Chapter 13: Remember to Clip Your Nails
Wen Wuxin’s body stiffened. Jiang Qingyue thought the other woman was scared by her.
But this person’s lips were even softer than she had imagined. The paparazzi were already gone, so Jiang Qingyue chose to follow her heart—
She kissed the corner of the other woman’s mouth. They separated slightly, their breaths clearly audible, and then Jiang Qingyue kissed her again. She aggressively deepened the kiss, and her practiced movements made it seem like she was truly a veteran of many battles.
Wen Wuxin closed her eyes, her thick eyelashes trembling slightly. She didn’t resist but didn’t take the initiative either.
“Mm…” The relentless kiss made Wen Wuxin moan softly.
They finally ended the kiss, which had been so hard to part from even in its first instance. Jiang Qingyue sat back in her seat, tilting her head to look at the other woman.
“Those legends are all lies. A couple won’t be together forever just because they kiss at the top of a Ferris wheel. Vows must be upheld by people, not by some ethereal will of heaven.”
The passionate kiss and the cold words showed Jiang Qingyue’s affection and ruthlessness in full measure.
Wen Wuxin’s ears were completely red. She couldn’t hide her shyness. Perhaps the kiss had been too intoxicating, and she hadn’t yet processed what Jiang Qingyue had said.
Seeing Wen Wuxin clutching her chest, Jiang Qingyue couldn’t bring herself to say any more harsh words.
The cabin slowly descended, and Wen Wuxin finally calmed down.
The night lights were a little hazy, and Jiang Qingyue could only see that the corners of the other woman’s eyes seemed a little moist.
“Qingyue, I know,” Wen Wuxin said, looking out the window. Her voice was still trembling.
Jiang Qingyue didn’t know she was such a soft-hearted person. She pursed her lips and finally just said, “Let’s go. I’ll take you to dinner.”
Both of them were a little tired after a day of fun. Not long after getting into the car, Wen Wuxin closed her eyes.
Jiang Qingyue looked at the other woman’s sleeping face, her eyes unconsciously falling on her slightly swollen lips.
She quickly turned her head and looked away, silently scolding herself in her mind for being so lustful for the other woman’s body.
Maybe she really shouldn’t have said those things on the Ferris wheel. Since she knew they wouldn’t come true, why say them to hurt the other person?
While Jiang Qingyue was still reflecting, her phone screen suddenly lit up. The secretary had sent her a picture.
Unlocking the screen, she saw a photo of herself kissing Wen Wuxin.
Two beautiful women were embracing and kissing. The blurred glass of the Ferris wheel cabin made the atmosphere even more intimate and ambiguous.
Both of them had their eyes closed, but it was clear that Jiang Qingyue was the dominant and aggressive one. Jiang Qingyue first unconsciously admired the photo, then the more she looked at it, the more something felt off.
Why did this photo make it look like I was more in love with Wen Wuxin?
Damn it, I’m supposed to be the sugar daddy who’s only in it for the physical and not the emotional!
Jiang Qingyue complained in her mind, but she sent a message of inquiry to her secretary.
[Didn’t I tell them to leave during the day? Why are they still taking pictures?]
The other person quickly replied.
[One of them didn’t leave. The paparazzi used to be a photographer for a fashion magazine, and he said the photos he took weren’t good enough, so he insisted on staying. He told me to tell you that this photo will not be published in the media. It was taken as a personal photo for you two. You’re welcome.]
Jiang Qingyue’s mouth twitched. Why was this paparazzi so smug?
She didn’t continue to scold the paparazzi and just replied with “Don’t do it again” before ending the conversation.
Half an hour later.
“Xin Xin,” Jiang Qingyue gently patted Wen Wuxin’s hand. “Wake up. We’re here.”
Wen Wuxin’s eyes were still hazy with sleep. “I’m sorry, I fell asleep without meaning to.”
Jiang Qingyue naturally didn’t mind. “You must be tired after a day of fun. Let’s eat quickly, and then I’ll take you home to rest.”
As Jiang Qingyue was a VIP among VIPs, someone came to greet them as soon as they got out of the car.
“President Jiang, this way please.” The man was wearing a white Chinese-style suit. His eyes then fell on the person next to Jiang Qingyue. “Miss Wen?!”
After saying that, the man realized he had been rude and quickly apologized. “I’m sorry. The boss has been saying he wants to buy Miss Wen’s paintings but can’t. I didn’t expect to see you dining with President Jiang at our restaurant today.”
Wen Wuxin just nodded slightly and said faintly, “Thank you for the love. If it’s meant to be, I’m sure your boss will be able to buy my painting.”
All her shyness and passion from before had completely disappeared, replaced by a polite distance and undisguised indifference.
Jiang Qingyue raised her chin. “Alright, take us to a private room for dinner. We’re hungry after a day of fun.”
The man bowed and quickly led the way.
After they entered the private room and sat down, Jiang Qingyue quickly ordered their food. After the waiter left, Wen Wuxin spoke.
“Qingyue,” her voice was gentle. “Is the owner of this restaurant a friend of yours?”
Jiang Qingyue raised her eyebrows. “Why?”
Wen Wuxin smiled, clasping her fingers together. “If he’s a friend of yours, Qingyue, I can paint another painting to sell or give to him.”
