Being the Diva’s Rumored Girlfriend [Entertainment Industry] - Chapter 28
Mu Yunshu Cheers Up Her Girlfriend
The top trending topic on the list was this glaring headline.
The push notification contained little text, just a roughly 10-second video clip of Mu Yunshu in disguise at Mi Man’s fan meet-and-greet.
Due to the surrounding noise, Mu Yunshu’s line—“From now on, all your time belongs to me.”—was highlighted with pink subtitles.
If one listened carefully, it was still audible, but the crowd’s gasps were so loud that the subtitles made it clearer.
The comments under the trending topic were flooded with envy—
Is this how a pop diva cheers up her girlfriend? Damn, I want to be pampered by the goddess too!
Some people spend money to cheer up their girlfriends, but you guys… do you even have girlfriends???
HAHAHA I’M OBSESSED WITH THIS COUPLE, THEY’RE SO SWEET!
CP fans incoming, make way, make way!
I was there—I was the one screaming the loudest next to them!
Mumu’s smile is so sweet! This couple’s sweetness is off the charts—I’m drowning in it!
More! I need more! I’m not done indulging!!!!!
Mi Man’s phone kept buzzing on the bed, flooded with messages from fans, but she had no interest in checking them.
Today’s sunlight seemed unusually bright.
Lying in bed, Mi Man squinted at the nearly noon sun outside, feeling groggy.
Last night, after sneaking out of the concert hall with Mu Yunshu, they had wandered by the lake. With no one around in the dead of night, they spent hours in the pitch-dark breeze.
At one point, Mi Man got hungry, so Mu Yunshu—masked up—went to grab late-night snacks. They chatted in the car until past 2 a.m. before Mu Yunshu reluctantly drove her home.
Normally, after waking up, Mi Man would bury herself under the covers and spend hours grumbling about Mu Yunshu. But today, she wasn’t in the mood at all.
When she returned last night, she found Cheng Jing sitting alone in the dark, looking especially lonely.
Cheng Jing had said she wanted Mi Man to stay by her side…
Forever…
That word—Mi Man had longed to hear it for so long. Sometimes, she even dreamed about how she should react if Cheng Jing ever agreed to be with her.
But lately, Mi Man hadn’t thought about it at all.
She and Mu Yunshu were fueling dating rumors. They filmed variety shows together.
She had agreed to date Mu Yunshu. In everyone’s eyes, they were a perfect match.
Yet only Mi Man knew—Cheng Jing’s words last night had completely thrown her heart into chaos.
Why?
Why now, of all times…
Mi Man sat up in bed, glanced at the empty bed across from hers, and lowered her head in frustration.
At noon, in the first-floor living room…
A few early risers had already prepared lunch and greeted Mi Man warmly as she came downstairs: “Manman, you’re up! Come eat!”
Everyone was already seated. Mu Xiaoxiao, mid-bite, asked, “What time did you get back last night? We thought you were staying at Mu Yunshu’s place.”
Mi Man smiled and took her seat. “I came back after you all fell asleep.”
“Didn’t you want to spend more time with Mu Yunshu?”
“Nah. She’s busy preparing for her concert—I didn’t want to disrupt her rest.”
“Manman is so thoughtful. If I were Mu Yunshu, I’d be laughing in my dreams.”
Mi Man paused, then smiled. “It’s nothing, really.”
They were right!
She already had Mu Yunshu—she shouldn’t let her thoughts wander!
Mi Man patted her cheeks and looked up. “Where’s my food?”
“Right here.”
A bowl of porridge appeared over Mi Man’s shoulder. Following the slender arm, she saw Cheng Jing smiling softly at her. “I know your appetite isn’t great right after waking up, so I made you plain congee.”
Mi Man froze for a moment before hurriedly accepting it. “Thank you.”
The five of them gathered around the table for a lively meal. Amid the cheerful atmosphere, only Mi Man stubbornly refused to lift her head. Everyone else assumed she was just tired, but Cheng Jing watched the top of Mi Man’s head with a faint smile.
————
“Manman, Manman, Manman!”
After finishing their meal, Mu Xiaoxiao dragged Mi Man into her room, locked the door, tossed her onto the bed, and pinned her down.
Mi Man: “!!!!”
“Talk!” Mu Xiaoxiao pressed down on Mi Man’s shoulders, glaring fiercely. “I saw you kissing Mu Yunshu yesterday! Didn’t you say your relationship was just for publicity? When did it turn real?”
Mu Xiaoxiao’s voice was loud and booming, startling Mi Man into covering her mouth in panic.
“Don’t say that!” Mi Man flushed red with nervousness. “Keep your voice down!”
Mu Xiaoxiao pried Mi Man’s hand away and pouted, lowering her voice. “Hmph, you weren’t honest with me, were you? Are you sure you tagged the wrong person back then?”
Wasn’t she just playing with her???
Mi Man pushed her away and sat up on the bed. “I really did tag the wrong person back then.”
“But yesterday—”
There hadn’t been a single person by the side entrance yesterday. Even if it was for show, kissing was going too far, wasn’t it?
And the atmosphere between them hadn’t seemed fake at all.
“About yesterday…” Mi Man scratched her head, a little embarrassed. “Remember that chocolate commercial I filmed? After that, Mu Yunshu asked me… if we could date…”
Her voice grew quieter toward the end, too shy to meet her friend’s eyes.
Xiaoxiao looked stunned. “You’ve been dating for two months?”
Mi Man nodded, blinking at her timidly. “Is kissing after two months too fast?”
Actually, she wanted to ask if kissing on the same day was too fast, but she worried that might scare Xiaoxiao, so she changed it to two months.
Mu Xiaoxiao sat beside her, thinking it over. “Two months is fine. I don’t think it’s too fast.”
