Big Miss and White Moonlight, Stop Fighting! - Chapter 22
Chapter 22: Sister, What is Real?
Jiang Qingyue heard the sound of the car window shattering, followed by a muffled groan from the woman in front of her.
After the car stopped, Jiang Qingyue, out of concern for Wen Wuxin, did not immediately check to see if they were completely out of danger. Instead, she turned to Wen Wuxin to check on her condition.
Therefore, in her blind spot, due to the car’s heavy impact with the side of the mountain, several large rolling rocks and clumps of dirt were heading towards their vehicle.
Wen Wuxin saw them. She didn’t know what she was thinking at that moment. All she knew was that when she regained consciousness, she had already unbuckled her seatbelt and was holding Jiang Qingyue.
If the car couldn’t withstand the impact, then she would be Jiang Qingyue’s final shield.
Fortunately, the car was of good quality. The front windshield only had a spiderweb-like crack, and a few pieces of glass shattered onto Wen Wuxin’s back, cutting her.
Jiang Qingyue’s chest heaved violently, and her voice was shaking badly. “Xin Xin? Wen Wuxin? Are you okay?”
Wen Wuxin was still holding her tightly. Jiang Qingyue didn’t know the woman could have so much strength.
But she couldn’t see the other woman’s face, so she didn’t know her condition and was very anxious.
Struggling to unbuckle her seatbelt, Jiang Qingyue used all her strength to push Wen Wuxin away. “Let’s get out of the car first.”
They were not yet completely out of danger.
It wasn’t until they finally got out of the car and reached a safe distance from the scene that Jiang Qingyue truly breathed a sigh of relief.
She was panting as she checked Wen Wuxin up and down. “What’s wrong? You scared me to death just now!”
Perhaps the word “death” triggered Wen Wuxin, and the previously dazed woman suddenly became distraught.
Wen Wuxin’s cherry lips were slightly parted, letting out meaningless gasps. Her eyebrows were tightly furrowed. She seemed to want to say something but couldn’t.
Jiang Qingyue finally noticed something was wrong. She immediately took the other woman’s hands and comforted her softly. “It’s okay. It’s over now.”
Hearing the familiar voice, Wen Wuxin finally spoke.
She didn’t even have the strength to cry now. She could only tremble her lips, repeating over and over again, “Qingyue, don’t die. Qingyue, don’t die. I’m the one who should die.”
The other woman had fallen into a state like a nightmare. Jiang Qingyue could only wrap her arms around her, wanting to give her enough security.
“I didn’t die. We’re both alive and well. Don’t be scared, don’t be scared.”
Jiang Qingyue gently stroked the other woman’s back but suddenly felt something wet.
She withdrew her hand, and there was a patch of bright red bl00d on her palm.
Jiang Qingyue’s pupils constricted. She immediately checked Wen Wuxin’s back and, as expected, saw a bloody wound from the glass shards.
Her bodyguards and other staff also arrived at this moment. Everyone gathered around, and just as they were about to ask Jiang Qingyue if she was okay, she said sternly, “Where’s the doctor! Check on Wen Wuxin. She’s injured on her back!”
The person in question seemed completely unaware of the pain in her back. Wen Wuxin finally had the strength to cry. Her tear-streaked eyes looked at Jiang Qingyue.
“Don’t you die.”
And don’t die for me.
Jiang Qingyue’s heart felt as if it had been hit by a heavy hammer. Her voice was hoarse as she tried to force a smile. “I won’t die, Xin Xin. Let’s let the doctor check you out and get you treated, okay?”
Wen Wuxin looked at the woman with the beautiful and radiant face in front of her. She slowly reached out her hand and placed it on the other woman’s soft chest.
Thump, thump, thump.
The other person’s heart was beating strongly.
Jiang Qingyue is still alive. This time, I saved her.
This realization completely relaxed Wen Wuxin’s tense nerves. She swayed and fell into Jiang Qingyue’s arms.
…
“Xin Xin.”
Wen Wuxin, who was napping on the sofa, was suddenly woken up by a gentle female voice.
Wen Wuxin rubbed her eyes and sat up from the sofa sleepily. “Hmm…”
The person who had woken her up rubbed her head. “Why are you still sleeping? We’re about to leave.”
“Leave for what?” Wen Wuxin was still a little dazed. She instinctively grabbed the other person’s hand and rubbed it in the other’s palm.
The corner of Jiang Qingyue’s lips curved. “Are you still sleepy, Xin Xin? Did you forget? You were the one who suggested that our two families should go on a spring outing. The adults are all waiting for us. Let’s go.”
Wen Wuxin stared blankly at the person in front of her, who was somewhere between a girl and a woman—
Her eyes were always so gentle. At this moment, she had more maturity than a girl, but compared to women who had been adults for a long time, she still had a touch of youthfulness.
“Qing, Yue.” Wen Wuxin was like a puppet being controlled, slowly spitting out each word.
Jiang Qingyue smiled. “Yep, you still recognize me. It seems you’re not completely confused from sleep.”
The corners of Wen Wuxin’s eyes quickly turned red. “You and they are still alive.”
“What nonsense are you talking about? Of course we’re still alive and well.” Jiang Qingyue didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. “Why aren’t you calling me Sister Qingyue anymore?”
Wen Wuxin tilted her head. Her thoughts were very slow right now. “But I’ve been calling you Qingyue for the past year.”
No, I’ve been calling you Qing…
Jiang Qingyue pinched Wen Wuxin’s face. Although it felt great, she didn’t use any more force.
“You’re really confused from sleep. Oh well, it’s okay for you to be confused, Xin Xin. If you’re still sleepy, I can carry you on my back.”
Without waiting for Wen Wuxin’s answer, Jiang Qingyue had already turned around and squatted down in front of her.
But Wen Wuxin didn’t move.
Jiang Qingyue turned around. She was still squatting on the ground, like a pitiful puppy. She placed her hands on Wen Wuxin’s knees and rested her chin on them, teasing her in a pitiful tone.
“I thought you were really looking forward to this spring outing, Xin Xin. I just made some fried mushrooms and had my mom put them in a lunchbox, thinking we could eat them together when we go camping. Don’t you like my fried mushrooms anymore, Xin Xin?”
“I do!” Wen Wuxin’s tone was hurried, and she answered without thinking.
“Then why won’t you let me carry you? I’m very strong, you know. I could carry ten Xin Xins easily.”
Wen Wuxin uncharacteristically ignored the other woman’s teasing. She just shook her head.
“We can’t go on this spring outing.”
Jiang Qingyue asked her why, but she couldn’t give a reason.
Seeing that Wen Wuxin was not in a good state, Jiang Qingyue simply stood up and sat down next to her. She said softly, “Did you have a nightmare during your nap just now?”
Wen Wuxin’s smile was strained. “I don’t know.”
Which side is reality, and which side is the dream?
Jiang Qingyue wrapped her arms around her. The familiar scent of white camellias filled Wen Wuxin’s nose.
“It must have been a very scary nightmare,” Jiang Qingyue said, rubbing the other woman’s back, her tone full of heartache. “But don’t be scared, Xin Xin. Dreams are fake.”
Wen Wuxin’s voice was muffled. “Then what is real?”
“Xin Xin,” Jiang Qingyue took Wen Wuxin’s hand, guiding the other woman’s fingers to trace her own eyebrows and eyes. “The me sitting in front of you is real.”