Jiang Qingyue didn’t know why she felt annoyed. “He’s not a particularly good friend, just a casual acquaintance. Speaking of which, you said you were going to give me a painting, but it’s not finished yet?”
Wen Wuxin tucked her hair behind her ear. “That…”
Jiang Qingyue wasn’t angry. She just teased, “I know our great painter’s paintings are hard to come by, but I can offer a high price for one. Just name your price, and I’ll buy it no matter how much it is.”
Wen Wuxin said slowly, “No, I…”
Jiang Qingyue became interested and raised an eyebrow. “Then what is it? Xin Xin doesn’t seem like the kind of person who breaks promises.”
Wen Wuxin was silent for a few seconds, then finally met her eyes.
“I don’t want to paint you from a photo. I want to ask you to be my model in person.”
Jiang Qingyue was stunned. The words of rejection were caught in her throat by an unknown force. Her full red lips parted slightly, but it was several seconds before she could speak.
“Okay.”
Wen Wuxin hadn’t expected her to agree. She said in surprise, “Really?! Then can you come to my place? I live alone, so no one will disturb us.”
Just as Jiang Qingyue agreed, the waiter came in with the dishes.
The meal was very harmonious. Jiang Qingyue picked up a piece of fish, removed all the bones, and then placed it in the other woman’s bowl.
“Eat more. You’re too thin.”
Wen Wuxin let out a soft laugh. “Qingyue, your tone really sounds like my teacher. She always says that too.”
Jiang Qingyue feigned anger. “Is that the same thing? Are you trying to say I’m like a caring mother to you?”
Jiang Qingyue’s words were like a flirtation, but they were also a test.
She naturally already knew that Wen Wuxin’s parents were dead, but she had to pretend she didn’t know.
To be honest, Jiang Qingyue had never been in a relationship, so she didn’t know which emotions were real and which were fake.
But the longing in Wen Wuxin’s eyes didn’t seem fake, and her past seemed to have no suspicious points.
But Jiang Qingyue still couldn’t believe that the other woman would fall in love with her so inexplicably. Her upbringing had forced her to be suspicious by nature, always wanting to test people over and over again.
Sure enough, when Wen Wuxin heard her words, she stopped smiling.
Putting her chopsticks down without a sound, Wen Wuxin said calmly, “Qingyue, I don’t have a family anymore.”
Jiang Qingyue was flustered. “I’m sorry, I didn’t know…”
Wen Wuxin shook her head. “It’s not your fault. You weren’t aware. They left me a long time ago. I’ve already come to terms with it.”
Jiang Qingyue just kept apologizing. “I’m really sorry. I just…”
Wen Wuxin smiled helplessly. “Qingyue, I don’t like it when you apologize to me.”
Only then did Jiang Qingyue fall silent.
By the end of the meal, both of them were eating without tasting the food.
When they got back in the car, Jiang Qingyue suddenly spoke.
“Are you free tomorrow?”
Wen Wuxin nodded.
Jiang Qingyue turned up the air conditioning in the car, her voice lazy and gentle. “Then I’ll come to your place tomorrow afternoon. I can’t wait to watch you paint me, Xin Xin.”
A sweet, undeniable smile appeared on Wen Wuxin’s face.
It wasn’t until she got out of the car, went home, and opened her door that her fake expression finally fell away.
She took off her shoes and, without putting on slippers, walked directly into the bathroom.
Her feet were on the cold floor, but she didn’t seem to notice. Wen Wuxin looked at herself in the mirror and said mechanically, like a robot.
“How disgusting.”
“It should be, how disgusting.”
She said the words without any emotion on her face.
“Jiang Qingyue is disgusting, but Wen Wuxin,” she said, looking at her reflection in the mirror, “you’re even more disgusting.”
Even though they could be considered enemies, she was so shamelessly, shamelessly…
…completely lost in that passionate kiss for a moment.
Slap!
Wen Wuxin slapped herself hard across the face.
The sharp pain on her cheek seemed to temporarily relieve the twisted and self-reproaching emotions in her heart. Wen Wuxin’s eyes became distorted and filled with a strange sense of satisfaction.
But it wasn’t enough, not nearly enough.
Her atonement was far from enough, neither for what happened before, nor for what happened today.
The intense emotional波动 caused a psychosomatic reaction. A sharp pain in her stomach immediately followed. Wen Wuxin covered her mouth and stumbled to the toilet, kneeling down.
“Ugh…”
All the food she had eaten that night was thrown up. In the end, she could only throw up bile.
Her once cold and elegant face was now a mess. The pain in her chest made her afraid to take a deep breath.
“…I deserve this.”
She knelt on the floor, looking at the warm light on the ceiling, crying and laughing at the same time.
On the other side.
After Jiang Qingyue returned to the Jiang family’s main house, she made a phone call.
“I’m telling you, Jiang Qingyue, can you please call me during the day next time? Don’t you know I have important things to do at night?”
Zhou Wen’s voice was filled with gritted teeth.
Jiang Qingyue knew she was being rude. She cleared her throat. “I won’t do it again. I just wanted to tell you that I’ve realized I really like having physical contact with her. And even though I only wanted a simple financial relationship with her, I don’t know why I agreed to be her model at her place.”
Zhou Wen’s tone became a little sarcastic. “Since we’re friends, I’ll give you a piece of advice.”
“What?”
“Before you go to her place, clip your nails.”
