Being the Diva’s Rumored Girlfriend [Entertainment Industry] - Chapter 15
“Don’t go…”
Mi Man felt the world spinning around her, nauseous and miserable. In her dazed state, she reached out and seemed to grab onto something, refusing to let go.
She wanted water, she wanted sleep, and she also wanted to throw up.
But Mi Man knew she couldn’t do anything in her current state. Yet stubbornly unwilling to give up, she could only clutch the person in her grasp and mumble something.
Mu Yunshu was momentarily stunned when Mi Man grabbed her. Everyone had been enjoying themselves tonight—after two exhausting months, they could finally go home for vacation, and the mood was jubilant.
It was already past one in the morning, and Mu Yunshu wasn’t sure what Mi Man meant by asking her to stay.
Could it be…?
After a moment’s thought, Mu Yunshu took Mi Man’s hand and held it in her own.
Mi Man seemed to sense something, letting out a long sigh in her sleep before snuggling closer into Mu Yunshu’s embrace.
Mu Yunshu thought Mi Man looked just like a pristine white kitten at that moment—playfully clawing yet clingy, craving affection.
“Don’t go…”
The person in her arms kept murmuring. Amused, Mu Yunshu looked down at her. Mi Man’s flushed cheeks looked utterly adorable.
Without hesitation, Mu Yunshu leaned down and kissed her cheek, murmuring softly, “Are you sure you want me to stay?”
The only response was Mi Man’s incoherent mumbling.
It was late, and given how tightly this girl was clinging to her, leaving now would be heartless. Mu Yunshu nuzzled Mi Man’s nose playfully and chuckled, “Well then, I’d be honored to oblige.”
Mi Man slept deeply that night.
She felt something warm and gentle holding her from behind, soothing the discomfort from her drunken state. When she woke up, she couldn’t tell if it had been a dream or reality.
A pair of slender, fair arms rested lightly around her waist, and behind her—just like in her dream—was warmth.
“Mmm…”
Her head throbbed from the alcohol, heavy and muddled.
At her soft groan, the arms around her tightened, pulling her closer.
Then, against her neck, she felt the unmistakable warmth of human breath. Goosebumps erupted all over her body.
“!!!!!”
She whipped her head around and was met with Mu Yunshu’s face right in front of hers. She jolted in shock!
Why—?!
Why was Mu Yunshu sleeping next to her?!?!
Mi Man’s face paled in horror. Panicked, she tried to scramble out of Mu Yunshu’s arms, but the moment she sat up, her throat clenched, her head spun, and she collapsed back down.
“Ugh…”
She clapped a hand over her mouth, barely holding back the urge to vomit. The sudden movement had her stomach churning violently.
Disturbed from her slumber, Mu Yunshu frowned before slowly waking. Seeing Mi Man curled up against her, she couldn’t help but smile, pulling her closer.
“Manman, I had no idea you’d be so… affectionate last night.”
Feeling the trembling in her arms, Mu Yunshu reassured her, “Don’t worry, I respect your boundaries. We only slept—nothing else happened.”
Mi Man gritted her teeth and glared up at her. What else did she want to do besides sleep?!
You beast!!!
You shameless woman!!!
Let go of me!!!!
Mi Man gritted her teeth without responding, breaking free from Mu Yunshu’s grasp before darting into the bathroom. She clung to the toilet bowl, vomiting everything in her stomach until she finally felt slightly better.
Suddenly, she pounded her thighs frantically against the toilet seat—
Alcohol causes trouble, alcohol causes trouble, alcohol causes trouble!
Mi Man, why don’t you ever listen???
Last time you drank, you ended up with a girlfriend. What did you get this time???
Huh???
A few more drinks, and you might even end up with four generations under one roof!
Leaning against the bathroom doorframe, Mu Yunshu found Mi Man’s flustered and embarrassed state utterly amusing. With a chuckle, she asked, “Feeling better now?”
Hearing someone behind her, Mi Man turned to look, her eyes red-rimmed as she replied, “A little better, thank you.”
Mu Yunshu simply smiled at her.
That smile sent shivers down Mi Man’s spine.
All she remembered from last night was getting carried away in the moment and having two drinks. But Mi Man couldn’t handle alcohol—two glasses were enough to make her lose all sense of direction.
And judging by Mu Yunshu’s peach-blossom eyes and smiling expression, Mi Man truly had no idea what she’d done the previous night.
Don’t tell me… she took advantage of her?
Remembering they were still professional collaborators, Mi Man could only stammer out an apology, her face burning red: “I don’t remember what I did last night… Did I do something wrong?”
Mi Man had known for a long time that she liked girls—especially elegant, beautiful, and sexy ones like Cheng Jing… or Mu Yunshu.
But she also knew she lacked the courage to act on it. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have remained just friends with Cheng Jing for twenty years despite her feelings.
Mu Yunshu tilted her head slightly, a mysterious smile playing on her pink lips as she said, “There’s no right or wrong here. Blame it on last night’s beautiful moonlight.”
