Being the Diva’s Rumored Girlfriend [Entertainment Industry] - Chapter 29
“Sorry, I really didn’t mean to forget about you.”
“Wuwuwu Qinglan, I want to go home to my wife wuwuwu…”
Mi Man and Mu Xiaoxiao sat nearby, watching Mu Yunshu struggle to comfort You An. Both of them could tell You An wasn’t actually crying—she was probably just causing trouble for Mu Yunshu after being neglected all day, hence the fake tears.
Her acting was simply terrible though, with completely unconvincing sobs.
Mu Yunshu obviously saw through it too, but since it was her own poor planning that caused this, she could only squat before You An and patiently apologize, promising all sorts of things before finally getting the dramatic performance to stop.
Truly, You An’s nickname as the “Goddess of B-Movies and Viral Songs” wasn’t unearned—she could turn the waterworks on and off at will.
Mu Xiaoxiao tilted her head as she observed the two superstar-level celebrities before them, whispering curiously to Mi Man, “Are all big shots this mischievous nowadays?”
One dared to act, the other dared to play along.
Mi Man could only sigh helplessly. “I guess they’re just really close.”
Otherwise, Mu Yunshu wouldn’t have invited You An to her concert.
After finally placating this little drama queen, Mu Yunshu finally turned her attention to her girlfriend.
The weather was rather chilly today, and Mu Yunshu looked particularly dashing in her all-black outfit—black shirt, pants, and trench coat—paired with a high ponytail that accentuated her heroic bearing.
Mi Man glanced at her hair and noticed Mu Yunshu was still wearing that orange hairband she’d given her the other day. Who knew she’d still have it on…
It was just some cheap street vendor item—why was she treating it like treasure?
“Did you wait long?” Mu Yunshu approached them with an apologetic smile. “My assistant didn’t book a hotel for You An, so she threw a tantrum just now.”
“Yeah,” Mi Man nodded. “We heard. Is she over it now?”
Mu Yunshu shrugged. “She was just being difficult. We’re old friends—I know how to handle her.”
Despite her antics, You An was actually very professional when it mattered, which was why the studio had deliberated extensively before inviting her as a guest performer.
Mu Yunshu pulled Mi Man up from the bench with a grin. “Didn’t you want to see the stage? Let’s go.”
And so, Mu Yunshu played tour guide, leading the three around the venue. You An dropped her theatrics and earnestly discussed stage effects with Mu Yunshu, even recommending her usual lighting crew.
Mi Man and the others were just there for the ride, so they wrapped up the tour soon after.
During a break, Mu Yunshu secretly pulled Mi Man into a secluded corner.
“What’s up?”
Mi Man looked at her quizzically.
Mu Yunshu didn’t answer, just stared at her with sparkling eyes. No words were needed—her mind was undoubtedly filled with indecent thoughts.
The nickname really suited her.
Away from the other two, Mu Yunshu nibbled Mi Man’s lips in the corner of the partition, grumbling, “I should’ve taken you home with me yesterday.”
“Mmm…” Mi Man wanted to respond, but with her friends just outside, she could only whisper, “What’s always on your mind?”
Mu Yunshu chuckled softly. “You.”
Blushing furiously, Mi Man gazed up at Mu Yunshu’s exquisite features before suddenly rising on her tiptoes to plant a quick peck on her cheek.
The person who was kissed froze for a moment—after all, Mi Man had never taken the initiative to kiss her before. What was different this time?
Truth be told, Mi Man herself didn’t know why she’d kissed Mu Yunshu at that moment. She’d been restless all day, feeling that if she got closer to the person before her, she might be able to push that other figure from her mind.
Though it wasn’t fair to Mu Yunshu, Mi Man couldn’t help but deceive herself.
Forget that person. Pretend last night never happened.
It was all a dream. The one before you is the direction you should hold onto.
Mu Yunshu gently rubbed Mi Man’s soft pink lips, her gaze darkening slightly. “You seem unhappy today,” she said.
Mi Man shook her head. “Not at all.”
The two were so close that Mi Man could still feel the warmth radiating from Mu Yunshu. In the increasingly cold weather, Mu Yunshu’s warmth made Mi Man inexplicably thirsty.
The black base layer hugged Mu Yunshu’s waist, accentuating its slender curve. Mi Man stole a glance before quickly looking away.
