at them and said, “Manman seems to be suffering from acclimatization and is on an IV at the hospital. It doesn’t look good.”
“Really?”
“That’s so sad. Should we call and check on her?”
“Sure, I’ll grab my phone.”
Hearing that Mi Man was sick, they stopped exercising and picked up their phones from the coffee table.
Just as they were about to call Mi Man, Cheng Jing came downstairs in slippers.
She glanced at the group and asked, puzzled, “What are you all doing?”
It was workout time—why were they all gathered together?
Mu Xiaoxiao looked up at her and said thoughtfully, “Captain, Manman is sick. We were thinking of calling her. Do you want to join us?”
“Yeah, more people means more encouragement!”
“Manman has been timid since joining the group. Being alone outside and sick must be really lonely, right?”
As she listened, Cheng Jing frowned and said indifferently, “Isn’t she recording the show with Mu Yunshu? She must be taken care of.”
“It’s not the same. They’re a couple; we’re friends.”
Something about that remark seemed to strike a nerve. Cheng Jing’s expression darkened as she said, “Can a phone call from you take better care of her than Mu Yunshu? If not, then stop wasting time and get back to your workout. Managing your figure is more important than anything else.”
Having said that, she apparently didn’t want to stay downstairs any longer and turned to go back upstairs.
“Ugh, why is Cheng Jing so harsh today?”
“Aren’t she and Manman childhood friends? How heartless…”
“I thought they were really close…”
Mu Xiaoxiao glanced at the staircase and said to the others, “Never mind her. Let’s video call Manman and see how she’s doing.”
“Okay, okay, okay, okay!”
——————
In the darkness, Mi Man felt nothing but pain.
Her head ached. Her stomach ached.
Her mouth was unbearably bitter, making her feel as though hell couldn’t be worse.
In her dazed state, Mi Man slowly opened her eyes.
Probably due to filming all day and her already poor health, Mi Man completely relaxed her nerves upon arriving at the hospital and fell into a deep sleep.
When she opened her eyes and looked around, she found herself in her room at the suburban villa.
The surroundings were pitch black, and Mi Man could only guess it was nighttime, though she had no idea what time it was.
“Awake?”
Suddenly, a familiar voice came from the darkness, startling the just-awoken Mi Man.
Squinting, she finally spotted Mu Yunshu sitting in the corner, playing with her phone.
Likely to avoid disturbing Mi Man’s rest, Mu Yunshu had only left a dim nightlight by her feet, which was why Mi Man hadn’t noticed her immediately upon waking.
“Mmm…” Mi Man sat up in bed and looked at Mu Yunshu in the distance, asking somewhat awkwardly, “What time is it?”
Mu Yunshu glanced at her phone. “11 p.m.”
Mi Man was surprised. “Did I sleep that long?”
Mu Yunshu tilted her head with a faint smile but didn’t respond.
Rather than sleeping, it was more accurate to say Mi Man had been unconscious—her exhaustion had caused her to pass out completely at the hospital, and Mu Yunshu had carried her back.
“You weren’t feeling well, so I talked to the director. Everyone gets a day off tomorrow.”
Mu Yunshu crossed her legs, her long, slender limbs appearing especially striking under the dim lighting.
Standing over 1.7 meters tall, she was notably taller than most women, and as a celebrity, her proportions were widely regarded as perfect—certainly far better than Mi Man’s.
“Thank you,” Mi Man said gratefully. “You’ve helped me so much today…”
From the filming to the hospital visit, Mu Yunshu had stayed by her side. Without her, Mi Man might not even have known how she’d end up.
“No need,” Mu Yunshu chuckled softly. “Thanks to you, our relationship seems to have grown closer.”
Mi Man looked at her, puzzled.
Mu Yunshu’s decision to take Mi Man to the hospital tonight had already caused quite a stir, but she had no intention of telling her—seeing her clueless expression was… amusing.
Rising from the chair, Mu Yunshu said to Mi Man, “I’ll have someone prepare some food for you. Your phone’s been buzzing all night—someone’s probably looking for you. You should reply.”
Mi Man nodded and watched as Mu Yunshu left the room before picking up her phone.
Aside from video calls from Mu Xiaoxiao and others, there were several messages—
“Manman, are you okay? We heard you were really sick—we’re all worried!”
“If you’re not feeling well, just take a break. There’s a whole month left—no need to rush filming.”
“Xiaoxiao’s right. Don’t push yourself too hard.”
Reading their messages in the group chat warmed Mi Man’s heart. But as she scrolled up and down, she couldn’t find the one name she was hoping to see.
Oh well. Mi Man sighed. To others, she probably seemed perfectly happy now.
She had a superstar girlfriend, a group of wonderful friends, and a flourishing career.
By all appearances, she was the envy of many.
Mi Man hugged her knees as she watched the phone screen go black, feeling the familiar ache in her stomach return.
But all this seemingly happy facade was just a lie.
It was all a lie…
