Big Miss and White Moonlight, Stop Fighting! - Chapter 26
Chapter 26: What Else?
The physical injuries and psychological shock brought an overwhelming sense of exhaustion. Wen Wuxin originally just didn’t want to face Jiang Qingyue, but she actually fell asleep shortly after closing her eyes.
She slept surprisingly soundly, with no more nightmares.
After seeing that the other woman’s breathing had become regular and long again, Jiang Qingyue tiptoed out of the ward, went to the corridor, and made a phone call.
“Did you find anything?”
The answer from the other end of the phone made her let out a cold snort. “Since they dared to do this, they should be prepared to pay the price.”
After giving a fierce order, Jiang Qingyue brushed off some leaf fragments that had stuck to her jacket.
Her once clean and tidy clothes were now wrinkled. From the moment the accident happened until now, her entire heart had been with Wen Wuxin, and she hadn’t even had time to change into clean clothes.
She raised her head silently and looked at the bodyguard not far away. With just a look, the other person immediately handed her a clean set of clothes.
Tap, tap, tap.
Jiang Qingyue was about to take a shower and change her clothes when she heard the sound of hurried high heels tapping on the floor.
It was her mother, Jiang Asheng.
It was clear that Jiang Asheng had come in a hurry. The hair that was usually pulled back tightly to her scalp and tucked behind her ears was a little messy, and she was wearing the same dark blue suit that she wore most often at work.
Although she knew her daughter was fine, Jiang Asheng still frowned. “Qingyue, are you okay?”
Jiang Qingyue shook her head, her voice having lost all the fierceness it had just a moment ago. “I’m fine.”
A sense of post-fear came over her, gripping her heart tightly, leaving her without even the strength to speak loudly.
Jiang Asheng touched her arm. “When you get back, rest for a while. I’m giving you a week off. As for the people who hit your car… don’t rush to deal with them.”
Jiang Qingyue’s lips moved. Her once full red lips now had a hint of a withered color.
“But she’s injured.”
Jiang Asheng frowned. “What?”
Jiang Qingyue clenched the clean clothes in her hand tightly. Her voice was barely audible.
“I said, Wen Wuxin got injured trying to save me. I know, of course I know…”
Jiang Qingyue turned her head, closing her eyes in pain, not wanting to reveal an ounce of the pain in her eyes. But the immense sadness and anger caused her body to tremble uncontrollably.
Jiang Qingyue felt her throat was choked. It took her several seconds to say the rest.
“I know what I should be doing right now is to endure and lie low, to wait for the right time to deal them a fatal blow. I know all of that. But, Mom,”
Jiang Qingyue didn’t even realize she was choking up. “Xin Xin got hurt trying to save me. This time we were just lucky. If a rock had broken the car window and crashed in, and she had shielded me, she really could have…”
Jiang Qingyue couldn’t say the word “dead.”
Sighing, Jiang Asheng hugged her daughter. “If you feel guilty, then spend more time with her.”
To be honest, Jiang Asheng hadn’t expected Wen Wuxin to go to such lengths for Jiang Qingyue. Because she knew the past, she was even more certain that Wen Wuxin was just putting on a show.
But if it was an act, no actor would risk their life for a role.
Releasing the hug, Jiang Asheng saw the tears rolling down from the corners of Jiang Qingyue’s eyes. She thought for a moment and said softly, “How about you have Wen Wuxin move into the Jiang family’s main residence? That way, she’ll be safer.”
Jiang Qingyue sniffled, and responded to Jiang Asheng’s previous sentence.
“It’s not just guilt.”
Jiang Qingyue shamefully enjoyed the pure and fervent love Wen Wuxin gave her, but she couldn’t reciprocate with the same amount of emotion.
Her feelings for Wen Wuxin, besides that cheap liking, were more of guilt, indebtedness, and a deep sense of unworthiness.
“Mom,” Jiang Qingyue’s eyes were unfocused. “Maybe from the beginning, I shouldn’t have chosen her. I wish she didn’t love me so much.”
Jiang Asheng wanted to say something but held back. In the end, she just said softly, “After she’s discharged from the hospital, have her move into the main residence. I took a last-minute flight here, and I have things to do at the company, so I’ll head back now.”
When Wen Wuxin opened her eyes again, the first person she saw was still Jiang Qingyue.
But unlike the somewhat disheveled Jiang Qingyue from before, she was now wearing clean clothes, but she still looked drained.
Wen Wuxin’s voice was a little hoarse. “Are you tired?”
Jiang Qingyue smiled faintly. She touched Wen Wuxin’s face. “I’m not tired.”
“I’m sorry, Xin Xin,” she said, using the words she had prepared. “This is all my fault for getting you involved.”
After her nap, Wen Wuxin’s mind was exceptionally clear. All the negative emotions were suppressed deep inside her heart. She had the energy to play her part again.
So the typically cold beauty smiled with a sense of relief. “Luckily, it was me.”
“Hmm?”
Wen Wuxin looked into Jiang Qingyue’s affectionate peach blossom eyes. “Luckily, when the accident happened, I was there to protect you.”
Jiang Qingyue’s eyes turned red. She mumbled for a long time before saying in a trembling voice, “…You’re so silly.”
Wen Wuxin just smiled and didn’t say anything.
A peaceful and warm atmosphere filled the hospital room. After a long time, Jiang Qingyue continued, “Besides the superficial wounds on your back, you’re fine. We’ll be discharged tomorrow morning and go home.”
Wen Wuxin happily agreed. “Okay. But it’s a little difficult to change the dressing on my back. Could you come to my house and help me with it then, Qingyue?”
Wen Wuxin used her right hand, which was not on an IV drip, to scratch Jiang Qingyue’s palm. It was a plea, but also a kind of invitation.
Jiang Qingyue held Wen Wuxin’s hand back. The other woman’s hand was warm. Jiang Qingyue couldn’t help but squeeze it, then she refused her.
“No.”
Wen Wuxin bit her lip. She tried hard to hide her disappointment. “Okay, I can do it myself.”
Jiang Qingyue laughed. “Why did you answer so quickly? I can’t change your dressing at your house, but I can somewhere else.”
Wen Wuxin’s eyes darted around. “Your company office?”
…She didn’t expect Jiang Qingyue to be into such a thrilling thing.
Jiang Qingyue didn’t know what to do with her. “What are you thinking? Am I the kind of person who’s always lustful?”
Wen Wuxin didn’t answer, but her face just said three words.
“What else?”
Jiang Qingyue was helpless. She leaned over and pressed her cheek against Wen Wuxin’s right palm, then rubbed it.
“Xin Xin, come and live at my place. I’ll change your dressing at my house, okay?”
