Big Miss and White Moonlight, Stop Fighting! - Chapter 29
Chapter 29: Especially My Sister!
After talking to Wen Wuxin, Jiang Qingyue pressed the button at the entrance of the passage again, and the bookshelf returned to its original position, showing no signs of being a secret door.
“Oh, right,” Jiang Qingyue said excitedly, “your walk-in closet is next to mine, so you can put your clothes there. As for the art studio, there are a lot of empty rooms in the house. Just pick one you like. If the one you like isn’t an empty room, that’s fine too. I’ll have the servants clean it out…”
“Qingyue,” Wen Wuxin interrupted her rambling, “are these you and your sister?”
Wen Wuxin picked up a photo frame from the desk and asked.
The photo in the frame was of two newborn girls in swaddling clothes. Their two chubby, tender faces looked exactly the same.
Although it was in a photo frame, the photo was slightly yellowed, indicating that it was quite old.
Jiang Qingyue let out a “tsk.” She took the photo frame and looked at it. “I can’t believe my mom still hasn’t put this photo away. I’ve told her so many times that keeping the photo out just makes her sadder. What’s the point? But I was so ugly when I was little… I don’t even want to admit that’s me.”
Wen Wuxin also leaned in. She smiled. “You were very cute.”
I didn’t know Sister Qingyue looked like this when she was little.
Jiang Qingyue shook her hair and said with a bit of pride, “I admit that I’m very good-looking now, but when I was little, I was all wrinkled up. How can you say I was cute? You’re just looking at it through a filter, Xin Xin.”
“Oh,” Wen Wuxin pretended to look at the photo carefully again, nodding frequently. “You’re right. Your sister was much cuter than you.”
Jiang Qingyue let out a gasp. She turned the photo frame face down on the desk, then used her hand to pin Wen Wuxin’s hands behind her back. Then, with her other hand, she started to tickle Wen Wuxin’s waist.
“Xin Xin, how could you say something like that? My heart is so broken, boo-hoo. Your punishment is to be tickled without laughing!”
Wen Wuxin was uncharacteristically not backing down. She laughed non-stop while continuing to tease, “Your sister was just cuter than you. If I had met your sister first, maybe she would have been the one I liked.”
Jiang Qingyue gave up on tickling. She hugged the other woman tightly. Their bodies were pressed together with no gap in between. “I won’t allow it. I won’t allow you to fall for her. Xin Xin, you can only like me.”
Wen Wuxin found it a little hard to breathe from the tight hug. She didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. “Qingyue, why can’t you take a joke?”
“Because I’m a stingy person,” Jiang Qingyue mumbled.
“Okay, okay, you’re a stingy person. Can you let go of me first? You’re hugging me too tightly.”
Jiang Qingyue had no intention of letting go. “No. You have to make me a promise.”
Wen Wuxin caressed the other woman’s back. “What kind of promise?”
“You have to like me forever. Even if my sister comes back later, you can only like me.”
Wen Wuxin was completely amused now. “What nonsense are you talking about? Qingyue, didn’t you say yourself that you’re sure your sister is dead?”
“I don’t know. It’s all my mom’s fault for constantly talking about my sister in my ear. If she were really still alive, she should have been brought back to the Jiang family a long time ago.”
Jiang Qingyue was still hugging Wen Wuxin, so she didn’t see the other woman’s expression turn serious for a moment.
“Maybe your mom… finds it too difficult to accept the pain of losing a child, which is why she talks like that,” Wen Wuxin said softly, comforting her.
Jiang Qingyue, you’re so stupid. Jiang Asheng has hinted at it so much, and you still really believe your sister is dead.
Although, right now, Jiang Qingyue might really be…
Pushing down the myriad thoughts in her heart, Wen Wuxin offered gentle comfort.
Jiang Qingyue grumbled, “Let’s not talk about that anymore. I know I don’t have a great personality. If my sister were really still alive, she would probably have a much better personality than me… Anyway! Anyway, you’re only allowed to like me. You’re not allowed to like anyone else, especially my sister!”
Wen Wuxin chuckled softly. “Your sister hasn’t even said anything yet. Why are you creating an imaginary enemy here?”
Although, it’s not entirely an imaginary enemy.
Jiang Qingyue squeezed the back of Wen Wuxin’s neck. “You’re right. It’s all your fault for talking nonsense and making me jealous of a dead person.”
Wen Wuxin gently but firmly pushed Jiang Qingyue away. The two of them finally ended the tight and suffocating hug.
“Before I met you, I didn’t love anyone else. So don’t be angry, and don’t overthink it, okay?”
This wasn’t a lie. She was too young before and didn’t understand love. After that…
Wen Wuxin felt that she wasn’t worthy of loving anyone anymore, including herself.
Wen Wuxin was becoming better at pleasing Jiang Qingyue. As expected, after she said that, Jiang Qingyue’s lips became hard to keep from smiling.
But she still acted tough. “Who knows if you’re just trying to trick me?”
Wen Wuxin made a gesture of swearing. “If I’m lying, may I be struck by lightning and have a terrible…”
Jiang Qingyue quickly covered her mouth. “What nonsense are you talking about?!”
Wen Wuxin blinked and didn’t say anything else.
Jiang Qingyue raised her hands in surrender. “I was being too petty. Don’t take what I said just now to heart.”
She kneaded Wen Wuxin’s thin shoulders in a fawning manner and said softly, “Of course I know how you feel about me. Just forget everything that happened just now.”
Wen Wuxin grabbed the hand on her shoulder. “Okay. But you keep mentioning your sister, and it’s making me a little curious.”
“What do you want to ask? I’ll tell you everything.”
Wen Wuxin tilted her head. “If your sister were still alive, what would your relationship with her be like now? Would you support each other, or would you be scheming against each other for the family’s assets?”
Jiang Qingyue thought for a moment. “It would probably be… a pretty harmonious relationship? Everyone would rely on their own abilities. The one who’s suitable for this kind of work would handle more of the family’s affairs, and the one who’s not would handle less. As long as she doesn’t take you away from me, I can accept it.”
Wen Wuxin gently patted Jiang Qingyue’s arm. “What are you talking about? Your sister isn’t you. She might not even like girls.”
“No,” Jiang Qingyue perked up. “We’re twins. We’re the same in a lot of ways. Maybe she would also like girls, and it’s even more possible that she would also…”
…like you instinctively.
“Would what?” Wen Wuxin pressed.
Jiang Qingyue just shook her head. “It’s a secret.”
