Being the Diva’s Rumored Girlfriend [Entertainment Industry] - Chapter 21
The two-story duplex wasn’t as grand as the studio, but its open layout gave off a warm and bright atmosphere.
Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows lay a dark pond, where the moonlight spilled over, bleaching a large expanse of the water’s surface white.
Guazi kept brushing his tail against Mi Man’s calf, tickling her relentlessly.
Mu Yunshu set her things down, kicked off her high heels, and bent over to pick up this shameless cat.
“Meow—”
Guazi glanced back at his owner unhappily, as if realizing Mi Man wasn’t someone he could casually pester, and allowed himself to be tossed onto the sofa.
“You can stay here tonight,” Mu Yunshu said, turning to Mi Man. “The guest room has fresh bedding and pajamas—it’s convenient for an overnight stay.”
Mi Man hadn’t expected Mu Yunshu’s home to be right behind the studio. “Do you live here too?” she asked.
The moment the words left her mouth, Mi Man wanted to bite her tongue. Of course, this was Mu Yunshu’s home—where else would she live?
“I stay here whenever I’m not traveling for work,” Mu Yunshu replied. “Don’t be nervous—just make yourself at home.”
Mi Man scratched her head and smiled sheepishly.
The guest room Mu Yunshu arranged for her was on the first floor. Though small, it was exceptionally clean, likely due to regular cleaning.
There were new toiletries, and the pajamas carried a faint scent of laundry detergent.
After changing, Mi Man noticed it was barely past 11 p.m.
Though late, she wasn’t the least bit sleepy. Beyond the door, she could still hear the soft shuffle of Mu Yunshu’s slippers in the living room.
Whoosh—
A message from Mu Xiaoxiao popped up: Manman, are you still filming the ad?
Only then did Mi Man remember she hadn’t told her friends she wasn’t returning. She quickly replied: Staying out tonight—filming continues early tomorrow.
Mu Xiaoxiao: So busy! Make sure to rest well, don’t overwork yourself.
Mi Man: Got it. You should sleep early too.
After exchanging goodnights, Mi Man set her phone down.
Xiaoxiao was right—tomorrow’s shoot involved a dance scene in a ballroom. Mi Man had trained in dance before, but waltzing required chemistry between partners. She glanced at the door, wondering if she and Mu Yunshu had any natural rhythm together…
Hearing Guazi’s “meow-munching” from the living room, she knew Mu Yunshu was still awake.
Maybe she should go out and practice with her?
With that thought, Mi Man slowly cracked the door open and peeked out.
Mu Yunshu had shed her polished attire. Her long, dark hair, left untied, cascaded smoothly down her back, lending her an unexpectedly gentle air.
Now dressed in a white nightgown, she knelt on the floor, feeding Guazi one kibble at a time.
The cat, clearly relishing the royal treatment, sat primly, accepting each offering without hesitation before gulping it down.
Watching her gluttonous pet, Mu Yunshu sighed in amusement. “Am I raising a cat or a pig here?”
The implied chubby feline remained unfazed, crunching loudly on his kibble with satisfied little grunts.
Just as Mu Yunshu was bending down to feed the cat, a sudden ‘click’ sound reached her ears—the sound of a door being unlocked.
She instinctively looked up and found herself face to face with the sneaky Mi Man.
Mi Man hadn’t expected the door to make such a loud noise. Caught red-handed by her host, she simply pushed the door open with newfound confidence.
“What’s wrong?” Mu Yunshu glanced at Mi Man and asked with a soft laugh, “Still awake at this hour?”
“You’re not asleep either.”
“Well, I’ll sleep after feeding the cat.”
Mi Man blinked and wiggled her toes before saying, “Um… we have the dance floor scene tomorrow. Can I practice with you?”
Practice?
Recalling the director’s arrangement for them to dance in formal wear the next day, Mu Yunshu guessed Mi Man might be feeling nervous and nodded in agreement.
“Sure,” Mu Yunshu surveyed her spacious living room and said, “This area should be big enough. We can practice here.”
Delighted that Mu Yunshu agreed—she’d half expected to be turned down at this late hour—Mi Man asked, “Should we practice in our pajamas?”
“It doesn’t matter.”
Mi Man looked down at her nightgown. The two women’s sleepwear was strikingly similar, likely bought from the same store, giving them an accidental couple’s outfit vibe at first glance.
After feeding the last piece of cat food to Guazi, Mu Yunshu stood up and approached Mi Man. She reached out, wrapping one arm around Mi Man’s waist while firmly grasping her hand with the other.
Mi Man stiffened instantly, tension coursing through her body.
“Relax,” Mu Yunshu chuckled, looking down at her. “How can we practice if you’re this tense?”
At first, Mu Yunshu’s touch made Mi Man’s skin tingle strangely. But as she adjusted, she realized Mu Yunshu was genuinely focused on the dance steps.
