Big Miss and White Moonlight, Stop Fighting! - Chapter 4
Chapter 4: Hot and Sticky
“Jiang Qingyue” held Wen Wuxin in her arms like a protector. Wen Wuxin heard the sound of the silver blades piercing her body and the choked cries of pain.
Wen Wuxin cried until her voice was hoarse. “Sister Qingyue, let me go! You’ll die if you keep this up!”
“Jiang Qingyue” still didn’t loosen her suffocating embrace. Her left hand trembled as she tried to wipe away the tears on Wen Wuxin’s face.
But the next second, a silver blade flashing with cold light mercilessly pierced through her palm.
Wen Wuxin’s eyes widened in horror, and she screamed. She struggled to break free from the woman’s arms, and in their struggle, the white camellia she had tucked behind her ear fell to the ground.
Wen Wuxin looked down and saw that the white camellia had been stained with bl00d, its serene elegance now a grotesque red.
The white flower was stained with red, and the once clear blue sky turned a crimson red. The air seemed to be filled with the thick smell of bl00d.
Wen Wuxin gasped for breath. She looked back at “Jiang Qingyue,” whose body was covered in wounds, and tried to use her hands to stop the profusely bleeding cuts.
“Jiang Qingyue’s” face quickly turned pale, but she still wore her gentle smile. She softly finished the sentence she hadn’t been able to say before.
“Even if it costs me my life.”
Wen Wuxin found that she couldn’t do anything. She could only call out to the woman incoherently.
“Qingyue, Qingyue.”
“Jiang Qingyue” slowly closed her eyes.
“Don’t fall asleep, I’m begging you.” Wen Wuxin felt as if her heart was shattering.
“Don’t die, don’t die. I’m the one who should die.”
No matter how much Wen Wuxin pleaded, she eventually watched “Jiang Qingyue” stop breathing in front of her.
“Qingyue, don’t die.”
Wen Wuxin had no more tears left to cry. She could only numbly hold the woman and repeat the words over and over again.
“…Xin Xin.”
It seemed someone was calling her, but Wen Wuxin ignored it. She could only feel “Jiang Qingyue’s” body getting colder and colder.
“…Wen Wuxin!”
Wen Wuxin’s body jerked, and she suddenly opened her eyes.
Jiang Qingyue finally breathed a sigh of relief. “You’re awake. Were you having a nightmare? You scared me.”
Jiang Qingyue had just returned to the bedroom from Jiang Qiange’s study when she heard Wen Wuxin’s helpless and pained cries.
They weren’t exactly screams. Wen Wuxin looked like she was using all her strength—her forehead and neck were covered in cold sweat, her hair coiled around her neck, shoulders, and cheeks like cold snakes. Her lips were slightly parted, her brows were tightly knit, and her chest was heaving, but she could only make pitiful whimpering sounds like a young beast.
Jiang Qingyue quickly moved closer and put her ear to the other woman’s lips to hear what she was saying.
She was repeatedly saying, “Qingyue, don’t die.”
Jiang Qingyue’s heart suddenly raced. She quickly composed herself and tried to wake the other woman.
After raising her voice several times, Wen Wuxin finally woke up.
But the moment she saw Jiang Qingyue, tears welled up in her eyes.
Even though she had left the dream, Wen Wuxin seemed unable to distinguish between reality and fantasy. She trembled as she grabbed the other woman’s left hand and pressed her cheek against it with a sense of deep affection.
Wen Wuxin’s tears soaked the slightly rough bandage.
“Qingyue,” she said, her eyes blurry with tears. “I was so scared.”
Jiang Qingyue felt her heart being gripped tightly. She smoothed the stray hairs on Wen Wuxin’s forehead and said softly, “I’m really fine. Don’t worry.”
It must have been the events of the day that had disturbed Wen Wuxin and prevented her from sleeping peacefully.
Jiang Qingyue’s comfort didn’t do much. Wen Wuxin let go of her hand and turned away, sobbing with her back to her.
Jiang Qingyue felt both heartbroken and amused. “Why are you pouting? If you keep crying, your eyes will be swollen in the morning.”
Wen Wuxin’s voice was muffled. “If you do that again, I’ll, I’ll…”
She couldn’t say the harsh words.
Jiang Qingyue didn’t dare to tease her anymore and simply went along with her. “There won’t be a next time. What happened today was just an accident. Don’t overthink it.”
Wen Wuxin finally turned around. Her thick eyelashes were wet with tears, clumping together and making her look incredibly pitiful.
“Are you going to leave again later?” she asked in a small voice.
If you keep using the strategy of retreating to advance, you have to be a little bit willful at times, otherwise, she would lose her appeal to Jiang Qingyue.
As expected, Jiang Qingyue shook her head as soon as she heard this. “No, I’m not going anywhere. You don’t have any work lined up anyway. Tomorrow, I’ll take you out to relax, and also…”
“Also what?”
Jiang Qingyue kissed Wen Wuxin’s wet eyelids. “It’s a secret.”
Pulling back the blanket, she wrapped her arms around Wen Wuxin. “I’m right here. Just go back to sleep.”
The rest of the night, Wen Wuxin actually had no more dreams.
The next morning.
Wen Wuxin’s eyes were thankfully not swollen, but her face was pale. In contrast, Jiang Qingyue, who had been injured yesterday, had a rosy complexion and was full of energy.
