Big Miss and White Moonlight, Stop Fighting! - Chapter 36
Chapter 36: Two of a Kind
So she had pretended to be strong and said that the person Wen Wuxin loved was herself.
Even though she knew better than anyone that it was a complete lie.
Wen Wuxin could fool her sister, but she couldn’t fool her.
Even if Wen Wuxin said in front of Jiang Qingyue that she loved her and wanted to get engaged to her, there must have been a hidden reason. No matter what the possibility was, it couldn’t be because Wen Wuxin genuinely loved Jiang Qingyue.
The cruel truth brought a huge emotional shock. Jiang Qingyue’s tears soaked her eyelashes, which had clumped together. The once bold and beautiful woman closed her eyes and whimpered.
“Xin Xin, don’t love anyone else.”
Unfortunately, she was alone in the car, and no one could respond to her.
…
Inside the Jiang Corporation building.
Seeing Jiang Qingyue, who had come to deliver documents, Jiang Asheng’s expression was subtle.
“I heard you left some documents at home and just went back to get them?” Jiang Asheng asked casually.
Only the two of them were in the huge office. Jiang Qingyue hummed in a voice that was barely audible.
How could Jiang Asheng not know what had happened? “You should have sent an assistant to get it.”
Jiang Qingyue looked up. “If I had sent an assistant, how much longer would you have kept it from me?”
Was Jiang Asheng happy to see her being deceived for the past two years?
Sighing, Jiang Asheng shook her head helplessly.
“I wasn’t trying to hide it from you. I was originally going to tell you about it during the day at the office, and we could all have dinner together tonight. I didn’t expect you to go back early.”
Man proposes, God disposes. How could Jiang Asheng have known that Jiang Qingyue, who was usually so cautious in her work, would also forget important documents at home?
Jiang Qingyue placed the documents on the desk. Just as Jiang Asheng was about to take them, Jiang Qingyue’s hand pressed down on the documents.
She stared at Jiang Asheng and said, word for word, “Did Xin Xin know my sister before?”
Jiang Asheng laughed. “That’s what you’re focused on?”
Shouldn’t she be focused on whether her position as the heir was still secure?
Jiang Qingyue said in a cold voice, “Before I started getting close to Xin Xin, I sent people to investigate her past, but there was nothing unusual.”
The number of people who could fool her, Jiang Qingyue, was very few.
Jiang Asheng admitted, “I did it. You couldn’t know about this at the time.”
Jiang Qingyue took a deep breath. “What exactly happened back then? Why did she know my sister? I thought my sister died?”
Jiang Asheng raised her chin slightly. “There’s a chair over there. Pull it over. Let’s talk while we sit.”
“You and I both know who the culprit of that fire twenty years ago was,” Jiang Asheng said slowly after Jiang Qingyue sat down.
Jiang Qingyue nodded slightly. “So why did you fake her death back then?”
“I had to do that to make him lower his guard. And as for why I chose your sister…”
Jiang Asheng stopped and then just shook her head. “It was my fault.”
She was too embarrassed to talk about those malicious and hidden thoughts.
“After your sister faked her death, I had her change her name to Jiang Qingyue, and she was raised by two people I arranged. Wen Wuxin was her neighbor.”
Jiang Qingyue’s face turned pale in an instant.
Jiang Asheng pursed her lips and said softly, “Do you want to have a cup of hot tea to calm down first? I’ll have my secretary…”
Jiang Qingyue shook her head. “Please continue.”
Softening her tone, Jiang Asheng continued, “They lived together until Jiang Qingyue was eighteen. At that time, that animal found traces of Jiang Qingyue and wanted to harm her. I also noticed it immediately, so I successfully protected the two families. On the surface, of the six people from the two families, only Wen Wuxin survived.”
“Why didn’t you fake the deaths of all six of them?” Jiang Qingyue asked in confusion.
Jiang Asheng was choked up. It took her several seconds to shake her head.
She had planned for many things, but she never expected that Jiang Qingyue would risk her life to save Wen Wuxin.
“I can’t plan for everything. So after that, I took your sister abroad to recuperate and study. And now, it’s time for her to officially return to the Jiang family.”
