Being the Diva’s Rumored Girlfriend [Entertainment Industry] - Chapter 30
The concert was just around the corner, and everyone online knew You An would be participating this time. Scalper ticket prices were skyrocketing, with even fans in Mi Man’s group chat asking if there were other ways to get tickets.
Later, several thousand more tickets were added to the concert, but they sold out instantly.
Mi Man had never personally experienced anything like this before. She’d never been interested in chasing celebrities as a kid, and now that she was the performer, she still didn’t quite get the hype. The other members of the group, however, were fiercely competing for tickets.
“Don’t sleep at midnight tonight—there are still 800 tickets left!”
“Oooohhhh~ ┗|`O′|┛”
Watching Mu Xiaoxiao and the others excitedly scrambling for tickets, Mi Man didn’t disturb them. Instead, she grabbed her change of clothes and headed to the bathroom.
She had been exhausted these past few days—leaving early in the morning, spending the whole day at the sports center, and only returning to the dorm after 9 p.m. She barely had time to take care of herself, to the point where even showering felt like a luxury.
Warm water cascaded over her head, soaking her collarbones and chest before sliding down the curves of her body and pooling on the floor, eventually draining away.
The heat soothed her skin. Winter was almost here…
Thinking about how that rogue Mu Yunshu had pinned her in the car again today, Mi Man felt the air grow uncomfortably warm.
The water felt like that woman’s gentle hands, tracing over her collarbones, shoulders, waist, and legs.
“Hah…”
Mi Man leaned her forehead against the tiles. The steam blurred everything around her, making the world outside the shower hazy and indistinct.
Closing her eyes, she muttered in frustration, “Such a bad woman…”
Just as the steam thickened, Mi Man heard familiar footsteps.
When you spent enough time with someone, even the slightest breath or footstep could tell you exactly who it was.
Cheng Jing pushed open the bathroom door and saw Mi Man showering. Through the mist, she couldn’t make out her figure clearly, only that she had turned to look at her.
“Showering?” Cheng Jing tilted her head slightly.
“Yeah,” Mi Man replied. “Did you need to use it?”
“No, you go ahead.”
“Okay.”
Even after that exchange, Mi Man could tell the person outside hadn’t moved.
Cheng Jing… seemed to have something to say.
“You’ve been really busy lately,” Cheng Jing’s calm voice drifted in from outside. “Feels like you haven’t been around the dorm much.”
Mi Man chuckled. “Well, the concert’s next week. It’s crunch time—being busy is normal.”
“Then… after you’re done, let’s go out shopping together.” Cheng Jing suggested. “Haven’t gone for a walk or shopping with you in ages. There are some new releases I wanted to check out.”
“Sure, but it’ll have to wait until after this busy period.”
“Mm. I’ll wait.”
At this point, most people would have left—lingering to chat while someone was showering wasn’t exactly polite. But Cheng Jing seemed intent on continuing.
Which put Mi Man in an awkward spot.
She wasn’t oblivious. She’d noticed Cheng Jing acting differently these past few days—strangely, almost… overly attentive.
So attentive that it made Mi Man uncomfortable.
Mi Man loved sleeping in, often still in bed when her assistant arrived downstairs. So Cheng Jing had taken to waking her up early, acting as her personal alarm clock.
For instance, when Mi Man returned late and couldn’t find food when hungry at midnight, Cheng Jing would order takeout for her.
And there were other things too…
In many ways Mi Man couldn’t quite put into words, Cheng Jing had become even more considerate than before.
On the surface, Cheng Jing still seemed the same, but Mi Man could sense a difference in how she was being treated.
Why was that?
Why hadn’t she shown this attitude earlier?
Mi Man was confused.
Perhaps Cheng Jing had grown tired of the dry conversation, so she said to Mi Man, “Take your time washing up. I’ll head out first.”
“Mm.”
Only after hearing the door close did Mi Man let out a long sigh.
Though the dorm was nice, it always left her feeling stifled.
If only Mu Yunshu was here too.
Then she wouldn’t feel so out of place…

The concert arrived as scheduled.
That evening, the area outside the East District Sports Center was packed with a surging crowd, so dense it was hard to move. Police and auxiliary officers maintained order on all major roads leading to the venue, while riot control vehicles and ambulances stood by outside.
The concert was set to start at 7 PM, but lines had already begun forming at 4 PM. By 6 PM, the crowd had swelled into a dark, overwhelming mass.
Of course, Mu Xiaoxiao and the others hadn’t managed to get tickets—but even if they had, they wouldn’t have come. After all, as a girl group themselves, attending another group’s concert would have been a bit odd.
Mi Man waited backstage in the dressing room. Her first dance number was a high-energy routine originally meant to be performed in a short skirt, but Mu Yunshu didn’t like her girlfriend wearing skirts that were too short, so it had been changed to shorts.
She even wore skin-toned leggings underneath, making her look thoroughly covered from a distance.
You An scoffed. “If you don’t want your girlfriend to be ogled, why not just have her wait in the stands?”
