Chapter 12: Find a Good Angle for the Paparazzi to Take Pictures
“Biological liking?” The term was unfamiliar to Jiang Qingyue.
Zhou Wen’s response was blunt. “It means when you see her, you want to get closer to her, have physical contact, even bite her. To put it simply—”
“You want to make hate with her.”
“Oh,” Zhou Wen added thoughtfully. “We lesbians usually don’t make love; we make hate. Just in case you don’t get it, it means you want to get on top of her…”
Jiang Qingyue touched her nose, interrupting her. “Alright, I get what you mean.”
Zhou Wen rubbed the platinum ring on her pinky finger. “So, you’re going to treat her like a lover and have no other thoughts?”
Jiang Qingyue opened the file, skimming its contents. “Yeah, a mutually beneficial arrangement.”
Zhou Wen looked at the other woman’s bowed head and suddenly smirked.
“I’m going to tell my darling about you. I’m going to dub you ‘Mutually Beneficial Sister.'”
Jiang Qingyue was speechless. “Zhou Wen, you really don’t act like a new business tycoon.”
Zhou Wen snorted, a slight twitch at the corner of her mouth. “You’ll understand the value of ‘biological liking’ soon enough, Miss Jiang.”
They talked about the project for a few more minutes, and then Zhou Wen, in a hurry to leave, took her leave.
The secretary came in again, and Jiang Qingyue picked up the file. “Have the business department move forward with this collaboration with the Zhou family.”
The secretary quickly agreed and was about to leave when Jiang Qingyue called out to her.
“Arrange for a few paparazzi in two days. I need them to take some pictures of me.”
Even though it was a clear day, the wind was far from gentle. A fierce gust of wind messed up Jiang Qingyue’s hair. Just as she moved the black strands from her eyes, she heard someone calling her name.
“Qingyue!”
It was a crisp female voice, with a rising intonation at the end.
Jiang Qingyue turned around and, before she could respond, a figure crashed into her arms.
Jiang Qingyue instinctively hugged the other person back. “Xin Xin.”
Wen Wuxin was half a head shorter than Jiang Qingyue. She buried her face in the other woman’s neck and shoulder. “No one here knows who we are. It’s not against the rules for me to hug you like this, is it?”
A faint scent wafted into Jiang Qingyue’s nostrils. She rubbed the other person’s back, and even through the layers of clothing, she could feel the other woman’s shoulder blades.
The term “butterfly bones” became a concrete reality for the first time in Jiang Qingyue’s life.
Jiang Qingyue didn’t answer but didn’t let go of the hug either.
Wen Wuxin cautiously lifted her head, intending to break the embrace. “I’m sorr—”
Jiang Qingyue could no longer hold back. She lowered her head and took a deep, deliberate sniff of the other woman’s neck and shoulder.
She genuinely wondered if she was a vampire. Why else would she have the inexplicable urge to bite the other person?
If Zhou Wen were here, she would probably just watch the drama unfold and then say, “That’s the power of biological liking,” in a snarky tone.
The two of them were pressed even closer by Jiang Qingyue’s movement, and her voice became unconsciously more seductive. “Xin Xin is still so good at acting first and asking for forgiveness later.”
Wen Wuxin’s eyes became moist. She was a little flustered. “President Jiang, I’m sorry. I won’t do it again.”
Jiang Qingyue finally released the hug, then naturally intertwined her fingers with the other woman’s. “But I like it when you act first and ask for forgiveness later. The next time we meet, hug me like that again.”
A pure, passionate, and intoxicating hug.
Wen Wuxin gave a barely audible “mm-hmm.”
It was a weekday, so there weren’t many tourists at the amusement park. The two of them strolled leisurely, and Jiang Qingyue said softly, “What do you want to ride?”
Wen Wuxin looked around and pointed into the distance.
Jiang Qingyue followed the direction she was pointing in. “The carousel?”
Wen Wuxin’s cheeks were slightly flushed. “Is that too childish?”
Jiang Qingyue’s voice was firm. “Not at all. I’m going to pick the biggest and most beautiful horse for you.”
The beauty just bit her lip and smiled.
Jiang Qingyue led Wen Wuxin toward the carousel. She discreetly glanced to the left and saw a few furtive-looking people far away from them.
Paparazzi these days are so bad at disguising themselves.
She sighed inwardly. Fortunately, these people were far away, so Wen Wuxin didn’t notice anything unusual.
“Xin Xin,” Jiang Qingyue suddenly called out.
Wen Wuxin stopped. “What’s wrong? Do you not want to ride this? We can go on something else.”
Jiang Qingyue shook her head. The sun was high in the sky, and the two of them, bathed in the sunlight, even had golden hair.
The Wen Wuxin in front of her no longer had any coldness about her. Those light brown eyes were looking at Jiang Qingyue with a serious expression.
Jiang Qingyue was momentarily choked up. Wen Wuxin didn’t miss the fleeting awkwardness in her eyes, but she didn’t call her out on it and just watched her quietly.
The awkwardness seemed to have just been Wen Wuxin’s imagination. Jiang Qingyue smiled. “Your hair is a little messy.”
Jiang Qingyue reached out, her fingers gently brushing a strand of Wen Wuxin’s hair.
The two looked at each other, one bright and bold, the other pure and shy. They were a perfect match.
Click.
The paparazzi in the distance pressed their shutter buttons in unison.
Jiang Qingyue quickly withdrew her hand, knowing that the paparazzi had already taken the photos they wanted.
The two of them walked to the carousel, talking and laughing. Jiang Qingyue chose a purple horse. “This one. It feels perfect for Xin Xin.”
Childlike music began to play. The two of them sat one in front of the other, and Jiang Qingyue could only see Wen Wuxin’s back.
On an impulse, Jiang Qingyue took out her phone and secretly snapped a picture of her back.
Then, while the music was still playing, Jiang Qingyue sent a message to her secretary, telling the paparazzi that they could leave.
After the carousel, they went on other rides. They went from being reserved at first to being completely carefree. By the time night fell, Wen Wuxin’s palms were slightly sweaty from all the fun.
Jiang Qingyue asked considerately, “Are you tired? I’ve booked a Chinese restaurant. Let’s go have dinner.”
Wen Wuxin looked a little hesitant.
“What’s wrong? Is there something else you want to ride?” Jiang Qingyue quickly understood the other woman’s intentions.
Wen Wuxin pointed to the Ferris wheel not far away.
Jiang Qingyue chuckled. “I almost forgot about that one. Let’s go!”
Even though there was no line, the two of them ran toward the Ferris wheel.
“Qingyue,” Wen Wuxin panted slightly. She asked, as if casually, “Have you ever been to an amusement park before?”
Jiang Qingyue shook her head.
Wen Wuxin was somehow relieved.
Jiang Qingyue didn’t ask any more questions. The two of them were led into a cabin by a staff member.
The people on the ground gradually became smaller. Wen Wuxin looked out the window, unconsciously gripping the hem of her skirt. She glanced at the person sitting opposite her, and her words trailed off.
But Jiang Qingyue smiled. “Are you going to ask if I know the legend of the Ferris wheel, Xin Xin?”
Wen Wuxin’s pupils constricted. “I…”
She couldn’t finish her sentence because the other person suddenly leaned in, and her full red lips lightly kissed the corner of Wen Wuxin’s mouth.