Although Jiang Qingyue was initially unwilling to return, Jiang Asheng knew how to manipulate her eldest daughter.
Jiang Qingyue finally found her voice. “So were Xin Xin and Jiang Qingyue… very close?”
Jiang Asheng opened her drawer and took out a not-so-thick photo album from inside.
There weren’t many photos, but they visually documented the journey of the two from little girls to young women.
But in every single one, Wen Wuxin and Jiang Qingyue’s eyes were filled with joy and concern for each other.
Stroking the face of the still-chubby Wen Wuxin in the photo, Jiang Qingyue finally heard her mother’s answer.
“They grew up together, so of course their relationship was very good. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to describe them as being as close as sisters.”
Although their relationship might not be the same now.
Jiang Asheng thought to herself but, of course, didn’t say it out loud.
“‘As close as sisters’…” Jiang Qingyue pondered these four words and then murmured, “So when Xin Xin got close to me, it was only for Jiang Qingyue?”
Jiang Asheng carefully chose her words. “Probably. She suspected that the accident was not a real one, so she got close to you. I felt guilty towards her, and by her getting close to you and entering our Jiang family, I could also protect her better, so I didn’t object to you two at the time.”
Jiang Qingyue said flatly, “But you clearly said that she was my shield back then.”
Jiang Asheng quickly denied it. “That wasn’t what I said. It was your thought, and I just said it out loud. Besides, if I had told you her true identity, you probably wouldn’t have been able to accept it.”
Jiang Qingyue had always been very cautious. If she had sensed that Wen Wuxin’s approach was intentional, she would have never accepted her advances.
“She cares a lot about Jiang Qingyue,” Jiang Qingyue still couldn’t bring herself to say the word “love.” She endured the pain of her heart ached. “And in her eyes, I’m not innocent either. Will she… still choose me?”
“Of course,” Jiang Asheng answered without hesitation.
For certain reasons, Jiang Asheng had to make Wen Wuxin choose Jiang Qingyue now.
“You two will get engaged,” Jiang Asheng said to comfort Jiang Qingyue, who still looked lost.
Jiang Qingyue looked up. “She’s willing to agree to get engaged to me under these circumstances because of you, isn’t she?”
Jiang Asheng neither confirmed nor denied it.
“Then are you going to give up on the engagement?”
Seeing Jiang Qingyue’s silence, Jiang Asheng took the initiative to ask.
Jiang Qingyue rejected it without even thinking. “I won’t. I must get engaged to Xin Xin. I also want to marry her.”
Just like a child.
Jiang Asheng smiled inwardly, but she nodded on the surface. “Okay, let’s get engaged first. Since Jiang Qingyue is also back, we’ll have a double celebration. We’ll hold your engagement party and her welcome back party on the same day.”
Jiang Qingyue finally moved her hand from the documents. She said solemnly, “Whether you want me to inherit the Jiang family or Jiang Qingyue, I will accept. If you haven’t decided yet, I will compete fairly with her. I only have one request.”
“Wen Wuxin is innocent. Don’t hurt her.”
Jiang Asheng rubbed her temples. “You and your sister really are…”
Two of a kind.
“Alright, alright,” Jiang Asheng opened the folder and waved her hand to dismiss Jiang Qingyue. “I get it. I will absolutely not hurt Wuxin. Don’t worry. Work fast today, and we’ll go back early. We’ll have a nice family dinner tonight.”
…
At the Jiang family’s main residence.
Wen Wuxin was slowly organizing the pigment bottles in her art studio. Butler Li was standing at the doorway, hesitant.
“What’s wrong, Butler Li?” Wen Wuxin asked without turning her head.
Only then did Butler Li walk closer. She squatted down beside Wen Wuxin, looking at the scattered pigment bottles on the floor. “The person who was inside just now was…?”
“Who do you think it was, Butler Li?” Wen Wuxin asked in return.
Butler Li gave a wry smile. “Miss Jiang’s biological sister? We all thought she… I didn’t expect her to be alive. That’s a happy ending for everyone.”
Wen Wuxin hummed softly, her tone firm. “Jiang Qingyue will have a very beautiful future.”
