Big Miss and White Moonlight, Stop Fighting! - Chapter 24
Chapter 24: I’ll Lock You Up
Jiang Qingyue’s hand continued to caress Wen Wuxin’s hand, but she still hadn’t answered her.
She looked at the somewhat flustered person in front of her. The other woman’s lips were tightly pursed, and her once-rosy cherry lips had lost some color, becoming pale.
“…Do you really want me to be your sister?”
After a long time, Jiang Qingyue asked softly in return.
Wen Wuxin looked up a little guiltily, meeting Jiang Qingyue’s gentle peach blossom eyes. In the other woman’s pupils, she saw her own unease.
Sister Qingyue, don’t abandon me.
Even if I die, don’t leave me alone.
This thought in Wen Wuxin’s mind was almost like a flood, about to devour her sanity. But in the end, she could only suppress all of her emotions, impulses, and pain.
The two of them looked away at the same time, neither one of them having the time to care about the other’s expression.
Through the other’s pupils, Wen Wuxin saw her own unease, and Jiang Qingyue saw her own obsession.
I shouldn’t be like this, they both thought at the same time.
Wen Wuxin tried hard to find her voice. She didn’t know how forced her smile looked at this moment. “Of course! I’m going to stick to you forever, Sister Qingyue. Even if you hate me, I’ll still be in front of you every day.”
Jiang Qingyue returned to her usual gentleness and indulgence. She patted the back of Wen Wuxin’s hand and said softly, “I’ll never hate you, Xin Xin. But, if you’re a good child, Xin Xin, I’m willing to be your sister forever. But if you’re not good…”
I’ll lock you up, so that no one who covets you can see you again.
Jiang Qingyue didn’t finish her sentence, and Wen Wuxin successfully misunderstood what she meant.
But what should I do? Although her memories were still blurry and her mind was still in a state of confusion, Wen Wuxin was keenly aware that she seemed to have already done something that the other woman would never forgive.
She grabbed the other woman’s hand almost instinctively. Her cherry lips moved for a long time, and in the end, she just said in a dry voice, “Sister, I’ll be good.”
Jiang Qingyue, however, turned her head to look out the window. She took a deep breath imperceptibly, trying to make her voice sound the same as usual.
“Let’s rest for a while. It’s still a long drive.”
Wen Wuxin tugged at her sleeve pitifully. “I can’t sleep.”
This was the truth. Ever since she got in the car, Wen Wuxin’s sense of unease had been getting stronger and stronger. She was even so nervous that she had a slight ringing in her ears.
It was as if the further the car drove, the more likely something bad was going to happen.
The sword of Damocles hanging over her head was already swaying.
The person next to her misunderstood what she meant. Jiang Qingyue finally turned her head to meet her gaze. “Are you excited because we’re going on a spring outing?”
Wen Wuxin nodded aimlessly. “Mm-hmm.”
Jiang Qingyue laughed. “Then after I finish my college entrance exam, let’s go camping again, okay?”
Wen’s mother in the front interjected, “Qingyue, don’t spoil Wuxin. You’ll be very busy after your college entrance exam, so you can’t waste time with this child.”
Jiang Qingyue shook her head. “It’s not a waste.”
She cherished every minute and every second she spent with Wen Wuxin.
The few of them continued to laugh and talk. The sun was shining brightly outside the window. The tension in Wen Wuxin’s heart disappeared almost eerily. She felt a light, floating sensation.
It was as if her soul was about to leave this body.
Her body became out of control at this moment. Wen Wuxin’s eyes were already halfway closed. She wanted to struggle, wanted to speak, but she couldn’t do anything.
Jiang Qingyue thought she was sleepy. She straightened the strands of hair on Wen Wuxin’s forehead. “Sleep. When you wake up, we’ll be there.”
No, I don’t want to sleep. I can’t sleep!
Wen Wuxin screamed wildly in her mind, but on the surface, she couldn’t even move her eyeballs.
She could only slowly close her eyes. As her eyelids fell, the wide, bright view became narrower and narrower.
The last thing Wen Wuxin saw was the backs of the adults in the front row.
She eventually closed her eyes uncontrollably. The world fell into a quiet darkness. The only thing she could sense was the faint scent of camellias that entered her nose.
Wen Wuxin lost her sense of time. She didn’t know if it had been a minute, a day, or even a year.
She was trapped in an unknown dark abyss, unable to escape, and couldn’t even hear her own screams and cries.
Bang!
A loud noise tore through the darkness. Wen Wuxin seemed to finally be able to escape from this dreadful place.
A crack appeared in the darkness, but what shone through was not light, but—
A sky full of crimson.
Wen Wuxin’s eyes snapped open. The scene in front of her was like a slow-motion movie. The car, which had been driving steadily, suddenly overturned. Even though everyone was wearing seatbelts, everyone in the car was still inevitably thrown to the side due to inertia.
Snacks and water bottles in the car hung in the air. As the car rolled downwards, there were constant sharp noises from falling rocks hitting the windows and tree branches scraping against them.
Wen Wuxin was tightly held by the seatbelt on her chest. The life-saving belt was almost suffocating her, but she had no time to care about her own situation. She immediately turned her head to look at the person next to her.
Jiang Qingyue’s expression was surprisingly calm, as if she also knew that this accident would eventually happen.
But it shouldn’t be like this.
Bang!
This thought flashed through Wen Wuxin’s mind, but in the blink of an eye, she couldn’t dwell on it anymore. The car made another loud noise, and the cabin shook violently for a moment, as if it had hit something.
The four adults in the front two rows were already unresponsive. Only the two girls in the back row were still breathing.
A pungent smell quickly spread. Then, the temperature inside the car began to rise. The car was about to catch fire.
But after all the rolling, and with a huge rock pressing down on the outside, the inside of the car was already crushed and deformed. Jiang Qingyue, in a twisted posture, unbuckled her seatbelt. Her voice was incredibly dry.
“Xin Xin, don’t sleep.”
Wen Wuxin finally spoke. Her face was very pale, but her tone was incredibly firm. “Qingyue, don’t die.”
I’ll protect you no matter what.
Wen Wuxin also struggled to unbuckle her seatbelt, but the door handle was no longer working. She couldn’t open the door.
Fortunately, after all the bumps and rolls, the window on her side was mostly shattered, and the opening was large enough for her and Jiang Qingyue to get through.
The hope of survival was right in front of her. Wen Wuxin’s heart started to beat faster.
But she seemed to hear something rolling.
The distance between the two of them was instantly pulled apart. Jiang Qingyue retreated to her side without looking back. She spread her arms and firmly used her own body to block the window on her side.
She knew that if she didn’t block it, neither of them would be able to escape.
Jiang Qingyue wanted Wen Wuxin to live.
Rocks and branches rushed towards her side in a flash. The window shattered, and she shivered all over, letting out a muffled groan.
Her back was hit, and her palm, which was against the window, was pierced by a sharp branch from the outside. Jiang Qingyue, however, seemed completely unaware of it and became even calmer.
“Xin Xin, hurry up and go. You have to live.”