What kind of answer was that????
Huh???
Mi Man’s head was full of question marks. She wanted to press further, but Mu Yunshu wasn’t willing to elaborate. With a wave of her hand, she said to Mi Man still sitting on the floor, “Take today off. We’re heading back tomorrow.”
With that, she turned and left the bathroom.
Hearing the door close behind Mu Yunshu, Mi Man blinked, unsure what to do.
Surely nothing major happened, right?
Scratching her head, Mi Man thought that although she couldn’t remember last night, both their clothes had been intact. It couldn’t have been anything too serious.
At most, they might have just slept together…
Mi Man’s face twisted in distress—wasn’t sleeping together already a huge deal!!!!!!
She could already imagine how Mu Yunshu’s fans would tear her apart online.
Ugh…
——————
From the moment she sobered up, Mi Man swore she would never touch alcohol again—not even alcohol-filled chocolates.
After that incident, everything about Mu Yunshu felt… off.
Off… and unsettling.
Especially when those amber eyes fixed on her, leaving Mi Man’s mind completely blank—a truly terrifying feeling.
Fortunately, this torturous state didn’t last long.
You An and the others had to rush off for schedules right after the show ended. Qi Ye also returned to his hometown with his wife, as summer was ending and Professor Jian Mo’s semester was about to begin.
After all the calculations, apart from the staff, Mi Man and her group were among the last to leave.
Mu Yunshu’s assistant had only been around for the first week of these two months, and was mostly absent otherwise. The flight tickets were booked online, and the two of them simply picked them up at the airport.
“The luggage has already been checked in. Someone will deliver it directly to your homes later,” said the program staff responsible for transporting the guests to Mu Yunshu and Mi Man. “This is a small gift from the production team. Please accept it.”
Mu Yunshu was accustomed to such things, but for Mi Man, it was the first time receiving a gift from a show, and she looked at it with wide-eyed curiosity.
Seeing that it was about time, Mu Yunshu turned to the staff seeing them off and said, “Thank you for your hard work. We’ll be heading back now.”
Before Mi Man could react, Mu Yunshu had already wrapped an arm around her and guided her toward the security checkpoint.
Carrying only small bags with their documents, they traveled light. Mi Man stole a glance at Mu Yunshu’s profile, her cheeks flushing slightly, before finally speaking up, “Yunshu, when do you think the show will air?”
It was her first time recording a variety show, and she wanted to save a copy as a keepsake.
Mu Yunshu thought for a moment and replied, “If everything goes smoothly, it should air in about four to five months.”
“Ah?” Mi Man couldn’t hide her disappointment. “That long…?”
She had assumed that once they flew back, the show would be ready to watch in a few days.
Wishful thinking.
“A four-month production period is already quite fast,” Mu Yunshu said as they boarded the plane, glancing back at Mi Man. “Believe me, it won’t be long before you’re in the spotlight.”
And without Mu Yunshu even needing to promote her, the buzz and attention would naturally shift to Mi Man. By then, it would be impossible for her not to become famous.
Mi Man nodded. The recording was already done, and there was no point in rushing things. All she could do was wait patiently at home.
The flight had taken six hours on the way here, and the return trip wasn’t any shorter. By the time they disembarked, it was already past four in the afternoon.
The airport was still quite a distance from the city center, so Mu Yunshu called her assistant to arrange a pickup.
But before the call could even connect, two figures slowly approached them.
Or rather… rolled toward them.
Mi Man looked up to see Fu Yilan being pushed in a wheelchair by her assistant. A magazine—the company’s latest internal publication—lay open on her lap.
Without lifting her head, Fu Yilan closed the magazine and remarked coolly, “The flight wasn’t delayed. How rare.”
Standing beside Mi Man, Mu Yunshu chuckled lightly. “Well, my flights aren’t always delayed.”
Wait… these two knew each other?
Mi Man stared at them curiously. Sensing her gaze, Fu Yilan turned her attention to Mi Man and said, “Get ready. You’ve got a lot of schedules coming up.”
After all, with fame came more opportunities to earn.
Mi Man nodded. It was only right to be polite to one’s boss, especially when that boss, despite being disabled, had gone out of her way to pick them up at the airport.
Just then, the assistant leaned down and whispered to Fu Yilan, “Ms. Fu, the car is here.”
Across the street, a black SUV was parked, apparently waiting to pick them up.
Fu Yilan nodded and said to the two people before her, “I’ll take you back. Get in the car.”
Mi Man quickly replied, “President Fu, there’s no need to trouble yourself. You’re not in the best condition either.”
Fu Yilan gave her an inscrutable smile, then lifted the blanket covering her knees, shifted her feet slightly, and stood up from the wheelchair.
Mi Man’s eyes widened in shock, her expression one of utter disbelief. She was speechless.
Wait—wasn’t she disabled?!
How could a disabled person just stand up like that?!
Was her own charm really that powerful?!
Fu Yilan looked at Mi Man calmly and said with a smile, “Did I ever say I was disabled?”