Mi Man sighed in relief. “That’s good.”
She always felt Mu Yunshu moved too quickly—so fast it scared her. More than once, those kisses had left her legs weak.
Mu Xiaoxiao blinked mischievously, studying her friend. “Manman, I want—”
Before she could finish, Mi Man’s phone rang from her pocket.
Speak of the devil.
Mi Man answered the call and heard Mu Yunshu’s voice on the other end. “Are you awake?”
“Yeah, just finished lunch.”
“I see. I was going to order food for you all if you hadn’t eaten yet.”
“It’s fine. We can cook for ourselves.”
“Mm.”
Mu Yunshu rolled over in bed, kicking her feet lightly. “Are you coming to the studio tonight? There are still some issues with the duet we recorded the other day.”
As for what questions… first trick her into coming over!
Mi Man took it seriously and nodded earnestly, saying, “Then I’ll come over tonight.”
Mu Xiaoxiao pricked up her ears upon hearing that Mi Man was going to the recording studio to meet Mu Yunshu. She immediately grabbed Mi Man’s hand and mouthed frantically: I want to go too, I want to go too, I want to go too!!!!
Mu Yunshu could hear some commotion on the other end of the call, along with Mi Man’s soft murmuring, and chuckled, “What’s going on?”
Mi Man pushed Mu Xiaoxiao’s face away with one hand while answering the phone, “It’s nothing, just… just…”
Mu Xiaoxiao shouted, “Teacher Mumu, I’m your fan! I want to go to your concert too!!!!”
Mu Yunshu: “…”
She seemed to recognize that voice—it was the girl who had pushed Mi Man into her arms the last time they met.
Mi Man, flustered, whispered to Mu Xiaoxiao, “Don’t be so loud, you’ll attract everyone’s attention.”
“No way, no way! I want to hang out with Teacher Mumu too!”
“But we’re going there for work…”
“Call it a date if you want! I just want a quick look, and I also want to see the concert venue.”
“But today is for recording.”
“Hmph… I don’t care!”
The sound of the two girls bickering and whining on the other end of the call was oddly amusing. Mu Yunshu couldn’t sleep anymore and sat up, running a hand through her long black hair before saying to Mi Man, “Let her come. I’ll take you both to the venue this afternoon.”
Mi Man sounded surprised. “Is that really okay?”
Mu Yunshu stepped barefoot onto the floor and accidentally nudged Guazi, who was lying there, earning a glare of disdain from the cat.
“It’s fine,” Mu Yunshu crouched down to soothe Guazi and said, “The performance is in a few days anyway. It’s good for you to get familiar with the place. Get changed, and I’ll have my assistant pick you up and take you to the stadium.”
Once the arrangements were settled, the two hung up.
Mu Xiaoxiao grinned happily. “Teacher Mumu really spoils you! What kind of luck did you stumble into?”
Mi Man froze, feeling as if something had struck her heart.
That’s right—Mu Yunshu treated her so well. She really shouldn’t be thinking about anyone else.
But…
How could she just forget someone she had loved for over a decade?
——————
A little past two in the afternoon, a black sedan pulled up in front of the apartment building. It was Mu Yunshu’s assistant, who had come to pick up Mi Man and Mu Xiaoxiao to take them to the stadium.
Both girls were idols from a small group. Forget holding concerts—even at larger events, they were lucky to get two minutes on stage for a dance segment.
On top of that, hosting a concert required a substantial discography. Even with their latest album, Star Girls only had two singles to their name—nowhere near enough to fill such a grand venue.
The car sped along the city’s main roads and soon arrived at the stadium.
The large stadium on the east side of the city had been built just two years prior, with a capacity of nearly 30,000 people, suitable for any major event.
Without any obstacles, the car smoothly drove inside.
“Wow, look at that—is that the stage?”
Mu Xiaoxiao tugged at Mi Man’s hand, pointing at the structure being assembled outside. “So many metal frames!”
Mi Man followed her gaze. There really were a lot.
This time, the stage seemed to incorporate many additional elements. Aside from the lift platforms, there were numerous other props, making the central area of the stadium appear packed with equipment.
The car came to a stop, and the assistant turned to the two of them, saying, “Teacher Mu asked you to wait here for her. She should arrive soon.”
“Got it~”
As Mi Man stepped out of the car, she spotted a figure standing in the shade not too far away, trying to avoid the sun. No matter how she looked at it, the person seemed familiar.
Mu Xiaoxiao noticed as well. Squinting, she exclaimed in surprise, “Wait, isn’t that Teacher You An?!”
You An?!
Mi Man instantly recalled the woman from a few months ago during the variety show filming—the one who had leaned against the railing and asked her who she was thinking about.
At that moment, You An was crouched in a corner, shielding herself from the sun, her eyes red from crying as she shouted at the empty space in front of her, “Mu Yunshu, you absolute jerk! You called me here as a guest performer for your concert, so why didn’t you arrange a hotel room for me?!!”

A pretty nice read, the relationship between Mu Yunshu and Mi Man is pretty sweet, and past the initial hurdle, the story become more slice of life-ish, with most of the issue being media related as opposed to relationship issue. I do think that some issues got solved a bit too quickly or didn’t get proper enough resolution, which left me a bit wanting, but overall it was all pretty good
Another mystery that I feel like didn’t get enough attention was the fact that Mi Man has met Mu Yunshu when she was younger, but eventually forgot. The story bring up the subject multiples times, but Mi Man never actually remember it, although what exactly happened back then is shown in the story extra.
Hello! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Glad you enjoyed Mu Yunshu and Mi Man’s story. Some parts were rushed, but overall it was a sweet read. Thanks again for reading. 🙂