How does she have such a perfect figure?
With curves in all the right places, compared to Mi Man’s own flat frame, it was almost embarrassing to look at.
“Um…” Mi Man blushed and whispered, “Why did you suddenly invite You An over? Isn’t she abroad?”
Mu Yunshu hugged Mi Man lazily. “Because she sings well, so I called her over.”
Mi Man buried her face in Mu Yunshu’s shoulder and murmured softly, “Did you… invite You An because you were worried I’d be nervous on stage?”
“Hmm…”
Caught out, Teacher Mu Yunshu chuckled evasively. “Since you’ve figured it out, don’t refuse. You An is an amazing singer, and this is your first time performing at a concert. I didn’t want you to make any mistakes.”
After all, Mi Man was still new to the entertainment industry, incomparable to seasoned veterans like Mu Yunshu and You An. No matter what happened during the concert, those two could handle it effortlessly—Mi Man was different.
Sweet little Mi Man’s first time on stage—Teacher Mu was deeply concerned.
Blushing, Mi Man wrapped her arms around Mu Yunshu’s waist.
Goodness, it looked slender and felt just as slender in her arms!
“Don’t be so good to me,” Mi Man said quietly. “I might not be able to repay you.”
“No need to repay me,” Mu Yunshu replied with a smile. “Having you by my side is more than enough.”
Mi Man paused.
How could she not repay such a huge debt?
Not just this concert, but also the previous advertisements, variety shows, and the way the studio had stepped in to clarify things whenever she trended on social media—all of it required money and effort.
As a small-time idol from a niche girl group, how could she possibly deserve such devotion from Mu Yunshu?
Surrounded by Mu Yunshu’s faint grassy scent, Mi Man thought—this feeling of being enveloped in softness must be what it’s like to be loved.
——————
That evening, after everyone had eaten, Mu Yunshu sent You An to her hotel.
Meanwhile, Mi Man and Xiaoxiao were driven back to their dorm by an assistant.
The two chatted and laughed as they entered—after all, as minor group members, they rarely got to see such grand scenes.
“You asked Yunshu for way too many autographs today,” Mi Man said as soon as they stepped inside, tossing her bag onto the sofa while kicking off her shoes. “More than ten! What do you need so many for?”
Mu Xiaoxiao pouted, “What’s the matter? Feeling sorry for your Mumu? Do you know how expensive Mu Yunshu’s autograph is now? Over a thousand yuan!”
Mi Man asked in confusion, “Then why did you want You An’s too?”
“Hers is expensive as well. Since we met them together, of course I’d ask for both.”
“Ugh, I’m judging you.”
As the two were talking and walking toward the living room, they noticed three other people sitting at the dining table with several dishes laid out.
A red-haired girl resting her head on the table looked up at them and said, “You’re finally back! I’m starving!”
Mu Xiaoxiao glanced at the food in surprise. “Were you waiting for us to eat?”
“Yeah.”
“But we already ate outside.”
“Huh? You already ate??”
“Yeah.”
Mi Man also gave the group a puzzled look. They were all close friends, usually eating together when possible or preparing their own meals otherwise. This had been their routine for a long time. Why would they suddenly wait for the two of them today?
While Mi Man was still confused, the other members winked at them, gesturing toward Cheng Jing sitting beside them.
Cheng Jing looked displeased. She glanced at Mi Man and asked, “Why didn’t you tell us you were eating out today?”
Mi Man was baffled. “I didn’t know you were waiting for us…”
Cheng Jing frowned. “Eating out isn’t clean. Don’t do it again. We can cook in the dorm.”
Mi Man scratched her head. “It was fine today. We didn’t eat street food.”
“That’s not the point. Don’t eat out from now on.”
“But—”
Before Mi Man could respond, Mu Xiaoxiao, standing beside her, said indignantly, “Captain, we’ve always eaten separately before. Why are you suddenly waiting for us today?”
The other two at the table nodded in agreement—they were starving.
Cheng Jing frowned and glared at Mu Xiaoxiao. “Female celebrities need to watch their figures. If you’re greedy, don’t drag Mi Man into it.”
Mu Xiaoxiao retorted unhappily, “We just ate out once. Why are you scolding us? Besides, we ate with Mu Yunshu. What’s the big deal?”