The empty living room held no music, yet the two moved in perfect sync as they twirled across the floor.
Mu Yunshu’s jet-black hair shimmered like spilled ink, its radiance making Mi Man’s eyes sting slightly…
“What are you thinking about?”
Holding Mi Man close, Mu Yunshu gradually slowed their pace.
Mi Man looked up. For some reason, Cheng Jing’s image flashed through her mind—how elegant and beautiful she would look if they were dancing together like this.
“Nothing,” Mi Man murmured, burying her face in Mu Yunshu’s shoulder. “Just feeling a bit tired suddenly.”
After watching Cheng Jing for so long, she truly was exhausted.
Mu Yunshu gently stopped moving and drew Mi Man into a full embrace, leaving them standing motionless at the center of the living room.
Perhaps it was Mu Yunshu’s comforting warmth, or perhaps her own drowsiness, but Mi Man found herself unwilling to move, content to remain in the other woman’s arms.
The moonlight flowed like gentle water.
The deep night stood silent and still.
Mi Man wished time could freeze at this moment—here, she wouldn’t have to see Cheng Jing; here, in Mu Yunshu’s embrace, she could finally feel at peace.
“Mi Man.”
Inhaling the familiar scent of shared shampoo from Mi Man’s hair, Mu Yunshu spoke softly: “Let’s date, okay?”
Mi Man lifted her head, wondering if she’d misheard.
Mu Yunshu’s amber eyes shone with depth and clarity as she gazed intently at the woman before her. “No publicity stunts, no ulterior motives. I can tell you have feelings for me too, so… why not be together?”
It was clearly a confession, yet Mu Yunshu’s open and earnest demeanor left Mi Man momentarily stunned.
What did she mean by this???
Was she asking to be in a relationship???
Mu Yunshu was so much more accomplished than her—Mi Man lagged far behind in both fame and resources. So why…
Seeing Mi Man frozen in shock, Mu Yunshu frowned slightly, displeased.
This silly girl.
“Is that okay?”
Mu Yunshu pressed her forehead against Mi Man’s, closing the distance between them. “I like you. I think we’d be good together. Will you go out with me?”
“I…”
This was the first time Mi Man had ever been confessed to, and she was instantly overwhelmed, her face burning red as she instinctively tried to pull away.
But she was already in Mu Yunshu’s arms—there was no escaping now.
Pouting like a petulant child, Mu Yunshu tightened her grip, refusing to let go unless Mi Man agreed. Shameless!
This woman was really…!!!
“Why me?” Mi Man asked, cheeks flushed. “We’re not a good match. I’m nowhere near as famous as you. You have so many options—why me?”
Truthfully, this was something Mi Man had wanted to ask for a long time. Ever since Mu Yunshu had agreed to that ridiculous misunderstanding, she’d been puzzled.
Mu Yunshu had lost so many fans, yet she never complained. In fact, she seemed to genuinely enjoy filming shows with Mi Man. It was baffling.
She’s so beautiful—she must have countless admirers…
The thought left a sour taste in Mi Man’s mouth.
Mu Yunshu couldn’t guess what was going through this girl’s mind, but she knew Mi Man wasn’t taking her words seriously.
Maybe a rougher approach was needed with this little fool.
“You…”
Mu Yunshu leaned down before Mi Man could react, capturing her lips in a kiss.
This time, it wasn’t a fake-out or a peck on the cheek—she outright bit Mi Man’s lips—
“Mmm…!!!”
Heat flooded Mi Man’s mouth as soft, wet lips teased hers, tender as if handling something precious.
The suddenness of it startled her, but what came next shocked her even more.
A firm pressure on her shoulders pinned her against the cabinet, its contents rattling from the impact!
Mi Man wanted to struggle, but Mu Yunshu’s sweetness was intoxicating. Having never kissed before, she had no idea how to resist.
Pull yourself together!!!
Don’t get lost in a single kiss!!!
She tried to push Mu Yunshu away, but her hands only fisted the woman’s sleepwear, her body melting into weakness.
What’s happening? Did she slip something into her mouth?
Mi Man’s damp eyes fluttered open, meeting Mu Yunshu’s gaze up close, shame burning through her.
The kiss was brief but intense, leaving Mi Man utterly drained.
Mu Yunshu looked down at her tearful expression and murmured, “Well? Will you?”
Seeing that Mu Yunshu wouldn’t stop until she agreed—or until she cried—Mi Man turned into a helpless mess.
Before the next kiss could land, she hastily surrendered. “Okay! I’ll go out with you!”
Please, no more kisses!!
Have mercy on her!
Mu Yunshu’s lips curled into a slow smile as she wrapped her arms around Mi Man’s soft, slender waist and bit down once more.
On the first day of their relationship, she wanted to leave a bold impression on her little wife~
