Chapter 28: This is our Passionate Combo!
Thump, thump, thump.
For the first time, Wen Wuxin realized she could hear her own heartbeat.
After hearing what Jiang Asheng said, her heart suddenly started beating faster, almost jumping out of her chest.
But Jiang Qingyue was completely oblivious. She said with a chuckle, “So, our great painter Wuxin is much prettier in person than in the news photos, right?”
Jiang Qingyue took it for granted that Jiang Asheng was teasing her about the gossip news she had seen about her and Wen Wuxin.
Jiang Asheng also smiled and agreed. “Yes, she’s beautiful in photos, but in person, she’s an even more beautiful girl.”
The three of them chatted for a bit longer, then Jiang Asheng, who still had to go to her company, left first.
Inside the black Bentley.
Jiang Asheng looked at the scenery rushing past the window and sighed softly. “She’s still a child, after all.”
The driver in the front seat continued to drive the car quietly and steadily.
Jiang Qingyue cared about Wen Wuxin even more than she had imagined, and Wen Wuxin… was even more obsessive than she had imagined.
But none of that mattered. Even if Jiang Qingyue hadn’t sought out Wen Wuxin to be her lover, Jiang Asheng would have actively sought out Wen Wuxin. She needed Wen Wuxin.
As if she had thought of something, Jiang Asheng let out a soft laugh.
“I hope these kids don’t get too caught up in it.”
Meanwhile, at the Jiang family’s main residence.
Wen Wuxin and Jiang Qingyue were eating in the dining room.
The butler on the side looked like he wanted to say something but held back.
Jiang Qingyue, in a great mood, placed a crystal-clear shrimp dumpling on Wen Wuxin’s plate. She said lazily, “Butler Li, if you have something to say, just say it.”
The middle-aged woman let out a long sigh and said loudly, “I’ve never seen Miss Jiang spoil someone so much.”
Jiang Qingyue: “?”
Wen Wuxin: “?”
Jiang Qingyue said helplessly, “Butler Li, you need to stop reading so many novels.”
The butler said righteously, “You don’t know, Miss Jiang, but this is ‘butler literature’. After President Jiang told us yesterday that you would be bringing Miss Wen back today, we pulled an all-nighter to catch up.”
Jiang Qingyue didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. “You guys are really…”
But Wen Wuxin chuckled. Her eyes were sparkling. “That’s very interesting.”
When Wen Wuxin spoke up, Jiang Qingyue had no room to argue. She mumbled softly, “Okay, as long as Xin Xin likes it.”
After the two of them finished dinner, the maid who was clearing the dishes also came over. She and the butler looked at each other and said in unison:
“We haven’t seen you smile so happily in a long time, Miss!”
This was their passionate combo move!
Jiang Qingyue’s face was flushed, but Wen Wuxin was laughing so hard her whole body was shaking.
“Qingyue, everyone in your family is so interesting.” The smile never left Wen Wuxin’s lips.
Seeing that the other woman was no longer as reserved and unnatural as she had been when she first arrived at the Jiang family’s main residence, Jiang Qingyue was also a little happier. “I’m glad you like it.”
Seeing that the butler and maid were about to make another move, Jiang Qingyue hurriedly pulled Wen Wuxin away.
It wasn’t until they got to the living room that Jiang Qingyue slowed down. “We just finished eating, so let’s take a walk to help with digestion. I’ll show you around.”
“Um… maybe you should let go first.” Wen Wuxin’s ears were red, and she was very embarrassed.
Jiang Qingyue held on tighter. “No. You’ve seen how everyone feels about you. Why hide it? There’s no need to.”
Jiang Qingyue’s words reminded Wen Wuxin of something. “Speaking of which, are there other exits besides the main gate? Maybe I should use another exit from now on. If the paparazzi catch me living at your place, I’m afraid it’ll affect you.”
Jiang Qingyue let out a “tsk.” “Let them take whatever they want. You can just use the front door openly. Xin Xin, be a little more willful in front of me.”
Wen Wuxin scratched Jiang Qingyue’s palm. “Then I want to make a request.”
Jiang Qingyue wrapped her arms around the other woman and they stumbled forward like conjoined twins. “I’ll agree to anything.”
“Can you add fried mushrooms to every meal from now on?”
Jiang Qingyue released her hug and said through gritted teeth, “Sometimes I really want to fight those fried mushrooms. I don’t know what kind of magic they have that makes you want to eat them every meal.”
The two of them talked for a bit longer, and Jiang Qingyue finally laughed. She took Wen Wuxin’s hand again, and they walked towards the glass conservatory outside, chatting and laughing.
Standing not far away, Butler Li and the maid looked at each other and saw the relief in each other’s eyes.
They had watched Jiang Qingyue grow up. Although she now seemed like a flirty playgirl, the hardships she had suffered as a child were not something an ordinary person could endure.
The servants in the Jiang family knew that the relationship between the two was not a normal romantic one, but Jiang Asheng had given the order to be nice to Wen Wuxin. On top of that, Jiang Qingyue herself treasured Wen Wuxin so much that even the most unobservant person could tell the difference between what was real and what wasn’t.
“The young miss’s fated one has appeared.” The maid sighed.
The butler was startled. “Was that line in ‘butler literature’ or ‘maid literature’? Sister Wang, did you go to another class behind my back?”
Meanwhile, Jiang Qingyue and Wen Wuxin in the glass conservatory were completely unaware of this.
Jiang Qingyue pointed to the flowers in full bloom. “I know you love camellias, so I had the servants plant some camellia saplings not long ago. This glass conservatory has a constant temperature and humidity, so even when they’re not in season, these flowers can still bloom. From now on, you can see them whenever you want.”
Wen Wuxin squatted down to look at the colorful flowers up close. “Then if I hadn’t moved into the main residence, I wouldn’t have been able to see them, would I?”
“That’s right,” Jiang Qingyue also squatted down. “So you have to live at my house forever so you don’t miss the beautiful scenery.”
Forever?
Wen Wuxin sneered inwardly. Jiang Qingyue could always say these sweet words that would never come true so easily.
But Wen Wuxin still looked shy on the surface. “These flowers are all very beautiful, but I think the Qingyue who’s looking at them with me,” she looked at Jiang Qingyue’s bright and radiant face, “is the most beautiful thing in the world.”
Jiang Qingyue suddenly turned her head away and didn’t say anything, but her slightly red cheeks gave away her thoughts.
Wen Wuxin became the one to take the initiative. She moved closer to Jiang Qingyue and said in a spoiled voice, “Miss Jiang, who’s prettier than a flower, please look at me.”
Miss Jiang stood up with a red face. “I’ll take you to see some other places.”
The two of them then toured the wine cellar, the movie room, the gym, and other rooms. Jiang Qingyue suddenly stopped. “Oh, there’s one place you absolutely have to remember.”
The two of them arrived at the communal study on the second floor. Jiang Qingyue opened a bookshelf that was as tall as a person and pressed a book on it. The bookshelf slowly slid to the right, revealing a secret passage.
“Our house has a lot of escape routes. This one leads to the lawn outside. Only my mom and I knew about this, but now I’m telling you too.”
Wen Wuxin nodded, unable to help but exclaim, “It feels like something out of a spy movie.”
Jiang Qingyue chuckled. “My family didn’t have these things before, but ever since the fire that killed my sister, my mom had a lot of safety passages built.”
On the side that Jiang Qingyue couldn’t see, Wen Wuxin’s hand clenched tightly.