At the mention of ‘Mu Yunshu,’ Cheng Jing visibly darkened, her voice rising sharply.
“This has nothing to do with Mu Yunshu. You shouldn’t be eating junk.”
“???”
Mu Xiaoxiao was filled with confusion. She stared at Cheng Jing and exclaimed, “Everyone knew we were meeting Mu Yunshu this afternoon. Why did you wait for us? You never did this before when we went out. Are you jealous because Mi Man found an amazing girlfriend?”
Cheng Jing instantly flared up, glaring at Mu Xiaoxiao. “What nonsense are you spouting?”
Mu Xiaoxiao was equally angry. “Is it nonsense? We get scolded the moment we step in. Why? You never said you’d wait for us!”
As the argument threatened to escalate, Mi Man quickly pulled Mu Xiaoxiao back while the other two pushed Cheng Jing back into her seat.
Mi Man looked at Cheng Jing and said, “Sorry, we’ll let you know in advance next time.”
Cheng Jing glanced at her, pressed her lips together without a word, and sat back down. She then said to the other two, “Let’s eat.”
The group exchanged glances, with two others sitting down to accompany Cheng Jing for the meal, even serving her dishes to help calm her down. Meanwhile, Mi Man quickly pulled Xiaoxiao back into the room.
Still fuming, Mu Xiaoxiao continued muttering complaints about Cheng Jing under her breath once inside. Mi Man hurriedly offered a few words of comfort.
Truth be told, it wasn’t just Mu Xiaoxiao—Mi Man also found Cheng Jing’s behavior today baffling. Why was she so angry just because they went out for a meal?
Mi Man couldn’t make sense of it and didn’t bother dwelling on it.
Maybe the dry weather was putting her in a bad mood.
In the following days, Mi Man had to focus on preparing for the upcoming concert, now less than a week away. She was swamped with work.
You An’s involvement had indeed added a lot to the concert. Though her acting was subpar, her singing was truly exceptional. Standing beside these two vocal powerhouses, Mi Man felt like a tone-deaf duck in comparison—utterly mortifying.
Fortunately, neither of them put too much pressure on her. According to the arrangements, she would perform three songs with Mu Yunshu, while You An would sing one solo and two duets with Mu Yunshu.
“For the first two songs, you’ll need to follow the choreography as planned. Since you debuted in a girl group, dancing shouldn’t be a problem for you.”
“For the final song, the stage lights will dim, and the lift will raise you into the air,” the stage coordinator explained to Mi Man. “Then a spotlight will shine on you. Stay still and keep singing until the lift lowers you back down.”
Mi Man nodded blankly.
“Overall, it’s not too difficult. You and Mu Yunshu have been practicing well these past few days, so the stage performance should turn out fine.”
Hearing the staff’s praise, Mi Man secretly let out a sigh of relief.
Singing wasn’t her strong suit, but at least her dancing didn’t drag the team down.
She was really grateful she had debuted in a girl group!
Noticing Mi Man’s nervous expression, Mu Yunshu chuckled and poked her cheek playfully. “Feeling nervous?”
Mi Man blushed and nodded. “A little.”
Performing in front of tens of thousands of people for the first time—it was impossible not to feel jittery.
But with Mu Yunshu by her side, Mi Man did feel much more at ease.
“Nerves are inevitable,” You An chimed in. “Just keep a steady mindset. Your stage presence is great—trust yourself.”
Mi Man nodded again. “Thank you! I’ll do my best!”

A pretty nice read, the relationship between Mu Yunshu and Mi Man is pretty sweet, and past the initial hurdle, the story become more slice of life-ish, with most of the issue being media related as opposed to relationship issue. I do think that some issues got solved a bit too quickly or didn’t get proper enough resolution, which left me a bit wanting, but overall it was all pretty good
Another mystery that I feel like didn’t get enough attention was the fact that Mi Man has met Mu Yunshu when she was younger, but eventually forgot. The story bring up the subject multiples times, but Mi Man never actually remember it, although what exactly happened back then is shown in the story extra.
Hello! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Glad you enjoyed Mu Yunshu and Mi Man’s story. Some parts were rushed, but overall it was a sweet read. Thanks again for reading. 🙂