“Will us leaving affect your work?” Wen Wuxin asked while combing her hair after washing up.
“No, it won’t. Xin Xin, I want you to be a little more willful with me.”
Jiang Qingyue’s sweet words successfully brought a smile to the beautiful woman’s face. Wen Wuxin said softly, “Okay.”
The two went down to the living room. The usually quiet room was now a bit lively: the store managers of several luxury brands had brought all their new season’s clothes and jewelry to the Jiang family’s main house. The clothes were neatly hung on garment racks, and the bags were displayed on temporary tables, waiting to be chosen.
Jiang Qiange was directing the servants in their selections and, seeing the two women, she beckoned them over. “Perfect, you two should choose something too.”
Jiang Qingyue held Wen Wuxin’s hand, barely looking at the clothes before picking up a white dress.
“Doesn’t this one look like the dress in that painting yesterday?” Jiang Qingyue asked.
It would take some time for her secretary to have a custom one made, so a similar one would have to do for now.
Wen Wuxin just smiled. “Actually, white doesn’t really suit you.”
Jiang Qingyue pouted. “You painted me in a white dress because you wanted to see me in it, and now you’re being so contradictory.”
Wen Wuxin let go of Jiang Qingyue’s hand, which she was holding tightly, and began to seriously browse through the clothes. She finally walked to one spot and took out a red evening gown.
The gown was bright and bold. The moment anyone saw it, they could naturally imagine how beautiful Jiang Qingyue would look in it.
“This one suits you perfectly, Qingyue.”
Jiang Qingyue waved her hand. “I’ll buy it. I’m taking it now.”
When she wore it that night, Wen Wuxin would be completely captivated by her.
Jiang Qiange spoke up. “Is there anything you want, Wuxin?”
Wen Wuxin was about to shake her head, but Jiang Qingyue laughed and said, “I want all the new clothes, bags, and shoes this season. Mom, please have the servants iron them and send them to Xin Xin’s walk-in closet later. We have to go now.”
Wen Wuxin hooked her pinky finger with Jiang Qingyue’s, wanting to say there was no need to buy so much, but Jiang Qingyue pulled her away without a second thought.
The scenery outside the car window sped by. Wen Wuxin glanced out and then looked back inside. “Are we going to the airport?”
Jiang Qingyue blinked. “Kiss me, and I’ll tell you.”
Wen Wuxin glanced at the driver in the front seat, who was barely daring to breathe. She used her index finger to brush her own lips, then beckoned to Jiang Qingyue.
“Do you want to try the color of my lipstick?”
Wen Wuxin’s soft fingertip was stained with a warm peach-pink. She held her finger about 20 centimeters from Jiang Qingyue.
Just close enough to see, but not close enough to reach.
Jiang Qingyue, who had been leaning lazily against the seat, chuckled. She slowly sat up straight and took Wen Wuxin’s hand.
Kissing the other woman’s cool fingertips, Jiang Qingyue turned up the air conditioning in the car and teased.
“Then, Xin Xin, what do you think? Does it suit me?”
Wen Wuxin looked at the other woman’s full red lips and said seriously, “Your original lipstick color is too saturated. The one I’m wearing is too light, and since it was a layered application, you can’t really tell.”
Jiang Qingyue’s eyes curved into crescent moons as she laughed. She reached out and tucked a strand of Wen Wuxin’s black hair that had fallen onto her fair neck behind her shoulder, her voice incredibly soft. “Our genius painter is so meticulous.”
Wen Wuxin’s ears turned red, and she looked away. “I’m sorry, am I being too boring?”
“Who said that?” Jiang Qingyue immediately denied. “Our Xin Xin is the kindest, most beautiful, and most talented baby.”
Wen Wuxin’s face was now a complete shade of red.
“…You’re treating me like a child again.”
Hooking her finger on the other woman’s small, upturned nose, Jiang Qingyue put one arm around Wen Wuxin’s waist. Their cheeks were pressed against each other, and for a moment, even the other person’s breathing was clearly audible.
Her equally slender and well-defined hand roamed Wen Wuxin’s waist. Jiang Qingyue suddenly stopped, her index finger lightly pressing down on a spot, and she felt the other woman shiver as expected.
Knowing when to stop, she pulled her hand back, took a strand of Wen Wuxin’s hair, and with her red lips, she whispered, “Whether I treat you like a child or not, you should know better than I do.”
Wen Wuxin’s fingers were tightly clenched. After a long time, she finally said shyly, “So, are we going to the airport?”
Jiang Qingyue laughed. “Xin Xin, you still remember that question. Yes, but the final destination is a secret for now.”
Five hours later.
The sun was shining brightly. After a plane ride and a boat trip, the two finally arrived at their destination.
“There’s no one here but the staff,” Jiang Qingyue said as she and Wen Wuxin got off the boat onto an island. “You can rest well and not worry about anything else.”
The salty sea breeze ruffled their hair, and their hair became intertwined. Even though it was a bright, dry day, Jiang Qingyue’s eyes were hot and sticky.
The staff who had been waiting came over. They held umbrellas for the two women and quickly loaded their luggage into the car. “Hello, we’ll drive you to the villa now. Please let us know if you need anything else.”
Wen Wuxin opened the car window a crack and reached out to feel the wind blowing in. After watching the scenery outside for a while, she suddenly spoke. “Are there no other tourists on this island?”