Mu Yunshu hugged her partner and retorted, “Manman is destined to be famous across the country! You can hide her for a while, but not forever!”
“Ugh, gross.”
“Pfft—”
Mi Man was used to their bickering by now. The makeup artist, noticing time was running short, quickly called Mu Yunshu over for touch-ups—she had three songs to perform in this outfit.
The concert would start with Mu Yunshu’s solo segment, leaving Mi Man and You An to wait backstage. You An would go on next, followed by Mi Man, and the encore would again be Mu Yunshu alone.
Though the noise from outside barely reached the dressing room, Mi Man knew the stands were already packed.
All these people must really love Mu Yunshu to gather like this.
The thought of her girlfriend being adored by so many filled Mi Man with mixed emotions.
“You haven’t been in great shape lately,” You An remarked from her seat, watching Mi Man. “Something going on?”
Mi Man paused and turned to look at her.
During their previous collaboration, You An had already noticed the special dynamic between her and Mu Yunshu. Now, what else had she picked up on?
Were seasoned entertainers just that sharp-eyed?
“No,” Mi Man smiled. “Just some tension with my dormmates.”
“I see…”
“Yeah.”
Mi Man absently kicked at the carpet by her feet and mused, “There must be so many people out there.”
“Yes,” You An said calmly, sitting in her chair with one hand propping her cheek as she gazed at Mi Man. “After all, your girlfriend is an exceptional person.”
Mi Man smiled and nodded.
You An studied Mi Man carefully before slowly remarking, “Your expression is different from last time.”
Mi Man: “?”
You An chuckled. “When we were filming the variety show before, I thought you and Yunshu seemed quite distant—nothing like a couple at all.”
Even their interactions lacked the warmth of close acquaintances.
But now, several months later, she could sense the change between them.
Though they still maintained that sweet, affectionate dynamic, You An clearly noticed Mi Man had become much more at ease.
“Now I think you must truly like Yunshu,” You An said. “After all, the way you look at someone you love is unmistakable.”
Mi Man grew slightly uneasy at her words, lowering her head to stare at her toes.
Love…?
What exactly were her feelings for Yunshu? Truthfully, Mi Man wasn’t entirely sure.
Chenjing had occupied her heart for so many years that she could no longer distinguish what true emotions were.
Obsession, after all, wasn’t the same as love, was it?
As music began to play, Mi Man lifted her gaze to the ceiling, hearing the deafening cheers and blaring beats from outside.
Perhaps You An was right—maybe Mi Man really did like Yunshu.
After a few songs, You An also took the stage, leaving Mi Man alone to make final preparations.
Soon, she would have to go up and dance, and the nerves were starting to set in. Urged by the staff, Mi Man hurried over.
The lift slowly carried her upward.
When she opened her eyes, she was met with a dazzling sea of countless tiny, flickering glow sticks.
“Ah—”
“Ahhhh—”
“Ahhhhhhhhh—”
Mi Man had no idea what the crowd below was screaming about. Desperately, she searched for Yunshu and finally spotted her not too far away.
At that moment, Yunshu turned and looked back at Mi Man emerging from the lift. With a smile, she walked over and extended her hand.
Mi Man stared at her, breath catching in her throat.
Yunshu never let her see her back—always offering her hand whenever Mi Man needed it.
Clutching that hand tightly, Mi Man felt as if all sound had faded away, leaving only the person before her as her entire world.
Yunshu chuckled softly and pulled her into an embrace, teasing in her ear, “Silly girl.”
Their public display of affection sent the audience into another frenzy of screams. Mi Man could even hear shouts of “Don’t hug!” and couldn’t help but laugh.
Her girlfriend—since when did she need others’ permission to hold her?
Mi Man wrapped her arms around Yunshu, grinning with pure joy.
Though she wanted to linger in the moment, the audience had paid for this show. To spare them from excessive sweetness, Yunshu led Mi Man in a brief greeting before the music started again.
Reluctantly, Mi Man let go of Yunshu’s hand.
After two songs, during a short break, Mi Man went backstage to change into a white gown. The makeup artists rushed to touch up her look, everyone bustling about in a flurry.
“Quick, quick! We’re ready over here!”
Urged by the staff, Mi Man hastily picked up her skirt and jogged toward the stage.
Probably because her skirt was too long, Mi Man accidentally missed her step while climbing onto the lifting platform and fell flat on the ground, causing everyone to gasp in surprise.
Fortunately, the platform was only half a meter high. Mi Man just frowned slightly before quickly getting back up.
By the time the final song ended, Mi Man was completely drenched in sweat, utterly exhausted.
You An looked at her, puzzled. Even though it was an energetic dance performance, Mi Man shouldn’t have been this overheated—and her complexion looked terrible.
“Are you okay?” You An leaned in to ask.
Mi Man glanced at her, then slowly lifted her skirt with a frown, revealing her ankle.
There, on her left foot, was a swollen lump the size of a fist, looking particularly alarming.
Pale-faced, Mi Man whispered weakly, “I twisted my ankle…”
